Regrettably, due to COVID-19 we had to cancel our reservation a few days before we were due to arrive in Tavira. Most regrettably, despite giving the hotel A Mare plenty of notice that we were cancelling and receiving a reply from the owner/manager Daniela wishing us a safe journey back to Canada, they charged us the full fee for 2 nights' stay. We are very disappointed with this establishment. Even though I hope to visit the Algarve in the future, I will never book with them again and would not recommend anyone else does.

Um hotel muito simpático, qualidade e preços bastante justos, um atendimento muito bom, salientando o profissionalismo do Sr. Paulo. A restauração, tem um pequeno almoço satisfatório, sendo que os valores das outras refeições são um pouco elevadas para aquele espaço. Muito bem localizado, sendo fácil ir a pé para qualquer lado, até para apanhar o barco para a Ilha.

Nice family run hotel beside the quay. The beds are large and comfy, breakfast is continental self-service and freshly prepared. There is a small roof-top seating/sun lounge area. The restaurant is due to re-open soon (Spring 19). We enjoyed our stay.

Nice place, close to market and free car park. Helpful staff, they were doing up the restaurant while we stayed and it looked like they were doing a nice renovation. Rest of hotel is a little dated but it is clean, friendly and well appointed.

They state they have parking and they do not have any designated parking, our room had a faint sewage smell to it, and the water pressure for the shower is poor.

Great location. The friendliest of hosts. The hotel restaurant was under renovation while we were there but the workers were not in the way or disruptive to normal sleeping times so it wasn’t invasive to our stay. The location looking out over the River was adorable and being adjacent to the walking shopping and eating areas was fabulous.

Great staff on check in, property is in a great location. Nice rooftop terrace to see the city and river. Room has a fridge which is a nice bonus. Room is dated in appearance. Parking is in a public lot a few hundred meters away and is free. We were there in off season so no issue getting a parking spot but I can imagine it would be a challenge at times. Good value.

The hotel was fine — clean rooms spacious clean & user. The staff was terrific! TAP gave a ton of grief about my bag being too heavy, so I asked the desk clerk if there was any store where I could buy a duffle bag at a reasonable price. He went way beyond to help me. As a result the TAP clerk couldn’t give any lip this time

Great location. Breakfast was great! Nice staff and clean rooms. Only complaint is there are no luggage racks but that seems to be a problem every place weve been.

Kindness of reception staff was remarkable. Please note that there is not a lift. Maybe not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. The premises are traditional, full of character. Launderette nearby and iron available at reception.

A lovely stay for 3 nights. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast - continental was good and plenty to eat.

Residential Mares was just was what we hoped for in this quaint fishing village. The staff is wonderfully accommodating, helping to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Be advised there are lots of stairs, but our charming host was quick to help with luggage.

Fatal, unos caraduras. Llame por tlf para informarme de las habitaciones disponibles para 2 adultos y 2 niños de 6 y 9 años para pasar 1 noche a finales de agosto, me ofrecieron una familiar a un precio y una doble con vistas al río con posibilidad de poner 1 cama supletoria y pagar el precio de la habitación mas 10€ por niño (esta doble con supletoria, salia algo mas barata que la familiar). Pues nos decidimos por la Doble, puesto que por su pagina web no ofrecía lo que nos dijeron por tlf. nos comentaron que lo hiciéramos por Booking y así lo hicimos, reserve realizada sin ningún problema, 2 adultos y 2 niños de 6 y 9 años en habitación Doble con vistas al rio. Pues ya teniamos nuestra habitación reservada. Esto fue un jueves, pues el lunes siguientes recibo una llamada de Booking, diciendome que les ha llamado el propietario diciendoles que esa reserva no era posible, que tiene que ser si o si en habitación familiar (por qué lo ofrecen sino es posible?). Explico a los de Booking mi conversación con el Hotel y me dicen que lo entienden, pero que el hotel les ha dicho que no es posible ese tipo de habitación. Pido a Booking que cancele la reserva y llamo de nuevo por tlf al Hotel. Les cuento todo lo ocurrido y su primera respuesta: "Imposible que nosotros le hayamos indicado que reserve una Doble con vistas al rio para 2 adultos y 2 niños", yo alucinaba "es política interna y las ocupaciones son las que son y mas en esta época", como ?, que si vengo en invierno no hay problema de pasar 1 noche en esa habitación con 2 niños y ahora en verano si?....que pena...Sincronicen ese tipo de politica interna, que sea la misma en su propia web, en webs de reservas, en la primera llamada de tlf y en la segunda llamada de tlf. Me parece un acto impresentable de cara a un cliente, les doy un 0 y por seguro que si alguien me pregunta en alguna ocasión, no lo recomendare para nada, sino todo lo contrario. Un saludo

Bien situé ds un hotel typiquement portugais. Petit déjeuner sur la terrasse face au port. Accueillant. Jolie terrasse en haut de l hôtel avc superbe vue.

