Just reading through reviews here, and I agree with those that point out the "attitude problem" issue with this place. I am not sure why the people behind the counter are working in the hospitality industry. I have travelled to many countries and many cosmopolitan or touristy cities, but I have to say I was shocked at the consistent unpleasant attitude of restaurants and bars in Porto. This place topped the list. I came in, to ask if they have a toilet. The reply was "yes, but you have to order." I said, "that's fine, I can order, but can I please use the toilet first?" My husband was there beside me and was ready to order. But they said, "no, order first" and said it rudely, too. As you can see from the pictures of this place and the price of their menu items, this is not a cheap establishment where sometimes one would tolerate bluntness or rudeness. However, that is the attitude of both the man and the woman behind the counter. Arrogant and rude, without the semblance of working for the hospitality industry. I already said I would order, but I just need to use their facilities first. What did they think -- that I would run out of the door, past them, after I use their facilities? Never. go. to. this. place. Better bars in Foz, where people are nicer.

Chanced upon this place while on the way to the Duoro bridge. The prices were pricey but acceptable for an area next to a tourist spot. However, for the prices they were charging, this is absolutely not worth a single cent. The Ice coffee is basically lukewarm milk water. Lemonade is so bland and tasteless. On top of that, while my partner was choosing his drink, i decided to use the washroom and the waiter insisted that we had to order first.

Extremely expensive for the low quality of food they serve, slow and unorganized service, they do not even know the tables number and are totally lost when bringing the food and the worst ever, is the unfriendly managers forbidding the entrance to the toilet. I would suggest not to spend a EUR in this place.

Buen trato por parte del personal, pero comparado con otros restaurantes de Oporto, es muy caro (42€ pagamos por una jarra de sangria, dos tostas de chorizo y queso, y una tabla de quesos).
La comida estaba buena.

Friend and I were looking for a quick place to grab a drink. We asked to sit outside without any issues, but then as we were looking over the menu (very expensive for the record), the server came to take our order. She ran off before we could respond and asked us to order inside because others had entered the restaurant. She unexpectedly came back minutes later as my friend and I were still looking over the menu, bluntly asked what we wanted, and when we said we were still looking said she “couldn’t come back 20 times.” I explained we were still figuring out what we wanted but she refused to take that as an answer and said “order or leave,” so we left.

Espresso coffee tastes terrible and if you need to use their small dirty toilet you have to prove that you're a guest by showing your table number, and only then you can stand in a long line and wait for your turn. Very poor experience altogether.

It was a very moderate experience at this bar, there’s both inside and outside seats but I decided to seat outside as the view was nicer. The service here is lacking as it took a good 5-10 mins before anyone came out to take our order, I also had to get the menu myself. The servers also seemed hesitant and also unsure about their products. The craft beer selection seems to be okay but none of the beers I had were amazing or worth buying again. I paid €23 for my drinks which was one flight and 2 bottles of beer which is on the pricier side considering the service quality.
I would say that if you want a quick drink this is a very normal spot to come to but I wouldn’t come back again.

PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED BY SERVERS AND OWNERS. This was without any exaggeration my worst ever experience at a bar, cafe or restaurant. I went in a group of four, one of whom was highly pregnant; some of us were sitting, I was removing my bag to sit, and one of us went to use the toilets. A server came bounding over, shouting loudly, to stop her as she went. This was very strange: initially I assumed that the server wanted to stop her from going in the wrong direction, and then when it was rudely communicated that she would have to order first, my reaction was to explain that we were all part of the same group. Anyway we were shocked and the server stood over us shouting that we needed to order immediately (we had not even had time to look through the menu yet). We got up and said that we were leaving, at which point the server and several others got extremely agitated. They swarmed around us shouting, we tried to reason and explain to the others, who were just as bad. At one point one of the servers tried to literally push my eight-months pregnant friend out of her seat as she was attempting to reason with him. We managed to get out and were pursued onto the street. Minute by minute more servers and family members seemed to be getting involved, shouting, physically pushing and gesticulating violently. Some people from the neighbouring businesses came out and supported us, told us that we should go to the police and report the matter, that this happened regularly. In the end I didn't want to waste more time from my few days in Porto at a police station. But this was a truly shocking experience.

Please avoid this place. You are not allowed to use a restroom unless you had already ordered something. Guy (might be an owner) physically held a restroom door and demanded an order to let into the restroom.
What is wrong if I want to wash my hands and then sit down, look at the menu an order?
Guy said: “Just order a wine and you can use a restroom. “ Really? I don’t know your wine selection, prices, you never showed me a menu... So disrespectful!

