De jolies choses sans aucun doute .... mais des prix fous !

I hope it was only a case of bad luck but this time I visited their store (I go there at least once or twice a year) on Rua do Alecrim, I noticed that the amount and variety of pieces and especially the quality of their decoration have clearly diminished. However, prices have gone up! Traditional art crafts are endangered everywhere and reducing their quality won't help them survive. I hope everything changes for the better.

Very typical place where buying gifts for family and friends. The price are not so cheap and you can pay by card only if you spend more than 25 euros. Anyway, you can find some good deal!

É uma das minhas lojas favoritas, no encontro com algo típico, verdadeiro e tradicional, ora aqui está!... Vale a pena explorar e porque não levar uma lembrança, é uma daquelas que se vai lembrar sempre.

This is the one place where you can find the most traditional chinoiserie inspired handmade, hand-painted ceramics in Lisbon. The factory dates back to the 1700s. Prices are steep, but I’d suggest quality over quantity any day, especially as the ceramic tableware sold in souvenir shops are highly unimpressive and look more like they’re made in China. Expect to pay 25 euros for a single tile here, and around 120 euros for a decorative plate.

Ceramics and Tiles ( called “Azulejos” ) since 1741, Sant’Anna Factory produces all its pieces ( tiles and pottery ) according to entirely handcrafted methods keeping the same processes since 1741. Totally handmade ( until the hand painted phase ) and have their artistic quality recognized for its distinct decoration and painting. Factory and showroom located between downtown Biaxa and Belem.

Never have you been so worried to turn around or back up in a shop before. It's a bit stuffed full of delicate vases and ceramics, and it's a bit ornate or old-fashioned for some people's taste, but it's definitely an interesting place and worth a look if you're in the area.

Ordered a set of tiles to replace original Santanna tiles from the early 1980's for a restoration job. The tiles that arrived were in no way similar in terms of colour or artwork to the originals. They look indeed as another reviewer has mentioned, like mass produced tiles. When I questioned the tile finish I was informed that they no longer use the same glazes, as the old ones contain lead - only after the order was paid and delivered. Naturally they would not accept a return - nor were they willing to sell me blank corner tiles, once we discovered an excellent company who were able to create almost perfect replicas (Artes de Fogo).

It was an amazing experience. They do tiles exactly as in the old day, better, some of the finest old tiles were actually painted by then. It is the oldes fabrique in Portugal, if you like tiles you have to come here.

Fabulous spot for all your ceramic shopping. They don't have a lot of antiques but their craft is old school. They have a range of prices that are not intimidating. I got 3-4 tiles priced at €15-17 each.
