The food was very good and the service friendly (although a bit slow) but unfortunately I don’t recommend this place. It’s really overpriced and they seem to be out to rip off unaware tourists. It’s common in Portuguese restaurants that they put the couvert on the table (usually some cheese, bread and olives) and you pay for what you eat. But normally they tell you that explicitly or at least the prices are written in the menu. That was not the case. They didn’t warn us and the couvert was not mentioned in the menu. It was our first day in Portugal, so we thought that was all on the house, but ended up paying about 13 euros for a bit of bread, cheese and ham.

This place is a scam... They are bringing you a tiny plates of bread, chease and ham... And finally you are finding on your bill that costs almost 17euro... Avoid this super expensive location.

My brother owns a restaurant and I know a little bot of the business. I guess I only been there for an hour and I only spent 63 Euros and I stayed too long where the manager was kicking me out. I get that it is a business and I am not sure why you are so rude to your customers. I hope the owner thinks twice about the way you run this restaurant. I never leave comments or reviews but I guess you made such a negative impression that I wrote one. I am sure this review does not matter but hopefully other visitors will think twice about your manners. Namaste.

Grosse arnaque, plat type cuisine concept, on a vu la mise en place il y a beaucoup de congelé. Le poisson avait un peu gout d'eau... On vous survent un cocktail insipide à 9€ on vous pose comme si c'était offert un petit fromage et 4 morceaux de jambon qui sont facturés 18€ !!! Ce stand est juste une machine à cash , à éviter. C'est la seule mésaventure de ce type en 1 semaine de vacances au Portugal

Prétentieux.
Portions petites et goût pas au rendez-vous.
Le chorizo (qui représente la partie "terre" de votre plat censé être "terre et mer") c'est la pincée de poudre au dessus de votre cabillaud !
La purée aux noisettes n'a pas une texture agréable, le filet de matière grasse autour d'elle ne lui rend pas service.
Je passe (puisque ça se fait, paraît-il, au Portugal) sur les 3 assiettes d'amuse-gueules disposées d'office sur votre table (jambon sec à 9,80€ - quand même - , fromage de brebis à 5,70€ et 3 demi tartines grillées à 1,40€, ce qui vous fait un total de 17 euros en sus -quand même - si vous n'avez pas la bonne idée de be pas y toucher)
Ce restaurant ne fait pas honneur à tous les autres restaurants de Lisbonne qui nous ont enchanté par leur rapport qualité /prix.
Pur snobisme culinaire.
Assiettes jolies à défaut d'être bonnes.
On ne passe pas un bon moment et l'addition fait mal au ventre.

My wife and I enjoyed a tasty and unusual dinner tonight (the cod & potato for one of us, the black rice for the other), both prepared and served with care, with very friendly wait staff. But the whole thing was spoiled at the end when we discovered that the 3 unordered plates they placed in front of us at the beginning (small toasts, Portuguese cheese, and prosciutto), as though an offer from the house, ended up costing more than either of the main dishes, almost 18 euros. That instantly changed this from "must-write-about find" to "must-warn-about tourist trap". Really too bad. And I can't see us visiting this chef's other restaurants after this experience.

Restaurant très décevant.
Les plats sont chers pour la qualité servie.
L'attente a été très très longue.
Pour nous faire patienter, les serveurs nous ont servi des tapas dites "offertes par la maison".
Belle surprise au moment de payer l'addition : les tapas nous ont été facturées 50€...
Suite à nos plaintes, les serveurs nous ont montré une toute petite ligne écrite sur le menu et nous ont affirmé qu'ils nous ont prévenu qu'il ne fallait pas y toucher si l'on n'en voulait pas.
Bref, un bel exemple d'attrape touriste.

Super lecker! Mit Gerichten um die 15euro. Man muss aufpassen, denn wenn man nicht rechtzeitig nein sagt, werden einem noch weitere leckere Sachen (Starter) aufgeschnackt. Aber das scheint portugiesischen Manier zu sein. Ansonsten seeeehr lecker!

Qualité inégale des plats, c'est très beau, mais pas toujours très bon, en plus c'est super cher pour le Portugal, le sourire de la serveuse fait passé la pilule, mais ce n'est pas un restaurant typique portugais.

We just bumped into this place and it was an absolute pleasant surprise. Great fushion food. Different from all other places in the Time Out Market. Yes it is not cheap but definitely value for money given its quality, taste, texture, and service. It is all in balance. The best food we had during our 11 days in Lisbon.

One of the worst experiences that i ever had on the market. Me and me family waited for 10 minutes and any waiter showed up to take our order, so we had to ask for the balcony waiter, who was preparing the food, to take the order and after that he asked to the proper waiter to complete the order, that was the beggining of our problem. The “waiter” basically shouted at us that our order was wrong, because we ordered just one entree for three people, instead of being polite and said that was not enough for us, what is pretty obvious, he shouted at us saying that the restaurant was not our kind of restaurant.
We were speaking portuguese so it was really clear that his intention was to push us out of the restaurant. My advice is not to go there if you want to have a good time, there are another cheaper and nice options on the market.

