Der Name José Avillez steht für hohe Kochkunst und für zwei Michelin-Sterne. In Lissabon gehören ihm zahlreiche Restaurants, die in aller Regel immer ausgebucht sind. Wer sich für einen Besuch entscheidet, der sollte frühzeitig einen Tisch buchen. Wir entschieden uns für dieses Restaurant, weil uns die Neugierde auf einem außergewöhnlichen Gaumengenuß inspirierte. Da wir sehr pünktlich zum vereinbarten Termin kamen, hatten wir tatsächlich noch die Chance einen Tisch auszuwählen. Je später der Abend, desto voller wurde es und die Auswahl des Tisches war dann nicht mehr möglich. Was uns gleich negativ auffiel war die dunkle Beleuchtung (ich möchte als Gast sehen, was auf meinem Teller liegt!) und die sehr laute Musik. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, jedoch oft bei der lauten Musik kaum zu verstehen. Wir entschieden uns für das Epic-Menü. Ehe wir uns versahen war auch schon der erste Gang am Tisch. Kaum waren wir fertig und die Teller noch gar nicht abgeräumt, da kam schon der nächste Gang. Wir hatten den Eindruck in einem Schnell-Restaurant zu sein. Man versprach uns die nächsten Gänge mit einem entsprechenden Abstand zu servieren, was auch geschah. Wir waren von den kleinen Häppchen geschmacklich positiv angetan. Was jedoch ein Hamburger ohne Geschmack in dieser Kreationsvielfalt zu suchen hat, außer vielleicht den Magen zu füllen, blieb uns ein Rätsel. Es passte nicht, denn da gibt's Ami-Fastfoodketten, die es geschmacklich besser können. Dafür brauche ich keine Sterneküche. Wir ließen diesen Teil zurückgehen. Wir wollten einen gemütlichen Abend in stilvoller Athmosphäre verbringen und waren auch bereit einen höheren Preis zu zahlen. Unsere Erwartungen wurden leider nicht erfüllt. Bei uns entstand der Eindruck, hierher kommen überwiegend Touristen und das Menü ist auf diese Zielgruppe ausgerichtet.

Good fun night out with a group of friends having snacks and cocktails. All the food was good and we tried a lot of the menu. For us the place was let down by the really rude waitress. We asked to order some dishes then order more as we wanted (not that unusual for tapas style eating when you don't know the portion size?) but this seemed to really annoy her and she was not welcoming at all, just trying to push the big dishes on us (there are only 2) instead of small bites which is what we wanted. Shame because we all loved the food and enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere. Total bill was 320€ for 6 people who were full, cocktail each and 2 bottles of wine. 3 stars for staff, 5 for food Mini bar team - The ordering method needs looking at. The card system for the food doesn't work as when you order more food you have the same card and the waitress has to remember what has already been served (and kept asking us what we had already had) The drinks menu is on a tablet which you have to effectively add to a basket but that doesn't order the drinks so the waitress then enters them in her system (and got them wrong!)

Expérience décevante. Nous avons pris le menu découverte avec l'accord des vins, présentation intéressante mais rien de bien recherché... de très petites portions, services long, serveur peu habitué, pas de descriptifs des plats et le dernier service, était un petit hamburger avec deux petites "patates frites".... les vins n'étaient vraiment pas bon, seul le vin rouge ( la seule coupe d'ailleurs sur 6 coupes) était bonne. Expérience des plus décevantes au prix payé. Ça ne valait pas cela. Je ne le conseilles pas pour le prix ni pour la qualité tant l'expérience a été décevante. Il y a de meilleurs restaurants pour manger de la cuisine gastronomique.

NEVER. NEVER again!! Disclaimer: I love good food and I actually go out for dining a lot. But since long I have not been in such a poorly organized concept place! Portions are ridicolously tiny. Waiting time between courses is at least 30 (!!!) Minutes. Its all very much trying to be fancy but really its quite average in the tasting (a cool Form does not make it taste good). We came here as a group to enjoy a nice evening in Lissabon. I am beyond disappointed and quite angered.

