We spent a week at Alvor Kitesurf Center in combination with the Guesthouse (package-deal). From the beginning till the end: it was all fantastic!! Great service like pickup at the airport, transfers during the week, every day nice breakfast, quick respons on questions or needs, reservations made for the very good restaurants, barbecue-party, etc. These guys know what they are doing: support and spoil you in every way they can! The kite-instructors were relaxed in teaching us the kiting. Safety first in everything: the boat is staying at the spot during the lessons. The kitespot itself was absolutely fabulous! We came as tourists and left as friends! I would really recommend the Alvor Kitesurf Center and ofcours the Guesthouse too!

Ich kann leider die negativen Bewertungen nur bestätigen. Die Kite-Ausbilder haben mich bedroht und mich mit aggressiven Drohgebärden (haben mich mit Ihrem Boot absichtlich angefahren) versucht einzuschüchtern. Der Grund dafür: ich war angeblich in "ihrer" Kitezone, jedoch lässt sich das bei Ebbe in der Lagune nicht wirklich vermeiden, besonders wenn man noch nicht super erfahren ist. Eigentlich ein Fall für die Polizei, aber wenn man in einem fremden Land ist, ist man da etwas vorsichtig, besonders wenn der Kite-Urlaub noch ein paar Tage dauern soll.

Si les débutants ne vous intéressent pas, ne prenez pas leur nom et numéro en leur faisant croire que vous les rapellerez. Nous avons perdu notre journée à attendre!!! A 140 euros les 3 heures de cours. Allez voir ailleurs.

I have been agressed by one of the instructors while riding on the zone. totally unprofessional, and dangerous. He has activated my chickenloop while I was waiting for my son on the beach, that was riding with me . A complete crazy guy. My son and other riders can confirm as they have seen the scene.

I am a firsttimer in Alvor, wanted to learn how to kite on the water spending five days here. I went to Alvor Kitesurf Center by the harbour and two guys where carrying equipment into the storage room. I told one of the guys my mission, and he asked for my phone number so he could contact me via sms and give me a message about the course next day. I was told to meet at 1330h next day. I did not receive any message, but assumed they had forgotten me. So next day I show up at 1315h. One of the business owners ask what I am doing there in a very unfriendly tone. I told him as above, and his answer was that that was one of beachstaff and had nothing to do with the lessons/ course/ booking. (How could I know? The beachstaff guy acted as he was the man) The owner told me, also in an rude way how I should have done it, and that I could put my name and phone number on a list again, and MAYBE, maybe they called me in for tomorrow. By now at 1900h I haven't recvied any sms. This mean that I could "be in line" for all my stay of five days, and have to leave Alvor without having one lesson/ course. Luckily I got a private three day course in Lagos tomorrow, but this means logistic issues due to transportation to Lagos return, wich is a 20 minutes drive away. Anyway, if you still want to book with these cowboys, do it via mail/ internet prior to your arrival as drop in/ stand in line did not work for me this time and gave me a bad experience.

Alvor kite center works with Peaceful Waves : the best surf school around !!! Paulo is an amazing instructor who really loves what to teach and spend time in the water with his students :) we were a group of 3 and had an amazing surfing week with him - great tips and great vibes !! Hope to come back soon Paulo ;)

As part of our holiday trip to Portugal, we wanted to get a feeling for what kitesurfing is about. We looked up some clubs and organizations and saw some of the bad reviews this club had, nevertheless we still wanted to give it a shot because other options were further away. Arriving at the place, we were still a bit sceptical because the place didnt look very professional. There we spoke to one of the instructors walking around and agreed that we wanted to take a 3 hour lesson the next day, learning the beginnings of kiting. Later that day the guy we spoke to messaged us that the conditions were good and that they expected to go out at 3 in the afternoon. Next day, we arrived at the place and we helped loading the boat and got all geared up. Once we arrived at our beach with the boat the instructors gave us clear instructions on how to setup your equipment and get some basic excercises done. In total we were 6 beginners, helped by 3 patient, friendly instructors. Even if things didnt go as planned they stayed calm and helped us. They all spoke english one of them even spoke dutch. The initiation in total lasted from 3 untill 7 in the evening, none of the monitors was complaining that the trip took longer than 3 hours or that he had to work with beginners etc. (Like some other people that complained in reviews) The total package, the 4 hours, which included the boat ride to the beach, kites, boards, wetsuits, costed 140 euros euros per person. Looking back, it's almost a no-brainer. We enjoyed our short trip with the crew and strongly recommend this small, cosy club full of humble real surfer people.

