DREARY place, keep away!... The owner was not there to greet us when we arrived & we had no help with our luggage up the many stairs... His indications about what to visit were scarce and confusing, we didn't even get a fair map of Sintra!... The whole place is old and dated, the curtains and the bed-linen were aged and showed signs of wearing (ex: the comforter was yellowish on the inside...) Room got hot very quickly and there was always a musty smell when we got back from our day trips every evening, forcing us to ventilate for about 20 min by opening all the windows... Also, the shower tub didn't flow, so water kept accumulating in the shower cabin. Besides, breakfast hours were very reduced, only from 9:30 to 10:30 am, which is particularly unpractical for people who intend to visit Sintra's palaces, which all open their gates at 9:30... The check-out was also set from 9:30 am, which is again troublesome, for many international flights are scheduled very early in the morning... Not to mention daily cleaning, which was planned between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, forcing guests to hand in their only (!) key of the room in the middle of the day!!! Not very convenient for people who plan to visit Sintra, and not just lurk about the hotel, which, by the way, is situated quite far from the city center and fairly high up, which makes for a long & tiresome walk back every evening... All this made up for a very disappointing stay for us, we wouldn't recommend this place to anyone intending to actually visit Sintra & its palaces... You need to be located nearer the town center and hopefully in a hotel that has at least a functioning front desk, which was not the case for this B&B, for which we ended up paying more than 200 dollars a night for practically no service... There is nothing romantic about losing one's money & time... AVOID this place at all costs, it's not worth neither the expense nor the effort of getting there.

Probably the nicest hotel residence there is in Sintra. Nice managers, has pool, great service, close to the center of the village, close driving distances to Lisbon.
