Alex is a great instructor who has a lot of passion for BJJ. I really like his way of teaching and the space is very good- excellent mats!

Good facility, nice mats, cool team and a very driven black belt instructor called Alex.
I had the pleasure to train with Alex Pereira and his team during my Holliday in Peniche (Portugal) which is known for great beaches and surfing.
I recommend this place to everyone that’s looking to train Brazilian jiu jitsu in Portugal!

Awesome place to train at if you are in Peniche. Alex is a great technical teacher, speaks perfect English, is very accomadating. Prices are fair. Decent size space, good quality mats. I would recommend this place for all training levels.

Alex is a great teacher. Very knowledgeable. I was made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed his coaching. Alex's unique drills with the swiss ball were especially enjoyable. One would benefit greatly from mastering these drills, both for BJJ and mobility in general. I hope to return in the future for sure.

I'm a 53yr whitebelt training out of Finn Fighters in Turku, Finland. I'm also a member of the BJJ Globetrotter community. Hence, I'm always looking for new places and people to train with, for not only getting more opportunites to develop my game, but also to generally promote sharing in BJJ amongst like-minded jiujitseiros, and especially without the distraction of any politics.
While travelling in Portugal, I had a chance to visit Jiu Jitsu Peniche (December, 2019). While I am just a whitebelt in BJJ, I'm a sports science and coaching professional, and so I can recognize a great teacher when I see one. The gym's instructor, Alex Pereira, is definitely legit in that regard! With his sharp focus on the super clean and economical application of techniques, as well as his innovative approaches to developing BJJ training methods, I highly recommend training with him. I certainly will be coming back again regularly. I hope to also entice many of my training buddies from Finland to come over for a training camp, which will, for sure, also include a fair bit of time surfing at the great local beaches.
A massive thank you to Alex and the Jiu Jitsu Peniche Family for welcoming me to train with you. Oss!

Qualidade. Dinâmico. Bom treino. Oss.
Very dynamic BJJ school. Interesting and entertaining, as well. A challenge. Alex does a sequence with the flexibility ball at the beginning of class and it is a cool set of exercises/techniques. We are all bouncing from hip to hip and passing, and doing an assortment of drills requiring (and developing) phenomenal balance and body-awareness. Alex has some great flow and movements. Good fun stuff to watch (and try!). I really enjoyed my drop-in class and so I'm encouraging others to take the opportunity and get a good training session in. Everyone is respectful and safe here. All competitive but good vibes. Some great rolls. Don't miss it.
Alex will take care of you, whether you are a white belt or a black. Looking forward to visiting again in the future. You can find the schedule on their linked facebook page. I did the 8pm (available Tues, Wed, Thurs).

Love this gym! Alex is an amazing teacher. My favorite class out of all the gyms I visited while traveling. Will definitely return next time I’m in town!

The first time I trained at Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Peniche was in the summer of 2018. I was a brown belt with four stripes, and was visiting from Canada with my wife, who's Portuguese. I was searching for a place to train and found the gym on a tip from a training partner who had moved to Portugal. Not only is the area amazing in terms of its food, beaches, site seeing and adventures, who knew the jiu jitsu would be world class. I felt like a hit a gold mine when I started training with Alex, the head instructor. There was a black belt from Australia visiting at the time, and he pulled me aside early on and told me that Alex was a phenom, and he wasn't embellishing. I've never been schooled like Alex schooled me. I'm a big guy, and I have a descent sweeping game from bottom and a pressure game from top, but I could never get a hold of him or control him, and it wasn't because he was fast, it was because at every step, he was strategically better. In fact, Alex quickly taught me the value of strategic pressure vs. physical pressure, and the lesson was so valuable that I immediately told my wife we were coming back every year! And here I am, in 2019, in my second year, now a black belt, and still getting schooled, and learning techniques and strategies that are invaluable. Also, importantly, the school is very clean, and Alex and his students are super friendly and welcoming. If you are near Lisbon, Caldas da Rainha, or Peniche, make the time to come here, you won't regret it.
