The tour and Anna specifically was fantastic. The walk is pretty easy. A bit of a climb at the end but shouldn't be difficult for anyone without serious mobility issues. Dont bring a stroller though. Anna was very patient at the end and provided lots of tips outside the area we were walking. Thanks Anna!
Bring water with you so you don't hold up the group.

We spent 3h with Chiuso our guide in the most interesting places of Lisbon one can only discover with a local. Chiuso is very knowledgeable about the history of Portugal and pays attention to the interests of all participants. We had a fun and entertaining tour and I definitely recommend Lisbon Chill Out. We did the same tour with them 4 years ago and we still learnt a lot today! Thanks Chiuso for being so passionate about Lisboa and for communicating that passion throughout the tour.

Randomly saw them recruiting at a placa in Lisbon. I had nothing planned so said why not? Anna turned out to be one of the best tour guides I've had! The tour is free but they ask that you tip them commensurate to your experience. She was worth at least $35 hands down. She was lively, fun, animated, funny! A good mix of history, culture, arts, and getting interaction with the crowd. Most importantly, she made us fall in love with Lisbon and shared about each neighborhood so by the end, I could distinguish each and felt comfortable navigating by myself. I'm so grateful for Anna!

We had an amazing 3 hours tour with Lisbon Chill Out. Our 2 guides were fun and made it really interesting to understand all the historical information. Even though it was raining like hell in the end, I would always do a tour with them again.
When locals explaining there city it is not a touristic walk it is more a stroy through the city and everything closes again in the end.

We joined the tour yesterday at city centre and we a bit disappointed for the tour. Our guide unable to answer the questions and need to Google afterwards.
The guide shared the history a bit too long (15 minutes at the beginning tour) and some of the guest were bored.
They will skip all the tourist attractions and we barely know about the buildings.
Maybe my expectations were too high since they got high scores from TripAdvisor and Google ratings.

Amazing English tour. Our guide Chiuzo was funny and informative. He really does like to give a local perspective on history and it was great to hear about the Carnation Revolution and the history of the Alfama neighborhood, and the devastation of the 1755 earthquake. We even got a bit of unplanned flavor when the tour got briefly stopped by police to let the Sporting Lisbon team drive past after they won the Taca de Portugal!
Chiuzo also had many recommendations for Fado, authentic Portuguese restaurants, and nightlife. He gave advice for public transit as well. Just a wonderful tour experience. Do this on your first day if at all possible.

Ana did a fantastic job explains history, culture and art about the city of Lisbon. She was personable and helped the group even individually with questions and we had about 40 people or so. It was a great time learning and walking around places that are off the beaten path. It was super enjoyable and I would recommend it to everyone.

Vandaag een tour gedaan met Ana. We liepen met maximaal 15 mensen. Ana is erg bekend met alle lokale gebruiken en de geschiedenis van de stad. Ze vertelt dit met een vleugje humor en betrekt de mensen bij het verhaal. Wat vooral fijn is, is dat het totaal geen commerciële wandeling is. Geen stop in een café, geen verkoop van andere tours. Echt alleen de wandeling met het verhaal van Lissabon. Een absolute aanrader hierdoor!

Read about the tour in Rick Steve's Portugal tour book. Great, fun, funny, and informative free walking tour of Lisbon's Bairro Alto, Chiado, Baixa, and Alfama neighborhoods. Not only did our guide cover history, she covered culture and what it is like to live in the city today as a local. Great to get a local's perspective on the city, along with many recommendations. Definitely recommend as an intro to the city.

Un precioso recorrido por los cuatro principales barrios de Lisboa: Baixa, Chiado, El Barrio Alto y La Alfama. Algo más de tres horas de recorrido que se hicieron muy cortas, en buena parte gracias al estupendo trabajo de Mariana, la guía local que nos acompaño en este recorrido. Nos enseño esta preciosa ciudad como ella la vive a diario, lejos de intereses meramente turísticos, algo muy de agradecer. En todo momento pendiente de que nuestra presencia causará el menor impacto posible en las gentes que viven allí. Haciéndonos interactuar con sus gentes para hacerles sentir la importancia que tienen. Compartiendo con nosotros sus lugares favoritos de la ciudad, sus restaurantes, los lugares donde escuchar el auténtico fado...
Una experiencia altamente recomendable. Muchas gracias por compartir todo esto con nosotros Mariana. Espero sinceramente encontrarme más gente como tu en mis próximos viajes, porque no dudare en utilizar los free tour allí donde vaya.
Por cierto los encontrarás en la Plaza Luis de Camoes y les distinguiras fácilmente por sus bolsos amarillos. El tour comienza a las diez así que es aconsejable que estéis un poco antes.

