The Hotel overlooks the river and cathedral. Great location and food quality as expected for a 5 star hotel. Bar prices are high but there are plenty of tabernas and cafes to choose from.

Ottima accoglienza con spumante di benvenuto, parcheggio interno gratuito. Staff molto disponibile e cortese. Camere non grandi ma lussuose e dotate di ogni comfort. TV piatta 42''hd. Suite molto grande. Molte camere non dispongono di balcone. Ottima cena e colazione superba. Hotel in posizione centrale, molto comodo per visitare il paese Amarante, accanto al fiume Tamago. Piscina estera e sala giochi con biliardo. Consigliato.

Wonderful hotel with a very good view.
We have a suit room and a big private terrace with river and church view. In the night, we can lie down and see many stars. I like this small town, so cute so peaceful. I am so satisfied.

Very warm place. Love the decor. Beautiful view of church across the river. Unfortunatley it rained most of the time and we werent able to walk around the area. There are several local shops and restaurants nearby.

The hotel is in a beautiful area with river views. The setting and hotel areas are immaculate. The hotel is a little difficult to find--a map with reservations would be helpful. The entrance into the hotel parking area is narrow and requires backing up into an intersection to drive directly perpendicular to the entrance. Breakfast was delicious. Our river view suite was fantastic! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Second time we have stayed here & always a pleasure. Quite an expensive hotel for a small town like Amarante but the quality shines through. Unfortunately the heatwave made it very uncomfortable to venture too far from the Chateauxs pool & air conditioning during our stay but fortunately at Casa Calçada thats not a bad thing at all. We arranged to have our wedding in the Casa da Calcada - civil marriage ceremony, finger food, meal and reception. It was a wonderful day and the hotel contributed enormously to the occasion. The weather was perfect and the surrounding area was ideal for pictures. The finger food was delicious and the champagne was great. The food for the main meal was also delicious but if anything, they served too much! My wife was particularly impressed by the flower arrangement at the main dinner table. The balcony was the perfect location to unwind afterwards with a few drinks. All in all, it was a great day and I'd like to think the hotel for the great service they provided.

Absolutely phenomenal hotel. Staff is remarkable.... one night the manager gave us his own umbrella as the front desk had none left. The day we flew out they packed us a breakfast for the car ride because we were leaving before the standard room delivery hours. The property is meticulously kept, the staff is friendly, and we were upgraded to a lovely suite for free. I highly recommend this property.

Hotel Maravilhoso, é um palácio, atendimento prime, gastronomia fantástica. Só faltou uma academia, mas que não tirou em nada o glamour do local.
Super recomendo.
A cidade é pequena, mas super aconchegante, legal sentar no centro histórico, comer um doce, tomar um café, chá ou até um vinho.
Aluguei uma Bike e fui passear em uma pista de ecoturismo, ela é asfaltada e linda, e fica próximo, adorei o passeio.

It is a lovely place that is right in the center of a beautiful town. Breakfast had lots of option & was very well done. The beds are very comfortable. There is a beautiful pool as well. One watch out - the church across the street rings its bells every 15 minutes all day until around 11pm. If you like to sleep in, you might want to pick somewhere else.

Personnel adorable, très prévenant et souriant, parlant souvent français.
Hôtel bien situé, belle vue sur la rivière.
Restaurants avec de très jolies atmosphères et de très bonnes cuisines.
Par contre, parking pas très pratique et nous avons eu malheureusement pas mal de bruit jusqu'à tard dans la soirée à cause d'un mariage.

The room is spacious and clean. The Michelin restaurant food is superb. I personally would like to recommend the jogging route nearby with good river view all along. Breakfast has very good standard too !

Nada condizente com categoria do restaurante/hotel...
Serviço decepcionante... Já passaram 15 minutos desde que terminamos de janta... Já fumei 2 cigarros e ainda não nos levantaram os pratos
Aleluia... Levantaram agora...!!!! 16 minutos depois.
Passamos o jantar todo e ninguém veio repor as bebidas... Estamos num 5 estrelas....
Felizmente temos maozinhas e a garrafa de água ficou pousada na mesa....
É triste... Hotel de 5 estrelas, preços 5 estrelas... Vista 5 estrelas e serviço de 2 estrelas...
Começou logo na recepção... A menina estava sentada ao telefone... E continuou... Só depois de eu dizer 2 vezes boa noite e que se levantou e por fim desligou o telefone dizendo:"não atendem..."
Sei que era serviço, mas tinha ficado bem levantar-se e cumprimentar logo... Com alguma "desculpa" de estar de telemóvel colado no ouvido!!!!
Em suma uma má experiência em que a única coisa boa foi o Azeite servido com o couvert, Do Romeu, e as entradas, :Terrina de Foie Gras e Camarão Kaidaifi, se bem que pelo preço tinham mesmo que estar boas.
Não costumo discutir o preço, muito menos quando escolho voluntariamente um sitio 5 estrelas para jantar... Só peço serviço e qualidade condizentes... E francamente foi decepcionante!
Para não dizerem que falo por falar, aqui vão descritos os defeitos do risoto:
Cru demais, sem goma, queijo ultra insuficiente, sem personalidade, não se sentia nenhum sabor dos seus componentes, que seriam, espargos verdes e azeite de trufas, que nem cheirinho, e a rúcula abafa a tudo, e tudo era abafado por um exagero ácido, quiçá do vinagre que tempera a a rúcula que cobria tudo que nem salada...
Juro que eu faço melhor!!!!

