Hidden Gem
Amazing food and service at reasonable prices. We had mixed kebab, piri piri chicken and steak and all were cooked beautifully. Will definitely return

Excelente relação preço/qualidade. Particularmente no período do almoço. O serviço é algo demorado mas vale a pena esperar. Recomendam-se entre outros o ribeye e a espetada de tamboril.

Excellente cuisine pour un prix plus que raisonnable. Les formules du déjeuner sont à huit euros, boisson et café compris. Le poulet est délicieux ! Seul bémol, le temps d'attente après la prise de la commande trop long. Plus de 30 minutes nous concernant pour ce déjeuner. Il est vrai que les plats une fois servis font oublier l'attente...

Todo estupendo. Está un poco alejado pero si tienes coche es la mejor opción. Menú al medio dia de 8 euros y carta por la noche.
El pollo a la brasa y con piña riquisimos, y el swordfish muy fresco y tierno. El menu incluye ensalda, bebida, patatas y arroz. Delicioso y barato!

I often come here on a Friday night. They have good food options including vegetarian. They're reasonably priced, the service is good and I like the décor too. Nice friendly place for all the family.

Lunch Special für 8€ ist sagenhaft. Ich hatte super leckeres Hühnchen mit Pommes, Reis, Salat, Brot und Oliven, 0,5 L Bier und zum Abschluss einen Kaffee. Sagenhaft ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Allerdings muss man die sehr lauten Engländer ertragen. Aber dafür kann das Restaurant ja nichts.

Super restaurant on mange pour 8€ par personnes avec mise en bouche, pain olives beure, une boisson, un plat accompagné d une assiette de salade d une assiette de frite d une assiette de riz legume, un café.
Que voulez vous de plus?.
Ma suggestion:
Avec la mise en bouche un verre de vin rouge en apéritif
Suivi d un poulet grillé au piri piri.
On est souvent sur Alvor et ce restaurant est pour nous un endroit de confiance, contrairement au restaurant à touristes bord de mer où vous payer cher pour la vue mais avec peu dans l'asiette. Au Chicken Tavern la nourriture est fraîche et bonne, mêmes les frites sont fraîches et non surgelés ( Et je sais de quoi je parle ).

Not sure what all the fuss is about here. It's OK. Had half a grilled chicken with piri piri. To be fair they didn't say the weight or age of the chicken and I didn't ask, but I assume it had the breast removed before it was cooked and served to me. Either that or perhaps it went off its food before being supplied to the restaurant. Wife's chicken kebab was OK though, had a lot more chicken, probably a whole one. Caveat Emptor. Won't be eating here again unfortunately after tonight's underwhelming meals.

Best restaurant in Alvor. The food is out of this world so full of flavour. Service is very good too. It's on the outskirts of Alvor so will need to get a taxi/Uber. Will definitely return.

Günstiges leckeres Essen. Hähnchen. Das Klientel ist britisch. Für Zöliakie Patienten einfach die Bedienung oder den Koch ansprechen. Die Pommes sollte Zölies meiden, ansonsten gibt es hier kein Problem!

Place is poorly cleaned, the toilet was an infernal mess.
The service was bad. The waiter refused to serve Tomahawk without providing a reason or replacement suggestion. Also forgot the ordered dessert completely.
The food wasn't the best either, with the vegetables being a miserable 5 leafs on the corner of the plate.

Restaurante simpático e boa comida( por mérito do cozinheiro) atendimento péssimo pelo próprio dono. Parece que está fazer nos um favor. Se um dia perderem o cozinheiro o restaurante pode fechar. O proprietário devia era tirar férias já que anda stressado a atender as pessoas. Só venham se estiverem com paciência.

UPDATE: Last couple of times wasn't so nice. Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, food isn't always as good as it used to be and service is a bit poor...

Delicious! Absolutely faultless. So busy because it's fresh and great food. Book a table if u can. Try the Portuguese steak..... monkfish kebab..... chicken piri piri and defo the sangria! Chocolate cake and chocolate mousse are beautiful.... wish I could eat here once a week every week. Definitely recommend!

Food was average. "Vegetables" were a mini slice of kiwi and two rocket leaves. Fries were all small and looked like they were the rest of a frozen fries bag. Service was below average. We waited alot for the food, and it didn't come on the same time. When they came with the rice, we were done eating our steaks. Waiters were rude, didn't believe us, when we said that they came with the wrong orders. It seemed they were too few and they had they even argued internally. Cannot recommend!

Una taberna especializada en carnes a la brasa, la cocina trabaja bastante bien y domina las brasas con buen gusto.
La atención en sala es bastante deficiente. Pedimos una botella de 375 cl que aparecía en la carta y el camarero nos puso una frasca de medio litro con un vino lamentable.
Precio asequible.

