It was an amazing place with friendly staff and owner. The meals were delicious and the rooms were luxurious and comfortable. It was a gem to be discovered!

It’s a beautiful place but it is more like a prison then a hotel!! You are not allowed to drink wine, coffee, tea or any other beverage on the patio, in your room or anywhere else on the property except at the dining table. They turn off the heat it was wet and freezing and don’t help you to start a fire in any of their fire places. They are not at all helpful or friendly

Very friendly staff and an excellent place to stay, very comfortable and nicely decorated. Cinema room, pool table, table football, chess, swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna all for free at no cost. Relaxing gardens and outside terrace to enjoy the sun.

Local muito verde e aprazível , com aspeto de casa senhorial e bem cuidada. Staff muito acolhedor e simpático. Espaço muito bem cuidado e limpo. Só tenho a apontar o ruído que provinha do piso de cima, devido à ausência de placa de cimento (mas compreende-se por quererem preservar o formato original da casa). Recomendo!

Gostamos bastante deste espaço. Tem ótimas condições para passar uns dias a relaxar com a família. Tem uma piscina boa, com uma área envolvente tranquila. Tem uma zona com cesto de basquete, umas pequenas balizas para futebol e mesa de ping pong. Um salão de jogos com matrecos e bilhar. Uma envolvente muito bem arranjada e cheia de árvores de fruto que podemos tirar. Gostamos especialmente dos figos e das maçãs. O espaço exterior do pequeno almoço é também muito agradável para comecar o dia. Os quartos são bons, talvez um pouco pequenos. Fomos muito bem recebidos pelos filhos do proprietário que asseguraram que tínhamos tudo que precisávamos. As crianças gostaram muito.

Incredibly nice owners. There is a discount for pilgrims. The complex is spacious and perfectly maintained. There is a pool and a whirlpool. Breakfast is amazing. Beside fruits from own cultivation there are many sausage and cheese varieties. Homemade pastries and omlettes are also available. And at a very small price. The rooms are also very nice and clean.

Casas do Rio ist eine ist eine wunderschöne Unterkunft die besser nicht sein könnte. Das Familien betriebene Hotel hat alles was man sich wünscht. (Perfekte Erholungsstätte) Wir sind auf dem Camino hier untergekommen und mussten zwangsweise eine Nacht länger hier bleiben aufgrund von Fuß schmerzen. Das Frühstück für 4 Euro war top , der Pool und der jacuzzi ist schön und die riesige Gartenanlage, mit selbst angeboten Obst, übertrifft alles. Der Besitzer und das Personal ist überfreundlich . Wir würden immer wieder gerne hier hin kommen.

Fijne rustige locatie met lieve vriendelijke gastvrouw. Lekker ontbijt met veel zelfgemaakte lekkernijen. We kregen veel tips voor leuke uitstapjes en uitstekende restaurantjes.

What a great B & B !!! Beautiful historic story about this location, you should ask about it, when you're there. We had a specious room with a comfy bed and it felt like we slept in a castle. And every morning we had a very expanded/full breakfast with home made cakes, fruit, fresh bread, meat and cheese. The table was full of delicious things. The daughter of the owner (Filippa - she speaks English), was so nice to us and did everything in her power, to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The garden around the building is big and well maintained with all kinds of fruit trees. And there's a lovely pool, to cool of, when it's hot outside. A great peaceful location to be, in the centre of the north of Portugal, to visit Porto, Braga and Viana de Castello. I would highly recommend this to my friends and family.

My husband and I stayed here for one night while we were walking the Camino. We booked ahead of time via email. The staff were friendly and helpful with someone at the crossroads to direct us. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold orange juice and cake - very nice after a day walking. The staff spoke excellent English which was appreciated because sadly my Portuguese is not very good. The check-in process was quick and easy. The have a laundry service for 5 euros where they wash and dry and return your clothes the next morning which was handy. Our room was amazing!! It was a large, cozy room with a large bathroom with tub and shower. The grounds of the manor are immaculate and there is a pool and jacuzzi as well. There were many nice places to sit and enjoy the grounds. One draw back is that there isn't really anywhere nearby to eat so you kind of have to eat at the manor. They provide a menu that you can choose your meal from and they have quite a few options. The dinner was OK but I felt it was overpriced for what was served. It was about 13 euros per main dish, 9 euros per appetizer and drinks were additional. Despite the high price we had a very nice dinner with some fellow Camino goers which was a lot of fun. Breakfast the following day was exceptional and was included in the price of our stay. We were encouraged to make sandwiches to take along for the day's walk which was very nice! Overall I would stay here again. It was a very relaxing, refreshing stay.

