Sitio ideal por calidad y precio en pleno centro de Oporto. Muy recomendable como entrante la tabla de quesos y embutidos y el bacalhau como plato principal. La atención muy buena, aunque entre plato y plato se retrasaran un poco, merece la pena.
La tarta al limón de postre nos dejó sin palabras...
En cuanto al ambiente, es rústico y con una pequeña terracita. Ideal para ir en pareja.

Location bellissima. Sono stato in terrazzetta a mangiare e non sembra nemmeno di essere su una città grande come Porto, perché porta su una via chiusa e si mangia in pace assoluta. Personale gentilissimo e disponibile per qualunque cosa. Il menù non offre tanta scelta di piatti ma la trovo una cosa positiva perché sono fatti molto bene. Lo stufato di cinghiale al vino rosso che ho mangiato era morbidissimo e gustoso accompagnato da del riso bianco aromatizzato al coriandolo. Lo consiglio sicuramente per venire a mangiare. Il posto non è molto grande, credo ci possano stare 30 coperti al massimo, quindi la prenotazione credo sia la cosa migliore da fare se si vuole mangiare qua

We were passing by when they were just opening so we decided to try it. There were some hickups at the beginning with service as the lady who opened was all alone and the place got busy very fast. But the food was good.
I wish she would have told me the bacalhau tower cake was so big, I would have ordered the appetizer size for my main.

Lovely little restaurant in a steepy small street. Nice menu of typical Portuguese dishes. Cod on corn bread was delicious. And the Lemon pie with salt was fab!!! Nice wines too and so affordable!

El restaurante se encuentra en una calle muy escondida (o por lo menos a mí me lo pareció). Esta muy bien decorado. Es muy pequeño (no más de 20 comensales). Tiene una pequeña terraza. Nosotros tomamos un entrante, Bacalao crosta y jabalí. La comida estaba muy rica y platos muy abundantes. De postre tomamos una tarta de limón. De entrada nos pareció barato pero con el descuento del tenedor, salimos a 30€ en total. La chica que nos atendió muy simpática y profesional. Si vuelvo a oporto ya sé dónde tengo que repetir.

Nous y sommes allé 2 fois durant notre séjour à porto. On s'est régalé et pour un prix abordable. La gérante est adorable et parle même un peu le français. Seul bémol, un temps de service un peu long.

Bon alors a part le fait que nous y sommes allé pour les tripe façon porto et qu'ils ne les font plus, tout s'est vraiment bien passé. C'est une cuisine plus fine et plus travaillée que les autres restaurants portugais mais sans pour autant ôter ce coté bon vivant ! Un accueil extrêmement chaleureux et une addition a la fin tres raisonable ! Je recommande vivement pour les amoureux...! Un lieux tres romantique :)

Eating here was a strange experience. The interior was pretty nice, modern and tastefully done. But there was a bunch of houseflies hovering in the middle of the room and we were the only customers at lunchtime.
The waiter didn’t seem to be bothered by it.
Service felt inexperienced and unhelpful.
Food wise, the codfish broa was tasty, but the stew boar in red wine sauce was average.
I would return again only because it was good value with the fork discount

Très bon resto à base de "fait maison". La salle est petite (sans doute pas adaptée si vous êtes 5 ou plus, ou avec des enfants), le service un peu lent, les portions un brin limitées, mais c'est tout ce qu'on peut lui reprocher. C'est excellent, les produits sont frais et bien utilisés, on est à l'écart des rues bondées de Porto. Et en plus c'est un resto d'insertion, mais on ne s'en aperçoit qu'en lisant le revers de leur petite carte de visite. Je recommande sans détours.

Very very good. Don't miss this place.
Not far from the Sé (cathedral).
Wonderful food, homemade, fresh.
Just try the pasteis de Chaves with the salata mixta with red onion compote. Add a (generous) glass of vinho Verde.
Excelent wines.
Menu in Portuguese , English and French.
Very very friendly staff who will do their utmost to make sure you have a wonderful stay.
They speak fluent English as well.
Small but nice terrace.
They have a small shop as well where you can buy all sorts of things.
Not easily accessible for wheelchairs: many steps.
Portugues de Gema is a project that since 2006 helps people for whom it is difficult to find a job or who find it hard to manage an independent life.
Highly recommended!

