Great food, great setting especially for sunset. Had the Portuguese sea food stew and could be in the top 10 dishes I've tasted. 4 stars only due to the cost approx 20euros for a main but still well worth it.

Absolutely nothing special, very expensive, the staff speaks very poor English. The only advantage is its location on the shore of the ocean (but therefore it is super windy as well).

Where do I start.... we have just left it. So disappointing. We went on a magazine recommendation drive 20 minutes to get there.
Poor choice menu... Poor service, Fatty steaks. €12.00 for a bread basket and had to call the waiter for the bill. The table wasn't even cleared 15 minutes after we had eaten.
Short changed on the bill by €10.00. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Stylische Beachbar direkt am Strand mit sehr guter Aussicht auf den Sonnenuntergang mit Parkplätzen am Gebäude. Service zuvorkommend aber nicht so schnell wie erhofft. Getränke und Essen etwas teurer, aber dafür eben super Lage.

Stoped for a few drinks on Sunday and spent most of the day here, very nice staff and food very nice. Only problem my wife left a black Calvin Klein hoody behind on a seat due to all the drinking, has anyone handed it in??

This used to be a great place to eat, that has changed great location poor food. The restaurants beside it are much better with just as good a view.
Last time we where there we found the staff to be rude. Our party of ten where not made feel very welcome. We wont be going back.

Bland food, extortionate prices, below par service, and the most confrontational, arrogant owner you could ever meet. This is a restaurant that single-handedly manages to drag down the reputation of the area. There are other restaurants on the same beach that are far superior to this one. I'd recommend trying one of those unless you want to ruin your holiday by visiting this dross.

So I was going to give it 4*s, but then I read the extraordinarily aggressive responses to other people who aren’t completely positive below and knocked one off for good measure.
The view is great, the staff were on the whole easy to deal with, and the food was decent (but not great) for the price. The fact it’s an expensive area is already taken into account in this assessment.
One major issue: wasps. They have a significant issue with wasps but instead of doing anything about it they just blame the weather. Bonkers. I’ve eaten out many, many times in the area at this time of year and never come across this issue at this scale anywhere else. Has a major impact on the meal.
Genuinely excited for the management response. BRING IT ON SHOUTY-MAN.

Tourist trap! The food was overpriced and tasted bland. Asked if we wanted bread for the table but didn't mention the charge of €3 per person so we ended up paying €21 for a 5 ciabatta rolls and some olives. Although the view and location is good the unsanitary toilets are enough to not recommend this place. There are higher end options around the area.

Pagas por la situacion que la verdad es fantastica, la atencion buena, pero el sablazo que te meten es de escandalo, cobrar 16€ por 2 lonchas de pollo(porque no eran mas grandes que eso) y un puñado de patatas fritas es sangrante y el resto igual pero ya no lo voy a comentar. Estos sitios se aprovechan una barbaridad del turismo. Si me llegan a poner lo mismo que un menu del dia en cualquier parte de Galicia no llegan 300€

Poor. On arrival the waiting staff seemed as if they were doing is a favour by giving us a table on a completely empty restaurant. No atmosphere, the food was expensive compared to all the other restaurants on the same stretch, but the food was very nice. Over priced, the staff need to learn about customer service and we would go to Issy's, Maria's, Edwardos or the Tennis Club rather than this restaurant. 2/10.

Loved this place and will certainly go back often. Goats cheese starter was especially wonderful - creamy and delicious! The beach views, sunset and live music made for a very special evening.
One little grumble, we had to ask three times for a soft drink (as my husband needs to drink while eating), then again three times for coffee. A frustration in an otherwise perfect experience.

The beach is really dirty in comparison with others. Also swimming is not so much fun because you can see this seewead everywhere. Moreover you can say that there are a lot of people because of the good location.

Where do hulas get their good reviews from,overpriced local beer at 6euros for a pint,a rough beer which I would not recommend to anyone,a dismal toasted sandwich at 7euros,thrown on a plate ,only accompanied by only a tissue ,overpriced and not deserving one star for a dismal snack,an evening experience was no better,so much for giving the place a second chance

Incredibly poor service and average food
Reply to owner: We did complain to a very fed up waiter “in the real world” who had clearly been on the receiving end of lots of complaints tonight. We were about to leave after a 2 hour wait when our somewhat disappointing food finally arrived!
We also witnessed more bookings being taken despite us being told the kitchen were too busy!

It is still a great place to stay. In the beginning of VDL Julia`s was a cosy place near the pracà nowadays. And it has still it's charm in this place where she has her restaurant and beach bar for a long time. We had a drink at the beachbar for the sun downer and enjoyed the place with happy people around us.

Service is very important to customers nowadays as your establishment knows but never received it for euros we paid. It not cheap prices, got far better attention at other places. Yes food was good but little things let down.

Drinks didn't show up after 30 minutes because the waiter said he left the ticket in his pocket. The waiter said he would bring my dad some snacks to go with his beer which never arrived. 12 euros for a small bread basket and butter. Asked for ketchup 2 times. No waiters came over to ask us if the food was okay or if we needed anything and the service was completely neglected, clearly we were already written off the moment we walked in. We had to get up and to the till ourselves to pay no one would come so we could ask for the bill. The food was good but just very overpriced. Also if you're looking for the drunk love island vibe you've found your place ! No authentic Portuguese restaurant here.