A perfect opportunity to start our Lisbon trip: funny and intriguing stories were told by our guide Andreia The spots selected encompass a variety of top sight seeing destinations of Lisbon.
Tip for elderly: since Lisbon is quite a hilly city, the speed of walk might be too high. Therefore, tours with a mini car and a driver guide is reccomendable.

So far we’ve been traveling a lot around Europe. To me the best way to explore any city is via the Free walking tours as normally the guides are local and know the city inside out. We’ve been in Barcelona, Madrid, Amsterdam, Rome, Paris, Berlin, Cologne... and many many more.. The fact is that the Lisbon Free Walking tour was beyond anything else we’ve ever had.
I must say that we’ve never met a guide like Anna. Honestly, this beautiful young lady was simply wonderful! She was so cool, so nice, so knowledgeable and with a great sense of humor. The way she presented the history and heritage of Lisbon made us think twice about coming back to the city. Of course, you will instantly fall in love of this city once you visit it, but it’s people like Anna who make the whole experience even better!
We will never forget the random little funny moments and jokes she made during the whole tour.
Thank you, Team and THANK you (Anna) for making our stay and overall experience so amazing!!!!
(Now we can literally say that we are totally in love with Lisbon!)

Más que un tour turístico es un paseo por Lisboa con un amigo, en nuestro caso José, que te acompaña y te muestra su ciudad. Aunque la visita dura más de tres horas se hace súper ameno. A estos chicos les gusta su trabajo, y eso no se puede disimular. Muy interesante la clase de "portuñol".

Nuno was a wonderful guide for our three-hour tour, March 15, tailoring the experience to our individual interests. We learned history, language, local restaurant recommendations, must-see museums, the best way to experience Fado, how to say cheers when you drink ginja and a great place to see the sunset in Lisbon. Be prepared for a long tour with lots of walking, but it is well worth it. The guides work on tips, and they want to be sure you have a great experience. I enjoy historic walking tours when I visit or move someplace new, and this one was excellent.

We were looking for a free walking tour with a local point of view and I think we couldn't have found better. Pedro offered us a complete overview of the history of Lisboa, showed us spots and told us stories that you wouldn't find with more mainstrem tour companies. Also, he made sure to know everyone in the group in order to adapt the tour to our interests. We covered the main 4 districts of Lisboa (Bairro Alto, Chiado, Baixa and Alfama) and it felt smooth and not tiresome at all.
P.S.: Besides being a good guide, Pedro is an amazing singer and comedian!

Walking tours are the best way to understand and Maria Ana was super helpful, her knowledge of the history of Lisbon was very intriguing. She was kind enough to give several recommendations for restaurants, bars, shops etc. The tour lasted 3 hours, we went into the narrosw streets where the locals live , it was a spectacular experience. Highly recommended .

In my opinion, I would recommend this tour to any traveler new to the area, looking for a quick history lesson about Lisbon.
Good Things:
Tour guide was funny and informative. The information given was easily digestible.
Note:
All of my scores start at a default of 3 stars. Based on my experience(s), I will increase or decrease the score accordingly.
Scoring Breakdown:
Plus one star for the price obviously. The tour is free in a sense that the tour guide isn't commissioned by any of the local restaurants. Also, it is a name your own price tour. So the amount you pay at the end is based on your own perceived value.
Plus one star for the tour guides ability to keep everyone entertained and engaged. Many times, tour guides will often list our fact after fact, and becoming boring.
Actual Experience:
Arrived to the meeting point at 3 pm / 15:00. Found the tour guide with the recycled yellow bag. After all of the tour attendees were rounded up, the group was given an overview of the tour. I don't want to spoil the specifics of the tour so I will provide a general overview of what our tour guide did. We were brought to various spots and given some background on the locations. The tour guide specifically states that they are not an official guide but a natvie that provides their own insight on historic sites. Think of it as a history lesson with a bit of flair. I learned about things, that I would not have noticed by wandering around aimlessly. The tour takes around 3 hours.

