Peniche is an enchanted place and Nico, together with Joao, are truly amazing people and instructors. I was able to stand on my board in a few tries, mostly thanks to the very clear explanation of the theoretical part they explain you before getting in the ocean and this is something not many other schools and instructors do. The groups are small so that the instructors are able to dedicate enough attention to everyone, making you feel safe and looked after. Most importantly: they are specialist in fighting your frustration, always putting a smile on your face and making you laugh. With them I was not only able to finally surf decently, but also to learn many things about myself and life. As they say, surf is another a metaphor of life: you surf your wave, you fall, you get back on board, you paddle against the waves and then your wave comes again. If your can't decide which surf school to choose in Peniche, just go straight to Waterlost, trust me! You won't regret it! I miss you so much guys and I miss Peniche ❤️ Estou estudando Portuguese!

The best surf shop & rentals in Peniche and Baleal! We were renting surfboards and wetsuits for a week and Nico was very helpful, he supplied us with fixing strings so we can fix our boards to our car and made a substantial discount to us at the end (although he has the lowest prices in Peniche)! If you are up for surfing in Peniche and Baleal, regardless of your skill level - be sure to visit Nico’s place near Gamboa Bar!

The right place for the best surfing experience. We spent a week there with the guys and all went as smoothly as it could despite some rough weather at days. Nice and laid-back attitude, but very efficient surf coaching. The shop is also a good spot to pick up some trinkets or clothes. Btw environmentally-friendly :^) It's also a local brand, so the guys there are not driven by a pure profit hunt, but invest a great deal in developing surfing culture in Peniche. Give it a shot!

Nico is a nice guy and he and his crew are really great surf teachers. In just 3 days we managed to ride the waves in a self perceived supreme elegance and razor sharp style. Much recommended. Good deal!

My partner and I wanted to surf on Penishe we looked immediately for somewhere to we went to tje guys down the street first, not knowing, and got a lot of attitude. Not rude, just a bit unwelcoming and slightly arrogant, like; sit down and wait we’ll get to you when we can. they said they were full and would have to come back tomorrow afternoon I said they were we’re leaving tomorrow afternoon. Would they recommend anywhere else? They replied no, we’re the best. I immediately wanted out of there. I was so turned off and wanted to forget trying surfing altogether. Then we walked down the street and found Water Lost! Wow!!! Completely different! Very friendly, got us in for the last lesson of the day, taught us the important basics and safety around surfing and how to start off. But we also got a real seanse of their passion and spiritual connection with the sea. Being Peniche locals their families are fishermen and they honour that aspect of the community as well. It’s in their shop and I just had to buy a T-shirt. Can’t wait for my next lesson!! Happybrian

Ich bin schwer zu begeistern aber ihr habt es geschafft! Ihr habt nicht nur meine Erwartungen erfüllt, sondern auch noch übertroffen. Für mich... Qualität auf höchstem Niveau und die Weiterempfehlung von Waterlost bleibt ein absolutes muss! Das gesamte Team ist sehr kompetent und sympathisch und ich freue mich schon auf ein Wiedersehen und weitere Surfstunden nächstes Jahr. Auch die Eigenmarke Waterlost sollte nicht unerwähnt bleiben es gibt ganz tolle Sachen im Shop. Ich habe mir ein T-Shirt gekauft und finde die Qualität super, sehr angenehmer Stoff.

We just walked in to the shop for our sons to have a surf lesson, when we where doing a Portugal trip. From the moment we stepped in to the store, we felt home. The trainers are so nice, so patient. Our sons loved it! We actually wend for a second lesson just a few hours before we had to leave! The guys are great. If you want a good first experience surfing, go to Waterlost!

Awesome surf experience! We've check many places in Peniche, but once we got into this one, let me tell you that we could feel the vibe you're looking for when you want to learn surf. Amazing shop, amazing people, amazing lesson. Nico is a very nice human being, the kind you meet very few times in a lifetime and I'm very glad I did. He's so good and passionate about what he does, that it's inspiring. We had a great time and this place is definitely our first stop next time we head to Peniche. A huge thank you to the team at Waterlost who all participated in helping me achieve a dream of standing up on a surfboard despite me not having either the talent or physical prerequisites to do so. Thorough instruction, thoughtful, patient leadership on the beach and a company with a philosopical platform. Got to know the guys a tiny bit (big hug to Nico, Joao, Alex and Rodrigo) during our stay and felt immediately comfortable with the tuition and atmosphere. Nothing but praise from my wife and I.

Not only do they have a team of great, devoted instructors that do their jobs with seriousity AND a big smile on their face, but structure and safety is of ample importance. They posess quality suits and boards, and with all the above taken into consideration - their prices are ridiculously low. I came here two years ago for a lesson, and returned two years later for a week of consecutive lessons. Not only did I improve, and reach my goals, but I also learned how to have fun and play around, which speeded up my progression by a lot! I am looking forward to returning. Karla and I came to Peniche to improve our surfing skills and spend great holidays there and the time was even better than expected. Thanks to Nico the best shop owner and instructor and the team (especially Joao) we had the best time there, memories that will stay for a long time. We could improve our surfing there (I am not sure about this haha must be decided by you guys) because you really focused on all our individual mistakes and gave us great advice but also there were only good vibes when in the water. We found Waterlost by chance when we arrived in Peniche and were welcomed by Alex at reception who is a true gentleman and who had all the information and advice we needed. Having hired boards and wetsuits on the first day, we moved onto lessons with João and the team, who over a few days had us all surfing- their humour and good nature evident throughout. The professional approach of the team under Nico's leadership ensured we surfed when it was safe to do so and also meant we had a thoroughly enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

My time in Waterlost was a life-changing experience for me. This is not just another surf school in Peniche... The people there care about what they do, and really really know what they are talking about. But weirdly enough, i felt that the surf was not the thing that made me fell in love with Waterlost... I learned so many life lessons with these amazing people.. and i'm sure i will never forget this summer thanks to you guys. Thank you so much Nico, Joana, Rodrigo, João and Grégoire. My lad Ross (9) had a fantastic time Waterlost Shop/Surfschool. I watched from the beach as the School (Nico) spent 2.30hrs teaching the fundamentals, then bringing them into the water. I looked on seeing Nico encouraging him, slowly he began to get the hang of it and then he started to surf If you’re looking for a couple of hours one morning/afternoon of surfing, I can highly recommend this School. Waterlost is a hidden gem in Portugal! I'm so glad we found it and decided to check it out. Nunu Nico is an amazing person and made my family feel like part of his family. He is truly running his business for the love of people, surfing, and bringing both together. The shop design, layout, and merchandise is amazing. All of my family (wife and 3 kids) took surf lessons and loved it! We were all surfing on day one! The surf instructors give personalized surf lessons, feedback, and instructions to each person. They are fun loving and make the entire experience special and memorable. I can't wait to get back in two years!! They even recommended a great restaurant for us and the food was amazing and inexpensive. Probably the best meal we had in Portugal. I can't recommend Waterlost enough!

Professional and friendly instructors. Responsive to email enquiries. Our first lesson was wonderful : getting changed while they gave us the beginners theory bit, then to the beach for a warm-up and learning how to get onto the board, then into the water and catching waves. These guys teach surfing because they love it themselves and want to share.