Μοναδική εμπειρία γαστριμαργικής απόλαυσης. Το μενού 11 πιάτων epic κόστιζε 55€ -πολύ προσιτό για το επίπεδο του σεφ και την πολυτέλεια του εστιατορίου. Το συνιστώ ανεπιφύλακτα. Τα κοκτέιλ μοναδικά και το σέρβις πολύ καλό. Μακάρι να είχα και άλλες μέρες στη Λισαβώνα να ξαναπάω. Συγχαρητήρια στον Avillez! και την ομάδα του!

Food is great but quite expensive for the quantity served and vs other Lisbon restaurants. 15minutes between each bite if you take a set tasting menu. Staff is very friendly but we waited 1.5 hour in entrance room where they proposed to make us sit originally and asking for a proper table. Apparently you have to book via phone and précise you want to be in the main room to avoid getting proposed a second hand table with the other tourists.

Another Avillez disaster. Booking system is terrible, food ok and service poor. Waited a long while for one dish (it is tapas like food), perhaps 30 min - to the point it was ridiculous. Cocktails were not great and the staff was just not focused on our table. For an expensive and trendy place, it was a failure.

We came here after eating at the Barrio de Avilla the night before. We got the Epic fixed menu. All the food was a work of art. Every dish was unique and had a creative way of eating it. Unfortunately I decided I'm not a big fan of fixed menu meals and surprise dishes. I like being able to choose my meal size and what's in it. The only issue I have with the restaurant was that they required everyone at the table to order the fixed meal of one person ordered it (at least that's what the waiter told me, but it might have been lost in translation). So since my wife wanted the fixed menu we ended up both getting it.

El peor sevicio al cliente que he tenido no solo en Portugal en mi vida podria decir. Algunas optiones del menu fueron buenas como el huevo c queso parmesano y las papas. Pedi el mojito q estuvo rico pero nada de lo q probe era para ser un restaurant q esta catalagoda en 2 estrellas Michelin. Cdo pasaron mas de 45min q no traian comida decidimos irnos, el mesero quiso poner escusas.la verdad no lo recomendaria. Eleji cualquier lugar p comer seguro se mejor q este lugar.

This place is more like “sub-Michelin”style, exactly like the name. Two persons, ordered 2 cocktails and 2 fixed menu , total cost was 126 euros . The service and vibe are good . Food , em, depends on what you are in. Personally , it’s not my state , I prefer more down to earth restaurante and food .

New year's Eve disgrace. I made my reservation around three months prior and had high expectations sadly none of them were met. I arrived about ten minutes before my reservation and entered a very crowded foyer with a very awkward d.j in the centre. I made my way through the crowd to try and speak to someone about my reservation etc I was completely ignored for around twenty minutes, I was left standing with other confused guests trying to get anyone's attention. The "host" would occasionally appear to check the bookings on the laptop while doing her best to keep her back to us all! I eventually spoke to the "host" telling her I had a 10.30 reservation, it was already 10.50 she simply sneered at me, gave an odd gesture then walked away. By this time other guests in the same situation were getting very agitated. We were eventually seated about 11.15 a full 45 minutes after my reservation was booked, I wonder had I been 45 minutes late for my reservation how I would have been treated. No apology, not even a hint. The only positive was the lady who served most of our food and drinks, she was very helpful and professional although some of the descriptions came across as very scripted. I won't go on about the food much, some of it was good, some just ok. I will say the "burger" was terrible, luke warm almost rare meat in an oversized tasteless bun. Cocktails were average. I have been a chef for over 20 years working in Michelin and otherwise, my spare time and holidays mainly consist of eating in good restaurants this is possibly the worst most disappointing experience I ever had. My first ever New year's in another country ruined.

Es la máxima expresión del snobismo. Cómo anécdota: el probar una gelatina con forma de aceituna y que sabe a aceituna es cuanto menos chocante.... Ya podría, el chef, haber puesto directamente aceitunas y emplear todo ese tiempo en preparar otra de las innumerables exquisiteces que sin ir más lejos la cocina portuguesa le podría inspirar. Si bien, el menú salvo en un plato, siendo condescendiente, es fácilmente superable y superado, de hecho, por muchos otros restaurantes lisboetas con mucha menos parafernalia y por supuesto a mucho menor precio. La presentación aunque esmerada queda totalmente deslucida con la oscuridad del entorno, sinceramente resulta ridículo tener que usar la linterna del móvil para poder ver bien los platos. Por otro lado el servicio aunque amable es absolutamente irregular en el tiempo, a veces muy lento y otras veces atropellado. En fin, un fiasco en toda regla.