Fantastic experience of walking around Lisbon with Luis! My husband and I love going on walking tours when visiting a new place as its the best way to learn about the city from a local guide. And thats precisely why the guide needs to be good! Luis was one of the better guides we have walked with in our experience. He kept the group interested, entertained and interactive. He is full of stories, history facts and really helped us get a feel for the different neighborhoods of Lisbon, and gave us good recommendations for food, wine and Fado spots! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a free walking tour! Thanks Luis!

Highly recommend this free walking tour. We took one with Nuno, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. 3hrs full of information and lots of laughs. We got a great over view but also tons of little known information. If we were staying longer in Lisbon we would have loved to have gone on another tour with them. It seems every guides walk is different and it’s also adaptive depending on the group that gathers and their interests.
We went on the afternoon walk which started at 3pm, it was good for the late start to the day, but I think the morning 10am one would be great if you want to revisit sights or areas after the tour.
This is a must. Good for first timers, if you are alone or a couple, (groups should email them), and if you want some local insights.

It was a very enjoyable walking tour! The guide Nuno was very nice and shared some interesting information about the city’s history & architecture and gave use useful tips on restaurants, public transportations etc. It was 3 hours but they went by so fast and it was not tiring at all. I do recommend it.
Also, all the people in my group were very nice, I really liked their company!

Amazing guided tour totally out of the tourist track. Maria Ana gave us an amazing overview of Portugal history and anthropology to introduce us to Lisbon. I already had an entire morning roaming around the city and quite a good knowledge of the architectural language but after the tour I felt I could "feel" the city soul and enjoy it deeply.
A must if you are in Lisbon even just for one day.

Time flies by when you’re having fun! Dorotea was our tour guide and she made 3-hours go by very quickly. She goes the extra mile by actually getting to know the group members - not as an act but out of genuine interest in the individuals, she is engaging, a mine of information, shares her personal experiences and gives recommendations of what to do/see/avoid, oh and gives free lessons on Portuguese language during the tour. This is a great way to get some history and local insider info .best to do it as soon as you get to Lisbon. Dorota, our guide, has Lovingly adopted Portugal as her home and her exuberance for the city and country is infectious .
Our teenagers loved it as much as the adults did .

We went on a free walking tour with José on the first morning we were in Lisbon. We really enjoyed the tour. He took us all over the city on a what ended up being a 4-Hour tour. We really enjoyed that we would stop in busy spots and José would always help make sure we were good tourists and not block other people from going about their everyday lives.We gave a tip at the end of the tour but in retrospect would have paid a fee from the very start as we learned so much both about the history of food the people and the local perspective of Lisbon.
We highly recommend this tour if you are in Lisbon!!

it was the first free tour that i had and i totally enjoyed it. Anna and Antonio the took us to very nice places of the city and told us interesting stories about those. i didn't get bored even for a minute. i liked that the didn't get us to the popular turistic places but to more special places. They talked about history, culture, music and habits that people in portugal have. I totally recomende it, enjoy!

Tive uma grata surpresa ao participar deste tour. Foram quase 3,5 horas onde pude conhecer varios pontos turísticos de Lisboa desde o Chiado, Cidade Baixa, Alfama e área do Castelo de São Jorge e mais do que isto, conhecer os detalhes, a história que está por trás de cada um dos pontos por onde passamos. Na realidade o que fez este tour diferente foi a guia Inês que nos deu uma aula de história, literatura e arquitetura não só através de seu excelente conhecimento mas também através de sua paixão por Lisboa. Ela falava com o coração e isto fez com que o tour ficasse acima das expectativas. A Inês foi excepcional.

I attended the tour on Sept 23,2018 and had a wonderful experience. The guide Padro is great introducing local communities , history in his unique and sarcastic ways. So impressed! He also gave great recommendation on restaurants and Fado pubs. Very localized experience which we couldn't discover by tourists like us.

I loved this tour. They took us through the least touristic but super nice parts of the city. We learnt quite a lot about Portugal's history. We went on Monday 08.10.2018 at 10:00 am with our amazing super friendly and fun tourist guide Chiuzo. He was incredible and recommended us quite a few interesting places. We really loved this tour. Highly recommended!

