Water in rooms and used in the restaurant to wash vegetables and fruit is non potable. After one night was very ill so cancelled remaining nights. Had to go to hospital for antibiotics to recover. There is no notice that the water is non-potable on the website and there was no warning by reception on check in that we should not drink the water in the room. There is only a small sign on the upper corner of the bathroom mirror that the water is non-potable.

Estive apenas a almoçar. Têm um menu super pequeno e ainda assim, às 13h já tinham esgotado as entradas. A empregada de mesa foi muito simpática.

Stayed for one night only. Just 3 min drive away from Monsaraz main area, so conveniently located for Monsaraz sightseeing. Chilled atmosphere with nice swim pool, so it would be better to spend enough time at the hotel.

Extremamente bem localizado, é o melhor hotel rural / alojamento rural. Bons espaços, boa cama, quarto limpo, cuidado, calmo, etc, etc. altamente recomendado. Único Ponto melhorar: pequeno-almoço (está próximo do básico, agora é moda nos alojamentos de menos de 5 estrelas, mas é mais gritante num rural). Lamentei não ter aproveitado a piscina, o tempo não deixou...

I spent 2 very pleasant days in this most relaxing hotel which has been organised and created with obvious taste and care. It was like a retreat. I will return.

Beautiful County farm estate turned hotel. Beautiful gardens, stunning combination of architecture and furnishingredients in the main rooms. Citrus trees perfumed the air. And the front desk had breakfast to go bags since we had to leave early, so nice!

Absolutely idyllic setting during the day and millions of stars at night. Very friendly staff. Brilliant tour of their ancient olive trees, orchard and vegetables today. Great for adults and kids alike. A little bit of heaven.

Just one night but could have stayed much longer. Rooms are huge with two great lounges. Drove up the hill for dinner, but breakfast was large and tasty.

We stayed in the room with the fireplace. It was a great and romantic experience to fire it. Also the room is big and decorated in the local Portuguese rural style which is very inspiring. In the morning we enjoyed not only a horse ride but also a breakfast. Frankly speaking the breakfast is rather poor for the four stars hotel but the freshly baked bread is outstanding as well as the other pastries. Unfortunately, we came late in night and left before the afternoon, so it is not much to be told.

Set in extensive gardens and farmland, this is a unique hotel with certified olive trees aged from 500 to 2400 years old - truly remarkable. As well as orange and olive groves and vegetables, the hotel has a stable of the most beautiful horses. I would love to swim in the infinity pool in the summer with views over the gardens and surrounding countryside. A traditional Portuguese hotel with regional cuisine. To our delight live fada music on the night we stayed.

Die Hotelanlage ist zwar sehr schön und sie Zimmer rustikal und gemütlich, aber 4 Sterne verdient das Hotel nicht unbedingt. Besonders die Badezimmer führen zu einer Abwertung.

The Horta da Moura is a small, very charming country auberge that sits just at the bottom of the hill below the castle of Monsaraz, one of the most remarkable historical sites in eastern Portugal. The grounds are well tended, the rooms are sparkling clean and quite good-sized and the building contains several lounge areas that contain wood-burning fireplaces and large amounts of authentic Alentejo furniture and decor. My wife and I broke our general never-eat-where-you-stay rule, and we are quite glad we did, because the inns restaurant, Feitiço da Moura (The Spell of the Moorish Woman) indeed had us spell-bound with the quality and value of its cuisine. Have a special bottle of wine from your tour of the local adegas that you want to open with your dinner? No problem -- theyre only too happy to oblige, even though their own wine-list certainly needs no apology. But beware -- a big dinner may dampen your appetite for the massive country breakfast that will be served up the next morning, and it too will include many items with sabor alentejano. If there is better value for your travel dollar in the euro-denominated countries than Alentejo, then I am waiting to discover it. The Huerta da Moura, all by itself, is probably enough to make that case.

Very nice facility near Monsaraz. Quiet countryside with 4 star rooms and unique buildings.Hotel has restaurant and at end of building they keep 2 dogs in cages. When grounds staff leave dogs begin barking and do not stop until they return in the morning. We could not sleep all night because of this. When reported to the staff in the morning they said they would pass it on to the management. Not good enough for us being out a nights sleep.

Good points Hotel: Set in large grounds, and situated about 5 minutes drive from the old Town of Monsaraz and Lake Alqueva the largest man made Lake in Europe. It was also short drives, 5 to 20 minutes, from all of the standing stones, Iron Age dolmens and menhirs, in the area. Staff: Spoke good English, were extremely professional, attentive, pleasant, and they were forthcoming with local information and advice. Large Bedroom. Sitting room area with open fireplace, which we think, may be for ambience in winter as the electrical heating and cooling system worked well. Bathroom had under floor heating. Comfortable bed, divine high quality bed linen. Refrigerator provided in the room. Our room had a Terrace with chairs and table. We parked our car adjacent to our Terrace. The whole place was scrupulously clean. The gardens were neat and colourful. Breakfast: Excellent selection of high quality food, eggs cooked to order. We plan to stay here again and can fully recommend this Hotel. Bad points None.
