La meilleure adresse culinaire sur mon voyage à Lisbonne. Le restaurant est très petit, on profite donc d'une ambiance conviviale. La carte est souvent renouvelée, très peu chargée (ce qui est gage de produits de bonne qualité et cuisinés), et on se régale réellement pour de petits prix.
Sur les photos, de la bière artisanale, suivie des plats :
- Pica-Pau (dé de thon rouge légèrement cuit)
- Lapin froid, toast, grenade
- Salade d'orange (inspiration arabique)
- Chips de patate douce
Arriver par contre en avance, ou réserver, car beaucoup le font pour s'assurer une place.

A must visit small restaurant. Try getting a reservation about a week earlier because it's almost always full. Waiter was really helpful and answered all our questions. Three plates should be enough for two people to share. Everything is really tasty and the service is fast! Great place to try out a mix of dishes and flavours. The restaurant's own beer is also really good!

Incredible food in a traditional tavern. The venue fills up very quickly: arrive early to avoid disappointment or book well in advance. It's totally worth it !!! I would give this place 10 stars, if I could

Tenho de dar 5 estrelas por uma conjugação de factores. Tudo o que provei, mesmo o que aprecio menos (como barriga de porco) estava muito bem confeccionado e saboroso. Éramos um grupo de 6 pessoas e o atendimento foi excelente, descontraído e profissional colocando-nos à vontade para continuar....muito à vontade. A repetir certamente. Não tenho fotos de comida... não fui a tempo de tirar ficam com o menu dessa noite..... e o digestivo

Genial. Der Koch ist ein Zauberer. Eigentlich sind sie zu dritt in ihrer Miniküche. Alles Köche, alles Meister. Die haben es echt drauf. Was wir probiert haben: Thunfisch... never ever so leckeren Thunfisch gegessen. Die Pommes dazu ein kleines Kunstwerk. Das Bier selbst gebraut ganz grosses Theater, leider nicht in bayerischen Biergläsern. Wir haben noch ein paar Tage in Lisboa und gehen wieder hin! Authentische Küche mit Herz. Kein Tourifood. Wenn ich 10 Sterne vergeben könnte, wären es 11

In the meats they have particular dishes though, so watch out for the translation before ordering.

A small and cute restaurant.. it fills up quickly, but it's worth the wait. They also have home made beer (yummy). We had the sting ray and sliced tune.. both dishes where amazing. Full off flavours. The customer service is great. The ambience is amazing.

We tried to come a few times but it's a small restaurant so fills up fast. But it was definitely worth the wait! The ox tail melts in your mouth and the tuna was excellent. They even brew their own beer which was very good. We've live in the area for a few months and this is definitely one of the best meals we've had! Best to message them on Facebook to book a table.

Super expérience culinaire. Des plats EXCELLENTS, un service vraiment sympa.
Nous avons pris de la morue confite, au top, du porc croustillant, des chips de peau de porc et langues de cabillaud, des mélanges de saveur géniaux et originaux.
Réservez avant d'y aller ou prenez le temps d'attendre car ça vaut vraiment le détour. Probablement la meilleure expérience culinaire lisboete à prix abordable.

Outstanding food. A must visit, but need to book for dinner as we only got in on a cancellation. Small portions to share were delightful, each around €8. We had chicken liver, tuna and pork belly, plus an orange salad all full of flavour.

Our waitor Pedro was so fantastic. He let us keep our luggage in the restaurant because we had just come from the airport, even though the place is quite small! He provided fantastic recommendations from the menu, including house wine and beer that he brewed himself in house. All the food was great, reasonably priced, and we ended with some complimentary almond liquor that was wonderful. We left having had a great time!
Highly recommend the bacalau croquettes, the tuna, the orange salad, and the sting ray! But truly, you can't go wrong. Highly recommend on your trip to Lisbon, and it was clear from the lines outside that it's quite the popular place!

Ce restaurant m'a mis en joie, merci aux cuisiniers, les plats sont d'une simplicité efficace tout autant que d'une grande finesse, (plat de raie fabuleux, bière maison délicate et fleurie..) , le lieu très agréable, l'équipe sympathique et attentive, merci, ce fut un régal!

Make sure you make a reservation! There's a reason why this place is always fully booked. The service is amazing and the food even better.
We had the, pickled quail, oxtail, cod fish and orange salad. After our dinner I ended up with 5 bottles of liquor digestives for "tasting".
Then booked a rezo for later that week!