Compliments to the chef and waiter. Good service and unique food, perfect end meal for our trip.
Note that the price wasn’t cheap but beats the usual food that we had over in Lisbon, all of them are specially crafted and paired to flavoured.

Food was very good but felt very pushed by servers to order. They first served us appetizers to start that we did not order.. they just explained what they were but after checking our bill- we were charged.. not per plate.. but the quantity of people that ate the appetizers. Food is a bit pricy for other good seafood restaurants that can be found in Lisbon.

This was the most poorest value for quality and quantity that we had between Porto and Lisbon. We only had 3 starters to share between to of us and one small beer and the bill was €38! We spent €35 for 5 dishes with drinks at Bairro de Avillez, in comparison this is a real rip off and a tourist trap in the market. Save your money and go to a much nicer restaurant or go to stall in the market which doesn’t charge for cover. The food wasn’t even that tasty and the dried bread and nuts they give out at the start of the meal are awfully dry and nasty.

Tough call for me as I'm generally not big in fusion food culture. It's largely alien to me to be honest. Still, heard so much about modern Portuguese cuisine, thought I'll stick my neck out and try... So my verdict had not changed, still prefer my octopus prepared I. The traditional way... simply charred grilled with lemon, salt and a touch of olive oil... Otherwise it's nice to just kick back and relax over a meal at the al fresco portio... Wine's pretty decent.

Good food, nice ambiance. We had the codfish, which was delicious.
But paying the same for a virgin cocktail as for a normal one felt like being ripped off. 9 euro for a fancy lemonade is just outrageous. Hence the one star.

Good food. Very weird service. Very strange place. The only waitress work relentlessly, chef do nothing but cook although is in front of you. They close the kitchen without notice. In Mr. Nassim Nicholas Taleb, these guys have no skin in the game.

This was our first time to the Time Out Market and we picked O Surf and Turf. The service was very slow. It took a long time to get menus! We almost got up and left. Once we ordered things came out quicker and the server was friendly. The appetizers and the main courses tasted really good however the portion size to cost ratio is less than desirable. It was a tasty but expensive lunch.

Cons:
- So we only ordered drink with 2 octopus dishes and then the staff gave us an appetizer without asking, we assumed it was free until we got the bill. This is really inappropriate what they have done. I asked the staff member what it was as the bill was in Portugese and she confirmed we got charged for the appetizer even though we didn't order it and the staff member just put the meal on our table. Anyway, they took the amount off the bill which was kind but make sure if you're a tourist to speak up.

Nettes Lokal im food corner des Time Out Market. Wir hatten Octopus mit Süßkartoffel, es gibt einige kreative Varianten von Seafood, war mal was Anderes. Kellner war sehr nett und hat uns auch über das Nachtleben in Lissabon informiert. Es gibt auch einen Gastgarten.

This spot was really busy, but we decided to get in early to Timeout and we still had to short wait to get seats. If you don't mind the wait, this restaurant is well worthy of your time.
What's awesome is that everything is cooked within 10 feet from you, so it's a free show before the meal. We got to see our food being made and the owner, Chef Kiko, was working and plating each dish that went out. Very cool to see a chef that works the kitchen.
Our dishes were extremely well cooked, the flavors were precise, and the presentation was picture ready.
We agreed that we'd all definitely go back and try out other dishes on their menu the next time we're in town!

Pedimos risotto nero e o bacalhau com pure de amendoas. Ambos os pratos estavam gostosos, apesar de serem porções relativamente pequenas e caras. Não gostamos do fato de trazerem o couvert sem pedirmos (ainda que o garçom tenha explicado devidamente o preço) e também de um cheiro forte de esgoto próximo.

The food is mostly good, the staff is friendly and attentive. The octopus with duck ham is recommended. Same goes for the appetizer with shrimp and bacon. Despite a nice meal and a pleasant atmosphere, one thing drew the whole experience down. After we got seated a waiter came with some bread with nuts and some cream. We tried it and didn't like it that much. We were surprised to find this item on the bill at the end, we had not ordered it in the first place, and it cost us €2,85 each (€5,70 altogether). That's not okay.

It is always overwhelming to choose where to eat each time I visit Time-out Market in Lisbon. This time we decided to try out a Renowned restaurant by chef Kiko Martins. My friends don’t eat meet, so they have chosen the same dishes without meet toppings and it didn’t take anything from the tastes away. Arroz Negro was the best I have ever eaten. Creamy with perfect t saltiness, it just melted in your mouth with explosion of flavours. My friends have chosen bacalao, which was also just perfect. Our waitress was chatty and extremely helpful on food choices and wine pairing.
What a delightful lunch. We enjoyed it so much that we didn’t event realise we were in the restaurant over three hours. Time flew by, with sun shining, conversation flowing and most delicious food of the weekend in Lisbon.

Oh dear.. Food was delicious. Nero risotto with shrimps and small crunchy bacon is heaven.
I was amazed to see kitchen staff to be so calm and precised with food. Portioning, prep, cooking, serving. Every step was very accurate.
Service was nice, helpful and informative, but would take back quarter of star (if I could) for waiting 10minutes for a bill (no.. our server wasn't with anyone at that time, just hanging out around bar).

