Pero es que el sitio merece la pena, no entendemos eso de Portugal empezar para comer pan con manteca de preparatoria siempre a los platos , al parecer es típico de aquí, pero en este lugar después de 4 días de furgoneteo te puedo decir que es donde mejor se come, la ciudad es idílica para autocaravanas y playa, si vienes a quarteira no te lo pienses marrufo1 es la apuesta segura, lo típico pollo piripiri pero hay de todo, marisqueo etc etc

Basic looking restaurant, but excellent food! Also very good value! Half a chicken and chips for two, plus one tomato salad and two cans of drink for under 20 Euros! Will definitely go back!

It is a very cheap and always crowded place. Probably you will wait at least 20 minutes before having your seat. Food is quite good but it seems to be just another customer to be served fastly before someone is going to take your seat.....

My wife had the pork & clams and left feeling as sick as a pig. I said to the waiter that the pork was a dry and his reply was probably cooking for to long, I had the chicken which was best.

Probably the frango churrasco I have ever had. We got in right before the dinner rush, tons of people, both local and tourist. We sat on the patio and had some great people watching in that regard. We also happened to notice that the grills here service Marufo 2 across the a street, so if you are looking for churrasco, just go straight to the source. If your planning to eat here plan ahead, or time your visit because once packed people did wait 30-40 minutes for tables. On the plus side, you can grab a beer and bask in the delicious odor while you wait.

Typical algarvian "cantinha". Very good roasted chicken. A bit noisy and warm. Don't forget your cash, or take it from the ATM just outside the restaurant, they do not accept credit cards. Lacks of traditional Portuguese dessert (just 3 or 4).
"Cantinha" d'Algarve typique. Très bon poulet grillé. Un peu bruyant et chaud. N'oubliez pas de prendre de la monnaie, ou de tirer ce qu'il vous faut du distributeur juste devant le restaurant, car ils ne prennent pas la carte. Ça manque un peu de desserts traditionnels portugais (choix de 3 ou 4 seulement).

After a rather disappointing trip to the market we decided to walk to the beach. You know a place is special when the people in there are mostly local. Do not be put off by the fact that it looks like a 1970's truck stop. The half chicken meal at 7 euro was amazing. The smell of the charcoal rotisserie is intoxicating. Go there, do not hesitate to order. The fish is sea fresh and grilled to perfection. Paper table cloths, uncomfy seats and dodgy toilets. What more authenticity can you want! This place is about the food not the presentation. No heirs and graces here. Great value, great food, great staff, great company (even if you are on a bench table and have no clue what anyone is speaking about or to whom) just go there and thank me later.

Jackpot. Been coming to Marufo for years. Chicken and chips, tomato salad, beer, €20. What's not to like. Way better than the competition. You can't book unless you are a big group, but you don't have to wait long. Doesn't look much, but trust me, it's brilliant.

Love this place - were found this restaurant about 4 or 5 years ago - and have visited every holiday since (2 or 3 times a year) it's not a fancy restaurant but the food is lovely - you can see them cooking the chickens and they taste delicious. A Meal for two with wine is about 25-30 euro depending what you have. Great value for money. Definitely put it on your places to visit list!

Kenne das Marufo schon seit über 10 Jahren. Qualität ließ nach bei teurerem Preis. Medio Frango (1/2 Hähnchen) früher mit Pommes und Salat, kommt nun ohne Salat, Ketchup, Majo. Preis/Leistung gerade noch ok.

It’s a must go, if you’re ok with eating in an environment which is the antithesis of the swanky / touristy Algarve. €7 for half a chicken and chips, €2.50 for a large beer and it’s absolutely heaving with locals. There are two of them on opposite sides of the road and people were queuing out the door. Don’t wait to be seated, they just expect you to walk in and sit down, the rest will just happen. The food was excellent, and the service friendly and efficient.
Pro-tip: The chickens aren’t huge so 3/4 a chicken a head is more suitable for a hungry adult.

Fui buscar 2 frangos com batatas. Qual não é o meu espanto quando chego a casa e verifico que estão inteiros, nem sequer os partiram. As batatas fritas são uma miséria, gordurosas e pareciam ser os restos. Assados a pressa mal e porcamente.

