You absolutely must dine here! It was by far our best meal in Lisbon, each interesting dish carefully made with love.
First we ordered the samosas which were just perfect with the home made chilli oil, each one a glorious crispy parcel bursting with flavour. The tchatinha appetiser was a mushroom, eggplant and coconut dish and it was so tasty we failed to photograph it....
The crab curry was incredible, giant pieces of meaty crab wading in a rich sauce of spices, and the mathapa (blended cassava leaves in coconut) was delicious. All of the flavours were wonderfully unique. But most importantly Chamba, the owner and chef, made our night. He was friendly and attentive, evidently happy to be running such a high quality restaurant.
You won't regret a visit (or two)!

Quaint little spot with delicious food and excellent service. The food is prepared very thoughtfully. The crab curry and mushroom appetizer are delicious!

The food was really good. The only surprising part was being charged for olives and bread that were brought to our table, but we never ordered.

Tre stelle perché non si può dire che il cibo nel complesso sia cattivo. Ma dalle super valutazioni sia su google che su tripadvisor mi aspettavo molto di più.

Enjoyed this lovely little African (Mozambican) restaurant in the Alfama quarter in Lisbon. Food was delicious, crab curry and cassava dish with shrimp had wonderful sauces and spices. Enjoyed the manic and the mushroom dish. Server was friendly and attentive. Great compliment to all the traditional Portuguese food we've been enjoying. A great place to sample a taste of Africa!

I had a really tasty vegetarian dish (mathapa), really good. Other diners was enjoying their food too. The waiter was friendly and helpful, and the place cosy and welcoming.

Kleines afrikanisches Restaurant mit sehr freundlichem Personal (Chef), Essen war sehr gut, wenn auch mir unbekannte Gerichte, aber vom Chef sehr gut erklärt.

Serveur sympas (qui en fait est le propriétaire) mais qui n'hésites pas à facturer tout ce qui est posé sur la table (pain, olives), même ce qui n'à pas été commandé. Hormis le Manioc frit qui est très sympas, le reste était très basic, rien d'exceptionnel et seuls 3 à 5 plats aux choix. Pour finir: lourde intoxication alimentaire due à des crevettes avariées mangées incontestablement chez Roda Viva. 5 jours pour nous en remettre ma compagne et moi, heureusement que le reste du voyage était exquis. Restaurant à éviter à tout prix: hygiène plus que douteuse et méthode commerciale trompeuse.

Mozambijska kuchnia czyli smaki mało u nas znane. Chociaż dania nie są może bardzo wykwintne to smaczne, a to chyba najważniejsze. Miła atmosfera, niezobowiązujące miejsce, interesujące potrawy (bardzo krótkie menu - widać, że kucharz gotuje tylko to co umie najlepiej). Warto odwiedzić spacerując po Alfamie.

Buenísima comida mozambiqueña. Ideal para probar algo distinto y a la vez muy ligado a la historia culinaria portuguesa. Está bastante bien de precio y situado en Alfama, así que viene muy a mano si lo estáis visitando. Totalmente recomendable.

Petit restau africain dans petite ruelle la cuisine fut une véritable suprise. Le serveur est très sympa la cuisine on a adoré. De la soupe maison puis champignons cuits dans lait coco. Manioc frit et sauce africaine servis à coté. On a vraiment adoré. Merci encore.

El lugar es pequeño y acogedor, el tiempo de servicio es bueno puesto que la comida es preparada al momento. La comida es simplemente fantástica, quedé con ganas de volver y cada vez que pase por Lisboa lo haré. En mi opinión uno de los mejores lugares para comer aquí, la comida es muy buena, la atención es excelente y el precio es aceptable. Totalmente recomendado

It was alright, but nothing extraordinary. Price is que high too. The vegetarian option is basically a puree of veg, with quite a string flavour.

Beef jest całkiem fajny i w afrykańskim stylu. Krewetki tez całkiem ok ale do ideału trochę im brakuje. byliśmy w dużej grupie i obsługa była bardzo profesjonalna. Co prawda był problem dogadania się bo kelner nie mówi w języku innym niż portugalski.

Average, nothing special. Portions were a bit of a joke, mainly their salad with salmon, mushroom and pineapple. Salad’s price was 9+ euro for a few tiny pieces of salmons and pineapple, a few rocket leaves and mushrooms. Very unreasonable. Seabass (the main course) was not bad though.

Went here at the end of August. Although the weather was still good enough to sit outside, we chose this place because of the ambiance...and we did not regret it. Loved this cozy place and the food, all for a very good price.

Had the shrimp curry and chicken curry. So delicious!! The samoussas & chilli sauce were so good we ordered 4 more! The chilli sauce is really really spicy but so good!!! The mushroom/aubergine starter (Tchatinha or something) is really tasty! Everything we had here was devine - we’re thinking of coming back once more before we leave Lisbon!