Awesome tour with Nuno the morning of October 17. The tours are tailor made to the interests of the group, and provide a thorough and easily understood history of Lisbon. Definitely a great way to get acquainted or re-acquainted with the city.

We had a great tour with Rafael and Mariana. We had been exploring Lisbon for 3 days and thought we had done a good job - but these guys left us with so many more things to do, see and try! A great insight into Lisbon, and I would recommend chatting with the guides after the end of the tour. They recommended spots for the sunset and for dinner which were both amazing. Wir waren gerade mit Ines ca. 3 Stunden unterwegs und sind begeistert! Wir haben Lissabon mit historischen und persönlichen Details untermalt und aus Sicht eines locals präsentiert bekommen und dabei Menschen und Örtlichkeiten wahrgenommen, die wir auf eigene Faust nicht so gesehen und erlebt hätten. Auch wenn Ines die Tour bestimmt schon hundert mal gemacht hat, hat man das Gefühl, dass sie mit Leidenschaft dabei ist und detailverliebt jedem Touristen erneut ihre Stadt näherbringen möchte. Wer gut zu Fuß ist, dem ist diese Tour zu 100% zu empfehlen!

Had a great tour with the Polish girl (I'm horrible with names sorry) and it was one of the best tours I've done in the last 2 months. She did a fantastic job throughout and kept everyone entertained the whole time. The stories and history, as well as what you learn about the people, place and culture can only be discovered with a walking tour like this. Well worth !

Quina gran experiència compartir els coneixements d'en Pedro, el guia autòcton, que ens va transmetre el seu entusiasme amb molt de rigor i estima de molts racons de la meravellosa ciutat. Excellent tour, charming, funny and knowledgeable guide, great off the beaten track, we learned a lot about the city that was super helpful since we were there for a month.... highly recommend....and we were fortunate enough to accidentally meet Time Magazine person of the year on a backstreet in the Alfama, can’t say it will happen for every tour, but certainly a highlight for ours !! Our guide gave us lots of excellent recommendations that we continued to reference throughout our stay

Absolutamente recomendable, seguramente el mejor free tour que hemos hecho (y ya van unos cuantos) nuestra guía, Inés fue la mejor embajadora de la ciudad que te puedes esperar. Nos contó un montón de datos curiosos que no aparecen en los libros o guías de la ciudad. El tour duró unas 3 horas y realmente lo recomiendo a todo el mundo que visite Lisboa.

This is a great tour! Our small group (about 10 people) got to see lots of interesting sights and learned about the long and storied history of Lisbon. The guide, Inez, was friendly and personable and happy to answer any questions we had. She also gave us some recommendations for other things to see once the tour finished.

Un gran tour con mucha onda por un guía local que no se guardó nada. A la hora de terminar preguntó si estábamos cansados y si queríamos seguir recorriendo y nos llevó a lugares hermosos que no estaban incluidos y terminamos en un mirador. Terminó siendo un tour de unas 4 horas en lugar de las 2 horas y media planificadas. Un gesto que no vi en ninguno de los free Tours que hice en toda mi vida viajera. Muchas gracias!

My husband and I went on the tour with José. We had an excellent time seeing Lisbon through his eyes, the eyes of a local. We learnt many new things along the way and enjoyed his funny anecdotes. In this tour, the main sites that we have or will visit anyway we’re mostly bypassed in preference for giving us a local experience. As it was a small group of only four tourists, it didn’t feel like we were being lectured to like other tours, it was more like a friendly conversation. José kindly spent time at the end giving us excellent restaurant recommendations. He answered all our questions, including how the local transport system worked, to help us get around the city easier. I would certainly recommend this tour.

Una primera toma de contacto con Lisboa muy completa y amena de la mano de Chiuzo.
El guía nos hizo un recorrido de tres horas por las zonas más emblemáticas del casco antiguo de la ciudad. Chiuzo nos contó la historia de Lisboa y muchas anécdotas distintas. Tuvimos la suerte de ser solo mi chico y yo así que la ruta fue como visitar Lisboa con un amigo.
No me pareció la típica ruta turística.
Además nos recomendó cantidad de sitios para seguir visitando y para comer o cenar y nos dio consejos útiles para movernos.

We had a great time during the tour. The group was not too big and the guide provided us with a lot of interesting information as well as some tips on where to go and where not to go.
The tour covered a large part of the city and avoided the main tourist attractions.

