Fun little local grocery store. With everything you need when on vacation. A tabacco shop and a bakery attached for drinks and really good sandwiches.

Baptista had a pretty good selection of items for a place like Luz but it was crazy busy and everyone was in each other's way. The prices were also quite high on most items. The cafe at the entrance was pretty good. We got sandwiches and pastries and the bread was awesome. You can eat outside at some tables with umbrellas.

A very nice supermarket, with a good selection of food goods including freshly cooked breads and pastries. Prices are reasonable if you buy local items rather than imported brands

Way over priced but plenty of choice.... head down to the hyper march supermarket 5 minutes on the bus costs between 1- 1.50 euros you will save money

Luz is my local area
Baptista is great to meet for a coffee.
I only use the shop for a few items.
But the Butchers is the best.

Supermercado na Luz, com preços relativamente mais elevados do que o habitual. Muitos produtos importados indo ao encontro dos gostos dos turistas. Bom para umas compras de ultima hora, comprar algo na tabacaria ou simplesmente beber um café.

I didn't actually go into the Baptistsa but the staff were very obliging as I needed to use someone's WiFi again and they quite willingly obliged. It looks a very big facility from the outside maybe the next time I might get to shop till I drop.

CHECK YOUR CHANGE! getting short changed by some of the younger checkout staff is very, very common. Probably at least 50% of the time with some of them and been using shop for years. Can't be a mistake, as I never, ever get over-changed! Pity as it lets down the other honest checkout staff. COUNT YOUR CHANGE BEFORE YOU LEAVE.

Für mich der beste Laden vor Ort zum Einkaufen. Tolle Auswahl an frischen Produkten Fleisch, Käse, Getränke usw. Ein Kiosk für Zeitschriften Postkarten Briefmarken und Tabakwaren ist integriert. Dann kann man sich noch mit einem Kaffee und kleine Leckereien im angrenzenden Bistro verwöhnen. Empfehle ich gerne weiter. Ein Geldautomat ist übrigens auch in der Nähe.

Large range of available items to purchase in a clean and modern environment. Prices are not as cheap as the local spar but the location and stock range is much better than the spar. Staff are friendly and very useful. Good location includes a cafe and dedicated tobacco counter.

I've been in Portugal for two years and-- bar none-- Baptista is the finest store I've dealt with. Friendly, efficient and prompt home delivery. A quality selection that can handle assorted expat tastes--just a joy to deal with! If there was a 6th star to choose from, I'd pick it :-)

Kleiner gut sortierter Supermarkt. Wie in jedem portugiesische Supermarkt, riecht es nach Stockfisch... Zu empfehlen. Auch kann man dort schön draußen sitzen und einen Kaffee trinken.

Great meats like real Black Angus beef to be had here for your barbeque.
Friendly service and wellwell-stocked with other camping needs, as well as dairy products and fresh fruit and vegetables. Great cured meats and quality aged cheese as well.

Baptista has a bottled gas exchange facility on site,which you can park right up to which means its so easy to put the full bottle straight into the car.The price of a full bottle is no more expensive than anywhere else.Plus you can grab a nice coffee in their cafe buy a magazine or do a spot of quality produce shopping whilst there.

Ein schöner sauberer Supermarkt, zeichnet sich aus durch frisches überwiegend nationales Obst und Gemüse. Die Frischfleischabteilung zwar etwas teurer aber von sehr guter Qualität. Ebenso gibt's hier sehr leckere Backwaren. Es gibt im Baptista eine Tabakwarenecke, wo man auch Zeitschriften und Tageszeitungen bekommen kann. Auch muss das Café erwehnt werden wo man leckere Kleinigkeiten für den kleinen Hunger bekommen kann.

People say it’s expensive and Spar is cheaper, what rubbish Spar has a habit of pricing items wrongly for example I got a pack of 4 boxes of matches and at the checkout they were priced at €12 haha and another time a box of Shreddies cereal priced at €8 haha lots of their items are priced similar to Baptista and some are more, so I suggest before you say Spar is cheaper do you research first I’ve had 11 years of knowledge on the shops in and around Luz and also I don’t need any comments from folks from Lisbon who appear once a year in August and do nothing but complain and most never even smile.

Super expensive against regular Portuguese prices. Never thought that we would be paying more for food in a village in Algarve than in Lisbon. Next time, we will take taxi to Lagos and back and it's still gona be much cheaper.

Kleiner Supermarkt mit größerer Auswahl als der Spar nebenan. Hier gibt es eine sehr gut sortierte Bäckerei und eine Fleischtheke, die unseren Bedarf an Grillgut während des Urlaubs deckte. Es finden sich auch ausgefallenere Produkte (italienische Pesto) und die Preise liegen auf ortsüblichem Niveau.

The best market in Luz. All day fresh hot baguettes are on sale. Fresh meats, meat and a large selection of spirits. Prices much lower than in the neighboring Spar market, on average 10-20%! cheaper. Convenient parking.

Great supermarket clean,organized.Cheap for local products,but as everywhere imported items are expensive. Great meat and cheese delicatessen counter.
Fresh breads,cakes.
After you shop or just anytime sit have coffee,cakes,sandwiches, soup, quiche,salads for a snack or lunch.Nice sitting area right outside,but rest is a little close to cars parking for my liking.,fumes,whilst you eat.! Good prices,very pleasant staff.

Quite expensive in a 'Waitrose' way. Clean shop, with decent selection. Ask for a discount card to get 5% off at the till. Really good quality butcher, and cheese counter. Nice mini Cafe with pleasant, sunny outdoor table area. Some of the staff are very friendly, especially the young ones. Closes at 1pm on Sundays.

Zu voll, keine große Auswahl, alles sehr beengt - lieber drei Kilometer weiter nach Lagos fahren. Der dortige Intermarche ist sehr gepflegt und bietet eine tolle Auswahl. Es gibt sogar Gerichte zum Mitnehmen. Und die Tankstelle daneben hat die günstigsten Benzinpreise weit und breit.