If your on holiday, then this is a must, great on a budget, and the chicken is by far the best in town. Opens from 12 and general a short waiting time, so if it's busy don't worry.
As you can see by many of the reviews they are all similar so take a taxi and get munching on some of the best Peri Peri chicken you'll find

Ao passar lá vi aquilo cheio e pensei que seria algo bastante bom! Tivemos que sentar numa mesa aonde estavam pessoas desconhecidas! Havia pouca escolha! Basicamente só grelhados! Escolhemos frango pois pensamos que seria a especialidade! Ao reparar noutras mesas ,o nosso veio seco e sem molho! Ambiente muito barulhento e desorganizado! E um casal pagar 40 euros para comer frango!?!?! Achei um exagero! Não recomendo!

O funcionário Sr Antonio estava com clara falta de vontade em nos atender à mesa e respondeu com rispidez às nossas perguntas...
O frango assado (especialidade da casa) chegou à mesa quase frio e sem molho.

das absolute Knaller-Restaurant zumindest am Wochenende. Hier passen locker 150 Leute rein und die Spezialität des Hauses sind "plattgeklopfte" Hähnchen mit Pommes und Salatplatte....und man kann vor dem Restaurant in einem Vorzelt sehen wie sie gegrillt werden. Und lecker ....und wenn die vielen Einheimischen hier essen dann kann man sich auch auf die Qualität verlassen....

Checked website to ensure opening hours. All good. Paid €25 to get to Marufo from Albufeira for some chicken, and there is a sign on the door saying they are CLOSED FROM 15th!!!! Not happy, understandably. No indication of when they are re-opening either. Crossed road to try Marufo 2, no sign on door and all closed down.
It would be a good idea for you to put information to this end on your website.

It is true that their frango piri piri is good but I wouldn't say that it deserves all the hype it receives.
There are better places for piri piri on the Algarve, it's just that they are not so well known.
Overall it is very good, only spoilt by the the fact that some of the waiters give the impression that they really don't want to be there and are very surly.

Muito bom principalmente o molho das ameijoas e do camarão com alho e o franguinho muito saboroso o único problema é a espera de mesa mas mesmo assim não esperamos muito, um grande obrigado ao staff muito atenciosos apesar de estarem sempre muito ocupados.

Fantastic place, best Piri Piri in the algarve. Half chicken and chips 7€, bargain. Tomato and onion salad was really tasty. Nice bottle of house white wine and 4 desserts all for 60€ inc tip. Will be back for sure. Cash only restaurant

O frango é excelente. Provei o frango picante e fiquei bastante satisfeito, porém tive se esperar uma boa meia hora antes de ser atendido por ter tantos clientes.

Lo conocemos hace tiempo. Especialidad en pollo a la brasa. Por cierto la parrilla a veces da grima .... pero les sale el pollo muy bien. Las patatas caseras y tienen un piri piri para aliñar como es tipico de muchos sitios en portugal.
Tambien pedimos porco con almejas.
Lo mejor el precio.

Basic restaurant but very good food, if you like chicken or prawns. Get there early because it is usually full to capacity. Cheap and cheerful grub. Have a beer or wine with your pile of chicken. And have a tomato salad on the side

Simplicité à la Portugaise. Je recommande ce restaurant populaire, plats sur place ou à emporter, il est plein tout les soirs. Bonne rotation donc peu d'attente.
Il y a de vie dans cet endroit.
Les frites sont fraîches et excellente. . Allez-y pour y déguster leur spécialité, le frango "poulet" mariné et grillé à la sauce aux épices. Un vrai régal avec un bon vino verde (avec modération)
Seul bémol, la majorité des serveurs n'ont aucun sourire. Accueil peu enthousiaste. Bref en France ce n'est pas mieux
Cependant, il y 2 grands parkings pour garer l'auto. Top. Bon appétit

Un lieu typique portugais avec de grandes tables, comme une grande cantine où les gens se retrouvent autour d'un poulet cuit dans un barbecue géant. Ils sont moelleux à l'intérieur et croustillants à l'extérieur. Les frites sont faites maison et sont délicieuses !
Un repas du week-end qui vaux le detour !