This restaurant is an absolute delight! We tried the octopus, swordfish and pork belly. All the dishes were perfectly seasoned, fish accompanied with roasted potatoes and the pork belly with pea shoots. The gentleman who hosted us was lovely, welcoming and incredibly friendly. He was more than happy to converse with us in English, which was very helpful and to make recommendations. The restaurant itself is quite small, so seats get filled quickly, a lot of people were turned away. I'd suggest booking in advance for a taste of local portugese food.

I want to preface this review by saying this place is a taberna or a tavern. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they specialize in drinks. I had an amazing cheap clementine witbier here.
The food however was overpriced and subpar. I had the tuna that someone else highly recommended, and I did enjoy the spices and vinaigrette used. However, it was ridiculously salty. That said, it was not as salty as the oxtail which was so bad I couldn’t even finish it. Later, I saw one of the staff get more of the oxtail out of a plastic refrigerated container to plate it. The problem with stewing meat in sauce overnight is the saltiness compounds. It might taste OK when you’ve had five beers, but it was unbearable sober, and the flavoring was unoriginal. 90% salt, the rest probably pepper. The flavor had no depth.
Also they charged my card twice, and I’m still in the process of getting the overcharged money back.

Muita variedade e qualidade nos pratos. Mas não acho adequado chamar de taverna um restaurante gourmet. Comida boa, mas acho que falta clareza no conceito de "comida para partilhar". As porções dos petiscos são para uma pessoa e não há opção de pratos maiores...o resto não há defeito, mas pra evitar maus entendidos podíamos chamar as coisas pelo nome. Não há nada de cotidiano no local, eu diria até que é um sítio pra esperimentar coisas novas. A cerveja, feita por eles próprios, é muito boa e o refrigerante tb. Uma sugestão seria aumentarem as porções.Não me importaria de pagar um pouco mais para comer uma porção maior.

Exceptionnel !! Vous ne pouvez pas partir de Lisbonne sans avoir mangé dans ce restaurant. Nous avons mangé:
- Poulet rôti (roasted chicken)
- Salade ( salada de cresson, orange et oignon)
- Raie
- French fries
Et le patron nous a offert un petit digestif à la fin. C’etait Divin !!! D.I.V.I.N !
Petit conseil, il faut arriver dès l’ouverture à 20h pétante !! Nous sommes arrivés à 20h15, nous avons eu la chance d avoir la dernière table de disponible. Le restaurant était complet. Temps d’attente pour les retardataires: 1h30 à 2h...il ne faut pas se décourager, ça vaut le coup d attendre !!

What an amazing experience! Make sure to book ahead (you can do this through their website/Facebook page - there was a queue of 6 groups at opening, many who hadnth booked unfortunately got turned away) - the food was spectacular, the pork cheeks / oftopus in particular were amazing. Service was equally excellent, very friendly and personable - explained the variety on menu. Highly recommended! A must in Lisbon.

사실 포르투갈에서 대구는 이미 너무 많이 먹어서 다른거 추천해달라고 해서 가오리 주문 했는데 꽤 맛있었어요! 제가 갔을땐 동양인 자체가 저 뿐이더라구요
추천합니다! 그런데 와인 1/4먹었는데 계산서에 1/2로 찍혀서 가격이 더 나왔어요. 말씀드리니 바로 바꿔주셨어요.

With no exaggeration, Sal Grosso served the best meal I’ve had in MY LIFE. I will never forget the diced tuna or the Lisboan version of purple drank that they served as an after dinner digestif. A happy little spot and a nice feeling of being on the inside looking out while traveling.

Io e la mia ragazza CELIACA siamo stati in questo ristorante una domenica sera. Abbiamo scoperto il locale grazie al consiglio d'un barista dopo alcuni drink; senza indicazioni non l'avremmo mai trovato! Il posto è decisamente nascosto e l'aspetto può ingannare! Una vecchia bettola inserita in uno scantinato, pochi tavoli raffazzonati, arredamento decisamente decadente, servizi e struttura da brivido... Personalmente è il tipo di posto che fa per me! Arriviamo senza prenotazione ed un simpaticissimo cameriere ci accoglie, ci trova un posto a sedere (che poi cambieremo per render loro più facile il servizio!) e non trova problemi nel fatto che la mia fidanzata sia CELIACA. Siamo esaltati e invitiamo il cameriere a farci lui il menù specificando ancora il fatto che debba essere senza glutine. Semplicemente eccezionale! Mangiamo sogliola, tonno, coda di bue, riso alle vongole e crostacei e per finire il pesce del giorno (baccalà). Tutto a dir poco eccezionale. Io bevo una birra, artigianale fatta da loro (la sconsiglio, se qualcuno ha dimestichezza si tratta del tipo di birre in stile Cooper che si fa con i preparati; troppo fermentata, non ho avuto un piacevole post), la mia morosa solo acqua. Unica nota negativa è che la porta si apriva dall'interno ed ogni volta che arrivavano degli avventori, oltre al disturbo de doverci alzare per aprirgli (cosa simpatica all'inizio, ma poi che palle!) arrivavano delle ventate d'aria glaciale. Non fosse per il posto troppi trascurati avrebbe un 5 stelle.

