We had to cancel our reservation due to the recent strike and ensuing fuel shortage in Portugal. As were traveling w a young baby, we didn’t have the flexibility to wing it. though we canceled after the deadline had expired, the staff at Casa das Pipas was extraordinarily understanding and refunded us given the strange circumstances. We will absolutely be staying here during our next visit the Douro and are grateful for the staff’s consideration.

Turismo rural familiar sossegado muito simpático de qualidade. Pequeno almoço excelente com produtos da região e da própria quinta do portal. Paisagem e por do sol fantástico. Tem uma piscina espaçosa. O jardim tem algumas mesas para que possa degustar vinhos e outros produtos. Staff muito simpático e disponível. Tem visita às caves com prova de vinhos. Adorei o menu degustação ao jantar com os maravilhosos vinhos da casa no restaurante da quinta do portal. O restaurante fica numa parte superior das vinhas por isso sugiro iniciar o jantar antes do fim do dia para que possa apreciar uma excelente paisagem do por do sol.

Excelente estadia, atendimento e todo o staff, desde o Dr. André , Chef Milton, Pedro e D. Fernanda. Excelente jantar, Adega impressionante e os famosos vinhos na prova que realizei na mesma. Aconselho vivamente e tenho a certeza que vou voltar a repetir. Cumprimentos e parabéns a todos

Lugar sossegado, bons anfitriões, excelente restaurante... onde a paz e a beleza do Douro se encontram na perfeição. Visita guiada incluída às caves e prova de vinhos.

Das sehr freundliches Personal hat uns bei der Führung alles erklärt und bei der Degustation beraten. Man ist zu recht stolz auf die Produkte (im Shop hätten sie sogar eigenes Bier). Wir wurden nach dem Restaurant-Besuch gebeten, doch auch noch den Keller besichtigen zu gehen (Ist gratis zusammen mit dem Restaurant-Besuch). Ja, liebes Portal-Team: Restaurant ist top und die Besichtigung mit Degu lohnt sich und macht den Tag perfekt. Tipp: Nehmen Sie sich Zeit. Eigenes Olivenöl hätten sie auch noch.

What an experience! True highlight! Chef Milton and their head winemaker, Paulo are among the best people we had the pleasure to meet while in Douro. First, the restaurant, led by Chef Milton: We met chef Milton by chance at Quinta de la Rosa, where he was a guest chef and made one of the most incredible vegan meals my wife has ever made. We also had lunch at Quinta de la Portal twice based on how amazing the lunch and wine pairing was. He accommodated my wife's vegan diet with incredible meals. We went to lunch on two occasions and on both occasions the meals were different and very fresh and extremely well thought out. We were beyond impressed with the class and the attitude of Chef Milton. Quinta do Portal is lucky to have him there and he is an amazing chef. We will be back! Their head winemaker, Paulo: To say that Paulo is an incredible person would be an understatement. We have traveled to a lot of wineries and this experience was by far and above the best experience we have ever had. Paulo in every aspect is a world class leader in everything he does. We met at Quinta de la Rosa where he paired some of his wines with the meal and we had an opportunity to talk to him, which was where we met. He offered to give us a tour of the winer after lunch the next day and he ended up spending half of his day with us showing us the winery, tasting some of the wines, learning the process he uses to make the wine and, one of our favorite parts, visiting the "library." We learned more from this visit than we have in years of tasting wine and doing different tours at wineries. Our hope is that someday we can meet again and see how the winery has evolved under his leadership and skill. I would expect to see a lot of great things to come from him. Not to mention, this was some of the best wine in all of Portugal! Get as much as you can because you won't find it in many places! After this visit make sure to head over to Quinta do Beijo. Something about this area is truly special and has the best wineries in all of Portugal!

Our favorite place in the Douro Valley! We discovered Casa das Pipas in 2017 and we loved it so much that we were back the next year with 30 of our friends to celebrate an anniversary! Everything about this charming hotel is enchanting: the property in the middle of Quinta do Portal's vineyard, the attentive staff, the beautiful swimming pool, the detailed decor, the property's cute dogs, as well as the fresh breakfast. And of course, their wine sold at the same price as at the Quinta! Plus, Milton Ferreira, their chef, prepares incredibly delicious menus to taste food and wine. An absolute must in the Douro Valley!