Very nice and quite small place in a middle of a steep and narrow street (at the end of it you'll have a wonderful view of the Riviera neighborhood). The service was okay and lunch was great!

We had dinner with 4 persons at this small and cozy restaurant close to the Portuguese Camino de Santiago. We had several good starters were the mushrooms in portwine with pink peppercorns were outstanding. All of the four different main courses were excellent. Unfortunately only one piece of the heavenly fondant au chocolat (special desert of the day) was left. We shared and enjoyed it together. The restaurant is very fair priced, with several drinks we payed less than 30 € per person.

Lo encontramos por casualidad buscando un sitio donde comer, al mirar las reseñas nos pareció bien y entramos, a pesar de especificar cierta lentitud.
Confirmamos esa lentitud rápidamente, aunque se ha de aclarar que la lentitud es a la hora de atender, de realizar el pedido, después de esto, los tiempos son muy adecuados.
Pedimos 1 salchicha (creo que mezclada con pan), una ensalada, un plato de bacalao y otro de jabalí, una botella de vino, otra de agua grande y dos cafés; lo que sumó 52€.
Todo lo que comimos están muy bueno, el estofado de jabalí fue mi preferido, servido en una hollita junto con otra más pequeña de arroz blanco. El bacalao servido en un timbal con la corteza torrada y una generosa base patata asada, se hizo un plato mucho más pesado.
El local está dividido en una sala interior, para 12 personas, y una terraza para 8 o 10 personas más.
Recomendado con tiempo para esperar, muy buena relación calidad/ precio. Se puede ir con niños, aunque no lo recomiendo.

Très belle surprise dans ce restaurant dont la décoration de bon goût a été toute refaite il y a quelques mois. Terrasse ou nous pouvons dîner également. Les plats sont bons et cela fait penser à un restaurant semi gastronomique. Les serveurs sont également de bons conseils.

We had several small dishes (though full-sized ones are available!) - Cod with cornbread, mushrooms in Port wine sauce, salad, and a vegetarian sausage, all of which were absolutely delicious!!

A TRUE HIDDEN GEM
We stumbled across this lovely little place en route to another restaurant in town and we're so happy to have changed our minds and decided to eat at Portugues de Gema.
We were met and served by a very charming, friendly and helpful waiter. Who made the experience so much more.
Good was delicious, particularly the cod fish and cornbread. From the seasoning to the presentation. It was perfect, and arrived at our table after only a short wait.
Red Wine and Port options were also delicious.
100% will be coming back here next time we're in Porto. A great find.

First and foremost, the service was excellent. The gentleman who attended to us made sure we had a good time and took genuine pleasure in that we enjoyed their food and wine, which is such a rare find.
It’s a cozy place, located just a few steps and a turn away from the commotion of busy streets.
The menu has a small range with focus on codfish, boar and vegetarian. The food was very fresh and delicious. There are no overpowering flavors which is, imho, the essence of Portuguese cuisine.
The wine and Porto offerings were lovely, with even Porto from 1963.
I’d highly recommend it for tourists trying to get a taste of Portuguese cuisine.

Hemos degustado unos fantásticos platos de la cocina tradicional de Oporto, el bacalao perfecto y los vinos muy buenos, para terminar los postres son una verdadera maravilla.

Stumbled upon this place in a small alley, away from the main walking paths and restaurants. Practically had the place to myself. Food was great, traditional Portuguese. Service was outstanding, and the ambiance was quaint and peaceful.

Very friendly staff! Portions were generous. The cheese platter is a must if you go with an entrée. For the main dish, I had pork with chestnuts, the pork was tender and the chestnuts went quite well with it. Definitely recommending. If there is a cheesecake for the special dessert of the day - take it!!! Best cheesecake I've ever had.

On a night where it was booked everywhere, we found this place after 3 rejections. We were welcome to a cosy interior. The menu is diversified enough. White sangria was nothing special, lacking the right acidity and flavour. The food was good, cod fish in a nice presentation, boar in red wine, pork with chestnuts, all tasty. Prices are decent, service was also good.

