We visited this place due to a recommendation, but we left disappointed. Although others in the restaurant this night were clearly not satisfied with the service, we had nothing to complain about on this behalf. However, the board of iberico ham was a variety of hams, none of which were iberico. The pizza we got tasted mainly of flour and our vintage wine was full of sediments. Sadly the visit did not meet our expectations.

I am very upset with the awful way I w
as treated at the wine barrels. I made an online reservation, however when I arrived the hostess lied to my face and told me it was closed, even though the restuarant was supposed to be open for the whole entire day. I then told her that I had a reservation and she said she would go and check and left my friend and I standing outside in the rain. Eventually we were let into the restuarant, where I saw several diners, meaning that the restuarant was not closed like she had said earlier.
After being seated we were left without menus for 15 minutes until I asked for them. We were ignored throughout our dinner, while the waiters served everyone else without the same issues.
I do not understand why we received differential treatment. The only difference between myself and the other diners is my race, since I am a black woman. I do not know if this is the reason for the horrible treatment, but I cannot think of any other reasons why the staff treated us in a different way than the other diners.
I will not be returning to this establishment.

Dans une ruelle, nous avons déguster de très bons vins portugais avec une planche de fromage/charcuterie. Le personnel est charmant et à l'écoute. Nous avons donc décidé de rester manger en terrasse. Les plats sont très bons! Je recommande vivement.

This place has two entries, front and back. When we went to the front entry the waiter didn't want to sit us, because he was saying that it's all reserved, but they had lots of sits available. I suspected racism from the waiter, but anyway, as soon as we went to the back entry, a friendly waiter sat us down. Suddenly they had sits.
We had a good time, even if it was cold outside. The food was good but small portion and rather expensive.
I had a bad experience there as I ordered a plate with spaghetti and shrimps and I couldn't believmy eyes when they brought a plate with boiled spaghetti and literally two shrimps on top. No salt, no sauce, nothing else. I complaint, as I would it that and pay 10 euros for it and the manager quickly solved the problem.

Auf Empfehlung des Restaurants Wine Box haben wir hier einen Tisch reserviert. Auch hier war kein Tisch frei und wir mussten warten..... Vorspeise Käse und Schinken sehr gut, Pizza als Hauptgang hervorragend! Die beiden Pasta Gerichte, Spaghetti Carbonara einmal mit Pilze einmal ohne, eine absolute Katastrophe. Die eine Cabonara total versalzen, die andere total verkocht und matschig. Nach der Reklamation der versalzenen, kamen Nudeln ohne Sauce, nach erneuter Reklamation kamen diese Nudeln einfach nur mit Olivenöl und Sahne darüber.... Erneute Reklamation und dann war der Hunger vergangen. Als Entschuldigung bekamen wir Portwein. Die Kellner sehr, sehr freundlich mit gutem Reklamationshandling. Eine Portion Nudeln sowie die Flasche Wein wurden von der Rechnung genommen. Fazit: super Vorspeise, super Pizza, freundliche Kellner jedoch zu unaufmerksamen, (3 mal nach der Rechnung gefragt) Pasta absolut nicht zu empfehlen! Vielleicht lag es am 1. Januar und alle waren noch nicht wieder fit

Beware it's not 1 free for all drinks. I took 2 porto & tonic and It wasn't included in Happy hour. After some complaints I had 75% discount on the second but It wasn't free.

Great service, lovely venue, mediocre food. A place that with a bit of work on the kitchen could be truly interesting, it just misses that level of quality of food that differentiates the good from the bad and the ugly.
The bread was stale, the salad had cucumber you could bend but not break and the cold meats were average and no more.
The wines were tasty, the service as good as it gets and with a river-front vista, this place has so much potential but is entirely let down by the kitchen

Buen sitio para cenar y tomar vino. Fueron muy amables desde el principio, advirtiendo que no tenían cerveza. Muy atentos en todo momento a todo lo que fuéramos necesitando. Cenamos unas pizzas y el precio fue correcto. Calle peatonal muy tranquila y muy agradable, cerca de la Ribeira, muy recomendable!

Tasty food, slightly odd service: tap water wasn't allowed as is "too salty" so had to have bottled (€) and neither of the two wines we ordered were available, which seemed strange for a restaurant with wine in the title. Food arrived very quickly, but tasted good.

Right off the main drag, the Wine Barrels is a good place to get some after dinner port, or pre-dinner glass of wine. The bartenders know their stuff, and like much of Porto the prices are spectacular for the quality wine you are getting. They appear to have outdoor seating if the weather is cooperating, but was not set up when we visited in January. Overall a great place to grab a drink.

Disappointed, silly tablet ordering system made it very impersonal and my olives never arrived. Pizzas looked lovely and started off nice but got crisper and crisper so a knife didn't go through it! Wine good.

GET THAT CARBONARA BOYS - best carbonara the group had ever had. Don't eat inside it's prangy. Bruschetta is an absolute smash, really oily in a good way. The house white wine is again a smash. Knocked one star off for slow service but when the carbs that good it's swings and roundabouts. Would recommend.