Nice view, expensive wine. The tea was a super market home brand tea bag served with a dirty teapot, cup and spoon. Everything looks like its been washed by hand. You have to prove to be a customer to get passed the rude owners to use the tiny dirty toilet.

La vue est belle et il ya de belles bières à la carte pour ravir les amateurs mais les tarifs sont beaucoup plus élevés que dans d'autres bar du même genre. Contentez vous d'un café et allez boire votre bière ailleurs.

Atendimento péssimo. Atitude péssima. Uma tal Dona Patrícia. Entrei e pedi para usar o WC e num tom arrogante, com muito pouco nível disse-me que não. Incrédula parei um segundo o que fez com que a tal Dona Patrícia me dissesse " tem que consumir" ... Ainda incrédula, saí e agradeci. Veio atrás de mim até à porta. Pego no telemóvel para tirar uma foto a tão digno espaço e a tal senhora ainda se acha no direito/dever de rematar com: "aí diz CAL FOOD & DRINK não diz WC"... Nem respondi porque a minha educação não me permite mas partilho e fica aqui o meu testemunho. Quem nasce pequeno nunca cresce... A não visitar.

Lugar nefasto !!! El trató por parte del personal todavía peor super desagradables sobretodo por parte de la encargada o la que parece encargada, tiene muy malas contestaciones y dejadez en su trabajó lugares asi tendrian que cerrar. Igial que a otros crientes como e visto en otras reseñas tambien a mi me prohibieron ir al baño por creer que no era clienta y ponerse delante impidiendome el paso.No se lo recomiendo a nadie !!! Pd: yo tambien soy camarera y ese trato tan desagrable sin venir a cuento no tiene justificación!!

Serveuse odieuse et agressive envers une femme enceinte.
Dernier bar avant le pont. Ça avait l'air sympa. Mes amies s'asseyent pour boire un verre. Je rentre pour accéder aux toilettes. Je demande à une serveuse brune et forte où sont-elles. Elle me dit qu'il faut commander d'abord. Je lui dis que mes amis sont assises dehors et attendent la carte, et que je suis vraiment pressée. Elle insiste. Je lui dis que je suis enceinte et dois vraiment y aller. Elle me colle le menu sous le nez... j'aurais encore pu tenir 5 minutes, je lui aurais bien dit d'aller se faire voir. J'ai donc dû choisir un vitesse un cocktail sans conviction pour accéder aux toilettes uniques, aores avoir attendu encore 2 minutes, pour passer derrière un type qui laisse la lunette relevée.. de quoi mettre de bonne humeur et donc se coller de bonnes contractions gratos.
Quant au bar, les boissons sont moyennes et les prix trop élevés par rapport à la qualité. Les olives sont du premier prix, tout comme la feta.
Seul le serveur black était aimable et professionnel.
Nous sommes toutes les 4 déçues et choquées de l'accueil.
Nous allons payer. Je demande à voir la patron. Le trentenaire m'écoute et la serveuse vient se mettre au milieu et commence à contester. Elle dit que elle aussi a été enceinte (so what?) et que c'est un lieu touristique. La règle est la même pour tous même les femmes enceintes. Je lui ai dit que c'est intolérable et que je voulais simplement des excuses. Elle me dit qu'elle ne s'excusera jamais. Une véritable morue et aigrie de surcroît. Jamais je n'ai vu un accueil aussi déplorable.
Vraiment à déconseiller!

Nice and pleasant space. Didn't order food so can't comment on that. However, the selection of beer is overpriced compared to some of the other fantastic craft beer bars in Porto. What was really disappointing was that out of a couple of craft beers we'd ordered one of them was off. Basically the yeast in it had overreacted and was not in a drinkable state. The guy (waiter? owner?) just nonchalantly stated "that's craft beer, it's non-linear". It's definitely not the way craft beer is supposed to be and generally it's a poor attitude to have toward customers.

8€ for a pint of a very standard IPA.. I work in a craft beer bar in Barcelona (a quite more expensive city) and same beer would not cost more than 6,5€, even in the most touristic bars. Considering you can have lunch in Porto for 6€, this bar is kind of a web to get tourist's money.. Here I leave a photo of a brewpub's price list just 10min away from this bar..