Wow, just fantastic. We stopped by here on a whim after touring the cathedral for a little afternoon drink and some snacks, and it was so idyllic! Its adorable and super old inside with some updates, but we sat on the back patio. The patio was surrounded by super cool ancient ruins walls, and our servers were so nice. I'm pretty sure its run by a local family (Gema perhaps?), so we got served by this adorable little old man whose smile and zest for life just filled my soul. Their meat and cheese plate was generously overflowing, and then we partook in some obsessively delicious cheddar biscuits which were to die for (which I dont think were officially on the menu yet, but definately should be added). And their white wine sangria hit just the spot. Just absolutely wonderful overall, highly reccomend!

If i could give this place 500 stars, I would! Found it after escaping the more busy streets nearby and so glad we did. Wine, food, and dessert were all divine. It has the most romantic balcony seating, and the staff made us feel at home. My favorite meal in Porto!

Joli restaurant mais cuisine assez moyenne et probablement industrielle. Nous avons choisi le hamburger végétarien qui ressemblait vraiment à une galette aux légumes surgelée qu'on peut trouver au supermarché, et un curry aux asperges qui avaient un goût acide et qui sortaient là aussi sûrement d'une conserve. Quand au biscuit à l'avoine et orange : on vous amène une petite assiette avec 5 biscuits secs qui sortent d'une boîte de gâteau. Bref, c'est le restaurant le plus cher de tout notre séjour et dont la cuisine nous a le moins plu. Je ne recommande pas.

Une découverte proposée par vous autres ... J'ai tapé resto près du spectacle de Fado... C'est un peu perdu et ma blonde a pas trop aimé la ruelle étroite... La bouffe et le service étaient fantastiques et les prix sont abordables. J'y retournerai à une prochaine visite à Porto.

Eine kleine positive Entdeckung in einem kleinem Gässchen. Ruhige Atmosphäre, nettes Personal und feines Essen echön engerichtet. Zitronentart und Schokokuchen waren superb!

Nice little restaurant hidden from the main touristic path; has a small terrace and warm, helpful hosts. Would definitely recommend the boar stew (with a nice glass of red wine on the side) and the lemon salted pie.

The cheese breads were great. The portion of some starters (ham and cheese sandwich) was pretty large for a starter. My cornbread and fish potatoes stack the fish was over cooked and quit rubbery. But everyone was ordering it.

We ordered the vegetarian burger and the curry. Sad to say the salad that came with the burger was way to salty, impossible to eat. The curry on the other hand was lacking of salt, but otherwise not bad. Staff was friendly but our waiter didnt speak english.

Zamówiliśmy dorsza pieczonego (bacalhau em crosta...). Bardzo smaczny, ciekawie podany, ale miejscami zimny, a nawet lodowaty w środku. Okazało się, że był wcześniej przygotowany, następnie zamrożony i zbyt krótko w piecu. Pani chciała nam go włożyć na powrót do pieca. Postanowiliśmy jeść dalej. Jeśli zamówisz to samo danie, poproś, by przytrzymali je nieco dłużej w piecu. Poza tym, miejsce klimatyczne, obsługa grzeczna, uśmiechnięta.

Amazing experience with very creative dishes! Outdoor seating available in the backyards for 5 tables, which look very private. All the staff were extremely friendly and able to help to choose a good dish depending on everyone's taste.

A restaurant run with the aim of helping people and hirs former drug addicts and longtime unemployed. The food was excellent, and service was good! I recommend the outdoor seating, you could hear a cacophony of bird chirping if you arrive early. I highly recommend the chorizo, fried eggs with bacalhau and pork cubes in chestnut stew. Their white wines are also good.

Change radicalement des pièges à touristes, il faut savoir sortir des sentiers battus pour dénicher ces petites perles de restaurant, ici, on peut vraiment l appeler restaurant, très bon service, en portugais, espagnol ou anglais, ils parlent même un peu français. Carte bien fournie, cuisine délicieuse, quelques bémols néanmoins, on était venu pour manger des tripes, mais ils ne les servent que l hiver !, pour le vin, la carte annonçait un millésime 2015 et on nous a servi un 2016, le sourire et la gentillesse des gérants fait passer le truc. Lieu agréable, bien décoré, avec une petite terrasse calme, lieu à recommander chaudement.

Came because of the good reviews. The restaurant is a bit hidden and you can't see tables from the street. Had conserved sardines in tomato sauce for starter. The sardines were fine, though nothing special yet this dish seemed overpriced (7€). For main, had the pork cubes with chestnuts with white rice on the side. This dish wasn't good in my opinion. The meet was far from tender, the sauce was a bit overseasoned and there wasn't enough of it to be used for the bland rice. The chestnuts were tasty and an interesting addition. The service was ok.
All in all I don't feel I would have returned here, had I had the opportunity.

