Unreal, the shared garlic prawn starter is amazing. We stayed in Albuferia for a week and cam her twice (we was all inclusive too). 5 star for us. Brilliant

Up on the cliff you find this very good, modern and nice restaurant. Fresh fish, great view and nice staff for dinner. A little bit pricey, but the food and view makes it all good. A real recommendation!
For lunch it's directly at the beach, with sunbeds for rent.

Hier werden sie vom Chef persönlich betrogen. Er verkauft den Fisch für € 60 für 2 Personen und auf der Rechnung am Schluss verlangt er dann € 80. Das macht er bei den meisten Gästen.
Einfach gesagt: ein Betrüger! Kann ich nicht empfehlen.

Ein Ort der gehobenen Gastronomie. Sehr gute Speisen frische Fische der Region. Aufmerksames und freundliches Personal. Der Fisch wurde frisch am Grill zubereitet und am Tisch serviert. Abseits der Partymeile ein Ort der Ruhe und der gepflegten Gastronomie. Eine vergessene Handtasche mit Bargeld wurde bis zum nächsten Tag aufbewahrt und ehrlich zurückgegeben. Ein riesiges Dankeschön. Wir werden Euch in ausgezeichneter Erinnerung behalten.

We visited Algarve just for the day and stumbled upon this place for drinks and appetizers. The clams in garlic broth and the shrimp salad were amazing! The staff was so friendly giving us recommendations for our next stop in Lagos, which led us to do a boat tour to see Ponta de Piedade...A MUST MUST if you are in Lagos!

We have seen this restaurant during day and went for dinner. The BEST fish we have eaten in Albufeira, wine was delicious and staff super friendly and talkative about travel, life and food. Just perfect!

This is a restaurant specialising in fish dishes only. In doing so they have mastered the art of cooking fish. The fish I had was cooked to perfection. The restaurant lends itself to clientele who love the finer things in life, with the wine selection, ours recommended by the waiter, complimenting the food and bringing out the best in the flavours of the fish!
For starters we had octopus and squid, these were delicious and cooked with Portuguese flavours - oil olive heaven!
I would recommend this restaurant for the fresh fish experience, and/ or if you're celebrating a special occasion.
There is a different approach in this restaurant when choosing your food, and that is, there's no menu. After being seated simply go up to the fresh fish counter and choose your fish of preference, and your starters. They will tell you then and there how much your fish weighs and costs. Return to your seat and enjoy the delightful atmosphere and the food!

Tiene 3 plantas, arriba comedor cerrado, con vistas a la playa + terraza con mesas, también con vistas a la playa.
Abajo, terraza en la playa.
Bien decorado.
Camareros muy buen trato.
Calidad de la comida.
Precio medio alto.
Merece la pena, sobre todo, en invierno.

The €30 house red wine was a blended red which tasted like more like a €5 wine. We started with grilled octopus and baby squid rings. Both of which were chewy, overcooked and lacked flavour. We had a similar experience with our mains. The tuna steak was overcooked to point that it was inedible. The seabass was fresh but lacking in seasoning. Again overcooked. The vegetables were the best part of the meal. We shared chocolate mousse and it was raw and not cooked properly. Total bill came to over €100. Service was fine. Avoid.

Climbed up to the top of the restaurant at night to have a drink and maybe a little food. There was a good amount of seating at the top and the rest of the restaurant was empty. After picking a table we were told we had to walk over to the counter with fish in it and choose food from there - we were never given a menu. When we tried to tell the waiter (who was now waving a raw fish in front of us at the fish counter by the kitchen) that we just wanted a small plate he told us that it wasn’t possible. When we said that’s fine and that we’ll just drink he said that wasn’t possible either and we would have to go to a different restaurant. Never got a menu, never got a drink, and service was impersonal and cold. Even with a nice view of Albufeira, this restaurant has nothing else to offer.

