Had a fantastic time at 5 elements, professor Perdigão very kindly gave the lesson in English. A welcoming class of people and great technique and sparring, would highly recommend to anyone living in or passing through Lisbon.

I had such a great experience here. I’m new to jiujitsu (6 weeks training), don’t speak Portuguese, in Lisbon for only a few days, no gi. The instructors and students were friendly, welcoming, and super helpful. I learned a ton and I can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you!

I visited Five Elements while traveling and had a great experience. The quality of instruction was excellent and Helio even taught the class in English for me. If I lived in Lisbon I would definitely pick this school to train in. Thank you for making me feel welcome and for the great training opportunity!

Came to Lisbon, Portugal looking for Jiu-Jitsu Academy and was fortunate that we stay nearby this amazing Academy 5 Elements Jiu-Jitsu! Professor Helio teaches with so much passion and so welcoming to those who comes to visit. This academy has no ego but only training hard to get better in BJJ! Thank you so much for such a great hospitality and definitely coming back to this academy to train!

This gym was amazing. I came from Texas to for the Europeans IBJJF tournament. While I was here for my stay I trained here with Professor Helio and his school. I would say it is the best Jiujitsu school around. He teaches solid techniques and has great character. I recommend this as a place to come train!!

We were traveling through Lisbon and after eating all the great food and pastries, we needed a place to train badly. Luckily, 5 Elements academy was right by where were staying. Professor Helio and the students were super welcoming during our training with them. No signs of hostility what so ever that someone might get when dropping in. It was a safe and clean environment to roll in with wall to wall mats. Great training and good vibes only! Would definitely stop by again in the future if ever in Lisbon. Oss

Travelling for the holidays and needed to train to work off all the pastels da natas! So my boyfriend and I stopped by for open mat, and Professor Helio was so welcoming and accommodating. It was a small group but everyone was super nice, fun, light-hearted, and lively and there were a variety of experienced students, from white to purple belts. It was €15 for a drop-in. Wished we were in Lisbon longer so we could come back for a class. Hope to visit again soon! Obrigado! Oss!

Helio is hands down the best coach I have ever had!
Great place for English speakers wanting to learn jujitsu.
I’ve been in lisbon for a month and originally wanted to do 3/week with him to get the basics. I immediately changed that to reflect 5/week because of how easy and fun it is working with him.

My experience was the best. Professor Helio was so professional and kind. We were visiting from Canada with my 7 year old son who loves jujutsu we took him there for a training session and it was amazing. He learned so much in one hour class. Felt like family, so kind, the gym was spotless clean. I would definitely recommend this gym if u r looking for the best training for Brazilian Jujutsu. It was as the highlight of my sons month long vacation to Portugal from Canada. We will take back lots of memories and most important technique my son is dying to try on his teammates back home. This gym and professor is top notch.

Excellent academy! I was visiting Lisbon from Philadelphia and needed a workout after eating so many egg tarts. Miguel welcome me in with open arms. The facility is clean, with mats wall to wall and there are 2 showers.
The instruction there was detailed and the students very technical and welcoming to an outsider like me. I had many great rolls and highly recommend this place. Guaranteed I'm coming back next time I am here!

Fantastic BJJ Academy!
Very knowledgable black-belt teachers who explain really well (English & Portuguese). Beginner friendly. Great, positive vibe. Higher belts eager to help out and teach lower belts. I can highly recommend it!

Highly recommend training here if you’re here on vacation in Lisbon! Or if you live here and want to start your Jiu-Jitsu journey! You will be in good hands!
The facility was very clean, they had rental Gi’s, locker/changing rooms, and every student in the room came up to me and welcomed me with a hand shake!
Professor Miguel, you guys have created and amazing learning environment and culture at your academy! Hopefully one day I will return!
Until then, if you or any of your students make it out to Hawaii, you are more than welcome to come train with us at Central Oahu Jiu-Jitsu Academy!

Great clean gym and friendly instructor Miguel Rodrigues with warm welcoming people. Theres nothing more to ask for. I really enjoyed the session while my stay in Lisabon. I hope to return again or if I live in Lisabon i would definitely sign up. Highly recommend for everyone even beginners. Instructor Miguel Rodrigues took the time to explain everything separetely in English and my partners were kind enough to teach me if i didn't understand something. I felt like I was part of the family 5Elements. Thank you all again and hope to see you soon!. Obrigado.

As a visitor from Toronto, everyone was very welcoming and made me feel at home. Miguel is not only a super cool dude, but a fantastic instructor and easily one of the best guys I’ve ever rolled with. Can’t recommend this place enough to anyone who wants to train in Lisbon!

If i could I'd give it 6 Stars for sure. Had a trully wonderful experience a Academia Five Elements Jiu Jitsu. Proffesor Hélio and his wonderfull students recieved me with open arms. Beautiful academy, crispy white Gis everywhere and top-notch teaching. I mean this is what i look for whenever i travel and search for an academy to visit.

Recomendo plenamente. Tudo converge em prol, do ensinamento. Programa, orientação, planeamento, disciplina, método, valores, espaço e acima de tudo, muito bom ambiente, gerido por excelentes instrutores. If you ever in Lisbon and love jiu Jitsu , you have to go there to train, high level of teaching and team, really good vibes, classes are done in English and Portuguese so no worries about language barrier:) , also it’s located in the city center 5 minutes walk from the metro and bus station

I stopped by in Lisbon and tracked down this gym to train. It was an amazing experience. Hélio is an excellent instructor and he even taught in English which I appreciate very much. Everybody in the class was very welcoming and competent. Hélio taught me like I had been there for months! He made me feel very comfortable and I had an awesome training session. I took the fundamentals class and the drills were very helpful. I look forward to taking them back home to Canada and integrate them into my training. Much respect to Hélio and his team 5 elements Rato will be my gym next time I'm back in Lisbon!

Highly technical BJJ with great facilities and an excellent training environment that always makes you feel welcome!! A team of patient and knowledgeable instructors who are always willing to help you and providing attention to those technical details that will help you to improve. Either if you’re a newby in the sport or already more advanced this the best place to train the true Gracie BJJ!!!

I came to Lisbon on a week-long trip and dropped in for a class. Good, solid, fundamental BJJ and they welcome you with open arms. Everyone was nice with no ego at all. Great for beginners and advanced belts (I'm a purple belt). I would definitely recommend dropping by or becoming a member if you live in the area. Reasonable rates and a wonderful atmosphere! I will definitely be back! Oss.