Bonjour à tous. C'est un restaurant familiale qui sert une cuisine traditionnelle à la portugaise. On y mange très très bien. D'ailleurs, je conseille d'arriver avant 20h parce qu'il y a de l'attente. Je joins le ticket de caisse pour que vous jugiez vous-même les prix. On était 7 personnes.

Uma casa que não dispõe de multibanco não merece 5*, a comida foi servida rápida, apesar de estar o restaurante cheio, sente-se um tratamento um pouco diferenciado quando o cliente é Tuga ou Zuca e quando o cliente é outro estrangeiro um bocado mais caucasiano.

This is the place grown up chickens tell their children they'll go if they live a good life. It's chicken bbq, no nonsense, no frills, but my god it is AMAZING. It gets properly busy though and you can't book. Don't go if you want a sophisticated fine dining experience( go to marufo 2 across the road) Do go if you want to feed your kids on something they'll eat and where you'll enjoy it too. Did I say it's cheep?(sic). Oh and its cash only but they now have a cash machine there.

Sehr leckere portugiesische Küche! Das Hähnchen und die Sardinas sind tatsächlich richtig gut. Das liegt am Holzkohlegrill!!! Wunderbare Sache. Der Laden ist immer voll. Das Personal mal so mal so. Dennoch lohnt es sich!!!

Been there several times but last time the chicken was particularly nice, very crispy. I also tried the clams as a starter. Very tasty with lots of garlic. I tried up now 4-5 frango places in the Almancil/Vilamoura area but none can beat Marufo. Up to now!

Visito con mucha regularidad el Algarve; soy cliente habitual del Restaurante Marufo, pero lo de hoy es imperdonable. Cada vez que vamos notamos que los camareros van a peor, pero hoy ya ni nos dieron los buenos días. Normalmente un camarero toma nota del pedido y otro trae las bebidas, pero ninguno de los dos ni te mira ni te habla. Así no se debe atender a los clientes aunque tengas “muchos”; es verdad, está siempre lleno, pero eso no justifica de ninguna manera una mala atención.
Como siempre, los baños están sucios.
Lamento muchísimo que vayan por ese camino.

Don’t see what everyone else love about this place. It’s extremely noisy and crowded, the staff was stressed and not friendly at all. The food taste the same as it looks, the beef was quite nice, flavor of the chicken was okay (the breast meat was dry). And the prices isn’t extremely low for the area either, 7€ for 1/2 chicken and 9,5€ for the beef, 3€ for the tomatoes.

Exceptional.... Simple food cooked to perfection. This low key eatery is is only conspicuous by its queue. The prawns and chicken was simply exquisite. Frequented by locals and holidaymakers alike, the quality of their food is only matched by the quality of their prices. Pure class

Service was slow. I had to get up and ask for menus when we arrived. The chicken is excellent. However today I went for the pork ribs, which were 75% fat, and incredibly salty. We ate at Marufo 2 a few days earlier and the service was fantastic along with the food. A noticeable change for a restaurant only across the road...

Marufo is a portuguese institution. It has been in Quarteira for many years. It servers the traditional chicken piri piri, chips and salad algarve style. Cheap and good as well, something hard to find these days.

Repas copieux et délicieux ! Prix plus qu'abordable pour la quantité et la qualité !!! Mais, pour le service, ne choisissez pas le serveur d'une cinquantaine d'années au cheveux poivre et sel : pas un sourire, à peine poli et plus heureux de vous voir partir qu'arriver...!!! Fiquei 10 mim numa mesa a chamar empregados que me viraram a cara por diversas vezes, senti-me ignorado mas atenderem pessoas acabadas de chegar em menos de 2 mim e eu estar ali a acenar para o boneco por 10 mim... Não gostei fui embora perderam um cliente que vai lá todos os anos. Apesar de um serviço de mesa super sobrecarregado é a necessitar de melhorar sei por lá ter ido noutras vezes que a comida é muito boa e o peixe tem muito boa qualidade. Pena este serviço as mesas.

Péssimo restaurante, é tudo muito mau, pratos e talheres sujos, comida nada de especial e atendimento muito fraco. A esplanada apanha com o fumo todo dos grelhados, Ainda tentámos ficar numa mesa da esplanada mas era impossível com a fumarada e cheiro. Mais um restaurante no Algarve que só aceita pagamentos em dinheiro, não é admissível nos dias de hoje.
