As this was first restaurant we came to on our evening stroll into town we walked straight past it and further into "town" on 5 occasions . What a mistake. On our final evening we decided to try it. It was full but they told us to come back in 15 minutes when they'd have a table for us. Probably most enjoyable meal of the holiday, great value and very friendly staff.
We're sure to visit Tavira again one day, we'll know better next time, eat here first *then* wander down to the town centre.

Mal, fui a comer sobre las 14:00 y me dijeron que no me podían atender porque cerraban pronto. Me imagino que sería porque habrían hecho una buena caja ese día.

Ich esse dort gelegentlich ein gutes Steak für 28,50. Allerdings ist man dort als vermeintlicher Touri eher eine cash cow: Gestern war es sehr kalt und windig. Für mich als Einzelperson war angeblich nur draussen Platz. Jacke geholt und bis obenhin zu gemacht, trotzdem gefroren. Sechs andere Gäste, von denen einige nicht reserviert hatten, wurden an mir vorbei ins Innere gelotst. Letztendlich blieb dann doch ein kleiner Tisch frei, was die Bedienungen aber nicht dazu brachte, mich ins innere Restaurant zu bitten, so dass ich mein inzwischen auch kaltes Steak schleunigst herunter schlang, zahlte und ging. Ärgerlich auch: Der "Tomatensalat" (max. 3 Scheiben Tomaten mit Zwiebeln), den ich statt der Pommes bestellte, wurde mit 3,50 extra berechnet. Bin sonst großzügig mit Trinkgeld - an dem Abend gab es allerdings nichts. Werde dort nicht mehr hingehen. Die Freundlichkeit ist nur sehr aufgesetzt. Gibt auch andere gute Steaks in Tavira.

Ich liebe die gute Küche und den sehr aufmerksamen Service. Es wird immer frisch gekocht. Jeder Besuch hat sich gelohnt. Top essen. ! Freundliches und aufmerksames Personal. Faire Preise. 5 von 5 Sternen verdient. !

Visitei ao jantar. A sala de jantar é o largo em calçada em frente ao restaurante. Come-se à luz da iluminação da rua. O que dá um ambiente semelhante à "luz de vela".
A comida é deliciosa e o atendimento simpático, prestável e rápido.

excellent on y mange très bien les assiettes sont bien garnies avec de bon produit frites maison gambas délicieuses et le boeuf fond dans la bouche.un prix plus que correct je le recommande vivement. le personnel polyglotte est tout aussi attentif. il faut absolument y manger si vous passez à Tavira penssez à réserver

Veldig bra og mye kjøtt for pengene. God anbefaling av vin og rett og slett det beste måltidet vi hadde i Tavira. Endelig litt mer tilbehør enn bare pommes frites!

Lovely food with less oil left on your plate than some other Portuguese restaurants.
All 4 of us enjoyed the 4 different meals that were ordered at very reasonable prices. Definitely one of my regular spots from now on.

We are regular visitors to Tavira and had heard good reports about this Restaurant and we weren't disappointed.
Whilst in Portugal we normally opt for fish. But we fancied meat for this meal...
Our sirloin steaks were unbelievable. Best steaks we have had for many a year. Cooked to perfection.
The restaurant is small and the majority of seating is external but cosy enough.
Service excellent and we had a fine bottle of red to accompany it.
Would definitely recommend but be warned you will need to book in advance as its very popular.

Excellent entrecôte steak meal - generous size and so tasty - one of the best! However I’m sure the menu said it was served with salad and chips but we had to order and pay for the salad separately. Service not terribly friendly but ok. We were lucky and there was some lovely accompanying music from a street musician duo. Nice location. Definitely worth booking.

Having read other reviews I think we must have caught them on a bad night! We booked a table and arrived on time. We were given menus as we sat down. We waited, and waited, noticing that another table that arrived after us had drinks. Eventually a waiter came to the table and took our order. We waited again and eventually our drinks and bread and olives came! I’m glad we weren’t dying of thirst! The food came, my wife and I went for the grilled octopus which was like a whole tentacle. There was some white meat but quite a lot of pinkish meat covered in a strange shredded skin like wrap which wasn’t appetising and we were quite put off. As soon as our food arrived the flies descended ( which I fully appreciate is out of the control of the restaurant - however we have dined outside at plenty of other establishments and haven’t had to wrestle my food away from the flying pests!! - could it be the tree canopy above above the restaurant??) No one came to ask if we were enjoying our food. The staff at best remained almost aloof the whole time as if we had complained about something (which we didn’t because we didn’t get the chance!). The only pleasing thing was the price, the bill came at it was €30 cheaper than what we have been spending - and I’d rather be spending our usual €80 and have a better experience!

You.will need to book. But if you get there early enough before 9 they seem to "find" you a seat. Food was OK but had better locally.. good service and atmosphere overall good value for the money!

Came here on Saturday nite.. the best steak I’ve ever had absolutely amazing! Staff were fab.. We hadn’t booked but told us to come back and they squashed us in! Will definitely be back in Oct

Ate there with my partner. We ordered a starter with cheese and ham and a Cataplana. The food was delicious! We had white sangría which was really nice too. There were a good few mosquitoes inside and service was OK (we arrived late so probably tired staff)

Very ordinary steak, there was a dog wandering about the tables as we ate. Much better restaurants available in Tavira with nicer menu. Only go here if you want plain steak and chips, no veg and packet sauce. Desserts were poor as well. Surprised at positive reviews.

Começando pela estrema simpatia de todo o staff, principalmente do chef, ou seja proprietário, que além de explicar o que iria confeccionar veio ele próprio entregar e verificar se teríamos gostado. Por ser final da noite teve também a oportunidade de dialogar um pouco connosco o que tem de ser muito, mas muito valorizado.
A qualidade da comida é excelente, principalmente,os camarões e o tomahawk, que apesar de não estar no menu foi nos recomendado pelo chefe. Estava divinal ! Espero lá voltar em breve.

It is cheap and cheerfull. Dont expect anything else. Great value for the money off peak. Rooms were cold at night and no heaters available. Extra blanket provided and an observation from staff that the room wasnt cold! But then they didnt sleep in it. My sister stayed on a different floor and found the room temperature fine.

Rumsteak was very good. Service was fast. Hamburger and the chicken kebab was so so. French fries was the best so far we had in Tavira :)

I have been to this restaurant many times and found the food to cooked to the highest standard and very tasty. Junior always looks after all his dinners the same giving his time to new and old well worth a visit for good food at a nice price.
