Clean, professional, the hostel is well maintained and looks really nice , the staff are helpful and friendly, theirs a communal supper and breakfast every day included and every night one of the staff members takes every one out ! If your looking for a nice socially active hostel definitely check it out

My first solo trip abroad - had one of the best short holidays of my life. Most of it was thanks to the staff and folks at Hostel One Ribeira. Lorenzo made me feel so welcome right away when I arrived, was incredibly friendly and helpful, we had some great chats throughout the weekend. Pedro took us on a small walking tour around the city the next day, he was super knowledgeable and had an awesome sense of humour. I learnt so much about the rich history of the city. Everyone is welcome to join for a nice communal dinner every night for free and breakfast in the morning. They then host drinking games, and those who are up for it are taken out later to bars downtown. Met lots of interesting people and had many memorable conversations. This is not an ordinary hostel, it’s a hostel all others should aspire to become!

Feeling like home, be aware, its noise until 11:30PM then the party people leave. Nice "family" dinner and bread and jam in the morning. Very close to the city center . Liked it a lot, will come again !

The hostel itself is nice, good location, comfy beds. But what makes this place exceptional are the wonderful staff most especially the volunteers Alfredo and Rodrigo.Very genuine and welcoming they go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and at ease! Thank you guys, you are amazing!Feels like home and like a family.Recommended place to stay in Porto! Kudos!

The moment you walk in the hostel you feel like home. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. The free breakfast with pancakes, the free family dinners. These guys cook for you! They put so much effort and care into all these. After the family dinners, they do the whole drinking games which are a laugh! I have been in several hostels in Europe but this deserves a CROWN! They even take you out every night to different bars and clubs. And at 15 hrs they have e free walking tour. This hostel's great. Great Staff!!! Everone is so friendly!!

I would give this place a five stars review because there is no six or more . Great atmosphere , lovely people , friendy staff , great and caring manager ,very kind and warm welcome , full of activities fun and familial . environment i think it is the best in portugal if not in whole europe

Why do I love hostel one's so much.the best thing is the staff know it's me. If you understand what I'm trying to say then come. this is the best place for alcoholism and an interesting conversation thanks again couldn't recommend highly enough

Nice hostel in a good location for food, shopping and being a tourist in Porto. The room was quite small, luckily I had it to myself. The wifi was good and fast. Amenities onsite were plentiful and they even had free nightly walking tours. The downside, and what would keep me from staying here again was the noise. It was loud into the late night hours, well beyond quiet time. I guess this can be expected of a hostel, but this one seemed excessive of all hostels I've stayed at.

I stayed here this summer and kept meaning to write a review and kept forgetting but finally here I am! I was one of the first guests to stay at the hostel when they opened and they were so welcoming and treated all of the guests like family. The hostel was clean and the vibes were really nice; you could just chill if you wanted or party if you wanted to. I actually was working on my thesis some and everyone was totally supportive and didn't harass be to try and come out or sell me a pub crawl like a lot of hostels will. They hostel had family dinners, nights out, and would take guests to local sights during the day. I should mention prior to this I had lived in Porto for six months so I wasn't just a tourist so I had a different perspective than most and I thought they did an amazing job! I definitely plan on staying here again on one of my future visits to Porto!

Visited many hostels around Portugal, most of them are really really nice, amongst this one! They organise activities for the guests, have a chill zone, and even cook dinner for a free gift. I even extended my stay twice here. Thumbs up for the staff and volunteers!

One of my favorite experiences of our 10 day trip. This is a social hostel and great for young travelers. The staff is outstanding and treat you like family. It was so clean as well - I regularly saw staff going around to bathrooms multiple times per day to sanitize!

Great location, clean & new rooms, staff are very warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Yes, you do get some noise from kitchen area below but the crew make a point to bring everyone out by 11:30pm so they continue to party outside instead of inside of the hostel. The dinner is a great idea, it's free and contribution is optional. It's a great way to meet new friends and talk about your day, play some games, and then heard out to party if you feel like it. I thoroughly enjoy my stay and I have made a few friends which no doubt I will meet again. Thanks Hostel One Ribeira.