The place where I want to eat or be is where all members of the staff are treated kindly with the most respect and not rudeness.
The beach portion with is the establishment responsability is very very unsanitary. Literally dog excrement around cover in sand. You will not be able to see on what your children are rolling on.
Not happy with the way tourism is being explored around. If one should say so, at this point Albufeira is a gross place for people maybe too distracted, probably would be good food and wine, to care.
It is movie drama sad. It is what it is. No "but"s...The sewer from time to time is dumped directly, I said DIRECTLY my friend, on the bathing water. Is there to see and smell. The good bad example on how tourism should never be explored.

I know its a mainly fish restaurant but that was the best fillet mignon I have ever had. Beautiful place, pleasant staff, relaxing atmosphere, highly recommend!

Hemos entrado y a los 5 minutos nos han hecho sentir incómodos, nos ha insinuado/obligado a tener que pedir más comida de la que realmente no teníamos apetito para poder estar en la terraza. Muy mal el señor de pelo blanco que atiende tras la barra de pescado y marisco, prepotente y arrogante. Indignante. Nos hemos marchado sin llegar a cenar...Muy triste ver profesionales de la hostelería, tratar de esta forma a sus potenciales clientes.

Very bad the white-haired gentleman who attends after the fish and seafood bar. Outrageous. We have left without getting to dinner ... Very sad to see hosterly expert, to treat their potential clients in this way.

I’m not really a fish eater but was here year before last, had Langoustines in garlic, for starter and Seabass as a main and it was fabulous. So back this year, had a refreshing and tasty tuna salad to start and Seabream for a main and as you can see I did leave much... really enjoyed it and will back again.

Une arnaque...on paie en effet le poisson au poids, la fraîcheur est la mais pour une assiette de coques baignants dans de l eau avec 2 gousses d ail, payer 25 euros me paraît de l arnaque.
Réponse du serveur sur le fait qu il n y ait pas d accompagnement ( pas de carte ni d explications non plus...) vous payez la vue.
76 euros pour 2 plats de l eau et un verre de vin...Ça fait cher la vue !

Il posto è incantevole, il personale è molto molto professionale e gentile. Abbiamo cenato in terrazza e la vista è davvero bella, proprio sull'oceano ! La materia prima è di ottima qualità e i prezzi non sono altissimi. Le portate vanno prenotate direttamente al banco dove mostrano il pesce che hanno a disposizione e i prezzi sono esposti lì in quanto non hanno il menu a la carta tranne che per i vini. Se dovessi tornare ad Albufeira il primo posto dove andrei a cenare sarebbe qui!

We went there, very elegantly dressed for the sunset. We wanted to have a sangria while watching the sunset first and then food, but the waiter did not allow us to do so before ordering a minimum of 2 platters per person.
We assured him that we will be having food next, but first sangria, however they kept insisting! Very bad customer service

Brutal place. Got a lobster it was 80euro and shocking side salad with it.. don't know where he pulled it from cause it was not out of the tank and not fresh. Myself and wife payed 120euro for 2 cans of coke a salmon fillet and lobster. Keep your money in your pocket people

Mooi restaurant boven op de rots in Albufaira met prachtig uitzicht op zee. Hier 21 jaar geleden vaker wezen eten tijdens huwelijksreis en nu in 2018 weer terug in de Algarve. Het restaurant is uiteraard ondertussen gemoderniseerd maar de kwaliteit van de vis is nog altijd top. Absolute aanrader.