This place is a cute small restaurant with really delicious food and warm-hearted staff. We were relaxing there during our dinner. I hope to come there when I will visit Lisbon next time .

Por mim passava a noite toda a comer aquelas chamuças com aquele picante!!
Adorei a maneira como fui atendido e a sala nova deixa-nos à vontade como se estivéssemos em casa.
Aconselho as capirinhas e as cervejas moçambicanas e Makofo ou Mathapa com camarão.
O picante artesanal é dos melhores que já provei e ainda por cima dá para comprar e trazer para casa.
Muito bom!

Sehr schöner kleiner Laden mit tollen afrikanischen Gerichten. Sehr zu empfehlen ist der Avocado Nachtisch. Wir haben noch nie so etwas leckeres gegessen :)

Sehr schönes kleines Restaurant das nicht von Touristen überflutet wird.
Auch sind die Gerichte saisonal und teilweise für Vegetarier geeignet.
Jedoch war der Maisbrei eher lasch und auch die Gerichte dazu nichts besonders außergewöhnliches.
Doch für den Preis völlig ok.

Wonderful is the definition for this place. Among the sea of turistic restaurants that try to 'grab' you from the street, this is a treat! Food is fresh and prepared with a surprising mix of flavours (put the spicy sauce on everything if you can); people are welcoming and atmosphere is relaxed.

Un tres bon restaurant, si vous voulez de la qualité et un très bon service, allez y ! Le serveur a été adorable. Nous avons adoré les plats (mention special pour les crevettes) et le tout pour des prix très abordables.

Intentaré ser lo más objetivo posible. Lo que probé Thapa o algo así, para mi gusto incomestible, pero como desconocedor de la cocina Mozambiqueña, no sé si estaba bien hecha. Mi compañero se lo comió, yo no pude. La mousse de mango que probé de postre estaba correcta. Valoro más en este caso el local, muy estrecho, caluroso y el servicio, muy lento aunque muy agradables.

We were looking for a Fado restaurant, but felt like most of them were just tourist traps. So we ended up here and we felt like we made the right choice. Simple food, but all very good. The waiter was very friendly.

Would go back for sure.

This is a very small restaurant in Alfama, with very authentic Mozambican food. We preordered Nhangana a couple of days ahead and it didn't disappoint. The xima was excellent. This place brought back memories of Mozambique.

I went in search of black Lisbon and found some of it here at this gem of a restaurant. Had an amazing shrimp dish that was flavorful but not too spicy, accompanied by a mushroom dish and great wine. Fantastic meal. Made my entire vacation!

Delicious Mozambique food. We had been looking for somewhere that served meat but that also had a ‘real’ vegetarian option. This was that place. Friendly staff and lovely, lovely mushrooms.

Fantastic little restaurant! We had the chicken and the shrimp dishes and the flavours were amazing. The place had a lovely atmosphere and the waiter was very friendly. Highlight was the white wine sangria which was delicious and great value.

Excelente serviço de pratos cozinhados à moçambicana de Quelimane, Otávio Chamba representa a cozinha de Moçambique de modo eficiente. Vale a pena saborear as chamuças, o caril de caranguejo,a xima e mousse de coco e de manga.

It was okay, not what I expected via the reviews. Sangria was quite warm aswell and the portions could have been better. But all in all it was an OK experience but one thing we found is that the owners were more receptive to the locals and we felt kind of tolerated as tourists. Wish them the best with their restaurant regardless.

Este espaço, gerido pelo Sr. Otávio Chamba, oferece os paladares da longínqua moçambique país de onde é originário. A principal preocupação do proprietário é a satisfação integral dos seus clientes. E Otávio não deixa esse pormenor abandonado. A comida preenche a nostalgia das paragens africanas. Um espaço pequeno e acolhedor que faz as pessoas sentirem-se em casa.

Petit restaurant de cuisine mozambicaine, mais pas nécessairement épicée ;-), sert des plats en viande ou végétariens. Le propriétaire est adorable, la cuisinière également.
La soupe de légumes est très bonne.
Le mathapa (feuilles de manioc broyées avec du lait de coco et des crevettes) est sympa.
La mousse/crème au citron est excellente. La mousse d'avocat, en dessert, est à tester pour l'originalité.
Prix raccords avec ce quartier touristique mais tout à fait honnêtes pour la qualité de service et l'ambiance.

Boa comida, bom preço e bom atendimento. O espaço é pequeno e acabamos por ficar um pouco apertados. A porta da rua estava sempre a ficar aberta quando as pessoas entravam ou saíam.
Recomendo a mousse de côco.

O restaurante fica em uma ótima localização, muito próximo do Museu do Fado. A comida é excelente e com bom preço. Recomendo a Mathapa e o Caril de Caranguejo e Bajias, de entrada. Os mousses também são muito saborosos!
