Há muito tempo que não ia à um sitio tão mau. A comida era medíocre, mas o espirito dos funcionários, em particular da rapariga que estava a servir à mesa para aldrabar os clientes supera tudo. Conseguiu vender uma garrafa de vinho rasca, "vinho da casa" por mais de 30€. Erro meu que assumi que sendo um vinho dessa categoria não poderia passar os 8 e já era muito. Enganar turistas não se faz e é incorrecto. Enganar portugueses além disso, é estúpido.

Enjoyable though if I return it would be in the evening, little too quiet at lunch and it's the same menu (i.e. no lunch specials). Number of dishes were with unusual ingredients or combinations which made for an experience. Worth a visit if you're in the area (we paid €70 for two)

We passed one day in front of this restaurant and we thought "oh, it looks nice, we should try it" so we went last night and it was empty (previous day too) but now we know why. Food didn't had much flavour, the waitress recommended us mushroom with eggs, nothing especial, dish was cold. We ordered at the same time bacalhau a bras (again dish was cold) we didn't know what it was, and yes, it was fish with eggs (waitress should have explained to us this but her English was very limited) Expensive place. Ah, beware! They charge you for water, bread plus 2€ for a small piece of cheese they put on the table (again, waitress should have explained this, but she didn't)

Óptima experiência. Comida muito boa. Pratos para partilhar com sabores muito típicos portugueses. O atendimento é muito cuidado e o espaço muito acolhedor.

Incredible meal of elevated home style dishes from Alentejo. The staff at the restaurant are super knowledgable and help guide thru the menu with ease and confidence. Ambiance is stellar. Not to mention the wine list of boutique labels mostly from Portugal. I would recommend anyone who is into great food and vibes eat at Taberna do Calhau.

Local aconchegante, com pequenos pratos gostosos. Comemos uma bochecha de porco, que estava um espetáculo. Lá se bebe bons vinhos ao copo, jarra ou garrafa, nada muito caro. É bom chegar mais cedo, para conseguir uma mesinha. O atendimento é ótimo. Bom para ir com os amigos.

Casa de comidas muy interesante en Lisboa!!, Donde la hospitalidad del Chef y la personalidad de su cocina hacen de su visita una gran acierto. Volveremos y recomendaremos.

This amazing small taberna was recommended to us by #teresagomasomm during our wine experience with her at The Wine Flat. We went to try the house wine - red and white tahla wines made in the traditional style in clay amphora. Oh my. Just go. The wine was wonderful and very reasonably priced. Try the white which has a beautiful golden pink blush from the small amount of time the skins remain in contact after the crush. You must have reservations but they serve from noon until 11pm and are less busy during the day. The food is small plates (order about 3-4 for 2 people), all from the southern region. My favourite was the duck with red wine and pear sauce with beetroot. Amazing. The desserts too are unusual and delicious. Lastly, all the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful, including both the chefs, who shared how they made my favourite dishes. Bom apetite!

Essa foi uma das belas surpresas de Lisboa. Chegamos ali por indicação do dono de um outro restaurante que havia sido indicado por um amigo mas estava em reforma. É um espaço pequeno, mas pitoresco, bem mesmo uma taberna. A entrada foi um queijo delicioso e, como não havia opção vegetariana como prato principal, o chef preparou algo especial para mim. Foi excelente. Eu voltaria sempre se morasse por ali.

Espectacular, óptima comida, frango de cabidela delicioso cozido com grão de chorar por mais e excelente atendimento.

Attrape-touristes ; très mauvais rapport qualité/prix ; demandez bien le prix de la bouteille de vin car il n'y a pas de carte et ils vous poussent à prendre des vins très chers et décevants. De plus les portions de petiscos sont minimales et chères pour la quantité. Fuyez il y a mieux dans Lisbonne.

Endroit au premier abord sympathique dans un quartier populaire mais la note est réellement du pur vol et l'accueil déplorable. Nous étions 6 et avons demandé des tapas à partager, on nous a servi des rations de moineaux et facturé une mauvaise bouteille de vin rouge acide 43 €, le serveur avait insisté lourdement pour nous proposer son choix à 110€. Aucune carte des prix pour les vins, ils sont soi-disant écris sur les bouteilles en hauteur !! Alors regardez en hauteur avant de commander votre 'mauvais' vin. C'est un attrape touriste. Nous habitons le quartier nous n'y reviendrons jamais !

Very positive experience to visit TdC... Finally a restaurant that rethinks the Portuguese kitchen with focus on the ingredients. We were 3 who shared 8 dishes (including 1 dessert) - of them 6 were spot-on witch is a very high rate! Loking forward to come back soon - its only 5 minitues down from Graca :-)

Embora a comida seja bem confeccionada os valores são demasiado elevados para a oferta. Nos vinhos têm opções originais pese embora o facto de o stock ser limitado. Opções escassas no que toca as sobremesas. Atendimento muito afavel.

Еда так себе. На алкоголь цены высокие. Ниже 25 евро нет. Ещё посетителей не предупреждают о сервировки стола, на котором уже стоят оливки, сыр, хлеб и оливковое масло. Потом это все включают в Счёт, порядка 10 евро. Так что если хотите сэкономить отказывайтесь от этих продуктов.

