Open since 1995, this wine shop on the river banks has a great view over the old town. All the wine range and merchandising from Quinta do Noval is available. Wine flights and wine by the glass too. Great spot to relax and taste, specially if you get a seat outside :)

Location is AMAZING, but the service is rubbish. After taking a seat it took ages to get served (and only then because we flagged down a waiter). The explanation of the tasting was extremely high level and sub par. The wind blew a glass off our table at the front of the terrace and it was not cleaned until we left half an hour later, leaving glass at our feet for an extended period. The port was good, and cheaper than Sandemans next door, but the service ruined the experience.

Nice place for reasonably-priced port with great views and informed staff. Some of their port flights are very expensive in my opinion (for vintage or reserves) but a normal glass of port is really reasonable around €3.50 and well worth the visit to try a few.

We had a few glasses of Porto here. The staff is extremely friendly, educated and helpful, which made it easier to pick the right drink for the right moment. The outdoor has an unbeatable view of la Ribeira. We paid 9€ for 2 glasses, which is quite expensive but when in Porto... you have got to do this at least once. Next we'll just order a full bottle!

Tomamos unas copas de Oporto en la terraza. La vista es agradable y los camareros muy educados y alegres, te explican todo y te ayudan a decidir. Nos pareció un poco caro (sirven muy poquito), pero los vinos estaban muy buenos. Pagamos 9€ por las dos copas.

Pour moi la maison de Porto qui donne toutes ses lettres de noblesse à ce soyeux breuvage... Les millésimés sont surprenants!

After having visited Kopke wine house for a Port tasting we were left a bit disappointed so looked around for somewhere else for another glass. Decided this place looked much more welcoming and we weren’t disappointed. The girl who served us was very knowledgable and gave us detailed descriptions of everything and answered the lots of questions that we asked. We left feeling sorry that we weren’t capable of staying for more. The Ports were very delicious!

You can get a 5 portos tasting experience with explanations from the nice and knowledgeable waitresses for just about the same price (actually a couple of euro less) as if you order them singularly. Im no expert but these Quinta do Noval portos are amazing. Must try.

The only negative aspect, as most of the places in Porto, is that they do not accept card. Nonetheless, great experience and amazing staff.

Después de media hora esperando nos atienden, intentando vendernos un pack que en varias ocasiones rechazamos. Vuelven a tardar media hora, con lo cual decidimos irnos. Nos increpan porque los vinos están ya preparados (en su cocina supongo, porque a la mesa no llegaron), y que tenemos que pagarlos. Nos levantan el tono de voz. Por supuesto se los pagamos y nos vamos. Por supuesto se los pagamos y no volveremos.

Helpful staff, great port. Beware, flights are 5cl glasses so be prepared if you're having one to yourself! Also, they have no cheese or anything to eat while tasting, which is a bit weird. But, great experience anyway!

We stopped in for the good selection of flights and reasonable prices. My boyfriend and I are amateurs with port wines, and enjoyed the varieties they had to offer. They don’t have (much?) food selection, but included a few complementary crackers with a flight. We opted to create our own flight by ordering glasses of 5 wines, which totaled 17€. If you get the cheapest tasting flight, it comes with a pricier vintage, at around 21€. Cons: Service was VERY spotty. The waiters were nice enough but very disorganized. Larger parties (all more than 4 people) got served quickly while smaller parties(2 ppl, including ourselves) took a very long time to serve. We weren’t really in a rush, but the very slow service was noticeable. For the whole ordeal, we spent about 1.5 hrs, 45 min of which was spent waiting for the wines. It took about 20 min to get noticed after asking for a menu, another 5 min to get a menu, 15 min to order, and 15 min until pour. In that span of time, 2 tables got such poor service that they got up and left. At the same time, other tables that arrived after us ordered and were served before we got our own wines. Either this place needs to remove some tables, or add some waiters, because they cannot handle the number of parties that sit down at a given time. This place has notably poor service and is losing a great deal of business with its poor service and could do with major restructuring improvements.

This was the second house we went for a Porto tasting. You get a person assigned who informs you about the Port they sell, in our case it was a very friendly and helpful young lady who's English was just short of perfect. She seemed very knowledgeable and was very eager to inform you about all the interesting quirks and features their Port has to offer. You can taste in packs but the price is the same as if you would taste per glass. A glass of 40 year old Port is a bit over 16 euros for example. You get crackers to clear the taste between glasses. We bought about 270 euro worth of Port but you still pay for the tasting. You would think they would drop or reduce it, but this is a minor complaint. So one of the better Port houses in Porto and a great experience. Recommended!

Paolo hosted us at this refreshingly cool site on the beaten track. She was as refreshing in her description of the variety of wines as well as super worldly about marketing a good name. The Noval Black is as good and rich as one could imagine. But, Paolo was the real .

Nice small tasting room, polite staff and yummy port, I thought the white was a particular stand out!

Senza disturbare il Nacional perché gioca un campionato a parte, questa famosissima cantina e' sicuramente la migliore. I loro vini non sono mai banali, ne stucchevoli, ma raggiungono la perfezione dopo pochi anni e la mantengono per molto tempo. La bodega adiacente il punto vendita è fornitissima e la visita alla cantina e ben strutturata.

