Delicious food, relaxed service - incredibly earnest and sweet. You will almost certainly need reservations for dinner - just drop by during the day and ask about that evening or the next.
We had the pork cheeks with a delicious chestnut purée & the lamb stew. Lots of small bones in the stew, but a richly flavoured broth and tender lamb, with no “lamby” aftertaste. Simple and fresh tomato salad. Good wine recommendation too.

Really enjoyable last meal in Evora. Service was great, the clams are a MUST. Absolutely delicious. The octopus tempura was also good. It’s a small place so advise to go for lunch or book a table for a dinner!

Ohne externe Empfehlung wären wir glatt daran vorbei gegangen. Wir haben uns bezüglich der Speisenwahl den Empfehlungen des Chefs hingegeben, was etwas kostspielig war, wir uns aber sofort wieder leisten würden, denn das Essen war von A bis Z ein Gedicht! Währschaft und von höchster Qualität!

It's mysterious how this place got this rating. Friendly people looking for a chance to rip you off. I ordered 4 items and ended up paying for 7 in the end.
You must clarify whenever he brings you small dishes that you did not order because they make it look or sound like they are on the house. For instance, he would bring you a small side dish asking, “Do you like this?”, or would just put it on your table without any word. When I asked, he simply said it would go nicely with my meal.
Agree that this place has a good ambiance, it's small and cozy, but food was extremely salty, except for the shrimp (which we did not order LOL).

Tenho pena de ter conhecido este restaurante só agora. Conheço bastantes restaurantes em Évora e posso dizer com certeza que é o melhor restaurante. Parabéns!

Octopus was good, cod confit was so-so. Small place with husband who serves, wife who cooks. Thought after dinner aperitif was complimentary due to long wait but actually we were charged for it.

The best food we have had so far in Portugal and we got here 3 weeks ago. The menu suggested by the owner was to die for (the octopus was outstanding). Very friendly and a cosy atmosphere made the whole meal a perfect experience!

Mała (kilka stolików) knajpka ale bardzo smaczne jedzenie. Kelner cały czas dyskretnie czuwa nad gościem. Polecam. Obiad z przystawka ok 25 euro

Un tout petit restaurant discret près de l'aqueduc. Le décor peut déconcerter avec ses dalles carrelées recouvertes des témoignages des clients heureux, mais l'accueil est simple et chaleureux. Ici, monsieur s'occupe des clients et madame cuisine. Le service est fait dans les règles de l'art : on peut s'attendre à de très bonnes recommandations en vin et celui-ci est servi avec attention. La musique, succession de tubes 80's, crée un contraste amusant. Côté cuisine, on fait quelques recettes en tempura, mais ce sont les recettes plus typiques de l'alentejo qui ont retenu notre attention, avec des produits frais et souvent en circuit court : le steak de filet de boeuf est un délice tant la viande est tendre, et le riz au poisson et fruits de mer est un passage obligé. Le gâteau aux amandes et à la courge de Siam, typique d'Evora, est une excellente découverte. Bref, nous sommes repartis heureux.

A comida é boa, doses pequenas mas muito bem empratadas. Preço médio por pessoa ronda os 20-25 euros. Há opções mais economicas e igualmente saborosas em Évora.

If you want to know how the Portugal taste, do not hesitate and book your table in this tiny family run restaurant. Many local dishes, prepared with a heart and love. Yes, it's a bit pricey but it's not overpriced for what you will get. We tried many restaurants on our journey through the Portugal and many of them charged us much more for very average quality dish, but this place is worth every cent you will spend here. That's why is always fully booked ;)

An amazing place, very small but a very welcoming restaurant. The staff, Miguel, was very nice. And the food was incredible, typical portugese cuisine. The local was curious because the walls were full of writings of opinions of old clients telling their experience, and of course all of them were positive. Definitely, a restaurant that you have to visit if you are in Evora. Although you should book beforehand because as said before, it’s very small and it only has 5 tables.

Muy atento el señor que regenta el lugar. Un lugar muy pequeño de apenas 5 o 6 mesas donde se destila la típica comida portuguesa . El precio a mi parecer un poco elevado .

Excelente restaurante. Pequeno mas bastante acolhedor. Comida com bastante qualidade, para saborear calmamente com as prestimosas dicas do proprietário, muito simpático também.
No caso como entradas foram umas gambas à bistro (agridoces), depois uns medalhões de porco grelhados e por fim um folhado de faisão e perdiz. Tudo bem empurrado com um tinto excelente (herdade do arrepiado velho).
Não é barato, assim como os pratos não são "generosos", mas é um daqueles locais que vale a pena ir de vez em quando, sobretudo para saborear boa comida num óptimo ambiente.