Amazing experience and one of the best meals I have had in Lisbon for a long time. Unpretentious, with a modern twist on old Portuguese favourites. I also have to add that they serve one of the best pica pau you are ever likely to find. Finally, they have an amazing wine list

I was walking past this restaurant on the way back to my accommodation and went in to find out what they specialise in. When they told me that they cook Portuguese favourites from the South of Portugal my interest was intrigued. I decided to return later after making a reservation and was warmly welcomed and looked after by David. He was very attentive, warm and gave me his suggestions on what is great on the menu. The dishes are not large but they don't need to be. The quality of the produce and finesse from the chef's is something that sets this place apart. They are dishes that are meant to be shared but also can be eaten for one person. I had two dishes one was cod fish with corrainder in a broth it was subtle but extracted lots of flavour. The second dish was pork belly perfectly cooked. If your looking for a great place to eat in Lisbon away from the tourist areas this is one of the these places. Feel blessed to be able to experience this before leaving Portugal.

Small untouristic Restaurant with unbelieveably good food, magnificent wine and great staff! We will come again!

Não gostei mesmo nada da comida nem do preço. Quatro pratos de petiscos para partilhar, um de cada vez e de cada vez uma nova desilusão, entre saber a pouco e saber mal. Cada prato era pequeno e rondava os 9€. Vinho tinto a copo bom mas caro (7€), uma sobremesa saborosa, a única coisa boa da noite. Lamento não ter sentido trabalho no sabor da comida. Ambiente giro. Mas só giro. Lamento muito não dar melhor feedback. Serviço simpático e acolhedor. Infelizmente não voltarei.

Esperiencia agradável! Só faltou a presença do Leopoldo para lhe dar os parabéns!!

Authentic food made with love and with the best portuguese seasonal products. Best natural wines (it, fr, pt, es,...), best food, best service, owner with a big heart!

Il est difficile de parler de ce lieux tellement il est unique. Je pourrais vous en parler des heures, vous dire que les plats qu’on vous sert sont délicieux, les saveurs authentique, la cuisine faite dans le respect des produits nobles d’un producteur local. Il n’existe aucune fausse note dans le dîner que nous venons de faire. Le chef est un génie, le service en salle est au petit soin. Le tout avec une playlist très made in France (cocorico) des années 60. Chaque secondes passé dans ce lieu respire la sincérité et la simplicité. Alors oui, je pourrais vous dire tout cela, mais j’ai décidé que ce lieux deviendrais ma cantine, et je souhaite la garder secrète. J’ai peur, en vous disant tout cela, de ne plus trouver de place la prochaine fois que je viendrais. Car oui, la prochaine fois, ce restaurant où vous dégusterez chaque plats pour comprendre la magie qui se passe dans votre bouche sera certainement remplie car il aura métrite d’être à la première place. Merci encore.

Incredible food. Such an underrated spot! All their food is made in a traditional style from the south of Portugal. Service was amazing too. €60 for lunch for two + drinks.

Beautiful food, wine and atmosphere. Was such a treat to be taken to Taberna do Calhau for lunch. We were taken on a journey through many local dishes and ingredients put together with flair. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic and authentic food from the Alentejo region. Great ambiance too. We had the chef Leopoldo choose our meal and wines and ... wow!!! A true hidden gem in Lisbon. Thank you for the experience Leopoldo.

Doses minúsculas e não tem carta de vinhos. Todos os vinhos são muito caros. As garrafas de água que devem ser enchidas na torneira são pagas. Não volto lá.

Não gustei. Não ten carta de vinhos. Tomei o vinho da casa: 500 ml a €8.00! Comida linda e pouca quantidade. Não se come, petiscos gourmet? Pode ser. Muito caros para petiscar. €91.00 por 4 pessoas.

Pois este é um grande calhau, ou talvez uma pedra atravessada nem sei bem onde. Neste estabelecimento Existe uma falta de respeito inacreditável pelo cliente e a simpatia momentânea rapidamente se transforma num silencio sem justificações na hora em que chega a conta. Atenção pois neste restaurante nao há carta de bebidas, mais especificamente de vinhos. Só é possível saber o preço se nos deslocarmos até ao centro do restaurante e olharmos para uma prateleira cheia de garrafas vazias com uns números escritos que nem se conseguem bem perceber. Mas para mim foi o suficiente para perceber que o vinho que me estaria a ser recomendado pelo dono, custaria o valor de 18€. Até aqui tudo bem, a comida nada de especial ou inovador, com doses bem sofríveis. Chegamos à sobremesa já conhecida de outras paragens sem grande sucesso, e finalmente pedimos a conta. E é aqui mesmo que está o grande problema, sem nunca nos terem referido ou alertado, é cobrada a taxa adicional de 12€ como taxa de rolha, do vinho que tínhamos pedido e consumido no restaurante. Indignados com a situação solicitamos um esclarecimento que veio de uma das funcionárias justificando que seria a política da casa. Pois como é obvio se tivéssemos sido alertados para tal disparatada política provavelmente nao teriamos pedido o vinho. Isto denota uma total falta de escrúpulos e de respeito pelos clientes, e é de uma total falta de profissionalismo de alguém que já está no ramo há alguns anos e que deveria ja ter aprendido alguma coisa com o insucesso. Não é assim que se ganha tudo. E hoje o calhau perdeu o meu respeito e o de quem me acompanhava. O vinho que custava 18€ ficou por 30€ e que tal?

What an amazing experience! A true taberna informal atmosphere but getting efficient service always with a smile Typical Portuguese food prepared with an highly original twist from Chef Leopoldo invoking his origins from Alentejo... it even includes a secret family receipt for a wonderful almond cake... will definitely return!!!

You absolutely must have dinner here. Front of the house is warm and welcoming. Chef executes brilliantly, calmly with a demeanor of a skill and conducts a beautiful balance of acidity in his dishes, knowing exactly what he wants your palate to experience. Don't come with expectations on what to eat. Just ask their recommendations and trust them. Recommend reservations as this little secret will soon get out.
