Für 1,62€ bekommt man Zugang zur alten Festungsmauer bzw. einem Turm und außerdem gibt es noch ein kleines Museum mit archäologischen Ausstellungsstücken. Hauptsächlich werden Dinge aus Ton und Metall oder Knochen ausgestellt. Es gibt auch eine Besonderheit: Teile eines Fossils einer Amphibien Art aus der Gegend, welche bisher wohl nur an diesem Ort gefunden wurde.

Cresci perto do castelo tive o privilégio de brincar dentro dele antes de ser restaurado de subir as torres ir as salas andar em partes k hoje estão cobertas onde brinquei as escondidas tenho saudades desse castelo ainda por restaurar nos k aqui crescemos foi com ele mas pra bem maior também teve k ser restaurado pra todos e não só nós poderem usufruir da sua história e beleza, a beleza k os mouros nos deixaram tenho muito orgulho de ter sangue mouro pois minhas pesquisa na minha árvore genealógica vai k desde à mais 300 anos minha familia é daqui tenho orgulho da minha terra como de todo Portugal.

Entree is heel laag, twee prehistorische dieren en een weergave hoe geleefd wordt rond om de keuken. In de buurt veel bijzonderheden en zeker de moeite waard om even paar uurtjes door te brengen. Kregen goede uitleg in het museum

Timeline of Castle of Loulé:
The Romans first occupied the site
Occupied in 715 by the Moors.
Conquered in the 11th century by Ferdinand, King of León.
Occupied in 1249 by D. Paio Peres Correia.
In 1268 Afonso III had the area populated after reconstructing and expanding the walls.
A foral was issued in 1266 from Lisbon by Afonso III of Portugal.
In 1422, Henrique de Meneses, 1st Count of Loulé re-built the towers and walls of the castle.
A new foral was issued by Manuel of Portugal in 1501.
The castle was damaged during an earthquake in 1969.

Loulé is op zaterdag zeker de moeite waard. Dan is er een overdekte versmarkt met aan de buitenkant de boertjes uit de omgeving. Bij mooi weer staan er ook, in de prachtige smalle straatjes, gezellige kraampjes. Ook is er op zaterdag een zigeunermarkt!

Bel castello molto ben tenuto. Molto interessanti i reperti archeologici al piano terra. Al primo piano vi è una libreria e una antica cucina è l'ingresso sul castello da cui si può ammirare Loule. Vale una visita.

Sehr schöner Ort. Die Markthalle war leider schon geschlossen aber die Größe der Halle war schon beeindruckend. Leider hatten wir nicht mehr genug Zeit um den Ort noch näher zu erkunden, es blieb bei der Umgebung um die Markthalle,den Park an der Kirche und die Kunstschule.

Un castello molto ben conservato e appena restaurato. Pochi reperti ma molto interessanti al piano terra, mentre al piano di sopra c'è una ricostruzione di una cucina tipica, e una raccolta di fotografie. Parcheggio vicino, ingresso un po' nascosto. Prezzo più che accessibile!

In der Altstadt von Loule gelegen ist dieses alte Castle. Perfekt restauriert wartet es auf seine Besucher. Der Innenhof ist interessant, aber nicht spektakulaer. Man kann es besuchen, ist aber nicht zwingend notwendig.

O Castelo de Loulé localiza-se na freguesia de São Clemente, povoação e concelho de Loulé, distrito de Faro em Portugal. O que nos resta do Castelo e das suas muralhas atesta a importância que teve no contexto Islâmico, quer pelas dimensões da cerca da muralha, quer pela relevante artística e arqueológica dos materiais identificados. O castelo ergue-se num dos vértices da cerca da Cidade Medieval. Esta cerca definia um perímetro com uma área de aproximadamente de 5 hectares, considerada extensa para a época e que podemos dividir em dois núcleos principais. Os remanescentes deste conjunto consistem em três torres uma das quais Albarrã, definindo um dos troços da muralha a Nordeste que funcionaria como limite de Alcaçova. Em plano inferior a chamada rua da Barbacã sugere que aqui teria sido erigido este tipo de estrutura paralela às Muralhas, talvez desaparecida para abertura de arruamento. Da primitiva Medina restou uma torre de planta quadrangular o minarete da mesquita muçulmana, adaptada após a cristianização, como torre sineira da Igreja de São Clemente.

Com 3 torres e um torreão e parte das muralhas do caminho de ronda definem a estrutura defensiva. No seu interior a alcaidaria, local de residência do alcaide com possível origem no séc XIV sofreu remodelações no séc. XVIII. A alcaidaria recebeu visitas dos reis D. Pedro I em 1359, D. Afonso V em 1458, após conquista da praça africana de Alcácer Ceguer e D. Sebastião, em 1573.

Super für einen kleinen Spaziergang mit einem Eis! Die Altstadt ist auch zuckersüß und das Schloss passt super in das Stadtbild. Hier ist es auch nicht komplett überlaufen, obwohl ich in der Hochsaison mit Massen gerechnet hatte. Wer mal einen halben Tag (nach 1 - 2 Stunden ist man auch schon durch) abseits der Küste verbringen will, ist hier genau richtig!

