Fui para comer cuando abrieron y:
1) preguntamos si había terraza y dijeron que no, cuando sí la hay y de hecho hay fotos de otra gente que estuvo y son en esa terraza
2) éramos las primeras clientes y estuvimos esperando a que nos dieran el menú mucho rato y nos tuvimos que ir porque nadie se molestaba en acercarse, además miraban mal.

A small and cozy place ran by a family. Good service and great food, we had both options - meat and fish and both were delicious. The owner (I guess) cooks the meat and talks to each guest. Strongly recommend visiting when in Porto!

Loved this place. Yes, the choice is "limited" and the menu is delivered by mouth only, but the staff are friendly and grandma was the best! I think I got her (secret family) recipe for açorda de pescada: but as a non-Portuguese speaker, her recipe was safe sadly.
This is the 3rd time I'd tried to go: first 2 were in school holidays so closed but was able to make a dinner time reservation at lunchtime. Worth the wait!

Ich bin Hin und Her gerissen. Auf der einen Seite war die Atmosphäre sehr angenehm, wie die anderen Rezensionen versprechen, es ist sehr nette Hausmannskost. Auf der anderen Seite war das Steak (15€) recht roh und der Fisch (12,50€) O.K.. Am Ende des Tages zählt das Essen und war nicht überragend.

Mega tolles, einfaches Restaurant. Es gibt 2 Gerichte zu Auswahl, Fisch, Fleisch. Hauswein und zwei Schwestern im Service und die Mutter in der Küche. Super freundlich, schnell und authentisch. Hingehen.

Si te gusta rememorar la época del colegio recomendable 100% solo te sirven una carne que parece suela de zapato y un pescado rebozado que disimula cualquier tipo de putrefacción a base de medio kilo de limón. A nosotros nos lo recomendó el hotel y probablemente esté ahí el truco porque estaba lleno de turistas. Eso sí, timadores pero profesionales porque la camarera habla todos los idiomas. Si vais no os comáis el aperitivo que ponen esperando a la comida: son dos quesitos que deben de aprovechar de los hoteles con los que están compinchados y en la cuenta te ponen con boli que valían cinco euros. Palabras textuales de la amable camarera: “se paga lo que se come”. Para no dejar de sorprenderte, al final de la noche te dicen que no tienen datáfono. Eso sí, ellas vivirán bien porque te cobran quince euros por cada carne retorcida y por cada pescado esperando a ser comido desde la independencia portuguesa.

MALISIMO. Solo tienen dos platos, carne o pescado, los dos muy malos. Un sitio solo para guiris donde te hablan en inglés desde que entras por la puerta. Nos cobraron 5 euros por un poco de pan con mantequilla que no pedimos y para colmo no se podía pagar con tarjeta. De los peores sitios en los que he estado.

2 opções de pratos, carne ou peixe . Simples mas maravilhoso, pegamos um prato de peixe e arroz que era muito bom, bolinhos de bacalhau Ótimos,a carne pegamos o primeiro e tivemos que repetir porque era simplesmente delicioso. Funcionários super simpáticos.
Fora o preço que é muito baixo. Resumindo se come muito bem pagando muito pouco. Aconselho vivamente.

That's a lovely family restaurant with its very atmospheric interior. I think it's popular for I saw many people when I had my dinner there. The staff is really patient, polite and helpful. There's no strict menu, they serve other dishes every day in an affordable price. Moreover, you can try their red wine and it's delicious for a price of 6€ per litre. I had a beefsteak with rice, salad and crisps which confused me at first, but these crisps are homemade and hot when served which makes them tasty. Speaking of the beefsteak, it was delectable and medium rare. One portion can make one full. My family ordered fish and they also liked the food.
There's also a terrace on the back of the restaurant and if you ask the staff you can go there to have a look at Porto from an interesting point of view. If you want to eat some local food, here's an option for you.

Lugar moderno dentro de ser un clásico. Cocina casera muy buena, regentado por una familia muy cercana, tanto que hasta la cocinera puede sentarse contigo a explicarte cómo ha hecho los platos.
Nos gustó mucho que nos dieron a probar un plato que no entendíamos lo que era, por si no nos gustaba. Era una especie de sopa de ajo con pan y bacalao y otros pescados.
Eso sí, solo tienen dos opciones de plato cada día, una carne y un pescado. Eso te asegura una calidad buena pero es verdad que es algo limitado.
Suele estar bastante lleno así que hay que reservar o tener suerte (como nosotras).

Un sitio particular con un menú muy simple que consta de 2 elementos: carne o pescado, que va variando en función del día, en mi caso tenía para elegir o bien pescada (merluza) a la plancha o vitela (ternera) estufada, ambos platos con su acompañamiento. Elegí la ternera y estuvo bastante bien por el precio (9€ tanto la carne como el pescado). Postres caseros recomendado y si puedes elige comer en la terraza desde donde vas a disfrutar de unas geniales vistas.