No puedo valorar la comida porque no pudimos cenar. La gestion pésima. Nos dijeron que en 30 a 40 minutos teniamos mesa y a la hora y media nos tuvimos que ir sin cenar. El local pequeño e incomodo. Las sillas son banquetas. No hay barra ni espacio para tomar algo mientras esperas. Hay que estar en la calle. Tomadura de pelo de sitio.

Sensacional.
O salão mais intimista, atendimento cordial e com a vista de toda a equipe trabalhando na cozinha. O Daniel e o Zé são super simpáticos e explicam com amor os detalhes de cada prato. Atendimento ótimo.
A cerveja da casa é incrível, pastel de bacalhau frito na hora também, assim como diversos pratos em porções pequenas pra compartilhar. Vale a pena reservar antes de ir.

Como uma Taberna deve ser, um dono que se envolve com os clientes durante toda a refeição. A comida é para partilhar, pratos para acompanhar com bom vinho. As porções são bem recheadas e generosas, a comida é servida rapidamente e o ambiente do restaurante é excelente. Não posso salientar mais a alegria que este lugar transmite. Local pequeño (literalmente 4 mesas) y siempre hasta arriba. Imprescindible apuntarse en la lista de espera. Carta relativamente pequeña pero está todo buenísimo, las bebidas son todas artesanales (no hay refrescos) y los platos de cocina tradicional. Muy buena relación calidad-precio, 3 platos a compartir entre 2 personas quedas satisfecho. Destacable el bacalao confitado y el frango (increíbles)

Wir waren mit vorheriger reservierung hier. Sonst wird es echt schwer einen tisch zu bekommen oder nur mit wartezeit von 1,5 stunden. Aus der karte an der tafel kann man sich sein essen quasi selbst zusammenstellen aus fisch, fleisch und beilagen. Qualität und geschmack haben uns gut gefallen. Auch die bewirtung sorgte für einen gelungenen abend.

Énorme coup de cœur pour ce restaurant !
Intimiste, seulement quelques tables, des couverts dépareillés, une déco très simple et une carte sur une grande ardoise, tout est très simple et chaleureux à l'image du patron. C'est au moment de passer à table que la magie opère : les plats sont tout bonnement fantastiques ! J'ai rarement aussi bien mangé, tout est savoureux à tel point qu'on a envie de goûter tout ce qu'il y a sur la carte.

Fantastic food, small plates that take your tastebuds in all directions. A choice of meat & fish dishes. Also a great atmosphere with everyone sitting close to each other and an open kitchen. Lugar pequeño pero con un personal excepcional, muy amable y agradable. Comida riquísima. Recomendable pedir al menos tres platos para compartir entre dos. Cervezas artesanas y de postre licores gesto de la casa. Muy recomendable.

Went to this place as had very good reviews and was very busy. We were told to come back in 1 hour, and when we did they still did not have a table for us and dismissed us. Waiter was very rude.

Um sítio que estava na minha lista do Must go faz anos. Finalmente fui e não me arrependo nem um bocado. Acomoda estava fantástica e a cerveja da casa divinal. O espaço e super pequeno e convida a sentar numa mesa de estranhos. E melhor reservar lugar senão vai ter de esperar.

Siamo stati in questo piccolo ristorante dopo aver letto su TripAdvisor della sua particolarità.
Siamo arrivati sprovvisti sul posto verso le 21.30,. Bisognava passare prima a lasciare il nome ed aspettare in media 1 ora e mezza(era domenica) ma per fortuna in 20 minuti si sono liberati diversi tavoli e così ci siamo seduti. Consiglio comunque sempre di andare con anticipo sull' orario della vostra cena. In questo ristorante c'è una sola regola, bisogna dividere tutto, non ci sono piatti da mangiare singolarmente. Ma sono tutti uno più buono dell' altro, in particolar modo il tonno e il baccalà! Fanno anche la birra, una buona blanche. Hanno anche la sangria. I dolci non ci hanno entusiasmato come i primi ma non erano cattivi. Il personale e giovane e molto simpatico, ti mettono subito a tuo agio e ti trattano con simpatia e gentilezza.
Infine il prezzo, 20 euro a testa per avere mangiato piatti così ricercati e buoni non e tanto assolutamente.

