The Serralves museum is the most important museum in Porto and has an extensive collection of contemporary art. It also enjoys regular exhibitions that draw some 300,000 visitors each year.

Jak zaimponować mieszkańcom Porto? Możecie na przykład powiedzieć, że wiecie kim jest Álvaro Siza Vieira. Dlaczego jest to dla nas ważna osoba? Siza Vieira urodził się w tuż obok Porto i zdecydował się na studiowanie architektury na tutejszym uniwersytecie, gdzie następnie wykładał, mając wpływ na późniejsze pokolenie portugalskich architektów. Jego uczniem był, między innymi, Souto Moura, który tak jak on wygrał nagrodę Pritzkera: ponieważ obaj pochodzą z północy Portugalii jesteśmy z nich tu niezwykle dumni. Dodatkowo, Siza Vieira jest członkiem Amerykańskiej Akademii Sztuki i Nauki oraz honorowym członkiem Królewskiego Instytutu Brytyjskich Architektów: jednym słowem jest to miejscowy szycha!
Gdy po Porto oprowadzam architektów, często proszą oni o wskazanie na mapie budynków projektowanych przez tego architekta. Wśród nich znajdują się Wydział Architektury w Porto oraz niesamowita restauracja zawieszona na skale nad oceanem zwana Casa de Chá da Boa Nova. W lecie sugeruję, by architekci odwiedzili Piscinas de Marés, czyli baseny, które Siza zaprojektował na plaży nieopodal Porto: wspaniale wpasował je pomiędzy skały, a wykąpać można się w nich w wodzie z oceanu! Jeśli jednak brakuje czasu na te wszystkie atrakcje najprościej jest po prostu zobaczyć Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves, czyli Muzeum Sztuki współczesnej. Sam w sobie budynek jest dziełem sztuki, a kupując pełen bilet mamy jeszcze wstęp do cudownego parku, kolejnego budynku zwanego "Casa de Serralves" oraz "Treetop Walk", czyli spaceru po drewnianych kładkach umieszczonych pomiędzy koronami drzew.

Woeful. Bought a ticket for the museum and gardens. No one was checking tickets for the garden. Seemed like a con, you can walk around them freely. Staff seemed completely disinterested. Very disappointing.

Everything is great, exept the Vila " The casa " It was, just à succession of empty room. You can't call everything art.
There is a farm on the park and a lake. Beautiful animals are there. They seems to be really good treated.

뮤지엄도 흥미롭지만 공원이 정말 멋져요. 알바로 시자의 건축물을 찾아서 갔지만 아름다운 공원에 더 반했어요. 여기에서 보내는 몇시간이 아깝지 않습니다. 포르투에 간다면 꼭 들려봐야 할 곳입니다.

Before complaining about the Boss - The Museum and the Exhibition was Top !!!!
Now to the Boss....
We want to visit The Museum & The House... the guy, which was very friendly, told us that the House is closed so we bought Tickets for the Museum and The Park...
after my question when want to leave the Museum about the TeaHouse,
the girl told us that is in The House and we need Ticket ... so i tried to explain it to her, that i wanted a Ticket for the House & the Museum- but all she could say is that I bought the wrong Ticket ...
After i told this the guy, who understand that its not my fault,
He tried to explain it to the Boss on the Phone ... but all i get is a Sorry ....

The gardens looked fantastic from the outside but unfortunately closed in preparation for a festival. We decided to visit the museum instead but the aggressive attitude of the man on reception was so unpleasant we decided to spend our euros somewhere else. We can't be fluent in every language of the countries we visit.

Avec un groupe d'amis ( 6 personnes), nous avons effectué une visite guidée le samedi 18 mai à 10h30 et nous aimerions vous faire part de nos remarques :
- Nous avons été très surpris de ne trouver exposée aucune oeuvre d'artiste portugais exceptée l'exposition temporaire. Quelle déception !
Sur votre site, il est indiqué que vous possédez 4300 oeuvres !!!
Est-ce la bonne façon de faire connaître l'art portugais?
- Nos amis, amateurs d'art et familiers des musées internationaux ont été abasourdis par le prix payé pour cette visite guidée (315 € incluant le prix d'entrée).
- Nous tenons toutefois à souligner la qualité du travail de notre guide, compétente et sympathique .
Nous espérons que ces remarques seront prises en considération et contribueront ainsi à l'amélioration du l'image et de la réputation de votre musée.

