Lovely place.. very tranquil , country house in its own grounds, yet very close to the town centre. Very clean. Lots of character. Great service from all the staff especially Paula.

Lovely and peacefull hotel with stunning hotel grounds! Large pool with nice views (water quite cold in March). Friendly staff. We had our room in separate small building so it was perfect. Not sure are other rooms as lovely. If I ever return to Sintra I will come here again.

Extraordinary property. Absolutely gorgeous grounds. Stately, refined room. A bit hard to find (especially in the dark, when its raining), but definitely worth the time hunting it down!Room was exceptional. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Service was extraordinary.

Casa Holstein is located at a 15 minute walk from the Vila Velha section of Sintra. It is a lovely Ripert’s with three caveats: a) the hotel is very difficult to find and due to the lack of signage and clear access, b) parking is far from the accommodations and c) the site is very steep and requires a lot of up and down on stairs. Also, the pool is only open during high season.

Alojamiento con encanto, bien atendido y cuidado y en pleno centro de Sintra. A destacar los estupendos jardines y la piscina con vistas para días de verano.

Beautiful property with good sized rooms and bathroom. Wonderful gardens. Sintra is a difficult city to drive around and parking can be a problem. I found the parking info lacking from the booking of the hotel but it turns out you can park for free on their property so all worked out well in the end. Breakfast looked sumptuous though we had to leave early to get back to Lisbon. They were very accommodating and arranged for our breakfast a little early.

Para quem quer viver um conto de fadas, aconselho a ficar neste local. Beleza circundante e magia no ar combinado com a simpatia do staff , tornam este local especial. Vários restaurantes perto e Palácio de Sintra fica a poucos minutos à pé. Para quem quiser visitar Sintra, passem uma noite neste hotel.

Fantástica Quinta, compuesta de varias edificaciones enclavadas en un extenso y magnífico jardín. Cuenta también con una preciosa piscina. La garden suite que ocupábamos está alejada de los edificios principales y cuenta con jardín privado.

Absolutely stunning hotel and location! This hotel is so charming and breathtakingly beautiful. Breakfast is excellent - as all breakfasts in Portugal! I highly recommend this lovely hotel and Florentina, the manager, is excellent. Beautiful pool and gardens too.

Amazing location, beautiful grounds and great accommodation. A welcoming check-in and some good recommendations for dinner from reception along with attentive service during our stay. Casa Holstein has an amazingly calm atmosphere and is really well situated for walking, driving or getting the bus to the many attractions of Sintra. Hopefully well be back again!

This is a beautiful hotel located on a large piece of property but still in a great location. It consists of several pretty buildings as it was once a royal hunting lodge. Our room was large with many windows, a comfortable bed and bedding, a beautiful marble bathroom, an many beautiful antiques in the room. There was a pretty patio area overlooking the gardens and a very pretty breakfast room opening to a patio. The breakfast had many choices. There are pretty peacocks roaming around the property. You are walking distance to the train and sites and restaurants.

Bellissima struttura finemente ristrutturata. Posto veramente di gran classe. Vista meravigliosa sul centro storico che si raggiunge con una bellissima passeggiata. Personale molto disponibile. Il proprietario gentilissimo. Per arrivare seguite le indicazioni di google maps e gli ultimi metri sono di una strada senza uscita. Il cancello è in fondo a sinistra. Posto ottimo per chi cerca pace e tranquillità. Le camere sono come ma senza tv.

Bella struttura nel verde con ampio parcheggio interno , vicino al centro storico . Camere moderne in queste dependance danno la propria indipendenza . Bagno carino anche se nn troppo spazioso . Colazione sufficiente anche a e con il personale ingenerale molto giovane si vede inesperienza anella gestione .

A grand "old lady" resembling a bygone era of travel. We had two rooms for two nights. Yes, I got a room in basement near breakfast room and kitchen, yes it was a bit noisy early morning, yes there is a dog (he never barked), yes there is no TV (talk to each other or read), BUT it is still a great venue. Lovely bathroom, wonderful bed, lovely breakfast, friendly staff. A good hotel!