One of the best food experience in Lisbone. We ordered about 8 dishes to share for 3 peeson. All was fantastic- fish of the week, tomato and fig salad, orange salat, cod, rabbit. Very friendly and full of sense of humour stuff. They gave us wine for free at the end

Very cosy small restaurant with the best food and staff in Lisbon. I recommend making a reservation since seats are limited and the place is very popular. But even when you have to wait an hour outside for your table
(accompanied by a nice homemade beer or glass of wine) it’s totally worth it! After we finished our dinner the staff let us try some good liquors as well which totally completed this experience. Once again, a must-visit in Lisbon.

Fantastic option for a tapas-style meal - the waiters are fantastic and the food is reasonably priced and delicious. Few tips: (i) book in advance, you could get lucky but it's a tiny restaurant and gets full very quickly! (ii) you can book lunch as well, which might be a better way of securing a spot; (iii) Monday isn't the best day to visit the restaurant due to it being the fisherman's day-off, so there's fewer fish options (the meat's still great though!!)

Posto piccolino, quando arrivi se non ha posto vieni inserito in una lista di fila, abbiamo dovuto aspettare un oretta ma siano andati nei vicoletti lí intorno a visitare il quartiere. Una volta seduti abbiamo preso un piatto di razza con verdure, una dadolata di tonno, un insalata con pomodoro prosciutto e cipolle ed infine uno stufatino di maiale super saporito. Tutti i piatti squisiti, con un gusto particolare. Mezzo litro di vino, un acqua e un caffè e 2 dolci, con una spesa totale di 39 euro. Infine ci son stati fatti assaggiare diversi liquori, dalla ginjigha a una grappa con peperoncino e altro. Ottimo

What an amazing meal! We had the pork belly, bacalhau bras, orange salad and clam rice for mains, followed by the lemon mousse for dessert. They were all beautiful presented dishes and very very tasty.
The house wine was great and the licors at the end were a perfect way to top off the meal.
The only thing I’d say is that it gets warm in here in the heat of a summer day
Highly recommend this place. Make sure you book in advance!

Assolutamente da provare! Tra i pezzi più bassi che ci sono in giro e il cibo tra i migliori che abbia provato a Lisbona, baccalá confit il migliore che abbia assaggiato! Il posto è piccolo ma molto carino, per avere un posto sicuro bisogna prenotare! Il personale molto gentile e amichevole. Noi eravamo in due non abbiamo prenotato e ci ha messo il turno successivo (alle 9:45) ci ha fatto un po aspettare fuori ma in conpenso ci ha offerto birra e aperitivi gratis!

Super nice restaurant, very few places (27) but very authentic. The staff is super friendly and the food just delicious. Hard to decide with what to start, my favorite were the Tuna dices, but all the other plates we tasted are to be recommended. Hope it stays like this for a while, I absolutely recommend!

This is a small hidden gem, discretely hidden around a corner. There are only a few tables and just a menu on the wall. Chef / owner is super nice and the food is just good comfort home cooking. The pork belly and salt cod were exceptional, as was the ox tail. Just amazing.

This small (5 table) place is a hidden gem and if you pass by it you would miss it completely. Once you are given a table (which can take up to two hours) you can taste great simple and complex dishes made with fresh ingredients. The staff is super friendly and they craft they’re own beer. Definitely recommended if you are visiting Lisboa, but plan the wait, because they don’t take reservations.

Cercana al Museo Militar de Lisboa y la Estación de Santa Apolonia a menos de un minuto andando.
Relación calidad-precio increíble, muy recomendada la ensalada de naranja y el bacalao confitado, el pato también es genial nos quedamos con muchas ganas de probar más platos.
El espacio es muy reducido al ser una pequeña taberna. Es recomendable realizar una reserva previa con anterioridad.

I visited a lot of restaurants across the world and my experience at the taverna Sa Grosso was definitely one of the best ones. The space is small and cosy, the service sweet and with lot of good intentions and last but not least... the food <3 . Its tasty and sophisticated. The products are really good quality and the chefs know exactly how to sublime the taste. Big applause on the chocolate mousse for example who is the best I've ever had. Definitely the place to go in Lisbon.