O pior atendimento que tive.
Sentamos no Restaurante e disseram-nos que teríamos de nos dirigir até ao Sr. João para escolher o jantar. Até aí tudo bem. É a forma de trabalhar do Restaurante. O problema é que o Sr. João é o típico perfil de pessoa que manda em todos e é dono de tudo e que decidir a vida das pessoas e se o que eles querem comer chega ou não.
Éramos 7 a jantar e pedimos uma posta de bacalhau, uma de lulas e uma de dourada. Tudo na procura por saber se chegaria e se fosse necessário pediríamos mais. Friso que tudo cordialmente falado e com a máxima educação perante um Sr. João já impaciente porque estávamos a pedir poucas quantidades. Infelizmente o Sr. João acabou por ficar fora de si e recusou-se a servir-nos porque pedimos apenas 5 doses para 7 pessoas. Isso mesmo. Recusou-se. Comportamento típico de alguém já pouco ciente do seu lugar perante os clientes embora já tenha 50 anos de serviço na casa. Lamentável a postura. Profundamente anormal. Talvez funcione com os clientes estrangeiros que não entendem bem a forma de falar neste restaurante populista.
Infelizmente viemos embora virando as costas ao restaurante sem dizer mais uma palavra no dia de um aniversário que deveria ser feliz. Não pedi o livro de reclamações nem chamei a polícia por recusa de atendimento pois não quis estragar mais a noite. Num dia normal faria esse posicionamento para que talvez o Sr. João entenda que está na hora de ir para casa aproveitar a reforma e limitar-se a falar para as paredes que são boas ouvintes para quem não gosta de opiniões contrárias à sua.
Portanto não aconselho vir a este restaurante que a única coisa boa que deve ter é a vista pois a comida não provamos. Lamento pelo resto da equipe do restaurante que nos pediu desculpa discretamente. Já devem estar habituados à postura do Sr. João que não se sabe comportar em público dada a sua insanidade.
Recomendo à Super Estrela Sr. João que volte a procurar a escola para se educar novamente e que aprenda a respeitar a opinião e desejo dos outros ou que simplesmente se retire para ir jogar às cartas para um lar.
Atribui 1 estrela pois zero estrelas não é permitido neste site e segurei-me fortemente para não proferir comentários insultuosos ao atendimento.

We came for Christmas eve dinner. Fabulous. Best view. Best food in the city. Sardines for starters and sea bass ... even the simple mixed veg side cooked perfectly. House red wine ideal. Just lovely. Will be back for lunch on Thursday the 26th before heading home.

La peor expeciencia en albufeira. Ni llegamos a comer.
Llegamos a las 14:50 y el chico que estaba en la entrada nos mandó subir las escaleras. Al llegar arriba nos dice uno de los camareros que la cocina la cierran a las 3 pero que hicieramos lo que quisiesemos(asi tal cual, a ver, o si o no) Que si queriamos comer eligieramos el pescado en el mostrador. No nos dió ni mesa. Poco interès y muchas ganas de que nos fuesemos. Si no querian dar más comidas, el chico de la entrada con decir que estaba la cocina cerrada y no pasaba nada. Obviamente nos fuimos.

Está situado justo al borde de la playa con unas vistas inmejorables, subimos a la terraza que tienen en todo lo alto con la intención de cenar, nos encontramos de frente con un expositor con varios pescados que tenían un aspecto saludable y muy fresco, nos pareció una buena idea y seleccionamos una buena dorada, alli mismo la prepararon para cocinar en la parrilla que tienen justo detrás, una vez ya estaba lista, el camarero la trajo a la mesa y con un tenedor y una cuchara y una habilidad increíble la separo de su piel y todas sus espinas, el sabor de esa dorada era espectacular como también lo fue su precio, el lugar es maravilloso pero te lo cobran que no veas, pero creo que para una ocasión vale la pena, peor hubiera sido pagarla y no disfrutarla.

Brilliantly situated in the old town on a rock overlooking waves of the Atlantic ocean crashing onto the beach below, The Ruin offers an abundant selection of astoundingly good seafood, as well as alternatives. The outdoor and tiered seating areas offer a cozy and intimate dining experience with amazing views, and the service is welcoming, friendly, efficient and professional. Ordering your meal is a wonderful experience in itself, as you are introduced to the fresh fish and shell-fish on offer and enthusiastically guided through a selection of possible preparations to arrive at your final courses - this was pleasurable, fun, different and surprisingly easy. We had fresh prawns in white wine with garlic and a hint of chilipepper followed by grilled Dorado with perfectly sautéed vegetables. Both courses were prepared to perfection and this was hands down the best grilled fish I have been served anywhere. Combined with a great selection of wines, this was an unforgettable experience well worth the price.

