This place will rip you off if you are a tourist. I was shocked when I received the bill. If the 6 euro pints of the cheapest beer in Lisbon (2 or 3 euros everywhere else) wasn't enough, some of the items were blatantly marked up from the menu with the hope that I wouldn't be able to read the bill and would pay whatever they put in front of me. They will lie to you when you ask for prices of things and lie to you again when you try to correct the bill. The service was also extremely slow; we were one of a only 2 or 3 tables in the restaurant with people, and it took approximately 40 minutes to prepare basic items (which actually makes sense when you consider they want you to keep buying their 6 euro pints of Sagres so they keep you there as long as possible). Nothing is complimentary either, be prepared to pay 4 euros for a couple of pieces of bread. This restaurant is run by cheats who will leave a bad taste in your mouth (and not just from the mediocre food they serve).

Staff bastante agradavel, comida boa e bebida ainda melhor.... Cartuxa sem duvida um grande vinho...fado excelente.

Excelente! Tasquita muy agradable con platos típicos de calidad con una atención estupenda. Personal muy atento y amable. El ambiente, la luz tenue y unos fadistas magnificos te ofrecen una velada alucinante. Visita obligada en Barrio Alto!

Pequeño local muy acojedor y con una atencion excelente, aunque vastante caro, en el que se puede disfrutar de buen vino mientras disfrutas de los tradicionales Fados portugueses en directo. No conocemos su comida, pero si no te inporta gastar, és un buen lugar donde caer si visitas Lisboa.

Had dinner here on Christmas because there were few options open in the city. Nice staff, but they definitely were focused on encouraging us to purchase more apps, drinks, desserts, etc...it became a bit exhausting after a while.
It’s a small place, but the live Fado music was nice.
Had the garlic shrimp as appetizers...way too salty for my liking. I was also really excited about the grilled octopus but it was extremely oily.
Would not return again, there’s so many other restaurants to try in Lisbon.

It's a great place in Bairro Alto to eat and listen to Fado. Everyone is very friendly and the food is delicious! Definitely recommend.

Seems nice to the start with friendly staff. I chooses cheap dishes by a reason, after we ordered the waiter asked if he can bring us some starter with cheese as normal and of we accepted, only thing then that became to most expensive thing on our bill!!! Not nice, terrible music that was told it will be "traditional Portuguese music" but they should have informed us that it will actually be some kind of screaming opera. Not nice surprise! Will never put my foot in here again! Restaurant should give better expectations when you enter and tell that the starter they "offer" you, will be charged!!!

Expensive drinks. Mediocre food. Great music. And duplicitous tactics for bringing you expensive appetizers. They also don't take credit card.
I wanted to like this place, I truly did. The staff is very nice seeming, but honestly I just felt deceived. I ordered a lamb meal, which ended up being mostly bones and chewy meat in a lot or grease.
After I ordered that, my waiter said "we give you a starter of cheese and olives usually" I just kind of nodded and said okay. He brought out a cheese board for just myself and a bread basket that I didn't even touch and yet they charged me 12€, the same price for my meal.
The only real gem of this place was the live music. The musicians and singers were great and it felt very intimate.

Una trappola per turisti. Non accettano carte di credito ma non vi avvisano all'ingresso. I prezzi sono molto più cari della media (1/2 lt d'acqua 4 euro ed una sangria 20 euro). La qualità del cibo è mediocre ma soprattutto vi servono un piatto di formaggi come entries senza precisare che costa 12 euro. Sono da tre settimane in Portogallo e questo è il peggior posto in cui abbia mai mangiato. Lo sconsiglio vivamente per evitare di essere truffati.

A very nice place. From the street seems small, but it has its beauty - you sit very close to the artists, and it's extremely cozy! The artists have great voices. The stuff is very nice and polite. You feel well taken care of. The food - very good. We tried bacalhao and fish of the day and can recommend it to anyone. Everything was fresh and tasty.

First evening they played fado music, very beautiful! Very kind hosts, especially the bartender is super friendly and chilled!
Came back the last night of our stay. Definitely go there to get some drinks and have a good chat :)!

We came after dinner to drink sangria and listen to some Fado, so I don't know about the food taste, but it sure looks good !
The service is good, the waiters are very kind.
If you're looking to enjoy some local Fado music with a nice and warm environment, this is the place for you.

Have been living in Lisbon for a while now, and this is by far the worst place I have ever been. Quite expensive in comparison to other restaurants in Bairro Alto, and the food was abysmal. The beef and smoked ham were drowning in fat, and the lamb consisted of bones with some meat glued to it, which was tougher to chew and swallow than chewing gum. Terrible
Only the Fado was sort of nice.