Restaurant familial et authentique. Terrasse avec une belle vue sur la chapelle Nossa Senhora Esperanca, le Douro et Gaia, superbe en soirée. 3 plats au choix viande et poisson. Tout est fait maison. Rien d'extraordinaire sauf que tout est parfait : viande parfaitement cuite et marinee, poisson délicieux, riz parfumé, légume fondant, dessert léger ... seule incompréhension (pardonnée!) les chips. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés.

On sent l'authenticité portugaise.
Le personnel est très tonique et très agréable. On nous a proposé 3 plats différents, nous étions 2 donc nous en avons testé 2 et ils étaient excellent (copieux, fameux, typique). L'addition a été de 25.90€ pour 1 plat de viande, 1 plat de poisson, 2 grands verres de vin blanc et 1 mousse au chocolat.

What a lovely place! We went here just by chance, passed by and thought ‘ok, let’s try this one’. Little didn’t we know that this would have been a unique experience. The menu has only 2 dishes and we decided to try both. Absolutely delicious. Lovely staff and specially the cook! Feels really homely. Oh, did I mention is cheap? Thanks a lot!

I went there during the early lunch hour, and only two menus were available. Soon, we found out that both are absolutely amazing and the amount was plentiful, and the wine was almost free-flow, haha. It was a truly enjoyable lunch hour.

What a lovely place. The unexpected garden in back provided terrific views of the city. A little Olive tree strives for sun while the shaded seating area provides a tranquil setting. Both specials- lightly breaded and fried hake, and oven roasted veal- were simply but expertly prepared. The seafood soup was as rich and heart as the salad was light and refreshing. Most of all the lovely family- mom, daughters, and son- were cheerful, kind, and efficient. Not to miss!

Très accueillant, mais comme à la maison, la soupe tellement bouillante que mangé en dessert, le riz froid et la patronne qui met sa main dessus pour constater, retour cuisine et maintenant bouillant comme la soupe, 2 plats proposés, un de poisson frit et un de viande. Passez votre chemin !!

Don't expect traditional restaurant treatment. Expect something that resembles dinner at your grandma's house.
If you want to eat nice, cheap, homemade meal I strongly recommend visiting.
But if you want to eat traditional Portuguese cuisine or eat something fancy I would stay away.

We recently returned to “Mamas restaurant” as we like to call it - while enjoying a marvelous holiday in Porto. It was even better then our visit dinner last year. We went at lunch in a Saturday and enjoyed wonderful service, delicious fresh food (fish and veal stew) and a lovely vino verde, topped off with a variety of homemade desserts. We were very happy to see that Mama and her daughters were still providing wonderful hospitality and an excellent value in lovely Porto!

價錢真係好平，不過食物不如博客講得咁好。烤魚買晒，只有雪魚球，雪魚球，沒有雪魚，就像我們的魚腐。只食到炸粉。檸檬餅好味。Home make cake就像爛了的生日蛋糕，菜湯可以。

Cuándo sales con hambre de un restaurante , malo!!
Sitio dónde solo hay un dos platos del dia, cuando nosotros fuimos uno era hamburguesa que viene acompañado de ensalada y chips de bolsa que compras en un súper.
El otro bacallau con un sabor fuerte, difícil de comer.
Precio de platos solo, bebida aparte y postre aparte.
De cuatro días que estuvimos visitando Oporto , el peor sitio que hemos comido con diferencia.
La atención, que podría haber dejado algo positivo de nuestra visita , todo lo contrario. Trabajadores que se paseaban de un lado para otro hablando con los conocidos por las mesas sin prestar atención a los clientes y si habíamos terminado queríamos algo más etc.

Muy bien. Casa de comidas. Sencillo. Buen servicio. Restaurante familiar.
A mediados de octubre yo era el único no portugués comiendo.
Al entrar , la camarera me preguntó si hablaba portugués o inglés. Creo que los españoles que viajan entienden mejor el “inglés turístico “ que el portugués cerrado por lo que no es ofensivo ni atrapa turistas si a un turista no anglógono se han dirigido en inglés, como decía alguien aquí.
El bacalao estaba bien rico y el postre , aún mejor.
En la fila de espera , dos señoras locales, con la excusa de saludar a los de una mesa , se me colaron y se sentaron antes. Sin embargo, la camarera lo tuvo claro y dio orden de que me tomaran a mí antes el pedido y que me sirvieran antes.
Pues eso. Que muy bien.

Als je houdt van een traditioneel restaurantje dan is dit zeker je ding. Zeer beperkte menukaart, maar wel erg lekker. Goede bediening en mooi uitzicht als je buiten zit. We betaalden €15 per persoon voor hoofdgerecht, halve liter wijn, dessert en 2 porto's. Aanrader !