Amazing hotel. Great staff, Diana was warmly welcoming and taking care of us. We got great wine as welcome drinks. It seems to be a private house. The gate opens only if someone from the reception opens it after ringing. If nobody is there, just call the telephone number at the gate. You can see the castle and the fort on top of the hill. Rooms are great, royalty like. No TVs! Great bathrooms. A nice public reading room on first floor. Only the breakfast experience was not that good (therefore only 4 stars). Only pineapples as freshly cut fruits. Way too less space - people cannot reach the coffee without bothering others. Pastels were old. Maybe because it is end of November, after season. We were desperately missing some music during breakfast. Small room, many people... In summer the garden must be amazing. But I would come here again. Tipp: Eat at restaurant Metamorphosis! Great food. Reception will make the reservation for you.

This casa Holstein is amazing! We were greeted so warmly with a delicious glass of rose wine. The history was very interesting and we later met one of the nephews of Salvador, who grew up there and may have stayed in our room! . Susan was so gracious and helped us in every way, along with the receptionist. Our room and bath was very spacious and beautiful and the grounds and buildings were exquisite. By far, the best hotel stay of our trip to Portugal!

Der Empfang durch den nepalesischen Rezeptionist war hervorragend. Ein junger Mann, der scheonbar eine sehr gute Ausbildung durchlaufen hat, und sehr darum gemüht war, alles perfekt zu machen. Das Zimmer war sehr schön und das Bett bequem. Alles war sauber und gepflegt. Man sollte sich aber bewusst sein, dass solch ein altes Gebäude nicht so gut isoliert ist und man ggf. etwas aus dem Flur mitbekommt. Die kleine Stufe im Zimmer sollte abgeschrägt werden. Leider haben wir einen verletzten Zeh durch einen unachtsamen nächtlichen Toilettengang zu beklagen. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet und bot einiges an qualitätiv hochwertiger Auswahl. Bei schönem Wetter kann man draußen sitzen und den Garten genießen. Das Gelände insgesamt ist sehr schön. Die Zufahrt muss jedoch besser ausgeschildert werden! Man fährt eine schmale Gasse vom Kreisel herunter, die als Sackgasse ausgeschildert ist. Am Ende wird es sehr steil und man steht vor einem großen Tor, wo man klingeln muss. Wir hatten zuerst das Auto abgestellt und zu Fuß erkundet, um in den engen, steilen Gassen nicht rückwärts setzen zu müssen.

Amazing place to stay. Loved it. Great service. Only 1 Minor problem was the shower which went hot and cold and the pipe of the hot tap was easy to accidentally touch and was very hot to touch.

The hotel is part of a beautiful estate belonging to an old Portugese family. Grounds are beautiful and include bonuses like 9 peacocks roaming past the windows. The rooms have old fashioned charm and modern comforts.

This is a perfect spot; beautiful place, lovely staff, quiet, close to buses, and wonderful breakfast. We loved everything about it. Plan on coming back.

The place was nice and charming, we arrived very late, but someone was waiting for us at the gate for check-in, he was very friendly too. Breakfast was good has well. Overall a wonderful stay in a perfect area of Sintra. The only thing was the room (#7), it had an odor of moisture, I would not have stayed another night because of that.

Amazing place, a fairytale story... our room had its own terrace and we woke up to discover peacocks roaming around. If you stay there, make sure to go to the pool area to watch the sunset.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful and cozy hotel. The bed was super comfortable and the staff were relentless and making sure that you were served well.

Beautiful calming property in a lovely and useful location. Sadly the pool was not operational at the time of our visit and I feel like we should have been notified in advance.

Room was damp and cold because airconditioners were not working. Receptionist tried to mask issue multiple times impolitely until she finally called an engineer to arrive from another location to resolve issue.

Lovely grounds, very peaceful, room was very comfortable and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, we wish we could have had more than one night. The only issue we had was finding the place as I think the signs are for cars and direct you to the rear of the place.

New signage made the hotel very difficult to find the first time. Was frustrating. However, the staff were nice and the room was comfortable but pricey for what you got. When we awoke in the morning the pure white bathroom was covered in hundreds of little dead flies and a couple small beetles... The breakfast was average.
