This was the best thing my wife and I did while in Portugal. Diane was a terrific tour guide.She picked us up at our hotel and drove us to various sites to view megaliths, first to sites with cromlechs like Stonehenge, but here you can walk right up to the stones. Diane,who is getting her PHD in literature and languages with expertise in mythology was a wealth of information. The final stop was a megalithic portal tomb comprised of massive stones with markings inside which you can see from above. Diane shared theories about the placement of stones and the markings on them as well as information about the Alentejo region,cork trees, wildflowers ,etc. Bring good walking shoes as the terrain, on farmland, is uneven and can be rocky. Even though it was quite rainy,not ideal for the tour,it will be the thing we most remember about our trip. Not to be missed

My family and I enjoyed a most informative tour with Melanie. She is the ultimate in knowledge of Evora! She tailored our tour to our preferences and helped us avoid the scorching heat. She even made lunch reservations for us ahead of time. We've taken many tours, and Melanie was, by far, the most knowledgeable, flexible and accommodating.

Best tour ever!!! It was an amazing time with Melanie, the best guide for Alentejo region. She knows everything about history, wine, places that needed to be seen, great picture spots, typical food and typical shop in all particulares and so enjoyable to know villas, such as Crato, Arraiolos, Évora, Flôr de Rosa, Montremoz, well the all Alentejo. Me and my mommy have an amazing time with her! Also she is a great driver!!!

We would highly recommend touring with Melanie! Our tour included two wineries (Cartuxa and Monte da Ravasquiera) and a special tasting at a unique spot in Evora. This was an amazing tour. Melanie was our guide and I must say that she provided the best tour I have ever had, and I have done a lot of them over 40 years of traveling. Melanie has a Ph.D. in archeology so she really knows her stuff; in fact, she studied and researched Evora in her doctoral studies. She loves the work she does and her passion and energy shows. She obviously enjoys helping people understand the history and background of the area and the buildings. We really appreciated learning from her. Melanie is a very friendly and personable person. I almost felt like we were friends by the end of the tour. She was very flexible and concerned with our needs and what was important to us. She didn't have a pre-planned script that she went through. The tour was very interactive and responsive to what we were interested in. This was a private tour so she could more easily pay attention to our needs than might be possible in a group tour but I am sure she would be terrific in a group as well. I would highly recommend taking a tour with Melanie. It is an experience you will thoroughly enjoy and won't forget. Thanks Melanie for doing such an outstanding job.

We very much enjoyed our tour of Evora today with Melanie and Diane, both of whom are multi lingual, knowledgeable and flexible. Despite the rain, Melanie was able to reformat the day to our liking, staying cheerful throughout. We saw all our requested sights. Highlights included the Cromlich megaliths and Chapel of the bones. They are experts about the region, culture, cuisine and history. We highly recommend this company for any tour of the region.

What a wonderful trip to Alentejo with Vagar - so many happy memories from our 4 day tour. We visited the megalithic stones and walked in the countryside around Arraiolos; we visited Estremoz and then spent the afternoon wine tasting in a fabulous old winery; the marble quarry was an experience we will never forget; Elvas was an amazing place to see; the pottery works visit and charming Monsaraz were equally delightful; and of course Evora is rich with history and amazing streets. It was all the more enjoyable with the friendly and knowledgeable Mélanie and Diane. Thank you for a memorable holiday, see you again soon!
