Great food and great service we had! The waiter was speaking fluently in French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and English.. he loved to entertain people and on top of that the food was delicious, and the restaurant was in a very cozy environment.. a need to visit when in Coimbra!

My wife and I were on honeymoon trip in Portugal, for all the meals we had in Lisbon and Coimbra (heading to Porto tomorrow), this one is by far the BEST we had, all foods were well prepared and the wine is delicious, will definitely come back!

Best food we had on our trip through Portugal so far! Really tasteful and some good wine as well. The stuffed mushrooms and the dessert were my favorites!

Locale informale ma raffinato. Posizione vicinissima al centro. Tapas davvero buone e particolarmente studiate, porzioni non abbondandi, prezzi non economici ma giusti. Il personale è serio, professionale e preparato anche sul vino. Esperienza top!

Bom ambiente, petiscos muito saborosos. Para duas pessoas, pedimos duas cervejas artesanais, petingas, tosta de bacalhau e polvo ensalarado. Para sobremesa pedimos o trio (mousse de chocolate, tarte de limão e doce típico de Coimbra). Sem dúvida, um sítio de paragem obrigatória.

Very tasty tapas, the boat of sardines is a not-to-miss, not for the taste (it’s just as good as many other plates of sardines in Portugal) but it’s definitely presented in a curious way.
Waiter was kind and helpful, he speaks many languages and he’s also very passionate about wine.
This is a place to try if you are in Coimbra

Was a very tasty little small plate restaurant. The service was great and very friendly. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, smoked salmon salad, mixed veggies, octopus, bruschetta, two stuffed mushroom plates, potatoes... and they were all very good.

Restaurant dans une petite ruelle à l'écart du centre plus touristique..mais ne vous y trompez pas c est aussi un resto pour les touristes..menu en 4 langues service polyglotte et tapas ...on aime ou pas ..mais l authenticité n est pas au rendez-vous

Probably the slowest service in all our time in Portugal. The restaurant must have a deal with bigger tour groups because a table of 10 were being attended to while all other tables were being ignored. It was literally like watching the last supper!! Finally we got to order some table bread and even that took about 25 minutes to appear. I'd nearly have offered my kitchen services to slice the bread myself. Should have left there and then but we persisted on to the starters & main. When food arrived it was on the cold side. Tasted ok but when customer service is that bad it really sucks the enjoyment out of any meal. It even took forever for them to take the payment afterwards. We couldn't get out of there quick enough! Shame as felt like an evening holiday meal wasted.

No meio de uma viagem, de passagem pela cidade de Coimbra, não poderíamos ter encontrado melhor local para um repasto. A localização é excelente, numa rua de calçada bem típica e com o rio lá em baixo a espreitar. A decoração é fantástica e transporta -nos para a identidade desta bela região de Portugal e, mais ainda, para Portugal inteiro, tudo bem temperado com muita simpatia.
O conceito é : petiscos. E que senhores petiscos!! Deixamos o exlibris das sardinhas no estendal para a próxima visita e avançamos numas deliciosas tostadas, uns cremosos ovos mexidos e a divinal Mar & Campo. Para fechar a sugestão da tarte de lima. Top!!

Locale carino e servizio gentile. Ho assaggiato alcune specialità tra cui un tortino di baccalà così buono che abbiamo replicato la ricetta una volta a casa. Il prezzo non era eccessivo. Ne ho un buon ricordo.

Restaurant tapas portugais très agréable. Le repas était savoureux et bien copieux. Une mention toute particulière à l'hospitalité du maître des lieux, notamment pour ces conseils en vin. Nous avons passez un très bon moment.

Super lecker. Wir haben zwar 65 Euro bezahlt,aber es hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Die Küchen waren echt toll. Wein war auch toll, wir haben auch was zum Probieren bekommen. Bedienung total Klasse.

Unscheinbares kleines Restaurant im Zentrum von Coimbra, ehr versteckt im einer Seitengasse.Erster Pluspunkt war das direkt am Eingang eine mehrsprachige Preisliste hängt, was für uns ein gutes Zeichen ist nicht übers Ohr gehauen zu werden (wie hier leider oft der Fall)!
Ein Einrichtung ist einfach und zusammen gewürfelt, aber das ist gewollt und sehr gemütlich. Die Bedienung ist mehrsprachig und super nett(lasst ihn einfach das Essen raussuchen, wir sind damit super gelaufen). Das Essen ist absolut erlebenswert und ich bin ein bisschen traurig das wir den letzten Abend hier sind und uns morgen in Lissabon aufs neue so ein gutes Restaurant mit so fairen Preisen suchen müssen.
Gerne jederzeit wieder!!

