Always a favourite when we.come. excellent chicken ribs and all manner of Portuguese food used by the locals. We have been coming here for over 20 years and it never disappoints

A little hidden gem as it's just off the main strip with views of the beach. I'd have to agree with other reviewers.. all dishes are great (we've had the cod, pork ribs, carbonara) but the peri peri chicken was excellent. Perfectly grilled with the right level of char and just the right portion size.
Highly recommend this place.. we heading back tonight for the Cataplana (fingers crossed) with maybe a side of peri peri chicken. :)

Les sardines étaient grosses et très bonnes mais les crevettes au piri piri baignaient dans l'huile, certainement réchauffées au micro-ondes et sans saveur. Le pâté de sardines servi en barquettes sans aucun intérêt. Donc choisir ce qui est sur l'ardoise et pas à la carte.

Une adresse fréquentée par les locaux, rare dans cette petite ville très touristique.
Rapport qualité-prix imbattable pour le "menu touristique" (terme pas du tout péjoratif au Portugal), 11,5€ pour un menu complet : apéritif, plat (viande ou poisson), dessert, boisson, café.
Attention uniquement le midi.
Beaux poissons frais prêt à griller visibles au comptoir (15-20€ en fonction des espèces).
Service très sympathique.

Found this great resteraunt after four visits to the resort and was so impressed with the food that we returned the following night and recommended it to everyone we met.
The quality and price was amazing, lamb chops were wonderful, and the nicest piri piri chicken I've ever had, I'll be back several times next time I visit the Algarve, even if I'm in a different resort

Typisch portugiesische Küche und Lokal. Sehr freundlich. Günstige Preise. Auch der Fisch. Alles sehr lecker. Eingang neben der Apotheke. Hätten wir von einer Einheimischen den Tip nicht bekommen, hätten wir von alleine nicht rein gefunden. Wir wären wahrscheinlich von der äusseren Optik in ein anderes Lokal, drinnen aber sehr landestypisch eingerichtet. Gute Wahl!

Etwas mehr Mut zur Schärfe und es wäre das beste Frango Piri-Piri in der Umgebung gewesen :-)

Simple, menu a 11/12 euros , comprenant , entree, plat du jour, poisson ou viande , cafe et la boisson, eau , vin, soda, ou biere ....bonne adresse, c est bon , pas cher pour cette petite ville Les pieds dans l eau , et vu le grand nombre de restaurant , difficile de choisir, celui ci , est honnete .

Voor de grote sjiek moet je hier niet zijn, maar het eten is overheerlijk (doe eens de moeite en ga eens in de keuken kijken wie hier kookt!), eerlijk eten voor een eerlijke prijs!

Pratos a cima de 15€ só um ou dois a volta de 10 € juntando o vinho da casa mais barato a 12 € fomos 4 pessoas só o prato, vinho, café, sem, sobremesas nem pão e azeitonas, paguei 85 euros, por isso por mim podem fechar a porta, ou continuar aproveitar de quem não olha ao dinheiro, pois há sempre pessoas que não sabem o que é esforçar-se para o ganhar.

This place is a must. If you're expecting fancy dining, look elsewhere. If you want excellent, local cuisine, you have to go here. To top it off, it is fantastic value. As a group, we paid around 60 Euros less here on the overall bill than other places, ordering a similar meal. I can sort of see what others are saying about the waiting staff - they're not the cheeriest bunch - and for that I take one star off my review. I wouldn't describe them as rude but I suppose that is a matter of opinion. This place could never be described as fancy but it certainly is authentic and very reasonably priced.

Casual dining in a family restaurant. Despite being located in a tourist resort it feels remarkably authentic, probably also because it is a bit hidden, up the stairs from the beach above an Indian restaurant.

Small little place, very casual. Ordered both the piri-piri chicken and the Portuguese steak. The chicken was OK, but the steak dish was much better. The sauce served with the dish was delicious - we used all our bread to sop it up. Great potatoes with the steak as well! We shared 2 dishes amongst 3 adults and the portions were just right.

Leider bei unserem Aufenthalt nicht so super, wie die anderen Rezensionen es vermuten lassen.
Wir hatten vorweg Oliven, die leider furchtbar hart und viel zu versalzen waren.
Die Fisch-Cataplana war leider auch nicht der Renner. Es waren viel zu viele Gräten in dem Essen vorhanden und die Gräten haben sich leider auch nicht so schön lösen lassen, wie es bei anderen Cataplanas der Fall war. Das Essen war also ein reines Suchen und Finden der Gräten und ausspucken dieser.

It's a little gem that I would recommend to anyone looking for high quality dishes. I would recommend meat dishes since the quantity is really sweet, and it's really affordable. I loved my stay there.
I went there multiple tiles and was never disappointed by the service or the dishes.

Fantástica comida local y casera. Bacalao y lubina a la brasa delicioso. Tienen platos para niños. No excesivamente caro. Lo recomiendo para salir de todo lo turístico.

Muy recomendable. Pescado a la plancha muy ricos y espetada de frango (brocheta de pollo).
Lo peor es que la ventilación es escasa y sales oliendo a fritanga pero aún así, muy recomendable

Having stayed in the Algarve for a full week I've tried a couple of the highest rated restaurants (according to both trip advisor and google reviews) in the region - both high end and cheaper options.
Honestly this has been the best. Of course some of the restaurants I've been to you're paying for location rather than food (Rei Das Praias for instance) but in terms of authentic Portuguese cuisine, value for money and service - this has been by far the best one.
Possibly the best in the Algarve - certainly the best in Carvoeiro!

I only review the best places!
A lovely family run / owned restaurant where they speak good English and are very friendly.
Day menu for €11.50 which includes bread and olives, a main dish of fish or meat, a pudding a drink, coffee and pudding. Today it was five freshly grilled mackerel with potatoes and salad or pork ribs with chips and salad. Pudding was chocolate mouse or caramel pudding.
An absolute BARGAIN!