Great hostel in general! Clean and new, not a lot of space to hang your belongings or wet towel etc, no fan in the bathroom. The staff were pretty good and made their best efforts to ensure everyone had a good time at the family dinner, if you've stayed at hostel one before, you know what the vibe is and you won't be alone, you will definitely make friends. Fran the manager made snacks and offered them to us throughout our stay, which was a lovely gesture, she really wanted everyone to have a good time and her kindness and fun personality really made that happen. She even gave us a wine tasting voucher which was really sweet. Unlike other hostel ones they have the same activities everyday, but if you ask them they might be able to give you some other suggestions on what to do. How ever, something to really keep in mind is that this is not a safe area to walk around after dark. They take you out on a "pub crawl" which is great, but if you are a solo traveller of any kind I recommend that you do not walk home alone, minium 5 people. while I was there, 2 people had a knife pulled on them after the pubcrawl and one of Them was robbed and beaten up. They were not alone they were in twos two separate times. The staff didn't handle this situation well, as they took no responsibility in making sure everyone was in an ok state to get home, after having told them that one of the girls is in a bad state and guys keep trying to go up to her in a very strange planned way. One of my friends had to end a night early to walk this drunk girl back to the hostel, that's when my friend was Mugged and beaten, I returned 1 hour later luckily in an uber with another friends and nothing was being handled, no ice, no water, no calling the police as they didn't even know the emergency number, the manager was not called and that's due to a lack of education in what to happen in these types of emergencies. The company or manager needs to train and educate everyone so that when these types of emergencies occur, their staff are able to assist to their best ability. The volunteers are doing as they are taught, and if guidelines are not given then they cannot be followed. I would be very wary of walking around that city when the sun goes down. As much as people may say it is a safe city, clearly it is not, one of the club's we were taken to were disgusting and the men were looking as though they were working together to try spike drinks and take girls and Rob them. Again this isn't the hostels fault but if this happened at a specific club I wouldn't take guests there again. I was at the club for enough time to see what was going on and the staff left without even saying that they were leaving.. which was the start of a difficult situation and ruined my friends trip and gave me PTSD. You can say, oh but that's just a wrong place wrong time, but it wouldn't have happened if the staff were told to warn all guests of what happened 5 days before. My friend would more likely not have been attacked, and they should have taken the girl home them selves not have left it to care for this girl. We had to do something as we thought if this girl ended up in a bad way or being killed for that matter we would feel awful, which is why even though the staff knew what happened the few days before and that she was clearly not well, we had to take the care into our own hands. It's a difficult situation, but the hostel company needs to train their management and staff to handle pub crawls better, especially when taking out solo travellers.

Our friend was mugged at knife point and beaten after a night out on one of the hostel’s “pub crawls”. Our friend was walking a very drunk guest back to the hostel as the hostel staff had completely deserted us and we had to look after her. This drunk girl was travelling alone and the staff should have cared for her as their “inclusive and sociable atmosphere great for solo travellers” suggests. The staff were far more concerned about hooking up with other guests than showing any care for the people they brought out to this extremely seedy club. After our friend was attacked the hostel staff did very little to report the crime or offer any sort of care to our friend. They didn’t even get him an ice pack or a glass of water as he came in bruised and battered by a bunch of thugs. Our friend sat in shock after the attack in the lobby and the staff told him to call the police himself. It wasn’t their problem. Not to mention the manager was nowhere to be seen after this happened, she was fast asleep. No care at all. To make things worse- a couple of days before this some other guests were held at knife point just outside the hostel. The staff refuse to admit there is a problem with thieves specifically targeting this hostel. It’s not safe here. The staff were extremely selfish and did not exercise their proper duty of care.

I've stayed at 4 different hostelOnes and the one in Porto was definitely my favorite although they never disappoint!

One of the most amazing hostels I have ever been to ! Francesca and Lorenzo both were amazing from start to finish ! They do a free dinner every night and also do drinking games and a club after too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice social atmosphere.