This restaurant is beyond amazing. With stunning views and even better food I can't rate it higher. Between our sea bass main or the calamari and mackerel salad starters it was out of this world food, complimented wonderfully by our waiter Luis. Bit pricey, but the food is delicious and the portion sizes are quite generous.

I give a 4 for the staff which was very nice and friendly. I had carbonara pasta which was very good, but some pasta were burned. We also had prawns crepe which had a small leg of the prawn in it. Can be tried, has fresh fish.

Buena atención, aunque mejorable, ya que hacen uso de un protocolo antiguo; mi novio fue al servicio, y un camarero, al traernos la carta de vinos, en lugar de dármela a mi, que no había nadie más en la mesa, la dejó en el servicio de mi novio! Como si yo no existiera. Me pareció un gesto de otro siglo. Me sentí denigradada. Pero este es el único detalle que no me gustó. El resto fue todo bueno. Te dan a elegir el pez que tú quieras de un mostrador que tienen nada más entrar, y te lo preparan en unas parrillas que están a la vista, con patatas, verduras y quitándoles todas las espinas. Nosotros elegimos lubina, y estaba realmente deliciosa, de las mejores que he comido nunca. También pedimos un salpicón con caballa de entrante, el cual estaba muy bueno. El precio es razonable, merece la pena. Sólo la lubina fueron 50€, y con el salpicón, una botella de vino blanco, una botella de agua, y dos raciones de pan, 89€. El entorno es una delicia, en la misma playa, y con unas luces tenues que lo hacen aún más acogedor. Conocimos al dueño, con el que estuvimos hablando un rato largo, y he de decir que nos acogió como en su casa. Es encantador, campechano, un encanto de persona. Recomiendo este restaurante a todos aquellos que queráis ir sin duda a equívocos, ya que el producto es de primera de calidad. Muy buen lugar, de los que te vas contento

Also ich fand es schrecklich wie wir als Gäste behandelt wurden, wir hatten 30 Minuten gewartet und es ist keiner gekommen um die Bestellung aufzunehmen. Dann ging ich an die Bar um zu bestellen und wurde abgewiesen. Das Personal war nicht freundlich und hatte keinen Respekt gegenüber Touristen.

Hacía años que no iba a este restaurante, pero no defrauda, carta nada amplia pero suficiente, solo pescados, mariscos, ensaladas varias, todo del mar, los pescados expetaculares, las vistas en la terraza impresionantes, el restaurante muy bonito. Ordered the calamari for appies and could tell it wasn’t cooked fresh. It was chewy and dry and wasn’t crunchy like fresh fried breaded calamari. Had the lobster which was either over cooked or re-cooked. Was dry and cheewy as well and tasted really fishy. Wasn’t good at all. Next had the tiger prawns which was the best part of the meal though it wasn’t cleaned and butterflied as you would normally get fresh prawns. Spent a pretty penny as was the worst meal we had in Albufeira.

A comida estava boa e a senhora e O garçom que nos atenderam foram atenciosos. Estava tudo bom até na hora de irmos embora quando pagamos a conta e pedimos para o garçom se ele tinha aquela bebida de cortesia, que normalmente é uma bebida típica do local onde e oferecido na maioria dos restaurantes para clientes . O chefe que estava de servico negou rispidamente a solicitação. Eu entendo que ele não é obrigado a dar esse serviço mas existem formas de ser respondidas . Ficamos tristes com a situação , depois de pagarmos quase €600 de conta a nossa noite que poderia terminar bem terminou em constrangedora.

One of the best in Albufeira. Fresh fish is the main dish. It is not possible to eat cooked dishes like rice and pasta. Service perfect and with an outstanding view. A little expensive (not so much), but worth all Euros. I will definitely return if I return to Albufeira.

A Ruina was terrific. Perfect view from the top of the house. Service was quick and very helpful. We shared clams, mussels, octopus, gambas and a fish which was all very good except some of the mussels that smelled strange. Everything was fished locally and you could feel that on the taste. Worth a visit!