If you don't know absolutely anything about Portugal and more in particular about Lisbon, this is the best learning experience you can have! Dies war unsere erste Free-Walking-Tour und wir sind mehr als begeistert.
Das Team von Chillout Lisbon ist relativ klein und authentisch, was uns sehr gefallen hat. Unser Guide war Emilie. Man hat sofort gemerkt wie gut sie sich in Lissabon auskennt und es liebt von ihrer Stadt zu erzählen. Man konnte ihr sehr gut zuhören und sie schaffte von Anfang an eine entspannte Atmosphäre. So konnte man jederzeit Fragen stellen und die Tour und die Themen individuell mitbestimmen. Wir haben einen tollen Überblick über die Stadtteile Chiado, Baixa, Alfama und Bairro Alto bekommen und sind größtenteils abseits der typischen Touristenfade gegangen.
Insgesamt war es ein gutes Zusammenspiel zwischen Geschichte, Kultur und Insidertipps! Wir können diese Tour nur jedem empfehlen, der nicht ein Standard Touristen Programm bekommen möchte! Danke Emelie für diese schönen 3 Stunden!

We had heard about this tour and tried it while we were in town. Marianna did an amazing job of keeping the somewhat large group of around 30 people from all around the world entertained, informed and most importantly together...The deep local knowledge is powerful and most valuable when shared in an unbiased way as is the case here: the guides don’t take any commissions from restaurants or other tourist traps and can in return be very candid about where you should and shouldn’t be spending your time and money while in Lisbon. The walk covers 4 of the most important neighborhoods in around 3 hours and happens twice a day at 10am and 3pm. Meeting point is the statue on the Praça Luís de Camões. If you can handle the walk covering some of the hills in the city, you should absolutely do this over spending your money on red or yellow buses! The tour is free but essentially donation-based and trust you will not regret compensating this amazing team of guides at the end of the tour (when they share their personal ‘best of Lisbon’ places in town).

One of the best tours we ever had! Even though it lasted in the end 3,5h we enjoyed every minute of it and weremuch less exhausted than we ever expected. Ana delivered the best tour I've ever been to, and I've been to quite a few. She's full of energy, passionate about her city, and went out of her way to help us understand what makes this city special. Ana explained some of the history of the city in the most fun way possible. I loved when we stopped in Alfama and a lady popped out to talk to us while Ana translated, it doesn't get any better than that. I highly recommend that you support local guides like Ana.

Our guide, Mariana, spoke excellent English, was knowledgeable about history and culture, geared the tour toward the group’s preferences, and had a great sense of humor. She even gave tips about where to eat and how to avoid pickpockets. We were especially touched by her heart for the people of this city.
Chill-Out Lisbon is a local enterprise and well worth supporting. And it’s free!

Absolutely loved this tour! Our guide was Ana. She went out of her way to explain some amazing details about lisbon and took us down roads we would have never discovered. She also told us some amazing history that helped us understand so many parts of the cities landscape, architecture and culture. Emily was one of the best guides I’ve had. I do walking tours in every city I go to and she was definitely one of the best. This tour is great because you walk through different neighborhoods of the city. It’s a great blend of history of the city and Portugal overall, and tourist tips like where to eat. Also, this tour company doesn’t work off commissions from referrals, so there’s no ulterior motive for their recommendations. To compare, I did another free walking tour in Lisbon by another company, and it wasn’t even close. Chill Out Lisbon was so much better! We had a big group but it felt very close knit and it was easy to hear and ask questions. You must do this tour! Thanks Emily!

This free tour led by Emily was amazing. She took us in a three (3) hour tour around Lisbon showing us various areas, suggesting places to see/things to do, food to eat, and providing the group with a great history lesson from way back all the way to present time. This was a phenomenal tour given it was free and we all gave some form of gratuity/tip to Emily for her great service. Make sure you have a 3.5 to 4 hour window blocked out as we were almost late for our dinner reservation. Make sure you look for the person with a yellow shoulder bag stating free tour and stay away from the umbrellas (from what I’ve been told). Note: you don’t start and end at the same place, either, so plan for a 30 mins hike (on foot) to get back to your starting place. I highly recommend this tour.