Wenn Hunde nicht in das Gebäude dürfen, habe ich Verständnis dafür. Wenn sie aber noch nicht mal auf das Außengelände dürfen, fehlt mir jegliches Verständnis. Wir haben in Portugal einige Castelos besucht, nirgendwo waren Hunde ein Problem.

Not just a castle where you can walk on the walls and look down there are other displays and exhibitions. €1.62 each is a bargain.
Go onto the street below and look up, the wall look just as impressive. Check the opening times.

It was really cheap to get in. 1.62 Euros. I didn't expect a great deal for that price, but I was pleasantly surprised at the exhibition's and the inside of the castle. The exhibitions we of archeological items dating back to the Stone Age and Iron Age, up to the 17th and 18th centuries showing some of the history of the Algarve during the different occupations by foreign forces. The castle itself was a mixture of old and newer buildings, but still with a look to see how it has been modified over the years.

The view is nice, but unspectacular. But for 1,60 € entrance fee quite fair. Wired is only that there is access to two completely empty rooms in the towers. No windows, nothing to see. So why?
The exhibition which is included is boring and done not very inspired.
So if you go there, its just for a bit view.

Loule a beautiful old town that hasn't changed much in the last 100 years I imagine. The castle at the top is the highlight ,but a hell of a climb, through winding streets , and just when you think your there there's another bit to go, well worth the climb ware good shoes or boots cobbles are lethal when wet. Some beautiful examples of really old German motor cycles probably 40 years old still in service .

O Castelo de Loulé foi reconquistado aos mouros no século XIII. É um Castelo que só apresenta as suas muralhas, no entanto, bastante bem conservado. O museu arqueológico adjacente às muralhas apresenta um espólio, embora pequeno, bastante rico.

Замок Лоле (Castelo de Loulé) - стариннейший замок на южном побережье Португалии, в Алгарве.
Еще древние римляне основали здесь поселение и превратили его в защищаемое военное укрепление и политико-административный центр.
А собственно замок в Лоле построили мавры в 715 году. Они господствовали здесь на протяжении трех столетий, и только в 1249 году, в день Святого Климента, войска короля Афонсу III завоевали деревню и мавританскую крепость с помощью рыцарей Ордена Сантьяго под командованием Великого магистра и выдающегося воина Дона Пайю Переша Коррейа. Но до XV века местность эта была малонаселенной, и постройки внутри замка превратились в трущобы.
И только в период португальских морских открытий регион Алгарве пережил бурный экономический рост, а городок Лоле даже стал процветать от экспорта вина, оливкового масла, сухофруктов, рыбы и соли. Благодаря этим ресурсам, в начале XV столетия стены замка были перестроены.
Но в дальнейшем развитие артиллерии, как нового и мощного средства ведения войны, свели все эти усилия на нет... Замок потерял свою оборонительную ценность, а рост города Лоле постепенно поглотил старые стены.
Затем последовало разрушительное землетрясение 1755 года, которое разрушило большую часть Лоле. Замковые башни, построенные еще маврами и простоявшие 1000 лет, рухнули, как и большие участки стен.
Восстановить этот древнейший памятник удалось только в XX веке. Его внутреннее пространство используется как археологический музей с прекрасной коллекцией и как муниципальная библиотека. От былого арабского бастиона сохранилось несколько башен, одна из которых, являлась частью т.н. Медины (гражданской части крепости). Эта башня первоначально была минаретом мусульманской мечети, но после христианизации была приспособлена под колокольню церкви Святого Климента.

Loulé Castle is a great little attraction if you're in the area. The castle itself only consists of a courtyard and 3 towers with a wall connecting them, but it is well kept and there are plenty of information boards around detailing the history of the town and the castle from ancient times to more recently.
The views from the top of the tower are not brilliant, though they do let you see more of the town, but it is great to go up and see what it looks like. Inside there are a few artifacts from the excavations done around the area and it is a nice little insight into what was once here.
Overall for €1.62 per person this a great attraction if you are nearby, though I wouldn't detour for it!

There's not much of this delight left, but what remains is replete with an awesome history. This land has changed hands so many times and this old castle has been defended and attacked by Moors and Crusaders alike. The museum part is a little off subject, but still a most interesting visit to a well preserved part of the medieval history of Portugal

Bastante más pequeño de lo que imaginaba. Sólo teníamos 15 minutos para verlo y nos dejaron entrar como un favor. Pues nos dió tiempo a verlo. El horario de visitas es muy reducido, en invierno cierran a las 16:00 h, y las tiendas igual. No merece la pena tantos kilómetros para ir a Loule.

Lovely experience at the castle. Incredibly cheap for the time we spent there, at just over a euro each. Would only advise against going here if you are bad with stairs as there are some really steep parts that could be deemed dangerous.

Perfectly acceptable little museum with enough to take your interest for an hour or so. Worth popping in if you are going past the door but I don't think I would go out of my way to get here.