Comida excelente, una carta de vinos muy buena y a precio muy buenos pero el gerente del local (camisa de cuadros) muy borde, le explicamos que no queríamos vino de Oporto y por el idioma no nos entendio. Se lo volvimos a decir y dado que le estábamos cambiando el plan que tenía ya durante toda la noche nos ignoraba y nos trató fatal. Un tío que no vale para ser gerente.

Ottima vinoteca! Staff molto gentile e accogliente, spiegazione in Italiano ottima...ho assaggiato più di tre vini molto buoni. Ho mangiato anche della cioccolata al pistacchio davvero squisita! Esperienza assolutamente da non perdere se si visita Porto. Quinta do Noval assolutamente consigliata.

If you are a port afficianato you may be disappointed. Traveling all the way to Porto for a sampling of good ports at one of the port wine houses. It is principally great towards the average tourist. Next time I'll go to a vineyard and see if it's better.

본인은 해질녘 풍경과 함께 밥을 먹고 싶어 돌아다니다가 그냥 이뻐 보이는 곳 찾아 들어갔던건데 알고 보니 식당이 아니라 와인 바였음 아 평소에는 구글맵으로 먼저 알아보고 앉는데 오늘따라 너무 배고파서 일단 앉아버렸던거임... 아뿔싸. 하지만 남자가 가오가 있지 그냥 공복에 와인 좀 맛보면 어때 바로 5가지 와인 테이스팅 할 수 있는 메뉴 시킴 근데 와인이 너무 맛있음 풍경도 이쁜데 와인 맛도 이쁨 게다가 직원들 친절도까지 이쁨 3박자가 골고루 이루어진 아름다운 가게였음 심지어 이미 영업종료 시간이 지났는데 본인 와인 다 먹을 때까지 암말 안 하고 기다려줌.. 중간에 눈치 보여서 마지막 와인 잔은 좀 빨리 마시긴 했음 7시30분이면 영업종료니 미리미리 가서 여유롭게 마셔보시길 바랍니다

The place is nicely decorated with some videos from the wineyard. Despite I got recommendation that they might have more “normal” wines, actually they had only one for tasting. The rest people can buy and bring home for really reasonable prices. Finally We decided to have tasting of 5 wines included 40 years old Tawny Porto. Bit more expensive experience I planned, but it was worthy the money. I liked also lady and her ability to talk about winery with passion. You immediately see that she likes her job.

Proeverij is absoluut de moeite. 6 (port)wijnen voor een zeer schappelijke prijs en een waanzinnig vriendelijke en enthousiaste bediening!

This was not planned but as the heavens opened, we dived in here for cover and a drink. Now seated, we decided for two flights, starting with a delicious white, then onto two ruby's, a tawny and finally a 40 year old. The atmosphere was joyful, the staff excellent. A most enjoyable afternoon, albeit a bit boozy, which made the walk up the hill to the hotel was far easier!

Good ports but no options for just a glass of vintage port; you have to buy a bottle or do one of the tasting flights in order to taste a vintage port. They did however have a colheita by the glass and their 20 year old tawny is very nice indeed, with a wonderful cocoa and leather nose, at a fairly reasonable price of €8.50 a glass.

Ein Portweinerzeuger aus der Region. Natürlich besser als Sandeman, aber nicht besser als Vasconcellos. Leider gibt es hier kein klassisches Tasting. Man muss normale Portionen bezahlen und such trinken. Wer viele verschiedene testen will, ist auf diese Art besoffen. Schade.

Excellent tasting session. Just go and ask for tasting. The staff are so welcoming and helpful and on top of that the port is wonderful. I would particularly recommend the Novel Black....delicious.

Probamos el vino lágrima y estaba riquísimo.

Fuimos porque teníamos una degustación y pese a ser dos personas nos pusieron un par de vasos con menos de un sorbo de vino lo que impedía apreciar el vino. Aprovechando los precios bajos optamos por comprar un blanco dulce por muy buen precio (9,30€) y así poder por lo menos catar en condiciones uno de los vinos. Pese a ello no nos quisieron ser en el lugar y tuvimos que tomarlo fuera de la terraza lo que resta puntos a este lugar.

Pasabamos por el lado de las bodegas de Oporto y decidimos entrar en un sitio para probar unos vinos tipicos. Decidimos entrar en Quinta do Noval y a pesar de ser un sitio bastante moderno y bonito me he sentido un poco engañada con la cata. 39,90 euros por persona cuatro vinos, eso si, uno valía 25 euros la copa, pero no nos dieron más opción que esa, ni nos preguntaron si queriamos probar algun tipo especifico (tinto o blanco)... Además preguntamos si era para dos personas, y siendo la respuesta afirmativa, solo ponen un único vino a compartir. Otras mesas alrededor tenían mas tipos de vinos y copas para cada cliente. La chica (que fue del todo correcta) no nos informó muy bien.

Wonderful experience at Quina Do Noval. We were served by a super friendly and helpful man named Hélder. He knew all the details about every wine and was all around a very happy and kind person. We sat outside drinking wine for about 3 hours and he was always there for us with a smile. The wine was amazing and I highly recommend going here.
