Really neat ruins that were discovered under the city, well informed guide and best of all, it's free. Not easy to find, they do tours on the hour, so you must be on a tour to visit, they are closed for lunch too. Check in with them before you visit, get a time slot and come back to visit. It is on the back side of the millennium bank, the museum is part of the bank it seems. It is on their property, they discovered the ruins during construction of a parking garage and preserved it for the public, instead of destroying it like most places have.

Nella Baixa sotto la banca Millenium si trova il Nucleo Arqueologico da Rua dos Correiros. È un sito archeologico scoperto nel 1991. Si tratta di una serie di ritrovamenti stratificati che si trovavano a lato di un affluente del Tejo che scorreva nella zona della Baixa. Qui troviamo numerosi resti stratificati: una bottega cartaginese, una piccola necropoli, un’azienda romana specializzata nella conservazione del pesce, ben visibile dalle vasche per il trattamento del pesce. Il tutto coesiste con parti delle antiche fondamenta delle case della Baixa distrutte dal terremoto del 1755. Spicca nel complesso un mosaico del III secolo.

Greater groups should book their tour via phone or Email. If you want a place for sure you should book too.

This museum (an underground archeological site) and tour is highly recommend! An actual archeologist that participates in Lisbon city digs leads the tour and is very knowledgeable. I'm exceedingly happy I spent time there.

Excelente exemplo de mecenato e preservação do património. Um sítio único em Lisboa, com visitas guiadas gratuitas (aproximadamente 45min). Para usufruir só necessita de ligar e marcar a visita ou então ir diretamente ao sítio e aguardar pelo início da visita.
Para quem se interessa pela evolução da cidade de Lisboa é um local excelente para perceber os diferentes níveis ocupacionais desde o período Pombalino à ocupação romana.
Parabéns ao Millennium BCP pela preservação deste importante março patrimonial.

Um passeio imperdível quando vier a Lisboa. Conhecer bem no centro da cidade, na famosa Rua Augusta as escavações que revelaram a presença de vários povos por aqui,desde os Fenícios, os sete séculos de ocupação Romana, dentre outras presenças marcantes é emocionante.
O Banco Millennium proporciona visitas guiadas de segunda-feira a sábado, em diversos horários e línguas diferentes, basta agendar.

Really amazing experience, and gives you a history of Lisbon. The ruins show how the salted fish factory works and supplied the whole Roman empire. It is free so I recommend you book or visit another day prior. To book your spot.

Hidden under the Millennium BCP bank building are layers of ruins dating from the Iron Age. You'll find remains of previous occupants of the city and can see the overlapping structures from periods ranging from Punic to medieval era.

Une superbe visite guidée (et gratuite !) par une archéologue dans le sous sol de la banque Millenium. La qualité des explications et des vestiges permet de remonter aisément le temps dans le Lisbonne romain et arabe. La visite est en anglais (ou en portugais, selon l'heure : il faut réserver son créneau) et agréable à suivre. Je recommande fortement !

Een rondleiding met een archeoloog door de geschiedenis van Lissabon. Goed opgezet en mooi om te zien wat er allemaal onder de grond bewaard is gebleven uit de verschillende tijden. De rondleiding duurt 1 uur.

This place is amazing tour through 2500 years of Lisbon history. The tour is free, but is conducted by an archaeologist. They take you beneath a bank that discovered this site when excavating the area for a car park. Thankfully they choose to preserve it. There are Roman Baths, Medieval burial, remains of Phoenician houses and a Roman factory. For lovers of history this is a must. The tour departs from building 21 but you should put your name down with security next door. Only some of the routes are conducted in English.

You have to take a guided tour but it's well worth it. The guide was super. The history fun and engaging and the setting intimate. Also it's free.

Amazing archaeological site accessed via a free 30-40 minute guided tour available in English or Portuguese (not sure about other languages). There are also some display cabinets containing objects found at the site which you can only view during the tour. The staff were very accommodating and the guide very nice, knowledgable and happy to answer questions.
Building remains from roughly three different historical periods were found where the bank who owns the building above was trying to build a basement. This was abandoned when the discoveries were made... I'll say no more, so as to not spoil the surprises this great little underground tour has to offer... :)

C'est là que l'on découvre le patrimoine de la ville de Lisbonne riche de plus de 2500 ans d'histoire. Lors des travaux de restauration du quartier, ce patrimoine archéologique à été découvert faisant mise à jour de ce grand passé historique.
Ensuite le musé à été créé à l'emplacement de ces découvertes, maintenant accessible au public. Le musé est très fréquenté maintenant. C'est le point de rendez vous des historiens et des étudiants. Ne pas hésiter à faire une belle visite.

Es muy bonito, pero lo valoro con tres estrellas pq te asaltan para vender de todo, además los restaurantes de la zona son muy pesados a la hora de comer o cenar para que vayas a sus restaurantes y "cuidado con el engaño".

Nous avons adoré notre tour guidé en anglais du site archéologique (il est parfois en français si tous les visiteurs parlent cette langue). L'information était précise et le site archéologique donne un bon aperçu de l'histoire de Lisbonne depuis l'époque romaine jusqu'au tremblement de terre de 1755. Je recommande fortement lors de votre passage à Lisbonne.

Located on the heart of downtown Lisbon, this museum was built on top of ancient ruins that were discovered during the renovation works of Millennium's headquarters. Most of the visit takes place underground. In there you can see the influence of not just one but of various civilisations and cultures that settled in the area where Lisbon stands today. The visit was very informative and eye opening about the evolution of this city since the Era of Roman occupation. The visit is free, but you have to book it in advance since tight quarters only allow for a limited number of visitor per visit.

The site is a lovely glimpse into the latest 2500 years of Lisbon. I really felt I was getting to know the real heart of the city by going down to see the vestiges from the Phoenician, Roman and Pombaline times. Also, the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and very kind as to give us a tour even though we arrived 20 minutes later than the normal start time.
It's a wonderful experience for history lovers and I fully recommend it. Try it for an hour while you're in the center of Lisbon! It's free!

Right in the center of Lisbon this tour is available to everyone and its free.
Owned by the bank Millennium BCP this small private museum reveals the archaeological treasures to be found under the Pombaline Baixa (downtown), displaying vestiges from different ages, but specially from the Roman times. You can go to the level that Lisbon had before the earthquake of 1755.
You need to book the visit by calling, they have tours in various languages.

Un musée dans une banque... Ruines romaines du 5ieme siècle avant JC (habitation, atelier de salage du poisson et fabrication du garum (genre de nocnam romain) découvertes lors de travaux pour faire un garage. La visite (1 h) est très intéressante avec des explications très claires. On peut y voir aussi le systeme des pombalines, premier système anti sismique au monde mis au point après le séisme de 1755 par le marquis de Pombal alors premier ministre. Ce système consiste à croiser des poutres de bois vert (pin). Le musée est gratuit, attention aux horaires de visites pas tout toujours indiqués.