Péssima experiência! Ontem desloquei-me a este local para jantar, cheguei as 20h20 (abre às 20h), porta fechada, restaurante cheio e bato à porta mas ninguém vem... Um cliente sentado perto da entrada fez-me sinal para esperar e espero 5 minutos até vir um empregado abrir a porta e com toda a arrogância do mundo, perguntar o que é que eu queria... Pergunto-lhe se tem mesa para dois e diz-me que estão cheios, só daqui a hora e meia... Faço então o comentário se é melhor ligar para reservar para outro dia e diz-me que não têm telefone há 3 anos, reservas só pelo Facebook ou e-mail! Por fim, sabendo que existia outro restaurante dos mesmos donos perto, pergunto se esse tal outro restaurante eventualmente teria disponibilidade de mesa ou se teria o mesmo "problema" (estar cheio) e aí ainda com mais arrogância interroga-me: qual problema??? O poder estar cheio, digo-lhe eu... Isso para nós não é um problema!!! E volta a repetir "Isso não é um problema...". Digo-lhe que está a ser extremamente desagradável e que não são maneiras de tratar os clientes e venho-me embora com a certeza de que este é um sítio que não mais voltarei e aconselho a todos a fazer o mesmo, sabem porquê? Não precisam, estão sempre cheios... Talvez um dia precisem...

Jedzenie ok, ale w przeciętnym polskim domu zjesz podobnie jak nie lepiej. Zaraz, stop. Zjesz zdecydowanie lepiej. A więc kończąc - marnuj czas czekając i będąc poniżanym (chyba że dokonałeś wcześniejszej rezerwacji) lub idź zjeść tłuściej, może i mniej smacznie ale na pewno bardziej gościnnie... Very good food all around. We were lucky it was a rainy cool night when we went because otherwise, we would have not been able to get in since there are only a few tables and you cannot make reservations. I had the roasted chicken and pork dishes which were both great. The fries were decent but you can do without. The chocolate mousse dessert is a must have! Save room for it.

Muy recomendable! Un sitio muy discreto en la Alfama. En días de jaleo es imprescindible reservar. Los platos están apuntados en una pizarra y avisan al principio si hay alguno que no está en carta. Relación calidad-precio muy buena, en mi opinión y el personal es rápido y amable. Queríamos probar el tartar de atun, pero no había así que pedimos -para 2 pax- rabo de toro, pato escabechado, balacalao confitado y patatas fritas para acompañar. De postre, mousse de limón. Todo riquísimo!! Sobre todo el bacalao.

Went here for lunch. Had some difficulties to get in as the door was closed and couldn't open it from the outside. You had to get the attention of the stuff to let you inside. Very small quaint place. The waiter was friendly and explained the food and drink menu to us which was listed on the board. We picked the pickled rabbit, the diced tuna, cod a bras and migas ole broa. For dessert lemon mousse and cinnamon rice pudding. Food was very tasty and fresh. For drinks we had house white wine and home brewed beer.

Es un excelente lugar. Un poco más caro de lo que me imaginé pero está bien para los platos que te dan, son deliciosos. La noche que fuimos nos anotaron en una lista de espera a las 8 de la noche y nos pidieron que regresemos en 1 hora, así que regresamos y no esperamos mucho antes de que nos atiendan. Siempre está con muchas personas y no se puede reservar mesas ni nada. Lo más rico que comimos fue el rabo de buey, pero me quede con ganas de probar el lenguado de bacalao que se veia delicioso. Hay que pedir entre dos personas unos 4 platos. El postre que pedimos era un mouse de limón espectacular. El postre de cerveza no me gusto mucho. Tienen su propia cerveza de trigo que está muy bien. Las patatas fritas también están deliciosas. La atención es muy buena, nos quedamos hasta el final y disfrutamos mucho en el sitio.

Il cibo e il conto sarebbero anche buoni, ma la maleducazione del cameriere che ci ha "accolti" è stato qualcosa da far girare i tacchi e andare via.
Arrivi e trovi il locale con la porta chiusa, provi ad aprire la porta e ti ritrovi un cameriere che con molta calma viene ad aprirti urlandoti che non bisogna sbattere sulla porta.
Per concludere in bellezza non ci ha calcolati minimamente durante tutta la cena e ci ha salutati in malo modo all'uscita.

Un acierto total, el camarero ya desde que nos acomodó nos explicó detenidamente la carta y nos hizo sugerencias. El único inconveniente es que siempre está lleno por lo que es recomendable ir bastante temprano, al ser un sitio pequeño se llena fácilmente. El bacalao confitado estupendo, el hígado de pato genial y el flan de cerveza increíble.