Almoçamos num alpendre com vista para uma vinha. O dia estava perfeito. Calor e uma leve aragem para acalmar a temperatura. As criancas tinham espaco para bricar. Ou no salao adjacente ou na relva que crescia entre o alpendre e a vinha. A mesa estava muito bem apresentada. Fomos muito bem recebidos, com calma e simpatia. Comemos também muito bem sempre acompanhados de bom vinho. Desde o vinho do Porto branco de entrada até ao moscatel do final. De destacar o bolo que foi servido no fim. Estava excelente.

Such amazing / cozy place, full of hospitality. Unfortunately I stayed just 1 night, just planning another visit for not less than 2 night's down there. Specially thanks to Andre to make this an unforgettable wine experience.

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Abend im.Restaurant der quinta Portal. Uns wurde ein tolles 4 - Gänge - Menü mit begleitenden Weinen , Wasser und Kaffee für 40 € offeriert - welches von einem sehr netten Service abgerundet wurde. Vielen Dank für den netten Abend mit leckerem Essen und wunderbaren Weinen!

EN LA CARRETERA DE PINHAO A SABROSA, UNO DE LOS PAISAJES MÁS ESPECTACULARES DE LA REGIÓN VITÍCOLA DEL DUERO, PATRIMONIO DE LA HUMANIDAD Esta quinta tiene dos características especiales: Por una parte el edificio principal, que es obra del arquitecto portugués Alvaro Siza (uno de los más importantes del mundo), una construcción muy moderna, de formas lineales, distinta a todas las demás quintas que tienen un estilo de casa de campo o rural, con una pared exterior hecha totalmente de corcho, y que a pesar de su modernidad se integra perfectamente en el paisaje de viñedos, también espectacular. Por otra, que es la única en la que se realiza todo el proceso de elaboración del vino de oporto, desde el cultivo de la vid hasta el envejecimiento y embotellado, última fase que, como se sabe, en las demás marcas se efectúa en Oporto. Por lo tanto aquí se visita no solo la quinta si no también la bodega subterránea (muy subterránea) donde el vino envejece lentamente, y así lo hacen porque el clima y la humedad del sitio lo permite, a diferencia, dicen, de lo que ocurre en las otras quintas; y todo ello nos lo explican en una documentada visita. Hacemos también una cata de excelentes vinos. La Quinta cuenta también con un hotel rural, la Casa das Pipas (barricas), en un paisaje lleno de posibilidades de senderismo. Se encuentra en la carretera N-323, entre Pinhao y Sabrosa (pertenece a éste municipio), zona y paisaje que ha sido declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco de una belleza impresionante. El paisaje de la carretera de Pinhao a Sabrosa, en la que se encuentra esta quinta, es uno de los más espectaculares de la región vitícola del Duero portugués, declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco

A very good visit is offered there for about 5€, including a taste test afterwards. The staff is super knowledgeable and multilingual.

Excelente visita proporcionada pela guia Catarina. Muito amável e conhecedora, sempre disponível para esclarecer todas as questões colocadas. Uma nota final para o atendimento da colaboradora de caixa aquando da aquisição do vinho no fim da prova, que se tornou constrangedor e desagradável.

Casa onde se faz Vinho e onde se pode pernoitar com muita qualidade. Adega com a assinatura de Siza Vieira. Restaurante de bom nível.

Un lugar maravilloso en medio de viñedos del Douro. Las bodegas de Quinta do Portal son obra del arquitecto Álvaro Siza. Hay visitas guiadas para los huéspedes de Casa das Pipas. El hotel es una casona rural decorada con buen gusto y muy acogedora. El personal es muy amable y atento. Se puede cenar en la otra casona de la viña, cocina excelente, interpretación moderna de la cocina portuguesa, con acompañamiento de vinos y oporto de la producción propia.

Ótimos vinhos, Quinta muito linda!!