Our room was adequate, but dingy. Had to crawl under the desk to access the one plug for charging the phone. No face cloth in the bathroom. Staff were competent, but only one was really welcoming. Would have expected more of a Relais and Chateaux hotel.Location is outstanding and the surrounding area is well worth the visit.

Five Star establishment. Very friendly Front Office team. Beautiful room. But best of all a very comfortable bed and firm pillow. Excellent nights sleep. Breakfast the Bacon was crispy and Coffee hot and excellent. The Michelin restaurants food is a dream. I recommend you choose your own wine.

We had a lovely time at this hotel. Stayed for a couple of nights (6 of us in all) and our only issue was that the air conditioning didn't seem to work or work well for two of our rooms. We opened the windows in those rooms, which was fine as it was early spring. The restaurant is wonderful and the breakfast buffet was a highlight of our stay!

The rooms are small but cute. The service was great, they helped us with booking tours as well as greeted us with sparkling wine. It is also home to Michelin star restaurant.

Beautifully decorated, friendly professional staff, comfortable beds and good food.
Also next to the river and a park which the dog enjoyed.
We left yesterday for another hotel, which we disliked so much we turned round and came back for an additional two nights. And we lost money on the other hotel reservation.
The Casa da Calçada is that type of hotel. It's hard to leave!

Stunning hotel in the middle of a charming village. Great location to walk to restaurants. There is a beautiful walk path along the Tamagus river just in front of the hotel. We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine that we drank on a nice terrasse overlooking the old church and medivial bridge while the luggages were delivereed to our rooms. Nice pool area with lounge furniture to have a drink or read a book outside on the 4th floor with views of the city. Very complete included breakfast with many hot and cold options: fresh squeezed orange juice (with or without bubbly), made to order omelettes, fresh fruits, cheese and cold cuts, divine fresh yogourts, pastries.But the highlight of our stay was without a doubt the meal we had at the one-star Michelin restaurant. What an experience! Everything was top notch, the presentation amazing and the food out of this world. It does come with a price but not more than a good restaurant in my home city of Montreal. The only drawback was the view from the room. We were staying on the second floor overlooking the back staircase and a inside corner of the hotel. There was little to no sunlight coming through the window. Very dissapointing when everything else is charming .I assume that if you want rooms facing the river you have to pay premium. I would definitively recommand this hotel. The staff is very helpful and polite.

5 étoiles est-ce assez? S'il fallait attribuer plus d'étoiles je le ferai sans hésitation. Notre expérience a été fabuleuse! Je suis originaire de la région du Douro plus précisément de Peso da Regua et je ne connaissais pas la ville d'Amarante.
Je découvre une village très charmante, certes petite, mais c'est ce qui fait tout son charme.
Le staff de l'hôtel est très professionnel et très aimable. Aux petits soins dès votre arrivés, on vous propose un verre de champagne ou un verre d'eau. Votre valise est déposé directement dans votre chambre.
Le petit déjeuner était très copieux et les produits d'une excellente qualités.
Merci pour cette expérience qui nous a vraiment marqué.

Elegante, sofisticado, como hotel, perfeito. O restaurante faz da comida um acontecimento surpreendente, quase esbarrando no constrangimento para paladares provincianos como o meu. Único estrelado Michelin que experimentei. Mas valeu. Comi umas coisinhas minúsculas de incrível sabor. O preço não importa.

Cet hôtel Relais est Château est superbe. L'authenticité et l'ambiance a été conservé. Meubles, luminaires et autres décoration. Mais tout en étant moderne et à la pointe des technologies ! La vue sur la rive et la grande église d'une face. Si vous souhaitez manger dans le meilleur restaurant d'Europe en 2014 faite une réservation. Plats gastronomiques, donc prévoyez un budget de 50e par personne. La salle est joliment décorée. Il y'a également plein d'espaces de détentes sur tout le RDC de l'hôtel et la possibilité d'aller sur la terrasse pour une belle vue et un rayon de soleil.

Schönes historisches Hotel. Man sollte gerne Spannteppich haben. Das Hotel hat eine schöne Bar und ein ausgezeichnetes Restaurant. Zum Hotel gehört ein Weingut, welches die spannbreite der Vino Verde Weine gut widerspiegelt. Schöner Garten.

Everything was perfect ... except the air conditioning didn't go below 20°C. The room was much too warm during the summer. But otherwise, heaven in a hotel!

Ein traumhaft schönes Hotel. Super Comfort und sehr freundliches Personal. Schöne Lage und einen sehr gepflegten Pool. Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Woche. Alle sehenswerten Städtchen sind mit dem Auto in einer halben Stunde erreichbar. Wir können dieses Hotel nur empfehlen.

El restaurante espectacular,el servicio,maravilloso, el ambiente,el entorno,todo,todo fenomenal. La comida, especial,me encantó. Yo,le daría del 1 al 10, un 25. Se lo merece.

Ficamos numa suite com vista para o rio e Igreja, Amplo, confortável e muito bem decorado, toda a casa está muito bem decorada. Empregados muito atenciosos e prestáveis, um serviço de malas e carro fantástico, comida e apresentação excelente. Uma estadia real. Um serviço de casamento de 5 estrelas, melhor não podia ter sido.

Very good location in Amarante, fantastic view of Tamaga river. Breakfest not matching the brand and luxury hotel, but lunch and dinner of restaurant with one Michelin star. Cozy bar.

Létablissement est à la hauteur de Relais et Châteaux: site, caractère de lhôtel, confort, accueil et service très professionnel,table superbeun seul bémol ; la chambre que nous avions aurait nécessité une rénovation, ou au moins un rafraîchissement.