We had the best meal in Lisbon at Mini Bar. Personally I found the concept quite interesting. The manager helped us find a table without reservation on a extremely busy night. I had the Epic menu and I enjoyed it extremely. We were truly enjoyed every dish and were impressed by the great combinations of flavors and techniques. A lovely dinner.

Sitio muy chulo de cocina experimental o conceptual. El local está situado al lado de un teatro e incluso comparten el WC con el teatro lo que no es muy cómodo pero no es un problema. El personal es joven, guapo y atento . El ambiente es completamente informal, el local tiene música bajo mi punto de vista quizá un pelín alta y una iluminación muy chula pero que roza la oscuridad, todo ello le da un ambiente medio de cabaret o reservado de disco. La comida es conceptual pero muy bien presentada y buena tienes tres menús uno con platos definidos otro sorpresa y a la carta, ahora sí es todo una degustación de experiencias. Precio no os aporto no pague Muy chulo y recomendable en la honda de los restaurantes que surgieron despues de la explosión del bulli.

This is a restaurant signed by Jose Avillez and it does NOT stand up to that level. Ambiance, thrill is completely disconnected from the menu. Food it really not innovative apart from a few chicken skin grill thingy. Two people end ip paying more than 100euros where in Lisbon food and price is high standard. I don’t recommend this place. Same taste = 20euros pp in Lisbon, not 60.

A comida e o servico nao justificam o preco. A maioria nao justifica e provando a carta quase toda ha apenas uma coisa ou duas fenomenais, o resto sao testes falhados ou so ridículos ou corriqueiros. O serviço teve um jovem muito simpático a servir mas tudo a volta falha, a velocidade da comida a vir a host que n serve para nada, uma organização pouco profissional, notoriamente perdida, para um servico que se espera acima da média.

Where to start; Should you go? yes. Will it be memorable? yes. Is it worth it? Yes. Is it authentic? If you can book ahead - great, but I would reco couples sit at the bar. Not only will you watch all the food come out the pass, but you can also watch every amazing cocktail and bar creation (some equally as amazing as the food) come to life. Feel free to ask what’s going on, these guys are pros. My wife & I shared the “menu on the go” (45e) supported by some a la carte favs. The food was incredible but, I was most impressed by the service and fully engaged staff. Remember, these dishes are all imaginative and delicious bites so, this is a marathon not a sprint! Don’t be shy, buckle in and enjoy.

Espaço simpático embora com pouca luminosidade. Deve ser para não se perceber bem os pratos ridículos em quantidade que são servidos. Cozinha de laboratório a armar ao pretensioso. Imenso tempo de intervalo entre as “amostras” servidas. Pessoal atencioso/simpático mas nunca a mesma pessoa. Relação preço/qualidade exorbitante. Ainda dizem que andam muitos carteiristas no eléctrico 28. Valeu-nos a cervejaria Ramiro a seguir para compôr o estômago.

Hands on my favourite restaurant in Lisbon. It has a very unique and relaxed atmosphere which you can feel as soon as you enter the door. The staff is very welcoming, the decor has a great balance between fancy and cozy, the food is an experience on its own and everyone around you looks like they are having a great time. We had the tasting menu and it was truly amazing. Nothing like I had ever tasted before.

Fine dining for ants! Over priced finger food, the best thing I ate was a slice of Apple, true story. The place if full of notions and very little substance. My partner and I left after eating some very dubious food laughed at the whole pretentious experience. It's like we where being part of a hidden camera show. The food isn't actually nice.

I was here a twice 3 years ago and it was much more spectacular. I had an okay visit this time, 3 years later. My mind wasn't blown. The wine was okay. The food was okay. The cocktails we're good. The service was fine. The menu was the exact same though. It needs some innovation and a bit of a kick up the backside. I don't think I'll be back again.

