Staff are friendly regardless they were very busy. Even there were only two of them serving all the guest, they never forget about the smile! The food were great with very reasonable price (included the wine recommended by one of the staff). Highly recommend and please be patient and nice to the staff while you are waiting, they are just too busy.

We had a great lunch here. The menu is changing often and is not extensive, but it offers a number of real, well-prepared Portuguese dishes. The service of Cana Verde is very fast with old school hospitality, even if the restaurant is full. I had mix of grilled fish with salad, that was very fresh and tasty. The prices are very reasonable. I totally recommend this restaurant.

Hidden gem. Simple, delicious and cheap lunch - genuine Portuguese food and ambience. Go we’re the locals go. Be prepared to cue for a table, but service is quick.

Superbe restaurant typique portuguais
Menu à 8eur avec soupe + plat au choix + pain + café. Personnel sympathique et très efficace.
Nous avons testé filet de poisson et escalope de veau panée, un régal ! Ajoutez 1 eau + un verre de vin et 2 parts de desserts, mpins de 11eur par personne!
Attention : prevoir du liquide, il n'acceptent pas la CB

Excellent traditional portuguese cuisine, fantastic prices and great selection of daily dishes. Tried the spinach soup, the house special veal croquettes with rice, fries and a generous portion of salad. Deserts look delicious but may run out fast (but you can ask to reserve hehe). The place itself it always crowded given pricing and quality and it will get a bit noisy. Staff is very friendly, very busy and joyful, always making some light-hearted jokes.

Amazing traditional dishes, excellent service, good location, very authentic, good price.
I was there for a lunch and although it was super busy the staff was extremely nice and they made sure I get a table as soon as possible.
I had a typical fish dish of the day and it was delicious. They have a day menu price of 8 euros and it includes a soup, main and a coffee or dessert. I was offered a glass of port wine on the house at the end.
The staff was just lovely.
I would recommend this place for someone looking for a traditional culinary experience in a cozy ambient in the centre of Porto.
I found the price very good for the quality you get.

Great traditional food. Service is pleasant and attentive. Crowded with locales me tourist but def not a trap. Prices are totally fair given quality and service. Place as a wrk designed bar to eat at - which is my favorite place to eat. The Carapau - 2 horse mackerel was serviced while and grilled. Tasty. Has bones not that is to be expected. Simple side salad and potatoes. Had the Nabisca (turnip) soup. Tasty. Finished with Masça (apple) sauce. Um cafe. And a port. Also had a 1/2 bottle of the wine of the house. Super perfect with the food. Many items were comped. Second time here and will be back again.

Super amazing restaurant! Small and very homely. The host is very welcoming and laughs all evening.i would definitely recommend this as a must visit if you're ever in porto. The food to price ratio is the best and its a very traditional restaurant. We had to wait a while to get a table that sat 4 people, and they gave us free wine tastings while we waited. It's simply amazing.

At lunch time, this restaurant is filled with Portuguese businessmen and tourists in a 2/3 to 1/3 proportion, always a good sign. The lunch menu of soup and a dish (meat or fish) is incredibly delicious for the price (€8 when we were there), and the whole atmosphere has a hurried but friendly feel. Simple and delicious home cooking. Do as the Portuguese and have a half bottle of wine with your lunch! A real treat.

Voor de lunch tussen de lokale Portugezen gaan eten. Wij werden ontvangen met een glaasje port. Even wachten tot er een tafel vrij kwam. Het is we druk met Portugezen. Echt leuk.
De bediening legt de menu kaart uit, omdat het niet in het Engels staat beschreven.
Ik heb genoten van gefrituurde sardines met reist, sla, bonen/pasta (smaakt naar snert) en vooraf een soort bloemkool/aardappel soep.
De bediening gaat leuk in op de toeristen. Een lage prijs voor deze snelle hap.

Comidas típicas do Porto, menu variado com vários pratos à escolha como prato do dia. Sopa de entrada e acompanhamentos à vontade. Vinhos tinto e branco te servem à vontade.O típico de restaurante de comida caseira no Brasil.
Mas o melhor do cardápio é o atendimento e simpatia dos donos da casa. Ambiente espetacular, tipico de um bom almoço. Sem requinte mas sofisricado. Bons preços, aproximadamente 8 a 10 euros por pessoa com tudo incluso (entrada, prato principal, so remesa e bebidas).

Cibo decente per il prezzo di 11€ per persona.
Nota: Sono solo in 2 a servire i tavoli e li ho trovati un po' lentini quando c'è tanta gente.