The craft beer was around 4,5 to 5€, which is a bit pricy for Portugal but expected in craft beer bars. The guy that recommended beers was really friendly and the area outside is nice to seat in to enjoy the warm weather.

A deconseiller!!! Extrêmement désagréable!!!
Installés en terrasse en famille, nous avons du passer "officiellement " notre commande avant que ma fille de 7 ans puisse accéder aux toilettes!!!!
Le serveur très gentil était vraiment désolé de cette situation imposée par son responsable.

Personal muy desagradable y trato muy muy malo. Después de haber pedido he ido al servicio, y pensando que no era cliente me han hecho un interrogatorio. No me ha parecido nada normal. Hemos pedido una tapa que estaba bastante mala, parecía pulpo de latilla, y cuando hemos terminado mi pareja ha ido al servicio. No le dejaban ir al servicio porque " no era cliente" y otra vez un interrogatorio... El trato recibido no ha sido bueno. Cero recomendable!!!

Valoro a nivel copa + terraza. Copa Premium entre 7-10€. Tienes una carta con todos los precios, sino te cuadra te vas, si sí.. a disfrutarla!!! Por cierto la gente que valora con 1 star porq no le dejan usar el WC gratis sea embarazada, niña o abuelo... lamentable!!!

Overpriced. Owner was grumpy. Food was average but Cod came as a small plate with nothing at all on the side so overpriced. Craft beer very expensive. Total for small Cod plate, small beer, bread and a water was over 16 euros. There are many better places for much less.

Belle découverte lors de notre séjour à Porto nous y sommes retournés plusieurs fois pour leurs bons mojitos accompagnés de quelques pasteis de nata réchauffées sur place mais meilleures que dans certaines boulangeries. Bon accueil gérante sympathique !

We ordered beer tasting set after walked up the stairs. Various craft beers for trying. Also have Port wine tasting set also around €10/ set and remember to order inside. There’s a sign putting in front but not too obvious. If you happen to pass by can give it a try.

Great spot to have a quick beer after you have walked through the famous bridge Luiz I right next to it. Nice terrace, nice inside, super nice staff who tell you about the beers and explain whatever you want to know. I really enjoyed stopping here for about an hour and relaxing from a day of tourism.

Um local a não voltar, depois de esperar em fila indiana e o amigo precisar ir ao wc foi interdito pois apenas depois de esperar na fila e por fim pagar é que poderia aceder ao wc. Pois dizem que é muito turistico etc etc...nada português, nada de pessoas hospitaleiras compreensivas ou humanas...

We only stopped by to grab a quick glass of wine before seeing the fado show across the street. The staff was friendly and got us our wine very fast. The interior looked nice and the ambience was good. I thought the wine tasted fine too. As we did not eat I can't say anything about the food.

Locale molto carino, ma personale troppo scortese. Ho chiesto di poter usare il bagno, ma ho dovuto prima ordinare al bancone e poi pagare una birra neanche buona e fin troppo costosa. Solo dopo aver pagato, vi fanno accedere al bagno, neanche fosse una stanza di Versailles. Il posto non ne vale la pena per la scortesia del personale. Ovunque ma non lì. Sconsigliatissimo!

Kind staff with a big assortment of drinks. The bad reviews I do not understand! It’s a very touristic location so ordering before you go to the toilet isn’t that weird! :) the staff was super friendly and happy. A bit pricey but good quality.

Don't let the negative reviews deter you. This bar is wonderful! The owner and staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful in selecting a local craft beer to match our individual tastes. Their selection (both draft and bottles) is unique in that it is entirely Portuguese beers--no imports. I never thought I'd find a sour Portuguese beer (Simbiose by Post Scriptum)! Overall, this place has a great selection and plenty of space inside and out to enjoy beers you won't find in many other places.
They're right next to the Luís I Bridge, so while it's a photogenic, convenient location, there are a lot of clueless and entitled tourists who wander through. Most of the negative reviewers are complaining about not being able to just waltz in and use the bathroom without actually buying anything or are surprised that good beer costs more than €1. Don't listen to their whining. Drink delicious beer from this local family business instead!

Nice to have some choice other than Super Bock! We didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food but most people who have given poor reviews seemed to be more annoyed with their toilet policy (completely understandable given their location) If you are after an excellent selection of craft beer and actually bother to chat to the staff, you’ll probably be happy here

The worst experience in Porto reataurants.. My bf and I went in for food and my bf wanted to use the washroom. The lady insist we order and pay first in order to use it. This totaly turned us away. It's not like we were trying to trick them for free toilet. It just suggested that this is not a friendly restaurant. Didn't end up eating here so no comment for food and drink. I'd imagine the service wouldn't be superb.

