Surfers Lodge got it going on! This place is an oasis in the middle of the semi busy "main" street of Baleal. It is a great addition to the village life, and offers both a great restaurant, lodging, and has a wonderful rooftop where DJ´s entertain while you watch the stunning sunset go down into the Atlantic ocean. Laidback vibes, great friendly staff, and super good food in the restaurant. Worth a visit! Go Go Go! Staying in Baleal/Ferrel puts you right in the middle of everything, and you are where you want to be. The beaches are in walking distance, and so are many great restaurants and bars. Take your pick. The last couple of years there has been an explosion of gourmet food blowing up in Baleals face in a very good way! Take a trip to the town of Peniche or the center of Ferrel, but by the strip of Baleal is where you want to go to sleep, and where you want to wake up. Belive me! Obrigado dos ondas! Hang Five!

Superb staff. Good food. Lovely rooftop great dj on Saturday. Best hotel in Peniche.
I read some of the other reviews I travel a lot and what you realise people expect fine dining in small towns. This is very good and it’s a surf town so come relax and enjoy the town shopping and the surf schools. 5 to 7 days ideal and go Peniche surf school and of course the bars on the beach

La ensalada de quinoa no es gran cosa para ese precio. La hamburguesa no estuvo mal. Nos quedamos con lo bonito que es el sitio y con los Moscow Mule que no pueden estar más ricos.. eso sí, precios desorbitados.

Really nice hotel with lovely staff. Surf teachers are excellent, very helpfull and really friendly. Reception tries to fulfill any wish.
Would recommend to anybody who eould like to start surfing and spend some nights in Baleal/Peniche.

Really nice place. Definitely not a surfer bum establishment. The food was really good albeit a tad pricey compared with similar restaurants in the area but you pay for the atmosphere which is miles above the rest. The rooftop bar had some stellar views. The staff are really friendly and accommodating

I mean, probably the best surf lodge ever stayed in. Amazing food, crazy rooftop parties, Felipe tops any surf teacher, beautiful fun team and rooms were super comfy after a day’s surf.

Muy buena decoración y acondicionamiento. Tipo surfero. Grande y ambiente agradable. Pero dos copas 20 euros va más allá del término usurario. 2 pueblos se han pasado.

Caro no, lo siguiente. Una hamburguesa de bacalao, con patatas fritas de bolsa y un cuenco con una especie de ensalada, 18€. Todos los demás platos (tostas, ensaladas... Igual de desorbitados). Sitio muy guapo decorado pero no vale lo comes.

Very slow service. We had to wait for drinks 40min after ordering, had to wait an hour for starters that never arrived (appearantly they ran out and did not bother to inform us until we asked ourselves. Rude in response and no apologies offered) Very pricey compared to other restaurants in the area. Nice interior though, and thats about the only positive

Restaurant experiance from 25th of July:
We hadn't received our drinks for 30 minutes. After rechecking, no apologies just laughing. After 45 minutes we had asked for the starter. Answer: It is out! Asking why we were not told that it is out, we got the advice to order a different one. Again no apologies.
About the food:
Very expansive prices for average food.
The interior is nice but food, prices and service definitly bad.

Myself and my lovely lady wanted to learn surfing, after some heavy research Surfers Lodge in Peniche ticked all the boxes. The staff were so friendly and we felt almost like we were visiting friends, than staying in a hotel. The surf school was super fun and we both managed to stand up and catch waves, so in many ways this was worth it alone. The location has great proximity to the beaches, bars and food joints. The rooms are exactly as described and pictured, all in all I would quite happily stay here again. If anything we would love to sit in that lovely swimming pool on the roof, but in the summer ;)

The lodge is an epic place, we just went with a group of 50 people and stayed there for a week. Beautiful place, great location and the people working there are absolutely wonderful - can only recommend it :-)

Este puente de diciembre fui alli con mis hijos, teniamos mucha ilusioin. El pto anuncio no paraba de aparecer y dijimos, venga, vamos a ver que tal. Cuando llegamos, en la recepcion nos atendió una persona un tanto ebria, pero no le dimos importanssssia. La cama resonaba y era imposible conciliar el sueño, ademas la comida sabia a varniz. Sin duda lo peor era el olor a muerte que habia en los pasillos. Una experiencia muy desagradble.

Cosy and very familiar feel. Great breakfast and very helpful staff. If you come as a surfer they have lots things that make life easier. When I was there the guests were very nice and i made lots of new friends.

feels like homecoming with 5* service
Very friendly staff. The kitchen is very fast and serve you tasty-healthy food....wait for the breakfast! The best i ever had, so much choice of fruits, sweets, bread "everything". The rooms are very clean and decorated in style and the housekeepers are there for you.

The best place in Baleal, peniche, area to stay, & enjoy the amenities, & surroundings! Surfer’s Lodge is a Cozy chic Boutique hotel that Truly feels like a ski Lodge! They Have it All, great rooms, surfboard rentals and lessons, Yoga, hot tub, swimming pool, activity room,& a very nice restaurant. A great place to stop in connect to the Wi-Fi and have a burger or coffee between . Sessions. There live & DJ music sunset sessions on the roof top on weekends during summer months bring out the locals and the guests to make it the place to be! We love this place and highly recommend visiting!!!

