Went in today 4/4/19 for a bruise sustained while on vacation in Tavira. Doctor prescribed a quite expensive "medicine" to buy at the pharmacy that, upon arriving home, I realized was a "massage cream/moisturizer" with no proven medicinal properties whatsoever in the treatment of bruises.
Strongly advise anyone checking in and being treated for minor injuries to check at the pharmacy exactly what is being prescribed before purchase.

Desloquei-me hoje , domingo pelas 16h ao Centro de Saúde de Tavira com uma dor intensa que dava a ideia de ser ciática. Fiquei deveras surpreendida pela positiva.
Pessoal desde a administrativa ao médico passando pela enfermeira muito atensiosos e muito profissionais.
O tempo de espera foi curto.
O médico competente, após obsrvação pediu à Sra Enf. para me injectar 2 medicamentos. As injeções aliviar-me-ia mais rapidamente a dor . De seguida passou uma receita para complementar a medicação iniciada ali.
Ao fim da tarde sentia-me bem melhor.
Obrigada a todos os que me atenderam naquele centro de Saúde e parabéns . O SNS tem sítios onde se trabalha bem
O que é bom deve ser realçado.

A 2/9/2018 fui enrolado numa onda e bati com a cabeça na areia, magoando a coluna cervical. Dado que a dor era intensa e a rigidez aumentou durante a tarde, decidi recorrer à consulta no SAP de Tavira. Cheguei às 16,24 e na receção informaram-me que tinha uma pessoa à minha frente, que os serviços fechavam às 17 e que a Dra. já tinha dito que não atendia ninguém depois das 17. Alternativa Vila Real ou Faro. Achei esta postura lamentável e entendi que deveria fazer esta reclamação aos serviços de regulação da saúde e aqui mesmo.
Fui atendido de forma satisfatória em VRSA.

Very slow staff, not helpful at all, no air conditioning inside although it's summer. No indications of where to go or where to wait.
Staff muito lento, não ajudam em nada. Nao há ar condicionado apesar de ser verão. Nao ha indicações de para onde ir nem onde esperar.

Très mauvais ! Même dangereux ! Reçu par un médecin qui n'a pas occulté mon enfant de 15 mois qui avait 40 de fièvre. Il ne l a même pas regardé. Il nous a prescrit un anti fiévreux en nous demandant d aller à l'hôpital à 40 km si ça ne s arrangeait pas dans 3 jours. Je lui ai dit que rentrions en France dans 2 jours il m a répété "Je ne suis pas pédiatre". Il y a 12 ans j'ai emmené mon ainée au même centre de santé et tout avait été très professionnel.
Sans compter le personnel d accueil désagréable et absolument pas professionnel. Pour des soins de qualité rendez vous à Taviclinica qui prend la carte européenne.
Quel dommage ! Encore un service public qui se dégrade.

The doctor is very good. However the reception is a bit of a lottery when it comes to been helpful. Some are very helpful but the rude ones let the team down. My husband needs a blood test recommended by the doctor, but when we gave the papers to reception she said no we don't do it here you have to find someone in Tavira to do this. So we said where abouts in Tavira, she said I don't know I'm not from here. Not a good answer in my opinion when you are there to help patients. It makes you feel like you are a nuisance to them. Thank you to the doctor and your helpful staff who are amazing but please retrain the rude ones to have more patience in this line of work.

Arrived at 3.30 p.m , helped to book in by the security man and issued with a ticket. Saw the doctor 15 minutes later and on my way with a prescription by 4.15. Excellent Service and cost €4.50

It was the worst medical assistant we have had, my partner came in with high fever and very bad sore throat. We arrived at 11.30am to be told we have to wait until 2pm to get assistant, we were even advised to drive 20km away from Tavira to get assistance. After much arguing we talked to a lovely lady that put us through a very unprofessional and condescending doctor named HERNANDEZ. Since we stepped in he was so rude and he was even doubting of my partners symptoms, he had such an attitude that made us so uncomfortable. We left the place with paracetamol and nose spray prescribed. My partner was so sick overnight without any medications luckily we got into Seville. THE WORST EXPERIENCE. If you’re a tourist please try to ensure you do not get sick in Tavira.