Quite interesting Contemporary Art Museum. What makes it good is a combination of the building itself, the garden, the Villa and exhibitions - (unfortunately) exhibitions alone wouldn't be enough. Nevertheless, there are art pieces / installations that stand out from the rest. You should find few occasions to ask meaningful questions.

Nice gallery space and fantastic Joana Vasconcelos exhibition. Shame there were about half a dozen school trips and no effort made to control them. Couldn't really appreciate the artworks so went out in the gardens to avoid the noise and crowding. Not sure if it's always like that or we were just unlucky but it would have been nice to be informed before we splashed out €30 on tickets.

Inserido no famosíssimo Parque de Serralves, este museu contém de um espólio muito interessante, e apresenta regularmente exposições muito procuradas. Não é direcionado para todos os tipos de públicos, mas apenas para aqueles que apreciam obras de arte mais "fora da caixa".

Musée contemporain : c'est très spécial, il faut aimer...
Parc : très beau, grand avec un bel étang et un passage en bois vraiment sympathique
Maison : bizarre ... il faut aimer
Musée du cinéma : original, unique, j'ai beaucoup apprécié
Ferme : très sympathique, amoureuse des animaux j'ai adoré (poule, cochon, vache, âne...)
Je recommande si l'on est étudiant ou senior car payé 20€ c'est excessif pour ce qu'il y a

Love the architecture of the building and the open spaces within. Every piece of art gets the deserved space. I get claustrophobic quicky if rooms are fully stuffed with objects and too many people. Not here. It's great. The gardens are lovely too, as is the art deco house.

Museum voor moderne kunst mét een enorm park waar je de hele dag doorheen kan dwalen. Toegangsprijs is niet goedkoop, maar de normaal geprijsde horeca compenseert dat, als je iets wil eten of drinken.

Not worth the hight ticket. You pay for the entrance to the main building, if you want to see the park you have to pay extra, if you want to see other buildings you have to pay extra. The exhibition on the mail hall was too poor. No permanent collection. It is too expensive for what you get. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends

정원과 건축물 구경이 제일 재밌었고, 진행중인 전시는 그냥 그랬다. 아래층 카페도 디저트 맛있음. 관광지에서 좀 떨어져서 머리도 식히고 한가롭게 거닐다 가기 좋은듯. 학생증이 있으면 전체 입장권 10유로에 살 수 있어요.

Unless you are a major art fan you will find this museum peculiar, but amusing. The exhibition we saw includes car tyres stuck to plyboard which didn't seem to say much except that it is possible to stick car tyres to plyboard.

beware that getting the full ticket will put you in a situation that you have to walk around the whole collection and museum and farms it gives you a full access but it also takes up to three or three and a half hours. The whole thing consists of modern art museum and sinema museum and and The Rock museum an old parts of the palace plus farms for fruits and animals and vegetables and herbs.

I am not experienced if it comes to contemporary art, but I have to say I enjoyed visiting this outstanding complex of buildings. Price of the tickets at the first glance seem to be pretty high, but it is totally worth it. 20€ for all buildings, 12€ for just a museum. Teenagers 13-18yo, seniors >65yo and students have 50% discount. Exhibitions differ quite much from each other and I am sure that everybody can find something for him/herself. Must-see attraction in Porto!

1992년 프리츠커상을 수상한 포르투갈의 건축가 알바루시자가 1997년에 완성한 미술관입니다. 정원, 전시장, 까사 등 전 구역을 관람할 수 있는 통합권(제너럴 티켓)이 20유로, 전시장과 정원만 보거나 특정 구역만 볼 경우(세퍼레이트 티켓) 각각 12유로입니다.(2020.1.26기준)낯선 작가들 사이로 알바루시자의 작품 전시가 2월 초까지 진행되고 있어 좋습니다. 정원도 아름답고 공원 곳곳에서 특별전도 진행되고 있어 어느 것 하나 소홀한 것이 없는 훌륭한 박물관입니다. 그 외 시설은 바, 레스토랑, 도서관, 서점, 기념품 및 인테리어 소품 등을 판매하는 겹이 있습니다. 한국과도 인연이 있는 알바루 시자를 좋아하는 분이라면 다녀오시면 더욱 좋은 곳입니다. The museum was completed in 1997 by Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza who won the 1992 Pritzker Prize. An integrated right to view the entire area (general ticket) including the garden, exhibition hall, and the casa is 20 euros, and 12 euros each for showrooms and gardens or for certain areas (seperate tickets) (based on 2020.1.26 basis) is under way through early February. The garden is beautiful and there are special exhibitions going on all over the park, so it is a great museum where you have not neglected anything.