Si mangia molto bene a un prezzo accettabile. Siamo andati in nove e abbiamo ordinato cibi differenti. Tutto veramente buono. Personale cordiale e Rafael un bravissimo padrone di casa. Parla anche italiano. Ci siamo trovati talmente bene che abbiamo prenotato anche per la sera seguente.

Sólo por la buena atención ya merece las 5 estrellas! Nos trataron de maravilla! Cenamos unas tapas, sin duda la más original las sardinas en barca!! El menú está en español y algunas traducciones son divertidas jeje!
No os dejéis llevar por el nombre, ya que llamarle Arcadas a un restaurante no suena muy apetecible

Best dining experience we had in Portugal.
Excellent food, excellent wines (and other "bebes"), great ambient and very kindly staff.
Before I write more adding some photos since they speak for themselves.
Despite many recommendations we've chosen this place spotted while randomly wandering on less frequent streets. It is located less than 5 minutes of walking from the University, cathedral (Se Velha), main city square. It is located in very narrow street assuring that only at high noon you will not be sitting in pleasant shade, in very quite street with little pedestrians and virtually zero cars (only one we saw was delivering supplies to the restaurant). We've eventually ended up eating there twice and tried almost half of their menu. It is hard to recommend what to eat (all was great), but do not miss Moncorvao - pastry stuffed with Alheira sausage.

Super sympa, nourriture très bonne ou il y a présence de nombreux plats végétariens. Le serveur qui nous a servi était particulièrement chaleureux et à fait un réel effort pour nous parler en anglais et à été très gentil. Je conseille fortement ce restaurant.

Tapas poco elaboradas. El chorizo q ponen podría ser del supermercado día, el pulpo es de lata de conserva del super más bien malo, acompañado con una vinagreta insipida.
El gatito está orientado al turista. De hecho no veréis a ningún paisano del lugar comiendo un chorizo de plastico a 6 euros.
No lo recomiendo. Con los restaurantes de comida portuguesa rica y barata q hay, es un error caer por este lugar.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed have a Sunday afternoon repast here. I feel like an arse that I don't know our server's name so I can call him out for the great guy he is... patient, ready with recommendations, speaks excellent English - basically the perfect person to help a couple of American tourists looking for some great food and wine.
We ordered mussels (very slightly over done but very tasty), octopus (served cold, very good), padron peppers (good with wine, would have been perfect with beer), stuffed mushrooms (tasty, lowest on my list though), smoked salmon bruchetta (solid).
Many thanks for a great Sunday afternoon meal. We apologize for keeping you open past your normal lunch time - and serious props for not saying anything to us about it (we didn't even realize until we checked the hours to write this review).

Restaurante de comida típica portuguesa en un ambiente acogedor.
La calidad del producto es fantástica .
Las sardinas en barca imprescindibles.
Nosotros comimos tb garbanzos con bacalao extraordinarios ,un hojaldre relleno de un embutido ahumado digno de ponerle un piso.
Por si fuera poco el trio de postres buenísimo, a destacar la tarta de Lima y la crema de almendras.
Rafael nos atendió estupendamente .
Y la cuenta mejor la veis.

Excelente opção para a passagem de ano. Ofereceram um menu completo - couvert, tabua de queijos e enchidos, entrada, prato e sobremesa que estava excelente. O Vinho estava incluido e foi interessante ao longo da noite terem-nos oferecido vários vinhos a provar - sem dúvida uma mais valia.
No final ainda nos ofereceram uma garrafa de espumante.

La comida, simplemente correcta, no es destacable ni mucho menos. El tamaño de las raciones es pequeño. El servicio bastante lento, más teniendo en cuenta que era primera hora. Lo bueno, que el camarero hablaba perfectamente español y que tienen carta en varios idiomas.