La ubicación excelente. Lo malo que tiene el hotel, es pedir una cama extra qué es inadecuada para una habitación tan pequeña va muy justa y es muy incómoda

the room was extremely small and the beds very hard and uncomfortable. the bathroom was tiny, with the toilet on a raised area at the far end. you needed to sit at an angle because of the width of the room. the shower was a semi-circular base with shower curtain, again tiny.

Nous sommes allés en juin 2019. Bel établissement. Les chambres sont biens. L'insonorisation avec le couloir pas super. Le petit déjeuner assez bien aussi. La terrasse sur le toit est très agréable. L'emplacement de l'hotel très bien. Dans l'ensemble un bon séjour.

We had a wonderful stay! Paolo at reception was very congenial and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and simple but charming. Very good value! The location is amazing, as we were able to walk to the center and to restaurants. It was also a great value. We were so happy we stayed there and highly recommend.

This is a charming hotel with small rooms and outdated furnishings. They have two things working for them: 1) great location and 2) an exceptional desk staff. The Portuguese cotton sheets were also a big plus.

Fabulous! Walk up to our lovely room with a balcony- nice and quiet at the back of property and evening sun- also a rooftop patio we enjoyed. Breakfast was the best we had in Portugal including the wonderful pastries, cheese, ham but also croissants, bacon, eggs, yogurt, fruit. The location couldn’t be better, restaurant on the main floor and lots in the area. The gardens and beach ferry are across the front and the square is at the end of the block. Loved our time in Tavira and this hotel.

El hotel es un claro ejemplo de lo agradables que pueden llegar a ser los portugueses, excelente trato por parte del recepcionista, pero hay algo que no nos agradó, y es que ellos tienes unas puertas de cerámica pequeñas para vender a viajeros interesados, nosotros le pedimos a una de los recepcionistas una de ellas, y esta nos dijo que valían más de lo que nos dijo el otro recepcionista el día de después. Por todo lo demás, muy bien y abiertos a cualquier idioma, y las habitaciones cómodas y limpieza excepcional. Gracias.

A very interesting interior, lots of brickwork and tiles. Right on the riverside.The breakfast was adequate but nothing to write home about.

We stayed here one New Year's Eve. It's quaintly old fashioned with original features. The staff were friendly and helpful and for the price charged the rooms were good value. We enjoyed our short stay and would do it again. If you are looking for modern luxury then it's not for you but if it's a good deal you want then this is it, The rooms were clean and facilities good including free wi fi . I have read some reviews on here with people complaining about silly things like the TV being too small ....some people like to moan about anything and everything!! For me they give excellent value for money and I would happily stay there anytime. Lovely location overlooking the river.

(English below) Pasé una noche aquí con mi familia y fue una experiencia aceptable. La habitación y el baño eran de un buen tamaño y estaban limpios, y el balcón daba a la calle de atrás, muy tranquila. Es cierto que el mobiliario y otros detalles del hostal están bastante pasados de moda, a lo que no le di mucha importancia excepto por una ilustración de una "criada" en el cartel de No molestar que te dan para que lo cuelgues en la puerta y que parecía sacado de una peli de Pajares y Esteso, machista a rabiar. Por lo demás bien, la plantilla muy amable y atenta, nos dejaron guardar nuestro equipaje en una taquilla después del check out para que no tuviéramos que arrastrar las maletas por ahí. I spent a night here with my family and it was a decent experience. Room and bathroom were a good size and pretty clean as well. Our balcony faced a quiet backstreet. It is true that some aspects, such as furniture, are quite old fashioned yet I didn't mind except for an illustration of a maid on the "Do Not Disturb" sign for our door that looked straight out of a porno; the kind of thing that belongs in the past. Apart from that it was OK, staff was attentive and nice and they let us keep our luggage in a locker after checkout so that we didn't have to drag a bunch of cases around.

Dispone de todo lo que necesitas para hacer una visita a Tavira, las vistas dan al canal y se encuentra cerca del centro y del embarcadero lo que lo hace interesante si quieres ir a la isla. Lo peor es que resulta dificil aparcar cerca.

Fantastically friendly staff members. They did everything they could to accommodate my mother-in-law requests and queries about the town during our stay. Their location is great and near everything, but it is absolutely quiet and peaceful once you are inside. Never ever slept so well and woke up with such a great feeling. We absolutely loved it and highly recommend it.

Great service team, but the rooms are small and could use an upgrade. The TV is about the size of a PC monitor. The breakfast is nothing to write home about. There is free parking down the street a few hundred meters away. Also there is pay parking very close and some very eager parking attendants. The restaurant next to the hotel, same building was a very bad experience. We ordered the large grilled shrimp. They were extremely salty and very mushy. The head waiter was very nice but I don't want to elaborate on the "owner" and his attitude. The restaurant and the hotel part is operated or managed by two different entities. The two stars in this review reflects on the price quality ratio of the hotel. The restaurant gets only one star.