Mala experiencia, estábamos en la terraza fui a entrar al baño antes de pedir y me dijeron de malas maneras q había que hacer el pedido primero, le explique q estába mi mujer y le dio igual, tuve q hacer el pedido, por cierto el precio elevadísimo para el pésimo trato al cliente q ofrecen, 9 euros un vino normal y una caña pequeña normal, CARÍSIMO Y MAL TRATO, NO RECOMENDADO.

We are here now and must say the bad reviews seem like total malarkey. We are drinking a stout and sour - both delicious and great examples of their types. The staff and who we think are the proprietors are charming and helpful. The people watching and views are incredible. I sincerely question the absurdity of 1 star reviews. Our review would be 5 stars, but the bathroom situation is a little tight.
Give this place a try.

Terrível! Copo de vinho mínimo e o mais barato que há custa 6 euros. Tive de pedir para servirem mais. O funcionário disse que era a medida, mostrou a medida de referência e o servido estava muito abaixo. Encheu mais um bocado mas continua a não justificar o preço. A porta da rua estava aberta e estava um gelo.

El sitio es muy coqueto, llama la atención y te invita a entrar. Es verdad que te piden que pidas y pagues en la barra antes, pero a mí no me parecieron bordes como dicen. Es cierto que los precios son caros., No hay variedad de tapas y la calidad es justita. Aún así yo estuve agusto. Sin volverme loca, pero bien. Sin más.

Dans ma vie de consommateur, je n'ai jamais vu ça ! Il faut payer une consommation pour S'ASSEOIR !! Oh les mecs pour s'asseoir j'ai dit ! Ils perdent des clients et ils sont dans le déni total (la serveuse balance des 'OMG' jusqu'au ciel tout ça parce qu'on ose s'asseoir en rentrant...). Alors imaginé leur tête quand on va au toilettes sans rien demander... Et le service en lui même : amateurisme !! Si t'aime la mousse à 8€ t'es au royaume des dieux !

There is a reason why the grade is so low.
For this kind of place ZERO star should exist!
Staff are so impolite, rude and totaly not for tourist place like Porto. Young waiter with curly hair and very bad english did not allow a lady to go to the toilette even though she paid for her drink.
And prices...oh boy...they are HIGH!
Walk 20 meters longer and You will find a lot of places with better service and where You will be treated like a person.
Never ever again!

Closer to starting a fight than beeing friendly !
2 kids wanted to use the restroom before we actually ordered (we tried allready, but its only possible inside).
Very quick they where 3 people in front of the counter starting to scream and pushing arround.
We didnt even get to the overpriced beers and the bad smelling bathrooms (as other reviews here say), we had to leave as one men came very close and started to say in portugese "hit me, come on hit me..."
Go there if you like barfights, for eveything else, stay away !

Prices are fine for such a heavily touristed area (right on the north side of the major pedestrian bridge). Most of the bad reviews seem to be pretty off base, if you slow down, and get to know Porto. We had a lovely time, and their port cooler was the best port tonic we had all week. If we wander by this part of town again, we would definitely stop back by.

Interesting to see the sheer weight of terrible reviews. Fascinating that owners don't give a s@#$@#$. Anyway an ok bar at best. Good location and I only went in for the craft beer. Exy at 5e for a half and the tap list was a bit underwhelming. Give the strength of options in this town no need for a return.

Asked for a smoothie... it took the gentleman behind the bar 10mn to find the smoothie on this machine. When we finally managed to pay we were served a mango smoothie with no taste of mango at all! We asked for a coke instead which is - less expensive than the smoothie and asked for a pastel de mata as well to compensate the price of the smoothie . We were told we got the coke for free LOL - the waiter didn’t try to apologies for the issue. No hospitality or commercial attitude at all! Avoid this place...

My wife and I were standing outside this establishment this morning with a tour group. One of the servers came over to set up a table (on the outside sidewalk) and he was to the side so we did not see him. He simply could have tapped my wife on the shoulder to let us know he was trying to set up, but instead he very forcefully shoved her on the shoulder. He told her to get out of the way, and did not apologize. We were standing on a public sidewalk. Don’t give a bit of money to a place that treats women like this.