Posso dizer sem grande margem para dúvida que foi dos melhores restaurantes onde já fui na minha vida. Fácil explicar:
°Espaço super acolhedor - parecia que era convidado na casa de alguém
°Funcionario incrivelmente simpático e fez de tudo para termos a melhor experiência possível.
° comida do estilo petiscos do melhor que há. Petiscámos cerca de 8/ 9 tipos de petiscos e todos estavam além do delicioso.
° Música Portuguesa de grandes nomes.
° Para terminar uns aperitivos por conta da casa
Eu e a minha família passamos cerca de 3 horas e mesmo que o resto das férias não tivessem sido boas, só por este momento já teria valido a pena

Sitio muy acogedor, comida "home made, (y con cariño)", probamos varias cosas, y nos gustaron todas, pero lo que más nos gustó fue la tarta de lima, es un sitio a tener en cuenta si estás por Coimbra.

Ein nettes, recht gemütliches Kleines Snacklokal. Tapas hingegen ist anders - dies bezüglich anderer Rezessionen.
Nur drei Sterne weil: Essen ist gut und interessant, aber ohne Würze und Geschmacksausdruck. Da nur ein, aber äußerst liebenswerter und bemühter Kellner, sehr lange Wartezeiten. Und er weiß aber über seine Weine Bescheid!
Auch die Küche scheint entsprechend schwach besetzt. Preise sind echt OK (günstig).
Daher - Zeit mit bringen und ausprobieren.

Fantastic restaurant with delicious Portuguese food. The staff and especially the manager is really friendly and customer focussed. He will do anything for you to give you a wonderfull night. Also the sangria and other cocktails are made with love and even adjusted the way you prefer. I would highly recommend this place.

This place is very nice and “modern” for Coimbra standards (which, admittedly, are modest compared to Lisbon). Food is tapas style. The main plus of this place is the wonderful ambience outside in summer. Food is imperfect but decent.

Buena comida y personal muy simpático y atento. Los platos son buenos y abundantes, siempre acompañados de un contorno (ensalada). El precio está bien (10€-15€) y además se encuentra en la parte alta, de modo que no hay que bajar todas las escaleras. Cartas en todos los idiomas y ambiente acogedor. Al final de la cena el propietario nos ha ofrecido un shot.

Muy decepcionada con el sitio. Teniendo reserva para cenar en la terraza llegamos y está toda llena, así que nos hacen esperar para montarnos una mesa improvisada en un extremo de lo que es la terraza propiamente dicha, sin luz y en un espacio muy feo, al lado de un coche. Al final les pedimos que nos ubiquen dentro y nos cambian, pero nos toca esperar 15 minutos más, así que en total nos sentamos a cenar media hora más tarde de la reserva que habíamos hecho inicialmente. Pedimos setas rellenas de camarones y queso y hojaldre de marisco, cada plato por el valor de 7 euros. Nos traen dos setas (literal, sólo dos) y un hojaldre del tamaño de un paquete de tabaco, así que acabamos pidiendo un tercer plato, de tamaño y precio más o menos similar a los anteriores. La comida me parece que está buena, pero tampoco es que la haya cocinado Ferràn Adriá... La luz saltó 3 veces durante la cena, el servicio fue lento (iban a tope, tienen más mesas de las que pueden abarcar) y el precio de una botella de agua de 1l fue 3 euros. Mi opinión es que los precios son demasiado caros para lo que ofrecen. No volvería a este sitio nunca más.

Para olvidar. Camareros haciéndose el simpático, servicio lento de solemnidad, pide el vino que quieras que te traerán el que les de la gana... Por cierto, no aceptan tarjetas, aunque luego veas que hay mesas a las que sí que se las aceptan.

This was the perfect place to end our day in Combria! Everything was perfect from the welcome to the wine to the food. I wish we were staying longer just to come back here. The chorizo is so good, cooked by your table and the bruschetta is the best one I ever had!

Un lugar pequeño pero agradable con buena comida y un excelente servicio. Tienen platillos y bebidas muy variadas. El precio es bueno por la calidad de los alimentos que ofrecen. Es un espacio excelente para pasar una velada íntima. Lo recomiendo.

Great food, tapas style, freshly prepared and presented in a perfect way.

Cosy place in the old heart of Coimbra, they serve delicious traditional and innovative tapas. Really excellent quality food beatifully presented, wide selection of wines. Good value for money, excellent service, I strongly recommend this little restaurant, far better of many others more "visible" and attractive along the main tourist route.