Que gran sorpresa de restaurante, y eso que ibamos sobre aviso!! El personal muy amable, nos dió la impresión de estar entre amigos. La comida nos gustó mucho, probamos casi todos los platos. Siamo stati in questo ristorante solo una volta a cena (lunedì). Non siamo riusciti a prenotare ma abbiamo trovato comunque un tavolo (condiviso) aspettando solo 15 minuti. Locale piccolo con menu scritto su una parete. Prezzi medio-bassi e porzioni normali. Ad esempio, noi abbiamo preso in due:
-Baccalà confitado 9,5€ (doveroso da ordinare)
-Pancetta affumicata 8€ ( saporitissima e gustosa)
-Tonno scottato 8,5€ (ottimo ma gli altri piatti ancora di più)
-Patatine fritte 3€ ( abbondanti e buonissime)
-Acqua 1,5€
Tendenzialmente i piatti non superano i 10€ e sono davvero molto molto buoni. Abbiamo provato circa 6/7 ristoranti Lisbonesi e per noi, questo è il migliore o tra i migliori (abbiamo un po’ di conflitti eheh). Non ci sono molti coperti nel locale e il bagno è molto piccolo e “spartano” ma sicuramente è un posto da provare e tappa fissa nel tour lisbonese. Consigliate prenotazione se riuscite. Se siete più di 8 persone forse è un po’ faticoso trovare posto ma controllate.

Dit moet zeker een van de lekkerste en gezelligste restaurantjes va Lissabon zijn! Je moet hier wel zeker op voorhand reserveren. Wij deden het niet en hadden wel geluk omdat er een tafel van 8 nog vrij was. We konden deze delen met de 6 andere mensen die bij openingstijd ook stonden aan te schuiven .
Het concept is shared dining.
Ook zeer goede prijs!

Um dos meus locais prediletos para petiscar em Lisboa. Excelente relação qualidade/preço e muita simpatia no atendimento. A localização junto à Estação de Santa Apolónia é também outra razão a considerar.

Small pub-like restaurant in the hilly parts of Lisbon.
Expect a waiting time (although we were told we would have to wait 1h30 minutes for a table, we got one after 20 minutes!)
Unfortunately, most of the things we wanted to try were sold out but that still did not ruin the experience.
The service is very attentive however, food might take a while to come out as we only witnessed one server on shift during a busy time.
You MUST try the cod on a bed of lotus seeds: Very tender with all sorts of textures: crunchy from the lotus seeds, fall apart tender from the cod.
The orange salad was perfect as well! Great element of acidity that went well with the cod.
Nothing special in the sweet potato chips - you can definitely do without it. Please avoid the Sangria too - not the best.
Overall a great dining experience and I would definitely go back!

Absolutely fantastic, probably the best meal i had in Lisbon. The oxtail was great, fall off the bone tender, the stingray was so well balanced and delicious, the stout flan was also a good way to end the night, also all the beer was brewed by them and I must say it was one of the many highlights of the evening. Make sure to set a reservation if you want to go. Oh and the staff was funny, charming, and very attentive! Expect to pay about 30-40 € a person if you are a glutton like me.

Very popular place, and with some reason. Unfortunately we were tremendously unimpressed with the service (it’s not good service hitting on the ladies in the party and sitting down at their table - especially not on a date) and the food was by no means outstanding enough to warrant the reservation and wait time compared to other street meals we had in Lisbon.
Forget about dessert options here- we tried the beer pudding and pastry esq dessert options they had our night here and were very disappointed.
Go if you want to experience it.
Do not go for a date, if you have beautiful women in your party, or want good service and a proper meal.

Incredible. My favourite place in Lisbon by far. Everything was great. Staff is friendly and speaks English, menu in English too, all the dishes no matter if salad, fish, meat or dessert. It is tiny though, be there early or sign for waiting for a table to be free.

We were told that to get a table would take 1.5-2 hours. We did wait for this long, because people raved about this place, and we lived not too far. It was good food; the ambience was first class; but I’m not sure if it is worth a 90-120 min wait...
We had the ox tail, codfish cake, roasted chicken, diced tuna, and orange salad. The best part of each of these items are invariably their sauces/dressings. The ox tail has a fragrant red wine sauce; chicken, black pepper sauce; tuna has a garlic butter sauce. The missing piece is in my opinion the quality of the raw ingredients - they are just not what you would expect in a place with such good reputation and amazing culinary skills.
Pedro is amazing. We were the last customers he entertained. He chatted with us, even changed the music for our sake. It seemed like he thoroughly enjoyed running the place, and his down to Earth manner made an impression.

Food was delicious but the waiting time and the way the waitress managed that wasn't great. We arrived without a booking and asked if we could get a table for 4. We didn't mind waiting a bit and were told to come back in 40-50. We came back in 50 worrying we didn't wait to miss the booking but we had to wait another 50m...But no one told us how was going to be. They could have just managed that waiting system better. We have waiting list even in England but no way you'd not be able to know how long or not be able to serve a drink to the guest waiting...Whilst we waited 50m, 4 other tables sat there having finished their food just chatting...Everyone thought that was very disrespectful since the restaurant accepted other bookings...There were also table for 4 with 2 people sitting only...Once we sat we thought we could enjoy the meal without rush but no we were rushed as they needed to close the kitchen in 15m....Good food but bad management. If restaurateurs used a better system they would serve more people, get more money and make people happier in the process.