I’m in my fourth country in Europe thus far, enrolling in free walking tours throughout the way and this tour was the best tour I have ever had :) my tour guide was Emily - she was very knowledgeable, engaging and passionate about Portugal and Portuguese culture, which I found inspiring. You could tell she genuinely cared about the members of the group - consulting our interests and any requests we had. Her hospitality and story telling were phenomenon! I highly recommend this tour company - best to support local knowledge and companies when possible, rather than going to bigger chains. Thank you for the tour!

This tour was great! It was led by 2 guides - one was the guy who started the company, a very interesting Portuguese guy, and the other a half Portuguese/half Swedish woman (i sadly cannot remember their names!). They were both so animated and enthusiastic, drawing you in to hear more about their city and culture. It was very fun and interesting, highly recommended!!

We (family of 4 adults) took this tour on Thurs May 24. Our guides, Ana and Chiuso (sp?) were excellent. The pace was relaxed; we saw all of the major Lisbon neighborhoods and learned quite a bit about the city's history. Since it was raining at times, they expertly guided us to sheltered spots when they wanted to stop and talk. The "pay what you wish" terms were clearly spelled out at the beginning and repeated at the end, but with absolutely no high pressure sales tactics at all. Highly recommended.

Die Tour war großartig... wenn Lehrer Geschichtsunterricht genau so charmant und witzig komprimieren würden, wie schön wäre Schulunterricht... die Tour dauerte 3 Stunden und führte ca. 5 km durch Lissabon, meist abseits der normalen touri-Pfade.. man erfährt viel über Land und Leute, kann sich Orte speichern, zu denen man später für nähere Besichtigung zurück kehren kann.. sehr schön und vielseitig. Really liked my tour with Pedro -- he was so knowledgeable and shared so much information with us about Lisboa and the Portuguese. He tried to make sure everyone's doubts and questions were answered and recommended some nice places to see a bit of the city with a nice view during sunset. They're a small company which is precisely why I picked them and I was glad I did. Initially, I thought I was late to the tour because my time zone wasn't updated, but then I realized I was an hour early! Miguel communicated with me to give me some suggestions of a nie place to go to nearby so I could spend my hour well and not waste it waiting around for the tour guide. Great company and great tour!

Take care you attach yourself to the right tour. This is the good free one and not one of the tourist traps that also operate from this location. It’s indeed totally free, but naturally these guys need to survive, so don’t forget the tip at the end of the three hour tour. Our guide Miguel was very knowledgeable, reasonably funny, kind of leftist and very very chauvinistic. But everything he told was brought with good humor and we had an excellent afternoon. Highly recommended.

Today I've been approached by one of your tour guys. After spending whole week in Lisbon being bombarded by strangers wanting something from me I've learnt to ignore them. In this case your tour guy started being extremely obnoxious and very unfriendly trying to 'teach me' that I should always politely reply. How rude one have to be to talk in this way to a complete stranger? If this is a snipped of the quality service you provide then I dread to think how the rest of it look like. I would highly recommend staying away from this tour company. The guys selling illegally marijuana on the street have better manners then the personnel of this tour operator

Lisbon Chill Out Guided free walk tours was a lovely experience. Jose sold us to go with them instead of the branded mnc free tour group. Ana with all her energy, enthusiasm and voice took us to a 3.5hr walk tour. And honestly we covered much more than what we could have done on our own. The historical details, taking us through the Alfama area, the river views from the top, the ginger wine tasting, familiarity with local words and systems, taking in our multitude of questions.... everything was good .. the steep walking was good exercise too. We were a 40+ guys group on bachelor trip and honestly Ana was superb. I strongly reccomend that you give a shot to these guys for free guided walking tours. We had a wonderful overview of Lisbon and its history by our guide, Ines. She had a group of 22 people; four were English native language speakers. She gave her tour in fluent English that all could understand. The tour was three hours. I recommend her!

I did the tour with Nuno, and it was a great choice. The tour was interesting, thorough and lasted 3 hrs walking through all the main neighborhoods of Lisbon. Nuno was engaged and funny and he mentioned he was a fine arts graduate. It’s great when your guides have a deep wealth of knowledge and enjoy what they are doing. I recommend him. (16th March 2018)

On my first time visiting Lisbon we took the Free Walking Tour with Ines. The tour is the perfect way to learn about Lisbon, its history, culture, food and people. Ines has the ability to tell stories in a way that make you shiver. We all had goose bumps when she talked about the earthquake or the revolution!
Unfortunately individual members of our group were excessively hungry for knowledge and Ines really did her job and tried to answer every question, so it was more standing and talking while we hoped it would be more walking and seeing.
But we got a very good impression of the city and some helpful hints where to go and where not to. If you want to see the things that are not in your guidebook, take the tour!