The place looks cool with cheap prices but the food and service where the worst. We ordered see bass fish and it was undercooked and bloody. And although we told the waiter about it, he just took it to cook it more and return it to us.. but it was still bloody again (please see the picture I posted). The service was very rushed and the waiter was insisting to choose the wine from the house although we wanted to try something else. Most of the wine menu was not available although we asked for 4 different kinds that where not there. I would never eat there again!

Restaurante com um staff super simpático. A comida é de boa qualidade e os preços podemos considerar médios. Great local joint with homemade food and good service. They have lunch for 8 euro soup, bread and coffee included. The owner, Luigi is a real fun guy, he won’t let you leave without a shot of Porto on the house ! I highly recommend the sardines.

Depois de procurar na net, e de acordo com os comentários, optei por este restaurante. Comida bem confecionada. Quantidade e preços deixam muito a desejar. Só havia 2 variedades de sobremesas e 1de fruta. Grande desilusão. Não vou voltar, certamente.

Stumbled upon this amazing place after finding all restaurants closed after 2:00 pm. I don't know if it was the hunger, but the food was spectacular. I had the grilled fish and my wife the pork, both were simple and flavorful, I guess it's about the quality of the food. I highly recommend Cana Vede, the staff will make you fill like you are having lunch at home, enjoying grandma's special recipes. You may have to wait a little bit, but it's worth it. Also, is very well priced, below average for the area.

Nuestra visita fue totalmente casual, pasábamos por allli... nos llamó la atención porque parecía un sitio de comida casera en un entorno bastante turístico y para nada nos confundimos. Aún no habían servido la comida y ya nos habían ganado por la atención tan cercana y personalizada. Luigi el camarero que nos atendió todo un profesional súper atento. La comida muy casera y rica aunque no sea una carta extensa. Sin lugar a duda repetiremos en nuestra próxima visita

Choisissez les poissons grillés, fraîchement péchés, avec le vin blanc du pays. Personnel très sympa malgré le rythme effréné, parlant toutes les langues. Really loved this quaint, authentic restaurant. The waiter was exceptional... Funny and helpful. It's got a set menu in Portuguese but the waiter was very happy to translate and recommend what we would like.
Special mention to a spicy chilli oil which was amazing! Slow burn, beautiful taste and really highlighted the meal.
Ended with a small, sweet (free) Porto!

Excelente. El mejor restaurante de Porto. El típico bar de los de los de toda la vida, comida buena, barata... carta pequeñita pero todo casero, recién hecho y buenísimo.
Lo mejor: el camarero, que estaba atento, era agradable, gracioso.
La única pega es que es chiquito, así que no lo penséis mucho.
Y para los amantes de la comida de diseño, no os engañéis: Este no es el restaurante que buscáis. Pero aún así probad.

O lugar tem preços acessíveis (almoçamos entre duas pessoas por 18 euros), mas o atendimento deixa a desejar. O lugar tem apenas três garçons para perto de 20 mesas em horário de pico, o que faz com que o atendimento fique comprometido. O menu também é confuso, não conseguimos entender qual era o prato do dia.

Buen Menu, por 8 euros con pan y café SIN LECHE, bebida aparte. Nos dio un chupito al salir y como no habíamos tomado café nos dejó el menús por 7.50.
Tienes 2 platos de pescado combinado con patatas, lechuga y arroz para elegir y entre 5 d carnes dnd habia hamburguesa, pollo y ternera.trato genial amables y rapidos

As you well know, I'm very strict with food reviews. This one, happened to be SUPER good, I had to give it a 5 stars. Well, this food deserves it. The customer service was beyond good, by Luigi and his helper "Patricia". The food, OMG... my wife had the Duck rise, I had the veil with potatoes, my wife's uncle, who was a chef in NY, had COD fish and his wife had the fried Rovalo fish. We were expecting a decent meal, but for our surprise, it was more than good. I will recommend it to USA people and Latin American people, who can identify good seasoning and great food testing and excellent service. The calamari were SO SO GOOD. I hope you have the same experience we had.

Attention ce n est pas de la grande cuisine, mais de la vrai cuisine, pour les jours de tt les jours !
Service rapide, le personnel de salle ne chaume pas.
Pour notre part, bière + soupe + plat + café + dessert pour 11e/p.
Si vous ne prenez pas de café, compris dans le menu, on ne vous le facture pas.
Porto digestif offert par la maison !