Hostel One Ribeira was hands down AMAZING! The staff were so welcoming and work hard to get to know each and every person staying there. With tons of ways to get to know each other, this hostel was, by far, my favorite in terms of getting to know fellow travelers. Sunsets, family dinners, and drinking games are some of the ways this place truly feels like family. It’d be hard NOT to have a good time here! The location is outstanding and everything was always fresh and clean of course. But I always say it’s the people that make a hostel experience great and this place was second to none

Another amazing hostel one, great people and great atmosphere, I had a room facing the road and it was super noisy but there are room the other way which are much better.

Amazing experience! The hostel is in a great location with all the must see things a max of 15min walk. Everything is spotless and brand new because the staff actually care. They care about all the guests staying there and will sit with you and show you what to do when you're there because they want to. Family dinner every night is a must and then it's a trip out on the town. Do not hesitate book a bed and get ready for your best stay in all of Porto.

Perfect hostel - built in the side of a hills so has a quirky design. Location is next to Sao Bento and perfect for exploring. Rooms are clean and even though it has a great social scene, it's still a relatively quiet hostel if you need a decent nights kip. They organise group drinks to watch the sunset, family dinner and bar trips which are great to meet people if you are travelling solo. Loved it so much I stayed twice, once in a private room and then in a 4 bed deluxe dorm. Both had gorgeous views. Met tonnes of lovely people - thank you!

This amazingly clean, low-cost and brand new hostel comes with more than I could have dreamed for. Kind staff, fun activities and an amazing location made this definitely worth the while!

Lovely place :) It have just opened recently, so they try to win your heart carry much. I'd say they do it successfully. This hostel is especially good for lone travelers or groups who look for company to spend time with ^_^

it was my second stay in a hostel one. I really love these hostels! hostel one ribeira looks like a castle and it‘s very clean. the free dinner was always very good! and I loved the drinking games! the room was a bit small but the beds are very comfortable! you cannot buy drinks so far but there is a shop right next to the hostel which has open until midnight (: what this stay made really awesome was the staff! they‘re all aaamazing!! everybody is very helpful and very friendly! especially greatings to aaron and francesca- you guys are awesome!! I‘ll miss you and I hope to see you again! LOOOOOVE!!!

Awesome new hostel! Great common areas and kitchen. And amazing staff. Only constructive criticism would be re-arranging certain dorms so it’s easier to open the window, currently requires clamoring over a bunk bed to get ‘em open

Hostel One Ribeira was absolutely amazing!! I have stayed at many hostels throughout the world and I can confidently say this was one of the BEST ones I’ve ever stayed at. They’ve just opened and they are so keen on really making it feel like home, plus everything is new and clean! The staff were INCREDIBLE - every single one made personal connections with the guests and made sure that we were having a good time. The free family dinners are so wonderful and really make you feel the love (and they were all delicious)!! This was especially nice because I’m traveling alone - I met so many cool people at Hostel One. The location is also amazing and the building of the hostel itself is really cool. They organized group activities like going to watch the sunset together which was so nice! I seriously loved every staff member but I need to give a special shout out to Fran - she is such a warm & welcoming person and really puts her heart & soul into making Hostel One a fantastic place to stay!! In sum: stay at this hostel!! It is all around fantastic!!!

Definitely one of the best places I've stayed at! The guys will make you feel at home since the first moment you walk in, and that made all the difference after being traveling solo for a long time. The hostel is located in the heart of the historical center, so you'll be right in the middle of the main places to visit in Porto. The facilities are great, there's even an elevator inside! Can't recommend this place enough!!

As soon as you step in, you know you are part of the family.The staff is amazing, so friendly and fun.Ahtmosphere is just the best. The building itself, mix modern furniture with rustic walls. Very charming. Location less than 2 minutes from São Bento station. Very easy to reach from the airport and walking distance from resturants/cafè/bars. Perfect for backpackers/solo travellers, you will make so many friends. It's just magical. Do not believe Me? Go, check yourself and thank me later :)

Newest Hostel One, which is more than a place to crash a couple of nights. It’s ideal to meet people. Great little gem in the heart of the old town. Perfect for solo backpackers!!