Finest meal I may have ever had. Creative, well prepared. Presentation stunning. Service friendly and spot on. Cocktails incredible. If you eat out once in Lisbon, this is it. Order items or set menu. What you see here was part of the 45 euro option.

Es un MUST en tu visita a Lisboa. También está en Oporto. El chef es Jose Avillez que tiene varios restaurantes. Nos contaron que se formó en el Bulli. En definitiva, los cucuruchos de carne y de atún están para llorar de ricos. La aceituna un clásico rico que se deshace en la boca. El resto de platos muy recomendables también.. Las fotos no les hacen justicia... Sorry. El vino blanco de la casa JA es delicioso. Personal muy amable y local con mucho rollo. Quiero volver!!!!

Booked a reservation at this restaurant online, based on a recommendation from a friend. It certainly has a “Tickets” vibe (restaurant in Barcelona), with the food being tapas style, often as a playful twist on an alcoholic drink. We did the epic menu (55 euro per person), which is 11 courses that are chef’s selection — some were hits, some were misses, but the overall techniques were impressive. Service was okay, a little bit robotic, and we felt the tables were too close to each other.

Quise ir a este restaurante porque es creación del chef Avillez pero mi intención era ir a Belcanto(no encontré disponibilidad). Realmente no esperes nada “wow” en la comida. La atención es buena, el lugar agradable. El mesero nos propuso el menú de degustación de 6 tiempos, es caro. Nuestras expectativas eran más. Puedes encontrar mejores lugares.

O lugar é muito aconchegante, logo de início a decoração me agradou bastante, os atendentes são muito gentis, é um ambiente super agradável. A comida realmente me surpreendeu, a mistura dos sabores e das texturas foi algo bem interessante, sem falar nas apresentações também muito bonitas. Vale a pena a visita no lugar, e ele também aceita reservas.

Experiência fantástica. Atendimento extremamente solicito. Foi sugerido começarmos com drinks e não nos arrependemos. Ótimas criações. Optamos pelo menu degustação épico (55), acompanhado de um vinho branco, e foi uma grata surpresa. A cada prato que chegava a mesa nos surpreendíamos com a quantidade de sabor e detalhes a cada mordida. Ferrero rocher, ceviche de camarão, os cornetos e até um “simples” ovo cozido a baixa temperatura nos surpreendia! Um espetáculo. Nas próximas visitas, espero conhecer os outros restaurantes do José Avilez. Recomendo a experiência.

We had a great meal here. The food is incredibly tasty, full of vibrant flavours and there is a definite sense of fun running through the restaurant and menu. Service was very friendly throughout and they adapted certain courses for my wife as needed. Wine list was strong and good value.

This was an amazing experience with way more exciting food than I have had at 3 times as expensive Michelin restaurents. We took the epic menu which featured a lot of delicios servings. I had the best Negroni I ever had and a decent old fashioned with a bottle of wine for the table and we still did not reach 100 eur / person.. definitely a place I will come back to next time I'm in Lisbon! If you haven't been, GO GO GO!