We got there on Friday night in July. Seemed like a good place. But service was slow, very slow. We asked to order food right away but they took so long. By the time they took our order there was no more pizza left. We ordered pasta. Finally it came. Awful food. They never served the salad we asked for. All around bad service and bad food. The wine was the only good thing.
Bad experience on our last night in Porto.
BTW, the pizza sauce has bacon so don’t assume vegetarian.

Pedro was our waiter and he was very hospitable! My friend and I aren’t from here so we weren’t sure which wines to get so we asked him for recommendations and he brought us so many options to try! He was very attentive and knowledgeable. We definitely recommend this place and plan on visiting again!

The best place in Porto to taste Portuguese wines! The food was delicious and the staff is gentle, the waitress is so nice. We discovered this place walking by the river and we fell in love with "thewine barrels". We are Italian so you can trust us.

Sehr nettes kleines Weinrestaurant. Es gibt leckere hausgemachte Pizza und wahnsinnig gute Pasta! Aber auch Fleisch und Fisch stehen auf der Speisekarte.
Wir haben den abend mit zwei Gläsern Wein, einer Pizza und einer Pasta Carbonara sowie einer kleinen Vorspeise mit 39 Euro auf der Rechnung ausklingen lassen.
Ich kann es nur empfehlen.

El peor sitio donde hemos comido en Portugal de momento. De lo que tardaban estuvimos a punto de irnos, y hubiese sido un acierto abandonar a tiempo...el camarero nos pidió disculpas diciendo que era un "error de comunicacion con la cocina" Y estabamos 4 personas en el comedor..ademas llevaba un manos libres para hablar con el resto de camareros etc, una broma....la ensalada de pera era para alimentar a un hobbit, y aun asi se quedaria con hambre. Sería media pera cortada como el papel de fumar, con una o dos hojas de lechuga y vinagre de modena, y parmesano tendría 2 gramos. El sitio muy acogedor, el servicio y la comida nefasta. Para recompensarnos nos dió dos copas de vino, pero aun asi, no se libran de esta reseña, ya que el precio de la comida era caro... PD: tarde 1 min en comerme la ensalada, o minuto y medio ya que mientras comia estaba jurando en ebreo.

A pasta bolonhesa é um molho enlatado esquentado. O espaguete é da pior qualidade. Calor no ambiente. Mas o pior de tudo é o péssimo atendimento. Jamais voltarei . Não recomendo.

Yes, it's a little slow. But the presentation into Porto wines was great for amateurs like us. And the micro sandwiches with salmon tasted wonderful. We are happy. Reasonable pricing. We have liked the place and our waiter and do recommend it for the first timers in Porto.

Visited last night for a cozy dinner in Porto. The atmosphere is lovely and, since we arrived around 9pm, we felt lucky to snag a table.
Then the problems started. We asked our server for a wine recommendation and she promptly chose a 40 euro bottle from a list of 15-18 red wines that ranged from 10-41.50 euros. When we asked for her 2nd choice -- hoping for something less expensive for our group -- she said "It is my favorite." and wouldn't give another suggestion. (Please keep in mind that this restaurant is supposed to support small family wineries from the Duoro Valley.)
When she asked for our meal orders, we chose one charcuterie board and five individual pizzas.
We never received the charcuterie board.
The pizzas arrived first a(one was incorrect, but the recipient was hungry, so ate it rather than wait again!) Since we'd finished the wine(waiting for the charcuterie board!!!) we quickly ordered another bottle. We waited 15 minutes for the second bottle and finally my husband caught our server's eye and started to ask about it -- but she was in an argument with a co-worker and held her index finger up to him and said "wait!" while continuing her argument.
The server did apologize while my husband paid the bill, but it was a disappointing dinner for our last night in Porto!

We were looking for somewhere vegetarian friendly, and stumbled into here when we saw pizza on the menu (always a safe bet for vegos!)
Little did we know it was also a winemaker with an extensive selection of white, red, rose and port wines. Both the food and wine was excellent.

Legit wine professionals here. I ordered a glass of something (honestly I had no idea—I just knew 2011 was a good year so I picked something from then) and all of the staff was tasting the wine, opening a different bottle, tasting that. Finally after almost 10 minutes of tasting wines they came over to explain that the one bottle was corked and they found a different vintage that they thought would be a suitable replacement. I really appreciated the dedication to the craft, as well as championing the small producers of the Douro Valley. Plus the meat and cheese board was pretty dope *and* they have vintage port by the glass! I will definitely come back or maybe visit their sister wine bar The Wine Box when I am in Porto again.

Wir haben dort gegessen. Das Essen wird zum Teil von ausserhalb gebracht ist in Summe aber lecker. Schwerpunkt italienisch. Dazu wird dann vom Personal der richtige Wein vorgeschlagen. Auch der Portwein Test ist gut und es wird dazu viel erklärt.

Un local precioso de dos plantas, estuve en la planta de arriba todo decorado en madera y con botellas de vino, tienen algo de picoteo, yo tomé un vino, me gustó que me asesorasen en cuanto a cuál escoger, la atención en general correcta, y, después de terminarlo, me dijeron si quería otro ya que, durante unas horas concretas, hacen dos por uno, aunque el precio de uno es como si fuesen dos en realidad.