Acredito que fazer os free Tours é a melhor maneira de conhecer de verdade a história por onde passamos. O tour é muito divertido, enriquecedor, afinal você pode descobrir muitas coisas sobre a cidade que talvez nunca saberia se não conversasse mais afundo sobre a história com quem realmente conhece sobre a cidade/país. O nosso guia foi o José (muito divertido, atencioso e dedicado a esclarecer todas as dúvidas do percurso). Legal é fazer logo nos primeiros dias, pois você aproveita o passeio pra "sentir" o clima da cidade. O percurso foi do baixa-chiado até alfama finalizando no maravilhoso Miradouro da Glória. Vale muito a pena fazer.

Essa é nossa forma preferida de conhecer as cidades que viajamos. Sempre procure os Free Tours (ao final vc colabora com o valor que achar que deve, é livre). Gosto de fazer esses tour já no primeiro dia para dar um panorama do local. Fizemos o tour com o José. Foi excelente! São guias locais que mesclam a história oficial com histórias que eles escutam desde pequenos e lendas. É muito divertido. O trajeto percorreu baixa-chiado até alfama finalizando no maravilhoso Miradouro da Glória.

We originally booked for a Sandeman's tour at the same meeting point, but our attention was drawn to the very charismatic tour guides from chill out free tours. We joined their tour instead and it was the best decision!
The tour from our guide Miguel, was unique and it really felt like we got an authentic feel for the city of Lisbon. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the city!

Elegimos este tour por las opiniones y no nos equivocamos.
El recorrido no visita los sitios más turísticos, pero sí sitios importantes que dan pie a explicar la historia de Lisboa de forma amena, y acaba con una vista espléndida de la ciudad en la Alfama. Al acabar nos recomendaron restaurantes y sitios donde escuchar fado que no defraudaron. Además de que el contenido del tour estuviera bien, se preocupan por la forma. Se presentan como una compañía de gente local que ha intentado buscar una solución a una situación económica difícil e intentan que el impacto del grupo en la calle sea el mínimo para el resto de transeúntes. Lo único negativo es que el grupo era demasiado grande, pero era el puente de la Constitución y estaba abarrotado de españoles.

Horrible experience - Our guide was Miguel and he was just talking about himself and saying bad stuff about other countriues/people which is really not a good thing especially when you are a tour guide representing a whole country. I would not recommend.

Wir waren mit Luiz/Ludwig unterwegs und es waren 3 sehr informative und unterhaltsame Stunden. Man sieht nicht unbedingt die Touristen Hotspots dafür aber bekommt man das Gefühl wirklich in die Nachbarschaften Lissabons einzutauchen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Super Tour, sehr empfehlenswert! Habe die Tour direkt am ersten Tag in Lissabon gemacht, so hat man nochmal einen besseren Überblick über die Stadt bekommen, kam an Ecken, die man sonst vielleicht nicht gefunden hätte und hat viele Informationen erhalten. In den drei Stunden sieht man echt super viel von der Stadt.

If you are in Lisbon, I couldn't recommend anything else more than a walk with the chill out tours. Our tour guide was Gabriela, who was very informative, funny and knowledgeable about the city. The difference between this tour (run by locals) and others is that you get a good dose of Portuguese culture and you learn things that you wouldn't find out from a conventional tour guide. My girlfriend and I have been to a few free tours before, but we can easily say that this was probably one of the best. Totally Recommend!!!

Our tour was guided by the illustrious Miguel and why on Earth would you rate it anything less than 5 stars? Miguel gave us many wonderful presentations about the rich history of both Portugal and Lisbon along the way. Immensely well spoken, Miguel can take you on a more personal journey of Lisbon with Enigmatic ease. His poetic prowess is apparent and his eye for the obscure enlightening.