Once you have had the best, you cant go back Similar quality but 1/3 less the price to Amber Part 1 - - : 5 (Perfect) my fav resto ♥️ in Lisbon - - 1. Algarve prawns in ceviche ( : 8.6€) - served on a lime slice with a piece of beetroot on top. It gives a refreshing feeling, similar to what you would get from a tequila shot but without alcohol. 2. Ferrero Rocher ( : 6.9€) - with hazelnuts and a gold-leaf candy wrapper, foie gras in disguise tastes like Amber's foie gras lolipop, sweet outside savory foie gras inside, addictive. 3. Scallops and avocado cone ( : 5€ ) - fresh velvety smooth scallops with avocado sauce are perfectly wrapped with crunchy rice paper. 4. “Roasted chicken“ with avocado cream, cottage cheese, piri piri and lemon ( : 3.5€) - matchy matchy no any better word can describe, you really have to taste it to understand, delicious in its own unique way. 5. Oxtail with maize porridge, parmesan and truffle ( : 8€) - shredded melt-in-mouth oxtail meat and spoon over the creamy maize porridge, parmesan and truffle. I bet you can’t stop asking for more bites. Perfect main course! Mini Bar offers a tasting menu (45€) but it is totally acceptable to order a la carte, which is what we did!  Most “plates” run between €3 and €7 euros, and the menu is pretty clear as to what the dish entails. It is run by the Portugal’s star chef José Avillez, a regular on the international gourmet circuit, television personality, cookbook author and proprietor of more than a dozen restaurants. Extremely hot as soon as you walk in. Dark low lighting. Poor atmosphere. Rude/ snotty staff. Was dining with two people. Walked in and asked for a table. They said it would be 1 hour wait without reservation. We asked if anything in the bar section was open they told us it would be a 45 min wait. We looked around for a minute. A group of 4 comes in and tells the host they don't have a reservation. He immediately seats them at a table in the bar section of the restaurant. I asked host why he told us they had no table. He said that it was the last table for four people. Saw another table that was open for two in the bar section. I asked the hostess (host switched out) and she was very rude and short with us. Reasserting that it would be a 45min wait. We immediately left. I’m sure the food was good. But the staff was very unhelpful. Likely because of the ridiculous temperature of the restaurant. And the atmosphere was poor at best.

Be really careful here. They present three menu options, one Menu degustation of many little random nouveau cuisine dishes, very unbalanced, from a 'solid' caipirinha to a simple miniburguer, a Menu Epic where you directly don't know the dishes, and A la carte, this last probably the best choice. We didn't like the experience, portions were tiny as joy for taste delivered. Service was enthusiastically nice, over all on explaining every excentric recipe. Plus an acceptable cocktail, an overrated 60€ note for the thing by person. They said a former chef from El Bully of Ferrán Adrià is the designer of the thing. I asked them by phone if there was "live music" and the place answered than yes. When arrived, just a anodine playlist sounding all night long.

Advice: Come here for a drink at the bar and order few courses a la carte. Seriously, that’s best part of the place that you can order the innovative courses to your liking and not wait for what will come with pre-set meal. Why 3 stars - This place came highly recommended and we were very excited to try it out. Despite not having a reservation they were very kind to have accommodated us, very nice of them but don’t expect that to happen as the service is not always the best. And service is the main reason for 3 star rating.

If I could I'd rate them an 11, one for every course we had. I don't know enough superlatives to adequately describe Minibar Teatro. The Tuna Cone was my fave, closely followed by the Apple Margarita (not a drink). The Ginginha was great, the wine was perfect, and the service was top notch. When we were done I wanted to start all over, not because I was hungry but because my mouth was so happy. It's a short walk from our hotel (Brown's), which made getting there super easy. If you come to (or live in) Lisbon, your time will be well spent going to Minibar.

Amazing last night in Lisbon in this fantastic setting where everything is not what it seems (even the bathrooms are very mysterious late at night since they are part of the theater next door). The food is the star of the show though ! I highly recommend trying a bit of everything, which is very easy with the à la carte menu, or following the menu formula if you want to go on a culinary trip that you won't forget ... ever ? The staff is very friendly, knows what they are talking about and will make recommandations if you are in the mood to be impressed : our waitress got us to try the Ferreros (my girlfriend and I are still dreaming about it) and brought us a perfect set of desserts to finish the meal in fireworks.The drinks are also delicious, and the wine cellar excellent, so I would definitely see myself go there for the cocktails only. In definitive, it's a high-end experience in culinary skills in a fantastic setting managed by professionals that want you to get out of the beaten paths of food, and it's well worth the extra spending for all the fantastic souvenirs. Thank you very much Mini-Bar, I will tell everyone to come see you in their next trip and I hope to come back soon myself !

Great food and ambiance. However, we went for the Epic Menu and were simply not prepared for what was to come next. The food was amazing but course after course kept coming over the three hour "epic" experience. I consider myself to have a large appetite but was ready to throw in the towel with four courses to go. Highly recommend but make sure you don't eat anything for hours and hours before hand, otherwise you'll be bursting at the seams like we were.