Personally found it overrated, and not worth the price of the ticket(s). The museum itself is much smaller than I expected, and only the Art Deco house seemed cool-ish to me. This place is super overhyped on Instagram. Also, the website states that it offers free entry on the first Sunday of the month - but does not mention that this only applies to Portuguese citizens.

Loved this museum and the grounds. You can easily spend half a day out here. My favorite part was the pink house and the pools and gardens around it. The art is okay here but the space is amazing. It isn’t a cheap museum but worth the admission! They offered a senior discount. This is a stop along the route of the major tourist buses.

Wildly overrated and overpriced, at least for the museum portion. Came on a rainy day so couldn't do the gardens well, but the museum itself is easily among the very worst modern art museums I have been to. Little to no explanation of the pieces aside from maybe a line of confused description at the entrance. Very few actual exhibits despite the massive floor space, instead favouring to do a handful of giant ones; an idea that sounds good until you realise that they don't actually do anything with the space beyond repeating a single uninteresting thought ad naseum. Skip if you value your money or time.

I HAD TO CLIMB OVER YOUR GATE TO GET OUT!
You closed early on December 31st and you locked me inside.
Many people did not know that, this also includes another guy who was also stuck there. We wandered the inside of your park unable to get out. Nobody was around to help.
He was much older and we parted ways as he wandered his own way through the park.
5 stars for the art though. Nice park you got there. There was a friendly cat that liked to be pet, so that’s cool.
Thanks for the fun travel memory. But once again, I had to literally climb your gate to leave!

Primeiro domingo de mes é de balde!
É un museo precioso, a exposición que vimos non me gustou demasiado pero paga a pena o prezo da entrada simplemente por estar dentro deste edificio, do mesmo arquitecto ca o CGAC de Santiago de Compostela, espazos brancos e amplos. O restaurante tamén está moi ben, aínda que non comimos alí vimos que había buffete familiar por 26€ (2 adultos e 1 neno/a).
Ten algún banco para descansar polo camiño da visita interior pero non abundan.
O xardín é espectacular, aínda que fai falla moito tempo para visitalo todo… ou varios días!

It is a very welcoming place with a joyful market place where you find the authors of the products that are being sold, there’s a beautiful garden throughout the museum, the buildings have such a strong identity in a contemporary architecture design in pure white walls in the exterior in harmony with the green trees that surround them. Many well built installations from great artists from around the world that will indulge you into a serene atmosphere. There’s a small but nice bar and a library with amazing books for you to read. There are also festivals from time to time.

The 12 euro entrance ticket includes the garden and the exhibitions. I was impressed by the way they organized and displayed the architect's work and archives with his drawing books, photos and architectural models. I didn't like the conceptual art there as much, though. I recommend that you visit the library with the ticket and spend a good afternoon there, reading nice art books. The garden is just perfect for a peaceful promenade.

Los espacios están muy bien y sobre todo vale la pena el parque, del museo vale la pena ver lo de Álvaro Siza pero por las otras exposiciones no hubiera pagado nada, si está algo caro (20 euros)
El parque te va llevando más allá y de repente llegas a sentir que estás en otro lugar, una lástima que no pueda ser parque público porque vaya que si hacen falta árboles en la ciudad

Unfortunately very disappointing. Nice architecture but uninspiring curation and very few highlights at the collection exhibition.
Restaurant advised to avoid as well, unless you love pork. For vegetarian or people who don't eat pork, the "deal" of 16,50 for buffet is not worthy.
Same goes for 20,00 entry for all facilities - just go to the park part and art deco Villa - that's truly beautiful

Le parc est magnifique, il faut prendre le temps de découvrir toutes les allées et toutes les essences. Quelques oeuvres sont disséminées ça et là dans le parc.
Les oeuvres exposées dans le musée sont intéressantes. Le bâtiment est beau. Attention, l'entrée du musée se fait par le côté. Ce n'est pas très bien indiqué. Attention, la casa Serralves est fermée en ce moment. On ne peut la voir que de l'extérieur lorsqu'on visite le parc. C'est une magnifique bâtisse années 30. Je n'ai pas d'infos concernant sa réouverture au public.

Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen, man kann hier fast den ganzen Tag verbringen!
Neben dem Museum selbst gibt es im riesigen Garten die fantastische Artdeco Villa, ein Baumwipfelpfad, Cafe am alten Tennisplatz usw.
Im dem großen Park sind noch viele Kunstwerke zu finden.
Das Mittagessen (Buffet) war sehr lecker und preiswert, sowas würde ich mir in Deutschland wünschen...

The contemporary art museum was a lot of drawings and architecture, rather small for the price we paid and the expectations, plus some other work that did not impress us at compared to other such places visited. The park however is wonderful. The villa, included in the overall ticket, was closed. Not as good as we expected..

한적하고 평화로운 공간입니다. 티켓은 세퍼레잇티켓과 일반티켓으로 나눠져있는데 부분부분 볼 수 있는건 각각 12euro입니다.

This is one of my favourite places to visit in Porto, I go there there everytime I'm in town, but yesterday I was very disappointed. First they ask me if I was resident in Portugal, when I said no (even though I'm Portuguese), they said they had to charge me 2 Euros more for the ticket. After buying the ticket for the museum and garden I was stopped by the entrance to the tree walk, apparently the ticket to the garden does not include this new installation but no one informed me at the desk, and so isn't the new Cinema house. I would assume that at least the tree path would be part of the garden!
I'm honestly embarrassed for my country, trying to exploit the tourist any chance they have. I'd like to know the arguments from the museum for these actions. It's a shame! Totally overpriced!
Another little incident is that walking into the museum exhibition at 5.15pm, no one informed me that the museum was closing one hour earlier then in the summer (now closing at 6pm). I was just starting to see the Siza Vieira exhibition, which was the main reason for my visit, when the lady told me they were closing in 4 min! Of course I didn't see most of it and was very disappointed. It would have been nice to be informed at the entrance so I could have planned my visit better. Sometimes saving the best for last doesn't pay off!!

The modern art museum was just okay. The value was not good. We felt like we paid too much €26 (even with the discount from the Port Card) for what we saw. It's not a very big museum. Some parts were closed off. We enjoyed the the grounds and gardens much more. The best part was the Treetop Walk. Bottom line: save your money, look at the photos online.

Nous avons fait le parc et le musée pour 12€ (pour info c'est 20€ pour le complet sinon minimum 12€ pour le parc et un des trois bâtiment). Nous n'avons pas trouvé le prix en adéquation avec la quantité d'oeuvres proposées, des salles étaient en maintenance et aucune indication n'était en Français c'est dommage. Concernant le parc qui est effectivement grand il est dans un couloir de transport aérien et l'entretien général ne vaut pas certain jardins des plantes gratuits.

Caro pela qualidade da experiência que oferece. Primeiro que comprar meu ingresso e fui atendida por um funcionário do Museu extremamente rude. Segundo que metade do museu estava em troca de exposições, sobrando apenas pouquíssimas obras. Absurdo. Casa também não possui nada que se sobressai, apenas uma casa bonita. Vale a pena pelos Jardins, mas talvez um passeio a um parque gratuito vale mais a pena. Muita coisa linda para se ver no Porto. Este local não é uma delas.

A magical place to wonder around and be in touch with nature while appreciating some art.
You can also find interesting art exhibitions that will be changing along the year.
A cafe, a buffet restaurant and a tea house will give you the change to enjoy something to eat and drink at any time if day.
There is also the famous Manoel de Oliveira's Cinema House to be marveled with. But my favourite is Manoel's Art Deco's House, the structure and photos of how it was decorated before are dreamy. Enjoy it as much as possible!

전시와 정원 모두 관람하는데 18유로. 막상 내부 전시는 별거 없었어요. 임시 안내문이 전시장 입구에 세워져있고 양해 바란다는 문구가 있어 구경하지 못한 전시가 많았습니다.
정원이 굉장히 넓은데 저는 임산부라 정원의 1/3 밖에 보지 못했어요. 굉장한 체력을 요할 만큼 크니까 참고하세요!
전시가 몇 없어 가격대비 아쉬운 곳이었지만, 알바로 시자의 건축물을 본 것에 의미를 둡니다.
상벤투역에서 우버로 6~7유로 나오며, 10시 오픈 맞춰갔더니 아주 한적했어요.