A cozy little restaurant with amazing food and very friendly host! We loved our dinner experience and the steak and fish soup were amazing! Thanks a lot for great food and experience!

Great food and very friendly local couple who run this lovely Bistro.
On the evening of our visit, we weren’t fuss on the variety of choices and we enjoyed to go for the chef special. But be prepared that this is a very small local place with very limited seatings and limited of choices of food and drinks. I hope that other reviews on here can understand these before rating this place. Finally, I agree that the price is leaning toward the pricey end of spectrum, still though I would recommend a visit if you are going as a couple. Big group is not recommended, due to the number of seatings.

Food is nice, just be wary of the very pushy service. We were pressured into buying things we didn't want.
The owner (I think) was serving, and he did a terrible job. We left feeling like we'd been scammed.
We were presented with bottle of wine, I asked for the wine menu, the server told me he didn't have one. At this point we should have walked out. He didn't offer us another option of wine. This was the bottle we were having whether we liked it or not. He went to open the bottle before I had agreed to have it. He then tried to give us a plate of meat we didn't order, we refused the plate and he looked a bit annoyed, tried to stick the meat back on the leg he'd carved it from before pressuring another table of customers to take it. This behaviour continued and when we finally managed to pay out 76 euro bill (for 2 people), we felt like we'd been robbed.
Not worth it, in my opinion.

Estupendo lugar con comida deliciosa. Probamos la sopa de garoupa, el pulpo en tempura y el bacalo. Todo muy rico y el trato del dueño muy cercano y familiar. Totalmente recomendable para hacer una parada de camino a Lisboa.

Small but high end, gourmet side street bistro run by a couple - she cooks, he serves. Selectively chosen wine for the entrees which are presented as a hand written menu of specially prepared choices for that day. English speakers should take the time to be sure they understand what they are ordering, how it is served. Attentive but leisurely paced service. Cash only, reservations are needed if you wish to dine there. Recommended.

If you are coming to Evora, you cannot miss the opportunity to eat here! Amazing food, friendly staff, very cozy. But make sure you book a table in advance, there are only 12 seats available in the restaurant.

One of the best restaurants we tried in Portugal. The place is tiny but the food splendid. We followed the owner’s advice (e.g. black pork cheeks as main, local wine) and were not disappointed. No wonder this restaurant was recommended by our hotel...

Cuisine exceptionnel. Il est mieux de réserver pour s'assurer d 'avoir de la place dans ce petit restaurant de 12 places. Toutes les petites attention sont mise dans chaque plat et dans le service. Les crevettes que nous y avons mangé restent dans mes meilleurs souvenirs culinaires de voyage!

Lovely cosy vegan-friendly restaurant with good music and attentive service. My husband had 3 regional dishes - melted sheep's milk cheese with croutes of bread, grilled fish and veg, almond and orange pudding and coffee. I enjoyed a simple salad of very fresh, crisp ingredients and delicious dressing. Then two grilled mushrooms with garlic. Finally a chunky soup of fresh tomatoes and rosemary with bread (in the soup) and potatoes. A wonderful meal, washed down with a cold white wine from the Alentejo region. Recommended, however our bill came to E72 which was a bit stiff compared with other places of similar standard.

Situado en el centro de Évora, un poco escondido pero merce la pena. Restaurante pequeñito atendido por sus propietarios. Destacaría la autenticidad de su cocina, sin remilgos ni pretensiones. Pulpo en tempura, arroz con liebre y queso de cabra, todo extraordinario, carta de vinos alentejanos, déjate llevar por las sugerencias del dueño. Muy recomendable. Tengo que volver con amigos.

We were here for dinner, the Bistro was recommended by staff at the hotel Albergaria do Calvario (great place by the way). We were not disappointed. Come early or book ahead as the place is small, only room for about 12-14 people. My wife had the fried octopus and I had the filet of beef, both we well presented and excellent. The hosts we very friendly and made you feel at home. Will come back the next time i'm in Evora.

The service and dish presentation was excellent. However nothing was really tasty. We took a owner suggestion and ordered a fish soup (was good to have on a rainy day) and black pork (the chef speciality) which was just meh....the wine was good,but way too expansive for this region. There wasn't any kind of menu available, so, if you do not speak a Portuguese, you have to choose between "fish, pork or cow", without knowing anything about the dishes or prices. As a result, we paid for our standard meal (1 app. , 2 èntries, and a bottle of wine), exactly twice more than for any other meal for the last ten days