Wij hebben hier koffie met iets erbij gehad. Prima koffie en dito taart. Het ligt iets tegen de rotsen en vanaf het terras heb je een mooi uitzicht op de baai en op de surfers op het strand en zee. Het strand ligt in het natinale park.

Perfect spot right on one of my favourite beaches in the Algarve. The food was served quickly and was delicious. We last ate at Julia's a few years ago before the refurbishment and were not that impressed.....HOWEVER on the drive home today my wife and I stuck Julia's to the top of our favourites list.
Kudos to you guys, we're fussy buggers and today we were nothing but impressed. Your waiting staff at the lower beach deck were bang on form and I was particularly impressed with the fish discussion (education) I had and how lovely they were to our 3 year old. Built sandcastles on the beach straight after a fantastic lunch...what more could anyone want!

Food was exceptional but the service was diabolical. Booked a table 2 months in advance for 21st birthday. Table was booked for 3pm but wasn't seated till 4.45pm. Constantly trying to get hold of a waiter and a 3 course meal took over 3 hours to be served despite ordering 45 minuets before actually sat down! Although the food was very good the service was so bad we shall not be returning. Ever.

We visit Julias every year the food is always good but it does tend to be busy. Especially on Sunday. So visit Julias but book beforehand.

Had high hopes for this restaurant as heard lots of good things about it. Food was good, great choice and my two dishes were great. Sadly totally let down by the service. Slow to take any orders - just one person taking orders for the whole restaurant, food delivery was mixed. Ours arrived in reasonable time, the table next to ours took 90 minutes and that was only after they complained. Trying to get the bill was also a task, in the end we went to the counter without a bill as we'd already waited 20 minutes. Such a shame as it's a great location but it definitely needs a bit of makeover and improvement of service. Cannot compare to similar restaurants in the nearby praca of vale do lobo yet prices are the same.

We had a number of visits to Julia's while staying at Vale do Lobo and it's a wonderful laid back experience compared to many of the resort restaurants. There is also a beach bar and you can take drinks to your rented loungers which is not available at most beach spots. Sunday's can get a bit rowdy in the main restaurant when the rose wine is flowing and the live music starts and everybody starts dancing and singing along to Neil Diamond and the other classics. Highly recommend the sirloin steak.

Great restaurant, great staff, great location. Came here for a week and stayed at the lake resort hotel. Have friends who come here a couple times a year and highly recommended this restaurant. Well worth the 30min drive. So good we eat here 3 times in one week. Will definitely be back!!

If you like a long Sunday lunch, and you like the Algarve, then Julia's is the best of both worlds. Perched above the beach in a glorious setting no matter what the weather. Our latest visit was during a rainstorm, but that almost enhanced the atmosphere! No pretentiousness, but good quality food at reasonable prices, with friendly service. Its popularity tells you all you need to know, so just make sure you book in advance - especially for Sundays!

This place was a piece of #%*£ !! Took us ages to get noticed (40 minutes) and or food also took 1hour and a half to come!! Never seen such a bad service in my entire life! Not to mention that the place is overpriced for the quality of the food!! WHAT A RIPOFFF!!

Nice place by the beach but the food was not worth the money. My sirloin steak was too cold and about a quarter of it was pure fat. I did not order any sauce for my steak but was instead served small bags of ketchup and mayonnaise. Not what one would expect for 24.50€.

We loved Julia's on our last visit to Portugal. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them, great for kids too and they had a wee playground outside where the staff played with the kids and entertained them. The food is delicious and not overpriced for a beachfront restaurant. Oh to be there now. Hope to see Julia's in the very near future.

I love the place, coming here since years!
You can't get any closer to the sea than here.
They have great food and very friendly staff.
However, they let you feel that you are in the Algarve, it's a bit pricey.

I have been coming here for 25 years and it is still the same old place. It is good, I do not deny it, but it is expensive and it is always full of English people! (I am English btw!)
The fish is good and the African Rice they do is divine, but I think if you drive 15 mins more you will find a better more realistic beach fish restaurant. But hey, does what it does well. And I do enjoy the live music on a Sunday here.
It is easy reach from the beach and a nice place to meet friends for a leisurely meal.

We have been visiting Julia's since 1983 and have never experienced rude waiters. The food always excellent, staff and Paulo always welcoming. First port of call when in Algarve.

I've been going to the Algarve for 20 years and Julia's is the original and still the best beach bar in the area by far.
The staff are always friendly and cannot do enough for you. The restaurant upstairs is great and the beach bar is a fantastic place to sit and enjoy a drink or 2 or 3 or ...!
I fear the bad review a few below this is a set up from the neighbouring Izzy's bar as you will see from these reviews and all others on Trip advisor, Julia's is a top, top bar / restaurant. It's a shame that competitors feel the need to do this, but perhaps that says a lot about how good Julia's actually is!
If you're in the area, I strongly recommend a visit. Martin and his team will take great care of you as they always do us. We cant wait to get back out there!!
