This is a family run business and the brothers have opened up their wonderful family home to guests. The house is situated at the top of the village near the castle with lovely views. It is packed ful of beautiful antique furniture and quirky ornaments. The beds are extremely comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. An extraordinary please. Stay here!

Amazing guest house furnished in historical fashion adjacent to the castle. Impeccably clean, super friendly staff, wonderful views and garden with a pool. Bike touring friendly. Highly recommend!

Casa de Santiago is a very charming old house that has been owed by proprietors family for many generations. The decor of the house is very historical, yet very comfortable by modern standards. The proprietors, Rachel and Francisco, were very gracious and went out of their way to make our stay very memorable. We had a very long and engaging conversation on Portuguese culture and history as well as current events throughout Europe and the world.I would highly recommend Casa de Santaigo to anyone wishing to stay in this part of Portugal.

Very quiet location at the very top of the old town, with no car traffic and hardly even passers by. Old building, with a certain charm from the outside, and decent breakfast. We booked their "loft": we found it extremely moist (with crumbling wallpaint and plaster), dark and very poorly cleaned, with hair between the sheets and stains on both the shower box and the toilet. The bathroom had no door or curtain to separate it from the living area. Had to call the host back as no keys to the room were given, than once more because the lock was very difficult to operate (for him too, as it took five minutes to figure it out). No front gate key was provided and we were instructed to just ring the outside bell at any given time.. although doing so at our arrival, well within check-in hours, had had no effect since the host was temporarily elsewhere. We had to leave unexpectedly and in a hurry after just one night, with no chance to bring up our complaints in person: when we did so by e-mail, the host provided just generic explanations. No refund for the nights we didn't spend (all paid in advance) was mentioned upon checking out, but all of a sudden one was offered (totally unsolicited) after our complaints: the host claimed it would have to be arranged through Booking. Weeks have gone by and, suprise!, the refund has failed to materialize. You draw your own conclusions. All in all, it's been a very dissatisfactory experience. It takes more than an old and possibly charming building to provide a stay that a discerning guest won't feel cheated about: proper maintenance and cleanliness, to start with.

Quite nice but in an odd little town with nothing in particular to commend it. Very expensive for what it is.