Eine traumhafte Lage direkt am Meer. Das Restaurant ist etwas im oberen Preissegment, dafür bekommt man sehr gutes Essen. Es gibt keine richtige Speisekarte. Der Chef höchstpersönlich erklährt die Gerichte und gibt Empfehlungen ab. Das Fleisch und der Fisch sind direkt im Restaurant in einer Vitrine ausgestellt.

This place is much more expensive than all the other places around... if you are gonna eat here.. skip the appetizers and all the non fish items and just order main course fish.. we ha the sea bass it was really good.. expensive but good.. the appetizers were below average and way too overpriced and the kids stuff like spaghetti bolognese and the fish fingers were not even edible .. the kids couldn’t even swallow a single bite.. the chicken nuggets were barely ok.. our fried and grilled calamari were less than ok.. the prawns were not good either.. the grilled sea bass was sooo yummy though.. so just skip everything and go for a big fish as a main if you come here.. the wine is good and reasonably priced and the ambience is nice and the view is amazing

Was made feel uncomfortable from start to finish, the cook should not be speaking with customers, I'm sure he's good at cooking but his customer service is turning customers away.
Everything seemed to be too much hassle to the staff from impatient ordering process with the chef to the fact I wasn't hungry and wanted just a main to share with my wife.
My parents then joined me later on who were then made feel uncomfortable that they didn't want several courses.
I couldn't wait to leave

Ce n' est pas parce que la vue est belle qu il faut négliger les plats. Il faut se déplacer pour choisir ce que l on va manger, faut faire vite. Alors oui le poisson est frais et bien préparé mais tout le reste est médiocre et sans saveur pour un prix bien trop excessif pour ce que c est. A éviter de préférence sauf si on a pas de goût.

Fuimos con una doble recomendación y la verdad no defraudó las expectativas. Al entrar nos costó encontrar alguien que nos atendiera, parece ser que dan por hecho que tienes que saber que hay que subir las escaleras para ser atendido. El resto fenomenal, vistas increíbles, buen servicio y buen género, aunque sin grandes florituras. Tomé uno de los mejores rodaballos de mi vida, a la brasa y en su punto. Ideal para parejas

Incredible food and service. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable and speak excellent English if your Portuguese isn't up to much. Select your fish/seafood, they tell you how they cook it and what it comes with. The sea bass and sea bream are phenomenal, and the salad starters are large enough for a meal in themselves. The restaurant is featured in most guides to The Algarve for good reason.

Super cadre, personnel très bien, patron très sympa, repas en famille deux plats très bien par contre le mien "calamars grillés " que j'adore était très amère. Heureusement le dessert était parfait.

Lovely fish restaurant in the old town area of Albufeira. We had grilled sardines, calamari and sea bass which were delicious and washed down with a great bottle of green wine (€35). Great location on the beach with great views. We dinned on the ground floor so the kids could run around on the beach. Perfect!

€10 for €1.99 bottle of rose in any shop. If you share a fish then you can split the €80 per fish(approx). Starters are cold horrible salads. The pricing is confusing for non portugese speakers and you may pay more than you wanted by mistake. Not great quality. Would not return. La tasca next door is twice as good.

Wir sind am Sonntag dem 25.02.2018 im Ruina eingekehrt... nachdem wir vorher erfolglos 3 verschiedene Restaurants abgeklappert haben... Was anscheinend an der Nebensaison liegt... Das Essen und vorallem der Service war sehr gut... wir waren aber auch die ersten und recht lange die einzigen... Der Weißwein den wir uns ausgesucht haben war nicht vorhanden... wir haben aber eine Empfehlung für einen anderen bekommen der vollkommen in Ordnung war. gegessen haben wir den Wolfsbarsch für 2 mit einem Preis von 54€...
Er kam mit Kartoffeln und Gemüse was wie auch alle anderen schon erwähnt haben super gegart und gewürzt war.... LEIDER viel zu wenig... selbst meine Freundin ist nicht satt geworden ... und die Desserts sind standarts aus der Tiefkühltruhe von denen 2 die ich haben wollte nicht da waren :-/ mit Trinkeld habe ich dort 98€ gelassen... ist ok aber wenn ich Hunger habe würde ich woanders hingehen