Sehr gute portugiesische Küche. Es gibt bis zu 3 unterschiedliche Gerichte. Mindestens einmal Fisch und Fleisch sind dabei. Das Essen ist immer frisch und es gibt nur eine begrenzte Zahl an Portionen. Was weg ist ist weg:)
Die Mutter kocht in der Küche und die Schwestern und ein Cousin sind in der Bedienung. Alle sind sehr freundlich und sehr zu vorkommen wenn es um Gäste mit Kindern geht.
Kann ich jedem empfehlen der echte portugiesische Küche probieren möchte!

Ein familien-geführtes Restaurant, bei welchem das Essen sehr lecker schmeckt. Wir waren bereits drei Mal dort. Von Außen läuft man schnell vorbei, da es ein übliches Haus in Porto zu scheinen mag. Vom Ambiente her lässt es sich gut aushalten, man darf aber nichts nobles erwarten. Dies wiederum gleicht der enorm günstige Preis und das gute Essen absolut aus.

Cocina tradicional Portuguesa a buen precio. Puedes elegir entre carne o pescado y estos son los platos del día. Nosotros elegimos uno cada uno (eran dos tipos de arroz, uno con pescado y el otro con carne) y con bebida y postres nos salio sobre los 16 euros todo.

Ordered grill seabass tonight, the waiter brought absolutely different fish dish we didnt order, when we refused another one came saying seabass was finished, so take this or leave it. Dont even bother to ask if we want the T-bone steak instead.
They have no menu, no price so basically can charge any price when you pay. Be aware of the water bottle trick as well!

On peut réserver et en attendant aller boire un verre à la place à 100m au dessus pour voir le coucher du soleil.il y'a une petite terrasse avec vue sur gaia.les portions sont corectes et frais (c'est la mère qui cuisine tout).dessert excellent.le plat 12€ (avec le vin et café compter 15€ environs. Aggiungiamo la simpatia della cuoca titolare e delle figlie e il risultato è sul piatto. Kleines beliebtes Restaurant in dem die Mama selber noch zu zaubern scheint. Es wird freundlich alles auf englisch erklärt. Wir konnten aus einem Tagesmenu wählen, Fisch oder Fleisch. Ich bestellte den Fisch (siehe Foto), meine Begleitung nur eine Suppe. Das Essen war gut, nur mein Brokkoli zu matschig gegart.
Die Mutter des Hauses ging im Laufe des Abends mehrfach durch das Restaurant und hielt Smalltalk mit den Gästen. Die wissen was Touris mögen

They have one fish dish and one meat dish everyday. On the day of our visit they had fish soup and grilled pork which were both delicious. Service was very good. They didn't even have a menu but in the end it was incredibly cheap - 16€ in total for 2 main courses, a jar of wine, and 1 dessert.

les employés de bureau venus déjeuner. Merlot ou poitrine de porc confite à choisir. Tout simplement délicieux. Elles savent magner les sucs de la viande avec habilité. Énormément de goût dans ce petit ragoût qui ne payait pas de mine. Le meilleur plat de notre séjour à Porto. Seule la mousse au chocolat était proposée en dessert et c'est pas plus mal car c'était fameux ! Comme à la maison quoi. 19€ pour deux avec 1 coca, 1 verre de porto, le pain, plat, dessert, eau et café. Je recommande vivement. PS: les deux sœurs jumelles sont très sympas

Since when did restaurants stop being so simple. We were giving only two options for meals, both were veryyy good. 3 jars of wine, deserts and a total of 17€ for two... served super fast and the two twin sisters were so nice. Be careful tho as the place only accepts cash! However, they pointed us to an ATM and wouldn't even take the 10€ we had. Blind trusted us to come back and pay! People at its simplest form! I love it!

This is a great place to eat local, with lively views towards the river from the back terrace. The only have two things on the menu everyday: one fish dish and one meat. The entire bill for two people with drinks and dessert, and Porto wine under 25euros. Definitely will go again!

Horrendous. Fried fish that will bring back memories of Long John's Silvers from the USA. Super salty veal with Lays potato chips. Frozen meat and fish that is pumped out of the kitchen on an assembly line. And when you don't eat it, they guilt-trip and admonish you.

Do yourself a favor and have a meal here. As others have said, the food is delicious, well prepared and authentic. The family who run and operate the restaurant are efficient and quick, yet still remain friendly and helpful. Most tourists find this place through Google or TripAdvisor. And its not easy to find. They don't even have a storefront sign! But the locals all know it and make a bee line here every evening, with good reason. Definitely the best meal that we had in Porto.

Als je eens van de lokale keuken wil proeven is dit een echte aanrader! We werden heel vriendelijk ontvangen en mochten zelfs in de keuken gaan kijken wat er die dag op het menu stond.
Je hebt er de keuze tussen een vlees of vis gerecht. Het eten was heel lekker en spotgoedkoop.
