Es una casa particular convertida a hostal. Las instalaciones son muy buenas, y la persona que nos atendió fue muy amable en todo momento. Lo recomiendo si vas para un finde semana al Algarve. Un detalle a mejorar: las habitaciones no tienen llave (o al menos no nos las dieron a nosotros)

Huge apartment with large terrace and outside lunch area with barbecue. The landlady and her daughter are nice and very discrete. Sometimes they are in the house with guests, but this is generally not a problem due to the large size of the house. Bed is comfortable, but we believe there are still some insects or bedbugs as mentioned in one of the previous review. Double check!

My experience here was horrible. Even though they tried to be nice at first they really weren't accomodating to a traveller's constantly changing plans especially in this environment where I'm travelling alone and transportation is unreliable. They have a curfew of 10 pm or you get locked out unless another guest is staying and kind enough to open for you. A woman who checked in the night before me said she was trapped there all day because the woman did not give her a key and was never around -- as in there was noone around to open for her -- she had to call or text the woman to come in and open for her. Her passport was also held for a long time (I'm guessing because they needed to scan it as ID) but they took way too long to do that and made her feel like she was not getting her passport back before leaving/checking out! Towards the end, I could feel how much the host was annoyed with me changing my plans (because I didn't have really concrete plans and needed to make last-minute changes on my trip) -- and basically kicked me out. She never told me when check-out was so I'd asked if 12 was ok and she said no problem. Then I tried to change it to 2 because my train was delayed but apparently this was not ok. If it wasn't she should have said so from the beginning and not try to act accomodating. I felt like I was no longer welcome in this place and to leave with that kind of feeling is not what I'm paying for. Just beware that the owner of this place is a bit eccentric and it does not really give you much freedom or independence. Someone more familiar with the area might find it ok but as a newcomer who just needed a bed for the night -- I found it limiting. Despite all these negative things the property is nice and nowhere in Portimao is really that far from anything. It's just terrible that the host was so disorganized and didn't realize that her lack of certain things actually were an inconvenience to people like me and the woman staying with me -- solo backpacker type travellers who follow their own path and don't want to be tied down to the lock-out hours or maybe international (non-European) travellers who can't use their cell phones abroad.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The host is very very nice and helpful. The hostel is a very big converted private apartment on the ground floor with a massive outdoor area. We stayed here in the off-season. So make sure you book in advance if you want stay here in summer. Breakfast is 5€ extra a night but absolutely worth it!