My expectations were high given how good the reviews were, but this food was honestly delicious!
I had stingray with orange salad, and it was cooked to perfection, well seasoned, and served with a delicious sauce. On top of that, the home-brewed beer is also fantastic!

The best restaurant we ate in Portugal! By far. Small authentic place at the edge of Alfama region.
Amazing versions of local dishes by the place team. Fresh ingredients, smart use of spices, very accurate. Everything we tried was just perfect...duck liver, ox tail, orange salad, figs and green (!!!) Tommatos salad, octopus. Even the chickpeas cake, yes!!, was amazing. It goes without saying that service was very good and efficient. Go Go Go!!!

No puedo valorar la comida pk no pude degustarla. Por el contrario mi experiencia fue desagradable ya que reserve personalmente, in situ en el lugar a las 21.00 realizando reserva a las 22.00. Para mi sorpresa, cuando llegue a la hora indicada, el servicio me dice que no hacen reservas. A posteriori nos esperamos 30min, que fue lo que nos dijeron. Pero a las 22.45 nada D nada. Servicio nefasto.

Incredible food and lovely staff. I HIGHLY recommend this place and if there is a wait just do it, it is well worth it. Also they have the most amazing duck liver which melts in your mouth like butter. Definitely a must when you are in Lisbon. Caratteristico ristorante al centro di Lisbona. Ambiente piccolino stile “tavernetta” con una ventina di coperti, per cui consiglio di prenotare oppure si rischia di attendere all’esterno. Cibo ottimo, dal pesce alla carne, piatti molto creativi e pieni di sapori unici. Porzioni piccoline di fatti il cameriere mi ha consigliato di prendere più porzioni.. in questo modo si ha la possibilità di assaggiare molte pietanze. Consiglio di passarci

Les plats sont bons et différents de la cuisine traditionnelle Portugaise mais il faut prendre au moins 2 plats par personne car les parts représentent la valeur d'une entrée. L'addition est assez élevée pour le Portugal : 45 € pour 2, sans entrée, sans dessert et sans café mais avec 1/2 carafe de vin et 1/2 litre d'eau.

Amazing! We came back twice during our stay on Lisbon. It was the best meal we've bad during our trip. It was surprisingly very affordable for the quality of food. Highly recommend making reservations. The restaurant is very small. The first night we waited 2hrs because we had no resos. The cod croquettes, pork belly, oxtail were some of my favourite dishes. Really authentic and amazing food! The server was also very personable and provided outstanding service.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! Don’t judge it from the appearance: it’s a small and hidden place, but authentic. The food is amazing: we had a total of 7 dishes, all amazingly fresh and homemade. The quality is really good and the prices are very reasonable. The place is clean and the staff is super friendly. A big thank you to Pedro, who made us feel like at home! ps: piece of advise: it’s better to book a table in advance, because the restaurant is fully booked many days in advance (especially boomed from local people).

Absolutely incredible. When I asked the person I thought to be the chef if he was, indeed, that person, he said, “There are no chefs here. Just those that love their work.” They treated us well. I asked for his favorite dish as part of our order and it was a cubed, sauced version of ahi tuna that was my favorite of the night. The oxtail was like great pot roast but better. The pan fried black pork came with yet another sauce that made it perfect. The pork belly was also incredible. I asked for his favorite dessert and got a custardy cake- I never found out the name. My wife said, “No way to eat here tomorrow is there?”

Ottimo cibo ad un buon prezzo. Noi abbiamo diviso in due quattro piatti: baccalà confit, pancia di maiale fritta, seppia e chips di patate dolci. Con due birre e due dolci abbiamo pagato 43,50€. Buonissimo tutto, meno i dolci, servizio ottimo. Consigliato!

My favourite place to eat good traditional Portuguese food. I visit it every time I'm in Lisbon. You might have to book a table couple of days in advance since the place is really small. But It's totally worth it. I recommend you try their pickled rabbit.

Ein kleines Restaurant inmitten von Alfama. Von außen unscheinbar, doch nahezu durchgehend brechend voll - wir mussten uns auf die Warteliste setzen und warten, bis schließlich ein Platz frei wurde. Das Essen war kreativ und super lecker. Ebenfalls positiv anzumerken ist das schöne Lokal - klein und urig, etwas dunkel. Wenig gefallen hat mir, dass das Restaurant keine Softgetränke anbietet - keine Cola, keine Fanta - nichts, nur Wasser und alkoholische Getränke. Das finde ich sehr kundenunfreundlich, vor allem für Kinder, oder welche, die keinen Alkohol trinken - die müssen dann auf Wasser zurückgreifen. Außerdem gab es Probleme mit dem Service: wir mussten zwei Mal Bescheid geben, bis wir nach langem Warten endlich unser Wasser erhielten. Zudem wurden uns nach dem Bezahlen etwa 2€ zu wenig zurückgegeben - das geht meiner Meinung nach überhaupt nicht!