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant für einen touristischen Ort. Es gibt die Möglichkeit innen oder auf der Dachterrasse zu essen. In beiden Fällen wird an der Fischtheke sein essen frisch ausgesucht. Dieser wird dann vor den Augen der Gäste frisch zubereitet. Der Fisch ist ausgesucht und definitiv fangfrisch gewesen. Die Weinempfehlung war goldrichtig. Danke an den Service. Einen Punkt Abzug gab es wegen den Plastikstühlen und den nicht ganz so sauberen Decken Ende November. Preis Leistung eher im oberen Segment angesiedelt. 57€ ein Fisch für 2 Personen als Hauptgang.

Prijs niet in verhouding met de kwaliteit. Geen verse producten, geen vriendelijke service en de gerechten die niet goed bereid zijn. Een zeer middelmatige kwaliteit, wat het uitzicht niet kan compenseren ben ik bang. Voor halve prijs heb ik elders dezelfde gerechten namelijk 10 keer smakelijker gegeten.

We came here in search of some fine dining but were very disappointed from beginning to end. First of all, we got told by the waiter, upon ordering drinks, that he was making an exception for us as normally you're not allowed to order those before ordering a main (for fear you might just have drinks and leave). Then, you're also not allowed to get a starter before you order the main. To order the main you have to go upstairs to a board and speak to a fairly unpleasant chef to order fish, that by the way comes with a couple of pieces of broccoli and potatoes, and there's no variety there no matter what fish you order. The food was ok but the whole set up is absolutely silly and not up to par with the high prices. The bread we were served as part of the starter was stale too. Very mediocre experience for prices higher than mainland Europe.

I am only a child and I have been coming to A ruinà for TEN YEARS of my life and every year I come to Portugal there's not one time I never go to A ruinà!! The food is more than delicious! It is magnificent!! After me and my family come there is no fish left in the kitchen !!! And I can't forget to mention the staff !! They are now like family to me !! It is my favourite part of my holiday !!

I think we were a little under-dressed for this place, and weren't quite sure about the food as it appeared to be mostly fish and you had to visit a counter to choose your meal - the menu itself had little on it, but we chose the filet mignon ... oh my word! The best cut of meat I've tasted! That with the amazing views over the beach and out to sea.

I would say this restaurant was my favourite from a 2 week stay in Albufeira. I went with my parents and my wife and we had a lovely table up on the top floor terrace near the BBQ where all the fish was being cooked. The menu is a little different in that you go to a fresh counter and pick your fish and pay by weight. They also have meat on offer but the emphasis is clearly on fish. The 4 of us had a whole sea bass done on the bbq and served with vegetables- thankfully the waiter also filleted it for us and took that hassle away, but honestly it was a pleasure watching too. The food was gorgeous! Add to that the lovely setting and view over the bay and this place has it all. The deserts seem to come in 2 varieties - mass produced frozen items and then the home made items. I went for the home made Tiramisu which was simply stunning. Everyone else had home made desserts and thoroughly enjoyed them. The staff were lovely and made sure we had an excellent time. I'd totally recommend this place if you like fish, they had tons to choose from.

Four of us shared a golden sea bream. the price here was 60 euros per kilo whereas the night before we were paying 49 for better prepared and service. we even had to ask for lemon! My feeling is the restaurant lives by its location rather than service and quality of cooking!

We zijn 7 keer ik Portugal geweest, vele malen in een vakantie daar gegeten.
In 2010 zijn we na 8 jaar afwezigheid daar weer geweest, het personeel erkende ons nog. We krijgen daar altijd een Vip behandeling. En het eten is uitstekend als je van vis houd.

Las vistas desde la parte superior son muy bonitas.
El precio es elevado. El coste medio por persona puede rondar los 25€ (con agua o refresco).