This is a dream place. First of all, the location is optimal: it is next to numerous surf spots, and a short drive from Lisbon airport. The rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. The "living room" next to the restaurant is an ideal place to relax or get some work done. And the meals are delicious.
The terrace is a perfect setting to enjoy sunsets and socialise. They often have DJs or live music, and next to it, you will find the jacuzzi--which is a pleasure after a long, cold water session, or just a day exploring the surroundings.
And did I mention the owner? John is one of the most relaxed, yet contagiously energetic, and super friendly-helpful-person you will ever meet. And I mean it. Best vibes.
I cannot recommend this place more. I have been there several times and I long to get back. Always an adventure.

Couldn't even get anyone to attend our request. Worse service I've seen in a long time! Can't talk about the food because I didn't have the opportunity to try it, since we appeared to be invisible!
PS: there was almost no other clients to attend to!

Cosy and lovely hotel with such attentive and knowledgeable service. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful always ready to offer tips and local recommendations. Breakfasts were so good and the kitchen cooks always had a full supply of warm coffee and delicious food out in the mornings. Friends of mine stayed for lunches and dinners and had praise but I didn't get the chance to try.
I spent three days with a surf school lesson and it was a great experience. The instructors were super - took it at a comfortable pace but looking to push your boundaries with each new day. I'm already looking in the calendar for dates to return next year!

Very relaxing spot, more of a home away from home.
Stayed for 1 week and enjoyed the experience. Surf lessons every day with Turko were excellent and skills improved immensely ♂️

Unfortunately, we didn’t have a nice experience here. Waited very long, then got served cold food. Although they changed it after we asked for it, they didn’t apologise... nice location but not worth it food & service wise.

If you like waiting, short-poured wine and food that sits on the bar waiting for the wait staff to finally pick it up and bring it to you well cooled, this is the place. Avoid the "tacos". They're terrible. Crunchy pork? No. Soggy soy sauce drenched mystery meat with cabbage. Even drinks were a disappointment. I mean really, does it take 15 minutes to pour that half glass of wine?

I was a bit disappointed of the food there (dessert is awesome). For the very high prices for this area the food wasnt very good, just ok. The place is nice (location, furniture, terrace) but just not worth the prices in my opinion.

The atmosphere is great, but the food quality decreased dramatically from the last two years.
We had a burger with a very dry patty and the kids spaghetti (nearly cold, no salt and overdone) with sauce Bolognese (bland).
The prices are far too high for this food quality in this region of Portugal. That was our last visit this year. Maybe they learn from the feedback and will improve...

Style over substance. The rooms are small and the en suite is separated from the room by a sliding glass door offering very little privacy. We booked a surf lesson for the morning after we checked in and we were told it was at 9am with no more information than that. We were at breakfast from 8 till 9 only to find the surf lesson had left without us!! Apparently we were supposed to meet at 8.40. Anyone with an ounce of initiative could've easily popped their heads into the breakfast bar and told us it was time to go. They didn't. We moved to an air b&b the next day which was cheaper, more spacious and a much nicer atmosphere. Wouldn't stay here again. For a great air b&b call Ana whose appartmemt is directly behind the hotel.

Service was good but food is overpriced and not so good. We spent $30 on a bottle of tapwater, a Caesar salad and spaghetti with meat sauce. I would say that the meal with the ingredients used and the preparation was worth perhaps $15 tops. But The quality did not match what we paid. The atmosphere is nice if you want a warm cozy place to have a beer. If you want a good meal go to The Cantina down the street. Just be prepared to wait for a table.

Die Einrichtung sieht sehr gut aus. Es gibt Ecken wo ein Sofa steht. Die Theke / Bar ist sehr groß. Das Essen ist hier sehr lecker.

Conseguiram trazer entradas depois das sopas e esquecer metade do pedido, passados mais de 30m.
Dado o constrangimento gerado pela demora das entradas e esquecimento dos pratos, a senhora Paris prometeu uma sobremesa especial que mais uma vez foi esquecida e trocada por outra passados outros 30m...
Surreal.... tipo o Algarve há 30 anos atrás...

Amazing spot to spend a surfing retreat with friends or family! The hotel is offering very comfortable rooms with a great attention to details with regard to decoration and amenities! The restaurant's atmosphere is really cool, food is healthy and deliciously prepared! The staff is professional, kind and caring! Nice chill out area and great rooftop with a swimming pool and a jacuzzi!
DJs mixing in the evening on the rooftop for chillaxing with friends and family at sunset!
A great spot for surfers looking for superior comfort on top of great wave destination!

Surfers Lodge Peniche completely exceeded my expectations. Amazing rooms and atmosphere. I stayed for 5 days with surf lessons 1-2 times a day. After a long day of surf we either hanged out in the restaurant (omg the food!) or in front of the fire place in the sofa. Surf wise I had the best teacher so far, really structured and pedagogical lessons with video analysis every session. The place have everything you need in terms of comfort and the people working were great! You can really tell this is a place with a lot of heart and truly passionate owners.