I asked for a Portuguese experience and this was legen... wait for it... daryyy ... the meal comes in acts 1 to 5 and we ordered the whole menu, i was sure it cannot be all perfect and am glad to be proven wrong, nothing on the menu is something you find else where this is all am gonna say .. this place doesnt need to be ruined by describing every bite ingredient because thats the fun going through the menu, just go in couples or even number to make sure u dont fight over tasting or double ordering the 2 menu sets.... kudosss

Wonderful food and service! I would go again, the food was excellent quality and preparation. My fav was the been mustard cone and the tuna (tasted fatty). We had one €55 and one €45 menu, it's great that you can order one of each! The quantity of food was well planned out so that you feel like exploding just as dessert is served, but there is still that little corner in your tummy reserved for dessert so it works out perfectly :) The bartenders are very helpful. We sat at the bar, best seats in the house imo and they were helpful friendly but not intrusive. I would love to return and try the other cocktails. Menina e moca is a delicious Pineapple cocktail I would recommend. It comes with edible flowers.

Conheço alguns restaurantes do JA e tinha curiosidade neste que tem tão boa fama. Fomo jantar a uma 6f a noite cedo, 20h, por isso o restaurante ainda estava calmo. Os empregados era simpáticos mas estavam sempre a mudar, sendo que a teatrilidade que tanto se fala aconteceu apenas com um prato (as azeitonas explosivas, prato muito bom). Relativamente aos pratos, tivemos dois extremamente salgados, batatas parvas e cornetto tartaro de novilho e os restantes gostamos mas não achámos óptimos - asas de frango, croquetes, vieiras. Deste modo, o preco total foi desadequado c/ 2 copos de vinho e 2 cafes = 90euros.

Expected more at this price point and for an avillez restaurant. Been to two other avillez restaurants (cantinho, bairro) that were much better in service, value and overall experience. We went with the epic but ended up being fairly mediocre. Some dishes imaginative (the cones and Ferraro were my fav) but others (scallops, tuna) were slightly bland and run of the mill. Didn't feel like a theater experience.

A place that seems to try too hard on all fronts -- is the food good? it's solid but will not leave you feeling "wow"ed as you might expect from Avillez' restaurants and comparable places. It's not nearly as imaginative as it claims to be and the moments are more dressed up tapas on fancy plating. Are the drinks good? Yes -- however, expect it to be more adapted towards sweeter palettes. What about the service? A hit or miss depending on who you get as your server. Explanations could be made better (I'm still not quite sure if the epic menu included off menu items even though we asked 2 or 3 times in different ways) and certain staff were often impatient. The epic menu -- described as a culinary adventure in tastes and textures -- proved to be sorely disappointing with the most imaginative being the Ferraro rocher (flavors and texture could have been better balanced) and the best executed the slow-cooked egg with truffles and Parmesan. Both desserts were good (a lime yuzu (!!!) mousse bomb and passion fruit marshmallow with white chocolate peanut butter) but skewed on the acidic / citrusy front. For the price and what mini bar touts itself to be, would have expected better in terms of food and service.

Go. Seriously. Great experience, tiny plates of delicious food and a real sense of fun. Apparently the cocktails are amazing. I can only vouch for the gins, and the selection is good, if a bit OTT with the prep (burning cinnamon sticks in the glass makes my gin smell of Christmas, which is cool, but honestly better off ordering the Martin Miller gin they don't get silly with!). Impeccable service. Oddly pretty poorly maintained restrooms. Overall though a fabulous mini bar!

Definitely one of the tastiest restaurant in my life ! We tried our chance in the evening after being refused in the afternoon over the phone. Due to one cancellation, we managed to get a table in this very particular retro atmosphere ! We followed the waiter's advice : one Now On Menu + one Epic Menu (surprise menu). Everything was excellent and the staff was really good, as usual in those awarded/stared restaurants. Final bill...110 euros only with 3 drinks. A must eat in Lisboa for the food lovers

Some of José Avillez' classical creations, served as appetizers in small portions. Great food, great cocktails. The place is usually crowded. The staff is friendly but although we made a reservation, it took us more than one hour to finally get a table. The rhythm of the meal kept being interrupted, we waited too long for most of the dishes.