Over-priced and under-whelming. Decided to stop off at the Time Out market after listening to the outdoor jazz festival close by. The portions were small and the main course came out about 30 seconds after taking our starter plates away, and were luke-warm at best. We paid €70 for 2 drinks, 2 starters and 2 small mains. Really not worth it. Have had much better culinary experiences in the city for the same money or much less.

The nero risotto was OK. The croquettes were OK. Everything was OK. It was nice being out on the patio. I think a lot of the other reviews hold true. It was busy, but I think only because it's in the time out market. Honestly, there are places within walking distance with food which is the same or better.

A comida até é boa .Mas o que estraga é o atendimento que é sofrível. Há um monte de funcionários mas nenhum está preocupado com o cliente. Porque o foco é organizadar as bancadas e o cliente não tem interesse nenhum. Já é a segunda vez que volto. Mas perdi o encanto. Uma pena.

Wish I had read the reviews before going to this place. I too got ripped off by the bread, cheese and meat thing at the start of the meal, told me it was an “appetizer” and charged me €16 at the end for the pleasure. There were more staff than customers and yet I still had to make a concerted effort to get their attention. I asked for a glass of wine and had to wait about 10 minutes for it. Also noticed several hygiene issues whilst observing the open kitchen. A guy was making a sauce and was using a spoon to taste it, putting it in his mouth several times. He then used the same spoon to put the sauce in a serving bottle! To top this all off the food was very average for what they were charging. Avoid this place, there are far better options in the market.

I went to there by myself, ordered octopus and a soft drink cost me 23 Euros, compared to the taste I think it’s really overpriced. And I don’t get it why they serve octopus with sour seasoned tapioca... in all I don’t like everything I ate tonight, not recommended.

The ceviche is worth trying. Chef Pedro made it and put popcorn and sweet potato chips on top after mixing it well with their secret sauce. Chef Kiko is famous for this dish. Best to come at 1130am and be the first to order. You can take the dish to the main Food hall.

Food was very pretencious for the price. My friends and I tried 3 out of the 4 main courses and they were all terrible. The idea of pairing tapioca with grilled squid (which tasted as bland as boiled squid) really baffled me as to why “Chef” Kiko can open multiple restaurants. Please do yourself a favour and find somewhere else.

Rarely have time to write a review, but have to do it today. Dear tourists and anyone else... stay away from that place (Surf & Turf at the Time Out Market in Lisbon). A bit of advise to Kiko Martins.... oyster shells and ground beef don't go together. Its a terrible combination. And if you are trying to sell small tasteless croquettes for 4 euro a piece... please don't call it food innovation, just call it a tourist rip-off. My quick summary for that place would be: most expensive and worst tasting fast food franchise I've ever been too. People are probably fooled by few young/student cooks trying to improvise food preparation in front of you.... unfortunately once they start squeezing something out of pre-prepared plastic bags in front of you and that something tastes like compost... your realize that you are just one of those abused stupid tourists. My worst experience in Lisbon so far.
When reading other reviews where people calling it most innovative experience... I can not help but think that everyone else like me is trying to find an excuse for themselves .... why did I just spend so much money on that terrible food.

Amazing quality, very detail-oriented professional staff and one of the most creative and innovative kitchen I've tried. Not the usual restaurant, the dishes are so creative and the ingredients and perfectly balanced for a rich taste. Such a creative mind to create a unique experience for the guests. Absolutely to try if you are in Lisbon! Recommended O Asiatico oysters and chocolate surf & turf brownies. Excellent!!

Amazing food paired with excellent service! I had the Roasted Octopus with Smoked Duck and tapioca as well as the Quinoa Risotto with Prawns and Pork Neck Croquettes and it was pure food-poetry! Nunu was an excellent weiter and made the visit special! Highly recommended in the TimeOut Market!

Maybe i am just used to Dutch service, but these guys were great! Friendly, attentive staff. But, the food.. Absolutely amazing! I am a carnivore.. And you can see they put the best of both worlds.. Pork belly, steak Tartare... In Amazing combinations with seafood. Highly recommended!

I tried them all at the Timeout Market, and you can have from fish and chips, burgers or pizza almost everything up to highlevel kitchen (Silva, Sea Me, etc.). But if you're out for something special - then go to 'O Surf & Turf'. The others cook, but here they create dishes on an absolute top level with a commitment and passion you don't find everywhere. While you enjoy your meal you can watch them prepare food with an airiness and charisma of a real chef. And if you do hard deciding between the chocolate thing or the other one for dessert, the guys will tell you with a mischievous smile, that you can get chocolate desserts here and there - then order the other one! You won't regret (I counted 12 different ingredients on this dish, not taking the different whips and mousses into account!). I had the menue up and down and know what I'm talking about. Hats off! Thank you guys.

Absolutely gorgeous, carefully combined and prepared food. Wonderful subtle touches to delight the palette. Friendly staff happy to talk about prep and who clearly take pride in their craft. Went two nights running so I could try other dishes. Really fabulous and fairly priced. Zac