Já é a segunda vez que faço esse tour! O fiz no ano passado quando vim à Lisboa pela primeira vez e fiquei tão encantada pela história da cidade, por suas belas paisagens e por seu povo tão acolhedor que decidi estudar aqui. Aproveitei que cheguei na semana passada e fui novamente passear por suas ruas e bairros com o pessoal da Chill Out. Foram 2h30 de muita informação, caminhada agradável e ótimas histórias! O grupo estava grande, em torno de 25 pessoas, e com diversas nacionalidades, o que não foi empecilho para que o trabalho do guia José fosse muito bem feito.
Foi uma tarde de muita aprendizagem que no final rendeu ótimas fotos no miradouro da Graça, onde o tour acabou, com um lindo por do sol sobre Lisboa!
Um programa que vale muito a pena ser feito por todos que passam por aqui e que deve ser reconhecido por quem busca por informações de qualidade!

Thoroughly enjoyable morning (7 Aug) with a large group, about 20 people, but very personal and engaging, with a strong sense of being an authentic local perspective, respectful and sustainable with great insights into the life of the city.
Pedro was so professional, even inspiring, with great stories, poetry and even song!
I have traveled all over the world and this is probably the best tour I have done.

Was a big day, make sure you have good walking shoes and water. Tour is about 3 hours you see a lot of historic and cool sites around Lisbon. Pedro, our guide, was excellent. He has a great knowledge of Portuguese history and also great places to eat and drink at. He even knows Cristiano Ronaldo!

Ana was a great guide! Really knowledgable on the history of Lisbon, as well as being energetic and positive! It was a great tour and definitely worth it. The tour lasted about 3 hours.

Tour réalisé avec rafa en anglais. Espagnol possible avec un autre guide. Le tour était vraiment génial. Rafa nous a permis de voir certains quartiers de la ville autrement. Vraiment intéressant et une très belle expérience.

Excellent tours, Luis was very knowledgeable and a real story-teller. Three hours from Luis de Camoes square, down through Baixa and up to Alfama and Gracia, to learn so much about Lisbon and Portugal, history, architecture and traditions. Highly recommended!

Eine sehr informative und angehneme City-tour. Es findet jeden Tag um 10 Uhr morgens und um 16 Nachmittags statt. Wir habe das Tour mit Luis (Luigi) gehabt. Ein außerordentlich informierter und angenehmer Stadtführer! Sehr aufmerksam und es liegt ihm wirklich am Herzen es sehr gut zu machen! Nimmt euch Zeit dafür - es lohnt sich wirklich!!!

Having Rafa as a guide was like having a local friend show you around the city; our tour was thoughtful, personal and gave us a different perspective on Lisboa - thoroughly recommend! Liz and Adam (we went on the spanish (portañol!) tour but there are also ones in english, there may be other languages too)

Awesome experience! We walked 7 km through the whole city for 3 hours and I didn't feel tired at all ..Just sad that it was over that fast hahah :) The guide ( ours was Ines) gives great tips on whatever you ask them : where to eat , what to visit , bars to go etc etc.Don't miss it if you visit Lisbon !

Our tour guide was Gabriella. She was hilarious, genuine, and very informative. The tour gives you a good glimpse of what it's like to be a citizen of Lisbon. Fully equipped with a visit to Carmelinda, the local Alfama abuela who brews her own artisanal gin. Haha, it was awesome. Just do it, nothing to lose.
Oh and don't be a cheapskate. Show your generosity to your guide. Xoxo

If you want a tour that is genuinely interesting with information you're not going to find in your lonely planet guide, this is a must. Rafa, our guide, was so passionate about Lisboa he made us completely fall in love with the city. Do. Not. Miss. This.

Excellent principe,
une visite de la ville de près de 4 heures en Décembre par une belle journée ensoleillée.
Raphael notre guide a su nous faire découvrir Lisbonne, son histoire architecture avec passion, humour et une grande gentillesse.
La visite se fait en Anglais, du coup nous étions avec de nombreuses nationalités, très sympa.
A la fin de la visite chacun évalue la balade et rémunère le guide.
leur organisation vit grâce à cette rémunération.
nous avons adoré et avons donc donné en conséquence.
C'était bien mérité, j'espère que vous aurez autant de plaisir que nous.

Ho fatto un tour con Miguel e uno con Nuno: ragazzi preparatissimi e simpatici. Ognuno ti porta nella propria Lisbona. Da fare assolutamente!!!!
