I've been to this restaurant in late August with my wife. It was one of the worst restaurants we have been in our 15-day visit to Portugal. Food was tasteless and not well cooked. The waiter asked me if I liked, I told him there was no salt and no spices in the grilled fish. He told me that in Portugal some people were allergic(?) to salt and that's why they don't use salt in the grilled fish (I'm a native portuguese speaker btw, no language issues here...). Then, the cook came and tried to convince me that in fact they are not allowed to use salt because in Portugal they used too much salt. Well... My wife ordered cataplana and the seafood was not cooked correctly. Not to mention the awful starter.... To be frank, this was one of the few times in my life I complained about the food to the waiter/cook... I definitely don't recommend this place...

Good restaurant. Great staff and good food. Service first class. Very friendly and a must to visit if you are in the area.

The owner is not too polite, but the staff was friendly. Experience was okay. We ordered the monkfish cataplana which was good, but lacked some of the flavor that was already in it. Sangria was ok.

Tolles Ambiente. Freundliche, zuvor kommende, mehrsprachige Kellner. Sehr gutes Essen. Leckere Desserts. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Food is absolutely wonderful. I had the octupus cataplana which was exquisite. Octupus was cooked beautifully, along with the other seafood included; shrimp, muscles, razor clams. The shrimp was with shell but came out of the shell with ease. The flavours were amazing, although might've had too much red pepper. My dad had the black pork, that had a beautiful flavour from the charcoal. The peri peri chicken was cooked beautifully and the sauce had such a nice spicy kick to it. The Portuguese steak that my sister ordered was cooked beautifully. Medium rare and perfect. The sauce had a wine that gave it such a exquisite flavour. The sangria was fresh and refreshing. Deserts were scrumptious. They gave us port for free with the bill. Amazing port, had a nice sweet flavour to it. Prices are high but it is value for money. The prices are perfect for the quality of the food. The service was excellent, quick and the waiter was very kind and friendly. Starters were really good too. Clams were cooked perfectly with a nice butter sauce and the king shrimps were cooked perfectly. Would definitely reccomend on your visit. It is a must.

Reasonable quality food and a decent price. I had chicken wings and then steak and chips. Both were ok but I’ve definitely had better.

Food is actually prettygood but owner, Paulo clearly has had enough of running a restaurant, maybe should get a job he likes... miserable and so too is another member of his staff. Smiles dont cost, surley attitude, everything is too much trouble. Got told off by young waiter. When I’m spending £300 in a week there, that’s not what. expect.

Important to book ahead if you want an outside table. Weekly specials menu worth a look. Tasty monkfish cataplana! Friendly service, good value for money so compares favourably with other local restaurants.

Zuvorkommende Kellner, gutes Essen von Fisch und Fleisch, aber es gibt auch was für Vegetarier. Kurzum, es ist für jeden Geschmack was dabei, und an Geld muss man nicht ganz so viel mitnehmen, wie vielleicht woanders. Wir waren zwar ohne Reservierung da, und haben glücklicherweise noch einen Platz bekommen, aber wer auf Nummer sicher gehen möchte, sollte unbedingt vorbestellen. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, daß dieses Restaurant nicht mehr lange ein Geheimtipp bleiben wird...

Eaten here numerous times over the last couple of years. Its an excellent restaurant with good quality food, reasonably priced and fast, friendly, attentive staff. Very good for family's with young children. Highly recommended.

Ambiente super, Service top, sprechen u.a. deutsch. Essen phantastisch besonders der Fisch. Toller Weißwein. Rund um wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und empfehlen das Restaurant sehr gern weiter.

What a fantastic place. Authentic Portuguese food from a friendly family run restaurant. The Cataplana was huge and delicious. I'm so glad we found Paulo's as we come to Luz a couple of times a year to visit family and had been looking for a place that does good Portuguese food. There are several good places to eat in Luz, but so far this place tops the list of "local" cuisine eateries for us.

Cozy nice place in a wind-protected side-road. Delicious grilled fish-variants. The side dish could be a bit more prominent but you still get very good value for money. The waiters are very polite, speak lots of languages and care for your wellbeing.
Simply the white house-wine is not to recommend, if you're looking for fruity wine.

Restaurant Portugais ????.Non restaurant exclusif anglais.
Nous n étions pas à notre place.cela dit le patron nous a parler en français.
La cataplane polvo relevée et cher.
40e pour 1 cataplane polvo et une assiette de palourdes tres light une carafe de sangria.
Nous avons mieux mangé dans les terres.
Si vous parler anglais ce resto est pour vous.

Excellent resto, personnel très aimable et prix raisonnable.
Mon épouse a prit deux entrées et moi le spécial du jour (filet de porc avec sauce aux champignons) plus un verre de vin. Total 27€.

Excellent, fresh food served in a wonderful, friendly and professional atmosphere by the owner (Paulo) and his son (Daniel). The food is so good that we keep returning to try their dishes. We want to eat here every night!

The staff were very friendly at Paulo’s. We had an amazing meal there last evening - best meal in Portugal so far (after 6 days). The sea bass was delicious!!! My husband had the chicken/shrimp/chorizo skewer. He loved it. We had a wonderful cheese cake for dessert. We would highly recommend this restaurant!!

Cibo molto buono, ma prezzi che per il Portogallo sono eccessivi. Una bottiglia di vino che in negozio paghi 3 euro, qui costa 13. In nessun altro ottimo ristorante dell'Algarve l'ho pagato così tanto.

Super Restaurant. Wir waren drei Abende hintereinander dort und wurden echt super bedient. Das Essen war genial. Das Personal echt sehr Freundlich und der Chef kam auch persönlich mal vorbei. Beim nächsten Mal gehen wir da mit Sicherheit wieder hin. Das Ambiente war spitze.

wir waren in 7 Tagen 3 mal dort Essen und waren von der Qualität des Essens jedesmal begeistert unbedinkt einen Nachtisch nehmen, der Service ist erste Klasse auch weil man sich bestens in deutsch mit der Bedienung unterhalten konnte , wenn wir wieder in Portugal sind gehen wir wieder hin. Besser man reserviert ist meist sehr voll besonders wenn man draußen essen möchte.

Tja Leute, was soll ich dazu sagen mega lecker, toller Service (mehrsprachig), passt alles. Besuch lohnt sich auf jeden Fall und unbedingt die cataplana (hatte Hähnchen) versuchen, ist Weltklasse. Kanns nur weiter empfehlen.

Recommended by family to visit while we were here, great service, waiters always on the go. Food is really good and varied menu. If you're looking for an Italian tilt to a Portuguese restaurant then definitely the one. I has clams to start with a carbonara main, very nice.

Went last night on our last night in Luz. Lovely family run restaurant who take pride in their food. My husband had the seabream from the special board and I had the spicy chicken. Wish we found this restaurant earlier as would definitely keep going back.

Very nice place with a wonderful atmosphere. We went a little bit early for dinner so we were able to grab a table but just to be safe you should make a reservation since it got quite busy during the evening. The food was to put it simply, fantastic. Go for the grilled fish and the house wine for a guaranteed good time. The staff were very attentive and accommodating to all of our needs. Not only will we be going back, but we recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.

I go to luz twice per year and have this time been in Paulos 3 times. The food is really good and staff and so friendly and helpful it makes for a very pleasant evening. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I am very hard to please!. Look forward to coming back next may and a lovely meal at Paulos. George kirk.