The food is excellent(5* to chef) big plus- the tasting menu can be adapted for vegetarians. We love Avilles restaurants and Mini bar is one of the favorites for fun date. Stuff is nice, BUT the communication has to be definitely improved: we made a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. I called in advance(!) to notify that it was his birthday and asked to put a candle in the desert. When we arrived to the restaurant I talked to a waiter to make sure they got my message and specified the reservation surname and the table we were sitting. The dinner was over, didn't get a candle, paid the bill. After I asked the waiter why my wish wasn't taken into account and they told they mixed us up with another birthday table. When we were almost leaving, got a hazelnut cream (that was delicious) with candle. Thank you, but for the place with a bill for 2 persons 150€+ I would expect better communication between stuff.

Brilliant restaurant, the tasting menu is a must! Also, they knock up a fine old fashioned, so don't miss out. We found the best location was to be sat at the bar, however others may prefer a more intimate setting of a table. The staff were beyond friendly and full of charisma.

Everybody in Avillez are very nice and welcoming. Obviously, mini bar is no different. We drink some cocktails and they were great. Also some appetizers, and they were also great. The cocktail prices are fair. And the space is also nice.

Good attention, the staff is great, specially the barman. But in my opinion the food is overrated. Only some courses were great (like the false Ferrero or the Bulli Olive). The best was the gin&tonic Monkey47 with 1724.

Interesting, upscale spot for a taste of molecular gastronomy by master chef Jose Avillez (from the only two star restaurant in town). The standard is really, really high. Go for the surprise menu or choose À la carte. I really liked the Green Apple and Spearmint Margarita, served as an apple slice infused with margarita, and the Tempura avocado with dehydrated kimchi, coriander sprouts, lime and lemon.

A truly remarkable experience and one of the best restaurants I've ever visited. Chef Jose Avillez has created unique flavours and signature dishes in a very cosy and fun place too. Best dish by far the JAmburger D.O.P. (cause it's so good it needs to be protected with a trademark)!

Fun place - probably not crazy inventive in the molecular gastronomy crowd, but some new ones for us. Pro tip: If you don't have reservations and are jet lagged or accustomed to eating early (North America), try showing up when they open and asking to sit at the bar - probably more attention than anyone else will get all night! Put yourself at their (including bartenders!) mercy and enjoy yourself.

We visited mini bar after eating at Feitoria and Eleven and the food here was much better than at the two 1-star restaurants! ... And at less than half the price. We walked by and sat in the bar as the restaurant was fully booked (it seems that they keep the 8 bar seats open for people with no reservations). Good wine and the best food we had during our two weeks in Lisbon and Porto. The wine was good. Cocktails looked really good as well.

Where to start with this place? Jose Avillez has earned himself something of a reputation, becoming a minor celebrity in Portugal, and with good reason. I visited Cantinho do Avillez last summer, one of his other venues with an altogether more relaxed feel, and was hugely impressed with the display of ambition and ability. This prompted me to pay a visit to Minibar during a trip back to Lisbon. Set in an old theatre, and with the theme running through, we visited on a rainy Saturday evening and, without a reservation, made sure to get their early. The staff were great and found us a seat without any posturing that some restaurants opt for in such a situation, and this despite the restaurant quickly filling up after we were seated. One's opinion of a restaurant is formed from a number of factors. Restaurants are a sum of their parts: food, service, ambience, value, and general like-ability - get one piece wrong, and it can overshadow the entire experience. Minibar ticked every box, and we left grinning from ear to ear. Knowledgeable staff with an infectious enthusiasm, who genuinely seemed to be having great fun doing their jobs. A taster menu designed to surprise and intrigue that hit the spot on every level. From the 'caipirinha' starter that burst with flavour, to the crisp 'Roasted chicken' with avocado and cottage cheese, and a simple (on the surface, at least) maize porridge with oxtail, that was cooked and flavoured to perfection. Taster menus can be difficult to execute well, particularly when introducing such levels of creativity and originality into them. Jose Avillez has succeeded on every level. A masterpiece.