I'd read the good reviews for this place and went there looking forward to lunch. The food and drink were great, but disappointed with the poor (surly) service and their lack of interest. Not sure if I'll be going back, shame.

Comida de calidad, abundante y rápido. El trato es bueno y son atentos, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que estaban apunto de cerrar y no nos pusieron ninguna pega para servirnos.
Pedimos un salmón a la plancha que estaba delicioso y una hamburguesa vegana de garbanzos también bastante buena.

Serviço péssimo. Desorganização total. Pedimos a conta no "início"(?) da refeição quando simplesmente se esqueceram de nós e ainda tentaram desculpar-se com a casa cheia, quando outros chegados depois de nós já estavam a comer. Soubemos do erro cometido através de outro empregado. Nem um pedido de desculpas. A conta... ADEUS!

Прочитала все отзывы,а потом все-таки решилась написать свой.
В этот ресторан я с мужем пришла во второй раз и надеюсь что в последний.Если в первый раз мы сидели за столиком на улице,а ресторан находится у дороги и уж очень сильно шумно от машин,плюс курящие выходят покурить на улицу и им вообще без разницы в какую сторону дует ветер,то в этот раз мы постояли в очереди минут 10 и сели за первый свободный стол,нам сразу принесли меню,оливки, масло и хлеб,сразу же подбежал "официант" и на оооочень ломаном португальском попытался принять заказ,мы не как не могли договориться и к нему на помощь пришла женщина португалка в полосатой футболке и наконец то мы смогли сделать заказ,времени у нас много не было,поэтому при заказе мы спросили какое блюдо занимает по готовке меньше времени,нам предложили свинное мясное асорти.Прождали мы всё это дело ЦЕЛЫЙ ЧАС,кучу пересушинного мяса на гриле три пиалки с рисом,с жареной,очень давно и потом подогретой,картошкой и мини салат с вялых и теплых овощей.Ах да,мы заказали графин белого вина и нам его принесли к тем самым оливкам которые мы съели уже как час назад.Если честно я уже есть и не хотела,но так как прошол уже целый час мне очень хотелось узнать,что я такого особенного заказала приготовить и почему у них готовка заняла в е это время.Я понимаю,что ресторан не дорогой и то что все хотят поесть вкусно и заплатить мало,но б...ля целый час жарить мясо на гриле это жесть,я это говорю потому,что сома работала в ресторане и знаю сколько уходит времени на готовку того блюда что мы заказали.
Состояние такое от этого "ресторана" как Если бы меня ещё в дверях послали нах...й,чувствуешь себя не клиентом,а последним бомжом,будто я пришла к ним попросить поесть.Я в шоке.Хотела пообедать с мужем,а получилась полное Г.....Я очень расстроена походом в этот так называемый ресторан.

I had an awful experience. We had reserved for 5 people for 8 pm. I asked politely if we could sit outside, and that we did not mind waiting. The waiter responded aggressively, saying we would have to wait till 11. Three of our chairs were between the table and the wall. There was not room enough to slide a sheet of paper between the corners of the end chairs and the table legs. It was impossible to be seated without pushing the table away from the wall, and completely blocking the aisle. The three of us were thus trapped between the table and the wall for the whole meal. I don't eat meat, so I ordered the monkfish kebab. I found it revolting that it was served with slices of pork on the skewer. I felt the whole experience was that I was treated like a battery hen at feeding time.

Comida horrível pedimos uma espetada de tamboril e bife de cogumelos .O bife veio bem passado quando foi pedido medio. A espetada sabia a peixe velho compriendo deve ter esquesido no congelador por uma decada.legumes tinha a sabor horrível. A preço que está ficamos desapontados.

The Chicen Taveren is a short walk from Vitors Plaza. The starter and the main course were good and there was plenty with all the extra side dishes. They also know how to make a good sangria.
For us there were only two downsides: the teramisu was dry and the seats are small and hard. (If you are 1m90cm try to gold your legs below the seat).
Please do try the Chicken Taveren and make your own opinion of the place. When you go here i hope you have a better desert experiance then us.
And ask for a pillow!

Great little find! Somewhat off the beaten track - just outside the bustling little fishing town of Alvor. However, once you get there, don't be put off by the location as we almost were. Situated on a fast-moving highway you will find this delightful tavern serves up the best Piri-Piri I've ever tasted. Quaintly decorated and well looked after, this restaurant offers delicious chicken and we also had a surprising good garlic prawn dish as a starter. The food was well presented and the service polite, efficient and very friendly. If you're in and around Portimao or Alvor? Go there!

Oramai è anni che ci vedo è tutto molto buono, compreso il famoso Frango piri piri. Consiglio come dolce il crumble de maça è un dolce con la mela a pezzi cotta in forno e gratinata con un impatto croccante te accompagnata da gelato alla vaniglia. Il personale è gentilissimo.
