I went to the A1 level to began my adventure in the discovering of the portuguese language. Thanks to Joana and her method, I got great progresses in a short time. Going to class can be fun! My teacher Joana put all ingredients in, that make it a pleasure to learn Portuguese. She is passionate about teaching and about language and is a very nice person. She challenges her students and assured that there is a right mix between listening, writing, speaking. The method Joana uses is supportive to that and appeared to provide far more learnings than I thought at first glance; it gave me a surprisingly good base to move on to another level. I (native from Holland, 68 years old) took course A.1 and plan now to digest the course material in full while adding to it by self study. Then, in a few months from now I will take A.2; I like to that again with 2 or 3 other students because the interaction between a few people helps me to learn. I like that my type of class is in the evening, 2 times per week 2.5 hours. A good balance between intensity and study at home. Thanks Joana - until soon!

Extremely friendly efficient flexible professional. Just finished A1 with Joana and can't wait to start the A2. Nothing is a hassle for her. She doesn't just teaches from the book but also shows the everyday use of the language. Really enjoying to attend to her classes.

Hello! My experience was incredible! Joana is a very nice and profesional teacher, she has a high interest in her work and I increased my Português level in few lessons. I’m Spanish and I hired a private pack for 5 lessons, and I think it’s worth too much. I need to learn English because I’m going to work here, and Joana took time to look for especial vocabulary, thank you Joana, I’ll see you as soon as possible!

My wife and I retired to Porto and live just north of Matosinhos. We researched several language schools and choose Escola Caravela for its location and class schedules. I feel extremely blessed to have found this school and my professor. Joana is professional and eager to challenge me since I have not had any previous language training. I highly recommend this school and Joana if you are needing English to Portuguese help.

I would recommend Escolar Caravela. I have been studying with Joanna for just over a year. She is a great teacher, enthusiastic and motivated. She has also been willing to support my different learning styles and has brought a creativity and fun to the lessons. Her teaching style allows me to be relaxed and enjoy the lessons and at the same time I am challenged into deepening my learning. I have also found their standard curriculum and worksheets to be really good, with a great mix of written and verbal exercises. There is also a good balance between new material and repetition. Its a great school and I am confident that anybody learning Portuguese with escolar caravela will have a enjoyable and fun experience while learning a Portuguese. Mark Manchester

I am doing my second intensive course (A1+2 level) now with caravela and my experience so far is really great. Within a short time period I can already understand conversations at work and outside, read and write, all of which makes my daily life much easier. Additionally, compared to other language courses, also to university courses, the price-quality ratio is by far better and the teacher is very motivated and highly professional. The small courses with max. 3 students is ideal for me as it ensures a very individual training. Also, they use different learning strategies and not only the book. For instance flash-cards to remember new vocabularies easy and efficient already during the class. Whenever I have questions either on grammar or problems with the pronunciations of new vocabulary I am getting the help needed. All in all, I can highly recommend Caravela if you want to learn Portuguese.