Taberna Sal Grosso is a must-visit if you are staying in Lisbon/Alfama. This is fine dining at a price that won't break the bank. Each dish we ate was better than the next...we enjoyed salted codfish, oxtail, stir fried pork, stingray, and fries, and washed it down with a pitcher of wine for around 50 euros. Expect a wait of an hour or more...but that is fine! Go grab a drink around the corner and come back, you won't regret it. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is friendly, the food is to die for, the entire experience is memorable. I did not eat at a better place my entire trip to Portugal, Madrid, and Morocco. 5 stars, don't miss out on this place.

In Lisbon this is the place to be if you arserious about food. You definitely need a reservation uand it is difficult to get. There are only 7 tables.the restaurant is located in a non-descript building with A very small sign.The menu changes daily. You should order at least 8 dishes between 4 people. With wine coffee and deserts the cost was 84 euro. I’ll say no more about the food. Just go and judge for yourselves. The food is serious!!’

I am glad we arrived a few minutes before the restaurant opened, so we were sure to have a seat, although some places were reserved already. Within 20 minutes the tiny, cosy restaurant didn’t have any seats available anymore, and we can definitely see why. The host was super friendly and the food was different from the standard, plain meals you see in other places. It was like visiting the host in his own house. In short: great atmosphere, great food, we’d definitely recommend this place!

Classic Portuguese food with a modern Taberna twist. Great food to chose from the chalkboard. Always recommend the house bacalhau and anything that's unusual. Beware because it's very small and you will wait in line for sure. But it's worth the effort.

Pas du tout déçus. Cuisine délicieuse qui propose des plats à partager, nous avons pris de la queue de boeuf et du bacalhau confit ainsi qu'une salade de figues et tout était parfait. Seul inconvénient le peu de place proposées mais nous n'avons pas eu à attendre. Et ne ratez pas l'entrée !

A one-of-a-kind dining experience! Make sure you make a reservation or be prepared to dine late because the operation is small yet the demand is high. Pedro will likely welcome you at the door and wear many hats throughout the evening. He cooks, buses, and takes the orders for every table, yet somehow still finds time to stop for a quick chat and make you feel right at home. He also brews his own beer and all three styles offered were excellent. We were having a blast before the food even came! And then we ate... WOW. Every dish was excellent; totally unique and exploding with flavor. You’ll want to hug Pedro by the end of the meal! If you have the chance, you must dine at Taberna Sal Grosso. You won’t regret it :)

Simply one of the best meals I had the pleasure of eating in Lisbon. We were a group of five (four adults and a toddler). They rustled up a plain version of their chicken dish for the young group member (which was most appreciated). Other than that we pretty much tried whatever was available on the menu. Each dish was better than the previous one. The service was amazing and the "personal" feel of walking through each dish was great. Portions were on the smaller side, but we were informed well in advance of that. The whole set-up was more of a "tapas" / "meze" or sharing menu style meal. The ox tail was super soft and succulent, the smoked pork belly was that great that we reordered, the black pig was also great. In general I couldn't say something bad if I tried.

Piccolo ristorantino nel centro di Lisbona. Accogliente, con un menu ristretto ma di grande qualità e fantasia. Meglio prenotare o arrivare presto altrimenti si rischia di attendere fuori della porta. Piatti piccoli con la giusta quantità per assaporare la fantasia dello chef. Suggerisco le birre artigianali che fanno loro in casa. Se cercate qualcosa fuori del comune e non siete in tanti, questo posto è l'ideale.

A really nice gastronomic experience. This is a tapas restaurant for slow food enjoyment. Options are creative and dishes are well presented, we really enjoyed the food and overall experience. Reservation is pretty much mandatory as the space is super tiny. (Cod and black pork are recommended!)

It was the last night of our two week trip in Europe and we were recommended to try this restaurant from our bike guide. We were pleasantly surprised that we could get a reservation (you must message them on FB) as we heard it is often booked up days in advanced. Wow, what a delicious meal and experience we had. Every different type of house brewed beer was incredible. The brewer (and I’m guessing owner of the restaurant) went above and beyond making sure we enjoyed our experience. Despite it being a small space, we never felt rushed out. Thank you for the perfect meal to end our trip!
