L’hôtel est très bien situé au calme dans la montagne, seul hic un peu loin de l océan. Tout est propre, tout est clean ... le petit déjeuner est copieux viennoiseries, fruits, gâteaux, jus... et crêpes à la demande. Ce qui devrait être un oasis de calme l est moins en pleine saison avec beaucoup de familles et d enfants en bas âge autour de la piscine !

Very comfortable, very private, in a beautiful setting. Breakfast is good, for other meals you need a car or taxi. It would be a good place to bring children.

Location is excellent. Assuming you want a quiet retreat. Naturally this means any amenities (restaurants, etc.) require a car to get to. If you're in this region without a car though, that's going to be a challenge in itself! It is possible to walk to the beach (Praia da Bordeira is stunning) but it will take a good 45 minutes to an hour down the local tracks. If you like running and don't mind hills, there's plenty of possibilities! Carrapateira, a small town with a few restaurants, surf shops, etc. is also nearby (10 mins in car) but the nearest supermarket is about 20-30 mins in the car. Rooms are furnished to a high standard and facilities are generally very good. Breakfast is excellent. The chef (who also seems to be gardener and general handy man) deserves special mention. The pool area is handy and generally quiet. Despite the resort being full during our stay, the area was rarely crowded. Overall Monte Da Vilarinha makes an excellent base for families wanting to explore the national park and the west coast. If you're into surfing, walking, horse riding, or various other outdoor pursuits, there are plenty of opportunities in the area. The only reason for four rather than 5 stars is that I felt the room, an in particular, the kitchen area was slightly small for this price point. We were in one of the smaller apartments which is suitable for couples or families with one child (just). The kitchen area has the key facilities (under counter fridge, electric hob (2 plates), microwave) but is impractical for anything other than basic meals.