Lovely place. Not many tables, the restaurant looks very nice, service is good, the food is good. I recommend trying this place. The menu is not big, which is to be appreciated. Keep it up!

정말 미안한데 맛이 드럽게 없었어......카레에서 카레향이 잘 안 나고 쌀은 덜익어서 서걱거리고 말라있었어 아스파라거스는 .... 말해서 뭐해..... 그냥 맛이 없었는데..... 모든 서비스는 최고 였지만 ... 이 맛은 정말 아닌거 같아

Great typical Portuguese cuisine at amazingly low prices. The owner is a great mâitre'D. The space is very welcoming. We had a great dinner! Already recommended to a friend who loved it. Also a superb place for a romantic escapade, the balcony is perfect for relaxing.

Nos encantó la experiencia :) Cuando llegamos estaba todo lleno pero nos ofrecieron cenar en la terraza y al final fue todo un lujo porque cenamos solos en una terraza espectacular! La comida muy bien y probamos un vino verde rosado que nos gustó mucho, pero sin duda lo que fue fantástico fue como nos trataron y las dos personas que nos atendieron. Recomendable 100% ☺️

Restaurante moderno y reformado en una callejuela cercana a la Catedral.
El único "pero" del sitio es que es un poco pequeño (las mesas están muy pegadas, tanto que parece que el de al lado cena contigo). Salvando este detalle, la atención es muy cercana, los platos muy ricos (de cantidad correcta) y de comida casera.
El jabalí estaba muy tierno y los postres son espectaculares.
Con el descuento del tenedor pagamos 36€ 2 personas con 2 entrantes, 2 principales, 2 postres y bebidas.

We had a wonderfull dinnertime. The restaurant is cozy and intimate and has a terras on a small courtyard. The menu offers plenty of choice, with a nice variety of dishes. We ordered several starters and enjoyed every bit of it, especially the mushrooms and alheira. Along with the dishes they serve wines of an excellent price/quality ratio. The deserts were served tapas like, and put and perfect ending of this tasting. What really made the evening was the sincere and lovey hostess and her husband. If you're in Porto, you should really consider paying them a visit!

Great location right in the historic city center. It about 10 minutes walk from the São Bento railway station or the "Praça Liberdade" metro station. Good traditional portuguese food, specially the starters. There is not a big variety of protuguese typical desserts.

Right down the backstreets, this amazing restaurant serves the most amazing food with lovely sangria to go with it. We had chorizo which we cooked ourselves on a flame, sardines which were beautiful, a stew that was incredible and a really tasty cod.
Brilliant food, service and drinks, would highly recommend.

I've read the reviews before going. Since the reviews were all great, I was really excited to go. The patio was really cool and cozy. We were looking to have some local wines and only some tapas like dishes. The waiter seemed disappointed when we only ordered starters. We received the wine and waited more than half hour to get food. Everybody around was getting food and even finishing even the ones that came after us. He forgot to write down our entire order. He eventually came with a few of them and then we waited for another half hour for another glass of wine and the remaining starters. we decided to leave. he promised to fix everything. Eventually the tripe stew came but in the main course size, not the starter as we first asked. Not sure why people say it's cheap either, the starters go for the price of an entire menu . Can't argue that the food wasn't good. It was. The service ruined it for us though.

Really nice small family run place. Little girl ran over and opened the door for us and brought in seat covers. Food was really good and cheap. Recommend the alheira and the boar. Great wine prices too. Good atmosphere.

No idea, what the guy beneath means, obviously he mixed up the location, cos there is no staff (just one lovely woman as owner+cook+waitress) and its too small to have an live Fado act...
As to the restaurant: my friends and me had an wonderful evening, with great original portuguese food. The portions are small, but also cheap, so you can try a few things of the daily menu an the wine (delicious) prices are almost too low. Theres no view as it is in the backyard, but the whole atmosphere is warm and friendly. Thanks

This restaurant is an absolute NO GO. Those people are rude an,d lacking manners. The overcharged me as well, not to mention that their Fado didn't move me at ALL. That fado was not from the heart, not even from their Hara. It was to much noise for nothing, loud and feelingless.