Situé dans le nord du Portugal, il s'agit d'un domaine qui met 8 chambres à la disposition des touristes et également des marcheurs sur le Chemin de Compostelle. Vraiment à recommander pour la propreté, l'espace et la gentillesse de tous.. Vaut le détour

Exelente lugar para pasar unos días de relax. Casa rural muy bonita, con 16000 metros de finca para pasear entre frutales. Habitación con una decoración muy cuidada, desayuno exelente con tartas caseras, fruta fresca, omelette recién hecho....... Además hay una sala de juegos con una mesa de pool, ajedrez, dardos y un futbolin, y algo que no había visto antes,,, un sala de cine.montada en una cabaña de madera. Sin duda un lugar recomendable. Volveremos seguro. Solomcomenta dos cosas ( que no hacen que le.quite las 5 estrellas) 1. Se agradecería un hervidor para infusiones o café en las habitaciones. 2. No se puede cenar en la casa, hay que ir fuera, pero te recomiendan muy bien.

Atendimento 5*, amabilidade tanto dos proprietários como de toda a equipa de staff, pequeno almoço fabuloso com produtos feitos pelo staff (bolos caseiros, compotas caseiras, sumos naturais feitos com fruta da quinta, iogurtes caseiros, entre outros ), ambiente calmo e fantástico, piscina e jacuzzi do melhor - tudo fantástico e do melhor, nada a apontar contra. Estadia a repetir e por período maior para usufruir o máximo do local e das instalações

Ambiente bucólico, temperado com inesperadas ofertas de lazer: sala de jogos (bilhar, matraquilhos, dardos, xadrez), sala de cinema (!), piscina exterior, jacuzzi e sauna exterior e campo de jogos (basquetebol, futebol, ténis de mesa e badminton). Decoração rústica e pequeno-almoço soberbo!

What a lovely surprise. We were there on the Camino but planned to stay also in hotels and casa rurals. Thus was lovely. Great setting, great welcome plus they have swimming pool and jacuzzi. And they do your laundry for free. Breakfast is very rich and they invite you to take some food with you for the way. They serve food in the evening which they make themselves. The selection is limited but everything was very tasty. I only suggest they should have stamps for the credentials. Otherwise it made a super start for us.

This is a gem of a place, one that we could not afford to stay in back home in the US, but here our bill was very modest for magnificent surroundings. Phillipa checked us in and told us that her father had spent nine years restoring this old estate, planting fruit trees in the large grounds, adding a swimming pool and hot tub, installing a movie theater with a supply of movies and elegant and comfortable chairs waiting under the veranda. We ate dinner blissfully early, 6.30 not 8.30, outside and breakfast was a selection of cakes, fruit and hot hard-boiled eggs. Most of the guests were walking the Camino like ourselves and Phillipa helped us all with our onward plans, her sister Sofia driving our bags on. Highest recommendation.

Excelente comida y buen servicio... Fuimos por recomendación a este hotel restaurante, nos habian hablado muy bien de el y las expectativas eran altas y las cumplieron de sobra. Camareros atentos, amables y simpaticas ( Alicia y Nuria )La comida muy rica toda, sin duda de los mejores sitios de Pontecesures para comer. Ir aqui es acertar seguro.

Altamente recomendável, espaço tranquilo e muito bonito, fomos muitíssimo bem acolhidos por todos, pessoas de enorme simpatia e sempre com um sorriso amigo. Nunca vamos esquecer o que fizeram por nós a caminho de Santiago.

Lugar con mucho encanto, acogedor y con una refinada decoración, todo son detalles. Zona de juegos amplia y separada de la zona de habitaciones para no molestar. Desayuno variado y abundante. Lo mejor de todo, la familia que lo regenta y los consejos que dan para visitar y disfrutar de la gastronomía de la zona (me faltaron días para ir a todos los sitios recomendados), son encantadores. Volvería sin dudarlo.

Tem uma excelente suites! Aconselho a quem queira um local sossegado para ir com a família descansar ou ter uma experiência super agradável de turismo rural. Fica perto do caminho dos peregrinos para Santiago da Compostela e do Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Aparecida onde se deu a primeira aparição Mariana em Portugal em 1702, a um pequeno pastor, no monte de Castro de Balugães... Além disso o atendimento é super agradável.