Pessimo. Vou pra perguntar como faco pra esperar vez e resumem me que eu e que tenho de procurar pelo edificio que nem conheço. A entrada funcionários a dizer que nao preciso de tirar senhas e quando entro dizem me que devia tirar senhas e nao me sabem dizer que tipo de senha tirar. Por situações assim e que muita gente desiste de ter cuidados médicos.

Het was weekend en ik had een voorschrift nodig voor een zware bronchitis. Bood me op verwijzing van de Farmacia aan in dit Centrum. Inchecken duurde een half uur. Vervolgens mocht ik een uur de wachtkamer in. Toen kwam de secretaresse (die nauwelijks Engels (of een andere taal dan Portugees) sprak, mij en de twee overige 'buitenlanders' vertellen dat we konden beschikken en ons namiddag opnieuw mochten aanbieden; de Portugezen mochten blijven, ook zij die na ons kwamen.
Voor mij was dit geen optie daar ik op doorreis was. Die uitleg mocht niet baten. Ze was vriendelijk, daar niet van. Maar wat een schandalige service.

This was by far the worst health related infrastructure that I ever was in Portugal!!
We called the 24 hours health line because of our 1 year old son. They advised us to go to Centro de Saúde de Tavira from 15:00 to 19:00. When you arrive, on the ticket machine (which gives you a number) is written that you can only get a number until 18:45. That was not the problem because we got there at 18:30 but even so it was not printing more numbers, for that day they were all already used... The security guy there told us that we should go directly to the reception and explain the problem.
The center was almost empty, there was just one adult already being taken care by the doctor but for some reason the reception worker was also there on the back and we had to wait until she arrived. She came once alone and just ignored us, the second time she was with this other patient and started asking him questions about allergies and so on and typing the answers with one finger on the computer. After, the patient asked were was the nearest pharmacy, she went back again with him and discussed for some time where the pharmacy was, we could hear everything. At some point the doctor told him: "in the center of Tavira" and the patient (who was foreign and couldn't speak Portuguese) said: "That doesn't work for me, I need an address to put on my navigation system".. and it took a while again. Finally the reception woman came back (at 18:55), and at the same time arrived a new (at least for us) patient. He started talking to her and I got closer (to show that I was there before), he understood and asked me if I was there before, I answer yes but the reception woman said: "This patient is in front of you because he is here since six a.m.". At this point I was already full of excessive unprofessionalism and told her that we were there sent by "linha saúde 24" and that it was not possible to take more numbers. The question is if someone can check my son." She left without saying anything and my mother heart just came out of my mouth: " Yes or no?" She looked back to me and said that she was going to ask the doctor (and other comments about my mad way of talking, which was not important for me at the moment). She came back and said that the doctor couldn't see us anymore and we should go to Faro (38 km from there). Some remarks: The administration of the hospital should clearly inform the "Saúde 24" about the 18:45 and the numbers system so they can inform patients to be there at 16:00 top if they want to be seen by a doctor, they also should have somewhere the information about the open pharmacies with addresses. The secretary should take a typing course and stay more in her desk. And finally the doctor should read (or reread if she did already) the Portuguese "Regulamento de deontologia médica".
The "Saúde 24" service is a great public health improvement in the Portuguese health system but it cannot work alone! The Tavira health center is pushing it backwards and something needs to be done.

Em pleno Agosto na praia do Barril, necessitei de cuidados médicos e dirigi me ao posto existente, que segundo a informação na porta são assegurados pelo centro de saúde de Tavira, e esteve fechado toda a tarde!! VERGONHA! Praia a não voltar!

Staff lento, desorganizado, mandaram me ir lá 3 vezes para falar com a médica e quando ia nunca estava a médica, mandavam de manhã de tarde e cada "secretária" diz uma coisa diferente... muito mau