Architecture intéressante mais qui a un prix, financier dans un premier temps (dans les 10€ pour étudiant en septembre 2019) et mental dans un second temps quand on est un peu hermétique à certaines œuvres d'art contemporaines (ne comptez pas sur les explications)
En tout cas, ça vous occupera un moment, le parc est vraiment très grand et il y a 2 autres lieux de visite inclus
Gros bonus pour la maison de thé dans le parc à prix très abordable et au cadre fort apaisant

This is the Shame of modern art museums.
18€ for the visit, museum almost empty with the vast majority of the rooms not available due to renovations. The contemporary art wing was also closed. No information at all before purchasing the tickets. The permanent exhibit was, in my opinion, poor and not interesting at all. Park is nice but not the best I've ever seen.

Interesting and spacious modern art museum set in some magnificent gardens. Great pieces of contemporary art, friendly staff and well-priced cafe.
Only two stars because of the 18€ per adult over priced ticket. 2 x adult + 1 child 9€ = 45€. They have tried to be too clever with the ticket prices which also can be 10€ for either the museum, garden or villa. In my opinion everything should be included in one ticket.
These prices are way too much if you compare this museum to the National Gallery, British museum or Tate in London which is free, the Louvre in Paris which is cheaper or El Prado in Madrid which is also much less expensive. The prices need reviewing as this place should be open to everyone and not just people with money and the elite.

This museum is a true house of wonders, due to its simple but amazing architecture and brilliant room placement everything you see will leave you in great awe, they not only provide you with a great visual experience but auditive as well.
The garden outside is simply mystical, very tall trees blocking the sky view and beautiful houses hidden behind them with amazing pastel colors that seems to blend into the ground's own color as well. One of the houses had a beautiful front garden that seemed straight out of one of Wes Anderson's movies.
This is truly a unique experience which I HIGHLY recommend to anyone near this museum.

Sin tener expectativas el museo me ha decepcionado, pienso que si vienes a visitar Porto lo mejor es que priorices otros lugares, el museo no es comparable con los grandes museos de arte contemporáneo de Europa y del mundo, desde mi punto de vista se queda incluso mucho atrás por lo que ofrece. Une exposition en cours d'installation nous a privé d'une partie de la visite. L'exposition Book à la bibliothèque nous a beaucoup plu, même aux 3 ados ! L'exposition temporaire beaucoup moins... Vue la taille du bâtiment nous nous attendions à voir plus.
La maison art déco est très belle mais presque vide, le parc est très agréable avec des sculptures monumentales bien mises en valeur.
Bilan très mitigé au final...

Não recomendo ficar um dia inteiro mas 1 a 2h pode ser. Gostei .

Não gostei do museu, mas talvez seja porque eu não apreciei esse tipo de arte. Se você gosta é uma boa, eu só aproveitei a viagem porque já estava ali do lado, no Parque Serralves

Fantástico espaço para passear. Vale a pena estar um dia inteiro. O museu é enorme e os jardins também.

Le parc est sympathique à voir même si une partie était fermée. En revanche la partie musée est très peu fournie sutout au vu du prix de l'entrée. Si vous ne passez que 2 ou 3 jours à Porto il y a bien mieux à faire.

This place is a shame to art museums. Its big and empty, the grounds are not well kept and the villa is empty!!! Its a rip off

Un choix clair d'exposition qui peut ne pas nécessairement plaire à tout le monde, mais j'ai trouvé la visite très agréable, bien conçue et très intéressante. Attention, il faut savoir lire le portugais ou l'anglais.

This was pretty underwhelming. Nothing at all like a Getty Villa or even “Dali of Bali”. Badly over-priced at €18.
The contemporary gallery experience depends on the artists exhibited, this was modest.
The deco house (pictured) has several design features of interest, but almost entirely empty and not worth the trip (and I like deco design).
The gardens are large but clearly on low maintenance. Much upkeep could be done, wedding, add some flowers etc. Ok option for a picnic perhaps.
Only a few people on a Sunday was a plus. I guess others knew to doing other things. :-)

I have mixed feelings. Few exhibitions (one was advertised but being dismantled), the High Heels sculpture missing as well, rose garden without roses. But the Joan Jonas exhibition was interesting and well presented. The place has potential but not used.

O espaço Serralves é sempre um momento de puro prazer. A exposição de Joana Vasconcelos é assombrosa. Uma artista com uma criatividade enorme. Imperdível e uma mais valia para o Porto