Hotel sencillo pero suficiente para pasar unos días. Si lo que buscas es sólo alojamiento es perfecto.

Buena elección para pasar unos días en Tavira. Buen precio, personal muy servicial y amable. Recomiendo una habitación con vistas al río. El ferry para Ilha do Tavira está justo al lado y hay un par de bolsas de aparcamiento muy cerca y gratuitas.

Empregadas do restaurante ignoram os clientes e demoram imenso tempo a atender. Além disso boa educação e simpatia é algo que está em falta!

Nous avons manger un bar de ligne griller pour 3 pers (2 adultes + 3 enfants). Il était bon, mais c'était super simple... 55 € le bar, servi avec quelques légumes a la vapeur qui était extrêmement fade. L'addition en revanche était beaucoup trop salée... 95€ (en plus du bar : 4 boissons et 1 bouteille de rosé) . Un attrape touristes pour résumer.

Très mauvais accueil. On vous force la main pour les commandes. Personnel très désagréable. Un viande immangeable pleine de nerfs et n'a pas été remplacé.

Lovely clean friendly place to stay. On the riverfront it's easy to get around the town. Great for the ferry and a short walk to the train station. Handy for pingo doce as well. Lidl next to train station. Would recommend. Comfortable beds too.

ein hotel, optimal gelegen am ufer des gilao, ruhig und mit einem wundervollen ausblick entweder über den fluß oder über die dächer der altstadt. gut ausgestattete zimmer mit kühlschrank, balkon und kleinen gut durchdachten badezimmern. ein reichhaltiges frühstück und ein sehr freundliches hotelpersonal, das bereit war, jeden extrawunsch zu erfüllen.

A very nice stay. We had second floor with river view, recommended. It was and old but good maintained building with a Portuguese atmosfer and style. A lot of Portuguese restaurante close by. No doubt, We stay here again.

Ein kleines, sauberes Hotel, für das wir pro Nacht/F 65€ bezahlten. Leider lag das Zimmer zum Meereskanal, darunter mehrere Wirtschaften/Kneipen. Wir würden dort, zumindest mit dieser Blickrichtung, nicht mehr nächtigen. Das Zimmer war sehr klein und einfach, das Frühstück war relativ gut. Das Hotel selbst ist von Innen betrachtet eine Augenweide.Zu empfehlen ein Ausflug zum Baden auf die Isla de Tavira, mit dem Schiff vor dem Hotel p.P. 1,90€ Retourticket. Die Ortschaft selbst ist wunderschön, auf beiden Seiten des Kanals.

Je me suis vu attribuer une chambre que lon ma dit être la dernière disponible et située au 1er étage et donnant sur une petite rue à larrière de lhôtel, autant dire assez sinistre. Par ailleurs hôtel aurait bien besoin dune bonne restauration, la dernière datant de 1994 suivant la plaquette publicitaire de lhôtel ....

Das Hotel liegt tatsächlich ideal, direkt am Bootsableger zum Strand und dicht zu allen Restaurants ( sehr schön Rive Gauche auf der anderen Flusseite). Allerdings bedeutet die Lage auch für alle flusseitigen Zimmer Lärm bis tief in die Nacht ( 3:00). Das Frühstück gibt dafür exakt zwischen 08.00-10:00 im Restaurant, wo man sehr beengt direkt an der Strasse sitzt ( mit kleinen Kindern sehr anstrengend). Der Kaffee war unglaublich schlecht und die verfaulten Kiwi standen mehrere Tage am Stück auf dem Buffet. Das große Zimmer erwies sich mit Kinderbettchen als nicht mehr frei begehbar. Der Roomservice beschränkt sich auf das Minimum. Beispielsweise wurde die gebrauchten Gläser über 6Tage nicht getauscht. Das Bad ist nicht neu, jedoch voll ausgestattet.Das Rezeptionspersonal war freundlich, aber leider nicht sehr gut informiert ( Strände, Touristenzug ).Auf der Dachterrasse sitzt es sich sehr nett ( gut für Reisende mit Kindern).Das Hotel liegt gut um Tavira zu erkunden. In der Hauptsaison stimmt leider das Preis-Leistung Verhältnis nicht.

A hotel with friendly staff. A "very" good breakfast for a 2 star hotel. Origional decor in the rooms, a nice roof terrace and a very good location. On the river close to most amenities; the market,restaurants, shops and only a 5mins.walk from the bus station.

hotel is very clean and the rooms are small and some beds are quite hard.hotel makes it clear that while the restaurant has the same owners they are not responsible and are not connected with it. it is not surprising as the restaurant is overpriced and food mediocre.