A pity I did not read the other negative reviews saying the school is not professional and they 'keep you waiting'. I contacted them way before my trip via email, they said they would text me the day before and they did not..I sent them an email (no reply by phone) to ask what happened, they replied there was not enough wind (forecast and actual wind was 20 knots...) and they contact you only if there is wind. I asked how much wind they need, but never heard from them since. Luckily the following days I contacted another school and managed to rent kite with exactly the same wind conditions. What is the reason of this attitude I do not know, but they have done this with others, so all in all, better not waste your time with them there are better kite schools in Lagos.

Amazing spot with all you need conditions to enjoy your hollidays . A must visit at Algarve . 5* vibe and fun !

I spent five days here with my two kids, daughter 12 and son 14, we stayed at the house, which is two minutes from restaurants and two minute walk from their centre. They could not have been more helpful from booking to me moving my booking on a day or two due to unforeseen circumstances. The house is great, it’s got a pool, kitchen tv lounge and a mix of rooms to choose from and good internet(given the thumbs up by my son) we were there to kite, I can my son had done a little and my daughter none. There were tons of staff, all helpful and seasoned teachers and super friendly. I run staff and a paragliding school so it’s good to see a like minded business making a great job of it. The venue for kiting is great, their equipment top notch and the pace for both kids was perfect. I’ve seen some sloppy instructors in my time but I couldn’t fault them. The kids were super happy, and the boat trip out was the icing on the cake.... no tiring walks after a long day in the sea. We’re planning our next visit!

Very hostile, insulting and unprofessional manner. Found out afterwards while conducting further inquiries among other surf/kitesurf schools and shops about the owner; that the owner has a rather bad reputation among the kitesurfing community. Don't book with this school. There is other much better and with better prices.

We were disappointed given the previous reviews. Very expensive compared to other places we used later in the week. A 3 lesson only gave us about 1.5 hours of kiting. The rest was loading and unloading the boat and sorting kit. The instruction was good but we had to ask for it at times! Communication wasn't great and they promised to get back in touch when the wind improved and they never did.

Excellent accommodation in an amazing location. Private double rooms have access to the pool and garden. 5 min walk from centre of Alvor. Staff available to talk to all day. Boat transfer and rescue service included with accommodation. Perfect for beginners or experienced riders alike. All standards of lessons offered as well as advanced coaching. Can't recommend highly enough. Thanks for a great time.

Trust me, Alvor Kite Center is definitely the best place out there! Great lessons from experienced and very responsible kite surf instructors, good equipment (also to rent) and stayed in the guesthouse (with pool). The accommodation is very close to the kite surf school, beach and the city centre (main street is around the corner), so we were very happy we have chosen this one. Nelson (co-owner) and his team really made our stay. These people do the best they can to make your holiday unforgettable, so I would definitely recommend this place to everyone! And... make sure you don't miss the (weekly) barbecue! Alvor is a good place to learn kitesurfing, and they will bring you by boat to a spot with not to many other kiters, no waves and shallow water. More experienced kiters don't have to be bored, as there are nice waves as well. Me and my sister stayed in the standard 2-person bedroom, with airco and access to the pool and garden. Free breakfast in the morning is served at the rooftop terrace (nice panorama). The guest house was quiet and relaxed, but you can easily get in contact with the other guests if you want. We spend a week in Alvor, but could have stayed longer, as you can also visit Lagos etc. Hope you'll have as much fun as we had, and good luck with the kite!

Alvor Kite Center is a truly, one of kind unique kiteschool where customer intimacy is performed as an art. The co-owner Nelson Nunes makes sure you'll have the best kitesurf holiday ever. Very good material, excellent kite instructor (Jakob!) and an impeccable service. All is done by Nelson to make your holiday unforgettable. On windy days the lagoon is great both for beginners as more experienced kitesurfers. On days lacking sufficient wind, you can use Nelson's SUP-boards, go to the wakeboard park or just discover the environment. I stayed in the guesthouse with pool of Alvor Kite Center which was top notch in hygiene, comfort, space and wifi, located just at the harbour. The service was perfect with a great, fresh breakfast each day. For those who aim for the best, go for the ultimate kitesurf holiday at Alvor Kite Center. Nelson will take care of you as I've never seen before in all my years!

I can't thank and praise these guys enough. Nelson is the most helpful guy and helped us run our uni trip to Alvor so smoothly. Only just got back to work and miss it all so much. The spot is gorgeous and I can't wait to see you again in the summer! :) Much love!