El local prometía. Precio elevado, pero se asume por lugar turístico en centro de Oporto... variedad de cervezas... el problema fue al usar el baño. La propietaria me dijo que primero tenía que consumir y le indiqué que estaba en la terraza... se puso como una loca que tenía que hacer cola y consumir antes... le traté de explicar que ya consumiera pero se puso muy borde. Al final discutimos mucho y pedí hona de reclamaciones que ni me la quiso dar... eso, que variedad de cervezas... la mujer debería de dedicarse a otra cosa porque la atención al público no es lo suyo

Great location, nice drink selection. Staff were great - not sure what the other reviews were referring to.
Location is superb - right by the bridge - and in other city would be insanely expensive, but here it was perfectly reasonable. Recommended.

Vergonzoso... Ni se os ocurra.. Se nos hacia tarde para visitar el puente don luis. Íbamos con un bebé de 1 año.. Y dos más de 5 meses.. Total. Me siento a pedir y mientras mi mujer entra y Le pide a la responsable que por favor Le caliente en el micro un Tupper con pure para la cría.. Tarda en volver y me la encuentro discutiendo con la encargada.. Que no Le calentaba nada si no pedíamos... Un Tupper para un crío... Total.. Caña a 8 euros... Que me sentó como una patada en los mismos.. Ni se os ocurra.. Sinverguenzas

Ni fu ni fa.. pedimos mojito de maracuyá y de precio un poco caro, un Pink panther por 6 muy caro...
Han cambiado, ahora hay terraza, no es como está en Google maps, la terraza está muy bonita, y la calle es peatonal asique ganarán clientes.

Staff were friendly enough but they did ask us to order inside even though there were no other customers. We didn't eat but the coffee and nata were both bad. The nata weren't cooked properly - the pastry seemed to still be raw and wasn't crisp at all.

So good we came back twice in two days. We stopped the first time only because we were hungry and it was right there. We expected a tourist trap because of the location near the King Luis bridge. What we got was the opposite of that- Funky atmosphere, great music, great food, great wine, casual but great service. Highly recommended, and that's from a Melburnian who knows & loves her food & wine.

5€ for a half pint?! BEWARE or this place - total tourist ripoff. Beer is mediocre and there are MANY more reputable craft beer places in Porto. Bad form all around.

Stumbled across this place on New Year's Eve 2017. Dropped in for a drink in the afternoon and returned for the evening meal. Six of us made most welcome by friendly couple. The food was excellent and they provided a vegetarian option. A suitable wine was served with each course. There was a selection of craft ales to choose from. We took our champagne glasses out onto the bridge to toast the New Year. All in all a great little place. Love to go back.
Very reasonably priced for a busy night.

This place is a true gem. Family local spot with the nicest people. Delicious home cooked food and very affordable. And if you are lucky you will get to see the young boy. He is hilarious and entertained us all night. Such a memorable evening. Thank you!!

Nice place with pretty good food and beers, but beer way too expensive, specially considering the service is not quite up to that high price standard. It's quite clear that is a family-run business that don't have much experience in hostelry, but what's worse, don't look very motivated at all.

Estoy embarazada (y se nota mucho), hoy les pregunté si podía entrar al baño y me lo negaron, aunque les pedí por favor y les dije que estaba embarazada. No sé cómo es la comida o bebida ya que, evidentemente, no tomé nada. Pero os puedo decir que son unos maleducados y que no tienen ni una pizca de empatía. Además pregunté por el libro de reclamaciones y no quisieron dármelo porque "no era cliente", me dijeron de forma muy desagradable que si quería, llamara a la policía. TIENEN UN 1 PORQUE NO PUEDO PONER 0, pero sería lo que merecen.

We stumbled on this place accidentally as we had some time to kill before we could check in to our airbnb. At 12pm the bar was empty and we quickly ordered our beers and some sandwiches.
The sardines on toast and the toasta mista came on lovely bread with top quality ingredients. For €3.50 this is a bargain.
After this with some time still on our hands we tried their port tonics which were the best we tried the whole trip. Well worth the €4.
Overall a lovely little place to stop for lunch or just a drink, we came back for a second time on our last night for some aperitifs.
If you're lucky the owners of the bar might bring their puppy for a walk outside of the bar, it Is outrageously cute.

A child watching TV with full audio volume, the father or grand father watching with him... No way to chill out with nice music. Very few choice of beers, of food. Poor service, poor interior design. Well... not a so good spot. :-(

It is a nice, peaceful, modern style designed coffe house..