El lugar es pequeño pero bonito y acogedor. Las fadistas son buenas y los guitarristas también. Los camareros muy amables y atentos pendientes de si necesitas algo y de si estás a gusto. La comida, no está espectacular pero bien; las bebidas muy caras. El ambiente es agradable.
NO cobran con tarjeta pero nadie te avisa y ponen excusas absurdas, en pleno S.XXI no es muy normal, fue lo único desagradable de la noche.

We walked in by pure luck...and it was a very nice surprise! we wanted to hear Fado songs with a good glass of wine and tapas...this was it!
very nice place with really good rythmic and emotional Fado singers!!! a must stop in the barrio alto! less popular than tasca do chicos but as good and less crowed!

Не знаток песен Фадо, но примерно так и представлял это. Две тётки хоть как-то старались, я искренне аплодировал.
На ужин взял бакаляу от шеф-повара. Да... В армии меня полтора года кормили сушёной ( перед приготовлением сутки вымоченной в воде) треской каждый ужин подряд. Если бы солдатам-поварам дали оливковое масло, это было бы тоже самое. Вино было неплохое, но бокал в два раза дороже, чем бутылка его же в соседней лавке. И самое неприятное, не принимают к оплате банковские карты.

O fado é bom, elas cantam duas músicas e dão pausa de meia hora, a bebida é muito cara, e demora muito para servir os pratos. Comida ruim. Não aceite os aperitivos, são mais caros que o prato principal. você quer salvar sua noite, escolha outro lugar. Detalhe, não aceita cartão de crédito. Estamos a 15 dias em Lisboa e posso afirmar o pior lugar que estive...

Very bad experience. Food not good, fado music oke, but long breaks. Rip off drinks. They talk you in with inviting words and announcement of cocktails €5,00. On the bill € 8,50. explanation: €5,00 is only for take away, but nowhere announced. Glass of housewine ended up with a charge of € 8,50. Ridiculous price for Portugal. Complaints were not taken serieus, no acceptable reaction. Very bad experience. Do not go there. Lots of better places around!

Sorry guys but I can only give you 2 stars. Your alcohol is way over priced. 8,50 per glass of wine. A simple dinner turned into 65 euros because 17 euros was 2 wines. If you are from the US this is quite cheap but for Southern Europe this is way too expensive.

Great little place! I did not get anything to eat; just a drink and to watch the fado show. The drink was a little expensive but they did not set a minimum spending amount or charge a fee for the show. Most places do either of those, so you basically choose your price depending on your order. Our performers would do about 8 or 10 songs then take a break. I sat there for an hour and half and saw them perform twice with different songs. I dont know if this is an authentic fado performance but it still was fun. Overall, a decent time if you cant get in other places.

Tiny authentic gem, with great local food, super friendly service, fab cocktails and wine, and traditional Fado. The staff go out of their way to make you feel like a member of the family. A treasure!

Es un lugar agradable, con una buena cantante de fado y la comida no está mal. El problema es cuando llega la cuenta, intentan cobrar de más cambiando los precios establecidos en el menú, solo hay que tener cuidado en eso.

Fantastic little hole in the wall. Come for live music (Fado) 1900 -2400. Excellent selection of ports and cheese :)
Some other reviewers have mentioned being charged for bread/appetizers but this is just a Portugal thing. It's ok to be unfamiliar with the customs but don't blame the establishment!

Charming and typical restaurant with traditional Portuguese dishes. Wonderful Fado, no minimum or additional fee unlike most restaurants in Lisboa. And very friendly waiter !

Very bad food. Very expensive and very hot inside the restaurant. The food doent taste good. I took the seafood rice and it only had frozen surimi and 2 shrimps. It also had mussels that were not well cleaned and had some sand and parts of the shell. Be careful not to break your teeth. Fado mysic but the singers take more breaks than they sing. They sing about 3 songs and they take 30 minutes breaks. There is no wine list so they tell you the price they want , depending on what you look like. It s a tourist trap!!!

ARNAQUE!!! franchement on fait attention à pas prendre les commentaires trop au serieux, mais ici, ils sont vraiment vérifiés. Le mec dehors joue de son charme pour vous faire rentrer, manger et écouter du fado... La nourriture est vraiment pas terrible, sans saveurs et pas assaisonnée!!! De plus ne prenez pas d'alcool ou verres sans avoir vu les prix au préalable.. ils sont démesurés rt bizarrement pas affichés!!! 10€ le verre de sangria (dégueulasse coupé à la bière et d'autres choses qu'on ne serait dire). Par ailleurs la table derrière nous a fait scandale (une table d'étudiantes) qui ont pris une bouteille annoncée à 19€ mais au final 90€!!! (ils jouent avec les accents pour dérouter les gens...). FUYEZ SANS PERDRE DE TEMPS.

¡Ojo Cuidado! Te traen dos mini aperitivos a la mesa mientras esperas la comida como si invitara la casa y luego te clavan 16€ en la cuenta por ello. Decepcionante...