O ambiente, apesar de um pouco escuro, é muito pitoresco. A zona onde se insere é uma das mais interessantes de Coimbra e foi num passeio turístico a mostrar a mina cidade a amigos que descobrimos este local. Gostámos de todos os petiscos e da sangria mas destaco as tostadas e os cogumelos recheados com farinheira e mozarela, de entre os que experimentámos. A tarte de lima é maravilhosa mas as pêras bêbedas, gentilmente oferecidas para experimentamos, são sublimes. O atendimento absolutamente irrepreensível, simpatia e disponibilidade. No final ainda tivemos mais um miminho a oferta de uma jeropiga...maravilhosa. A repetir, sem dúvida

Arcada provided fantastic traditional Portuguese food, wine and service at a reasonable price.
The restaurant specializes in smaller dishes that can be shared amongst two or more people. In our case, we found four dishes and a salad to be the ideal amount of food. The quality of food was excellent. All of the dishes we sampled were delicous, but I would personally recommend the salmon brushetta, the octopus salad, and the stuffed mushrooms. We finished off our meal with a tasty traditional Portuguese flan for dessert.
Finally, we found the staff to be very informative and friendly. Our waiter provided recommendations on wine, dishes and dessert that proved excellent.
Five star food, five star service.

We went there for a birthday... Food just kept coming and coming...and coming...there was a point I was afraid it would only stop of I raised a white flag. And when the food was over... There were still desserts!
Jokes aside if you go there prepare yourself for a food coma for less than 20 euros. I think it's a great place to go with friends and enjoy an evening out without paying too much money.
The quality of the food is good and all is traditional Portuguese food, just make sure not to eat too much at the beginning cos the desserts are very good too!

Muy buena comida, fuimos dos adultos y una niña y cenamos con 4 tapas, todas muy buenas, la que más nos gustó fue el moncorvao, hecho con alheira, embutido típico portugués. Con dos cervezas y un agua 24€. Relación calidad/ precio buena. El camarero muy atento y te explica todo lo que le preguntes. Carta en español.

Localizado num local central e histórico da cidade.
Os petiscos são de boa qualidade.
Interior com uma decoração antiga e rudimental que torna o ambiente acolhedor.
Não tem multibanco e os avisos estão postos de forma a que ninguém repare.
Trouxeram uma garrafa de vinho errada e não avisaram sequer que não tinham a que tinha sido pedida.
Atendimento muito básico.

Rundum gut und lecker. Wir haben Tapas bestellt. Als Vorspeise Oliven und Brot, 2 Tapas pro Person plus Patatas bravas. Der Kellner hat uns 2 Tapas empfohlen, die wir dann auch gewählt haben. Alles war schön angerichtet und hat super geschmeckt. Dazu haben wir eine Flasche Rotwein getrunken und anschließend noch ein Pannacotta, sowie eine Mousse au chocolat gegessen. Am Ende haben wir 57€ bezahlt. 2 Grappa gingen aufs Haus. Leider haben wir uns die Namen der Tapas nicht gemerkt, aber alles, was wir auch an den Nebentischen gesehen haben, sah super aus. Der Service war schnell, die Speisekarte gab es auch auf Englisch. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.

Had an incredible meal at this lovely restaurant. Found it while wondering the back streets, there was no disappointment. Everything was incredible. espectacular comida y una sangria de escandalo(grande). despues de hacer ruta por la zona antigua y universidades...al bajar nos encontramos con este encantador lugar para comer mui bien. las presentaciones y pecios son razonables y todo exquisito. la atencion ha sido correcta pero mejorable en cuanto a atencion en la terrazaa. sitio super recomendable. enorabuena a cocina!

Came here for lunch where we were immediately shown a table. It wasn't particularly busy but we were ignored for about 10 minutes while others that came after us we served. We left and went down the road to Fangas Mercearia & Bar which was excellent.

So deceaving. We ordered a salad, fries, spinash sautée, bruschetta and mushrooms sautée.We only receaved the salad, the bruschetta and the mushrooms sautée. After 1h30 we still haven't receaved the fries and the spinash sautée, so we decided to go and pay. The waiter told us there was strawberry in the salad so we decided to took it... Not one strawberry...the salad didn't taste much. For 2 glasses of wine and what we ordered it cost us 25$. They gave us 8,00 € in cents because there was no more cash in paper. It took like 7minutes to pay because there was no receipt.
So deceiving. Don't go there.

Great food. It's not the cheapest tapas restaurant but the waiters recommend to take only two so it's perfect. Quality is really good, I had chorizo, mixed salad and awesome little bags with bacon and cheese in it.
The waiters are super nice and the kitchen is fast. I'll recommend to go there and have dinner with a good glad of wine.