Ce restaurant est vraiment pas cher et auprès de tout. Serveurs très rapides et au petit soin sans en faire trop. On as mangé à 2 personnes pour 14€ (soupe/plat complet /désert/vin blanc + eau et café chaque un) .
Vraiment frais,bon,prix imbattable, comme quoi faut bien choisir sont restaurant sans forcément être trop regardent sur la façade !

O restaurante rústico Cana Verde emana a alma do Porto. Localizado na zona histórica, na rua dos artesãos. Pratos típicos da cidade Invicta (Porto). Boa comida caseira a preços acessíveis. O pessoal é simpático e sempre disponível. A sala de refeições é uma mistura de turistas e dos mais genuínos tripeiros (habitantes do Porto). Prato, bebida e café: 7 euros.
Recomendação: convém estar presente a partir das 12h para não esperar.

We liked this place a lot!! If you come after 12PM expect queues but don't worry, you may get shot of port wine for free while waiting. The same while waiting for paying. WARNING: make sure you don't give big banknotes if you have to pay small amount - the cashier will try to shot himself with old fashioned gun :( :D

Pequeño comedor pero muy satisfactoria la experiencia. Menú por 8 euros... Bebida y postre a parte. La atención del dueño muy agradable. Buena gente. Comimos un pescado riquísimo. Merece la pena.

The food was delicious, we got soup, fish, coffee for 8e. The wine is not included but it was 2e per glass and strong in Portuguese style. The staff is amazing, we even got some kind of liquor shot. I would definitely recommend it to you for a real Portuguese lunch experience. One of the best meal we had in Porto.

We loved this place. Not much of a menu choice, but they treat you like family, give a few choices, and then feed you very well! The staff is very friendly and love to kid around. It’s chaotic and busy and a lot of fun. The staff sometimes gives away little shots of port, which my wife loved. Great food, great fun. Limited menu and NO CREDIT CARDS!

Comida casera increíble! La atención de primera! No te cobran el pan ni la ensalada extra que te ponen, es un restaurante visitado por locales, lo que lo hace especial. No duden en ir y déjense llevar! Precios muy buenos, como los postres ;)

This place is priceless ! .

Speedy service , simple menu well explained by greeting waiter.
I liked the dessert enthusiasm too.
Waiter or should I say waiters gave us one free drink each(digestive port 1 white and 1 tawny) so I am now drunk but fit after running to the cash machine . Oops no cash.

Acabamos de estar ahí tras guiarnos por las opiniones y ha sido nefasto. El menú que había en la puerta tenía gran variedad pero cuando hemos entrado no tenían de nada, pensábamos levantarnos pero por educación no lo hemos hecho (error y grande), la comida malísima (salada, muy seco todo, ...), por momentos hemos pensado que nos estaban dando las sobras porque no era normal que fuese tan desastroso. Entiendo que tendrán que comer pero estaban más preocupados de sentarse ellos a comer que de atender a la clientela y eran 3 mesas solo.
Para terminar le pedimos la cuenta y eran 18,70 pero al no elegir postre (no ibamos a correr ese riesgo) nos dejaron la cuenta en 17,5.

A cualquier que visite el entorno del río Duero Le recomendamos encarecidamente que pase a comer por este restaurante, es una auténtica delicia el menú que nos ofrecieron, la crema de verduras estaba de maravilla pero es que la merluza que vino después me puso los pelos de punta de lo buena que era, y el vino entra solo de lo bueno que es. El tratamiento del personal es de lo mejor que he visto nunca, agradable simpáticos y el precio te deja helado por lo barato que es, de verdad os lo digo merece la pena buscarlo, esta un pelin escondido pero con el maps lo podéis encontrar bien. Volveremos sin dudarlo. Servicio de 10 sobre 10!!!

El trato es buenísimo y la comida muy rica. La fachada no te invita a entrar, es pequeñita! Pero merece la pena arriesgar xq una vez dentro no hay detalle q los camareros pasen por alto. Repetiré!

Chose this place based on both Google and Trip Advisor reviews and they were spot on. Nothing fancy here but what you get is a well cooked Portuguese meal. At 7 € you are supposed to get bread, soup, main, and coffee. We arrived just before closing and didn't get our soup. Perhaps they ran out. I wanted to deduct a star for that but our friendly waiter offset that with a free bottled water, fries, and a top up of our wine. My wife a had a very moist fried fish and I had tasty grilled mackerel and sardines (2). Half bottle of wine with lunch set us back an extra 3€.
