If you love your food and like it skilfully made by folk who live to do such things well then this is the place for you. The staff are so motivated and the place so cosy. Always a good idea to reserve a table but if you are as lucky as us walk right in.

If there is a place in Cascais where you can find a good grappa, The Taberna is the right place! Of course you can enjoy something else such as their infamous "taglieri" with ham, burrata, grissini, olives and many other good ingredients you can taste with a good glass of wine. Nice, cosy, funny and popular venue in Cascais, out from the crowdy centre of the vila. Genuine.

My husband and I have been living in Cascais for nearly two years and had never been to Taberna Clandestina until this month .... wow what can I say other than we will definitely be going back, it was such an enjoyable evening :) We booked a table as had read online that the place is small and does get busy, when we arrived our table was free and had a lovely little hand written welcome note. Not long after arriving the place just seemed to fill up (very popular place), people were coming in from the street looking for a table, they have a bar area where you can have a drink whilst a table comes free. We ordered our drinks and food, the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and the house wine was really nice (we always go with the house wine in Portugal as unlike other Countries you never get a bad one). After our delicious food we sat relaxing finishing our wine when a couple came in, they were waiting for their table to come free (not ours), as we had finished eating we decided to take our drinks to the bar so the couple could have our table, we were told this was not necessary but we said we were happy to move, the lovely couple sent us over a drink to say thank you and the staff were very appreciative too. We then got chatting to the two guys behind the bar and decided to try a couple of their cocktails, very nice. The atmosphere was so friendly and relaxing we could have stayed all night. This place is a MUST if you are in Cascais, we can't wait to go back and I can't wait for our friends to visit from the UK as we now have a new place to take them, so that means we will have many visits this year. I have a thing about toilets in restaurants, if they are not clean I don't tend to go back, it is a unisex toilet and clean and fun, so another tick in the box. Thanks to Victor, Filipe, Morci, Fribi, Camila and the two Franchescos for a lovely evening. Sorry if I didn't get all your names right x

Super friendly staff and tasty food. The room is small but well furnished in a way that make you feel comfortable. Really advise everyone that pass over Cascais to give this place a try, you will not regret! I will for sure return.

Estabelecimento com decoração bem peculiar, há poucas mesas e bem juntas porque o espaço é pequeno. Provei alguns vinhos e um prato do cardápio. A conta é apresentada dentro de um copinho. Boa música.

Small place. Stopped there randomly on a rainy day for a glass of wine and some tapas before going for dinner in a "real restaurant".
But Clandestine bar was such a great place we stayed and had our dinner there. We were so excellently taken care by the staff, wine was good and we loved the tasty rich flavoured food and relaxed atmosphere. Thank you Clandestine-Team!

simplesmente as melhores tapas que comi até hoje, de uma variedade incrível com tudo o que caracteriza a culinária portuguesa com uma mix além fronteiras que casa na perfeição à mesa com o vinho alentejano.
Boa vibe ao estilo bairrista, melhor sóe é possivel na companhia de bons amigos, se não os tiver é preferivel ir sozinho e apreciar a comida.

Wonderful experience! Very delicious food (try the bolgheri, the seafood platter, or even one of the hot focaccias) and friendly staff. Super cool vibe and didn’t feel super touristy. We even got a free shot of limoncello! Definitely thinking about going back for lunch tomorrow.

Very different expirience from the start to the end with many highlights through out. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the menu was different, but interesting and the food was amazing. Come in, sit down and let them navigate you through the evening without pretending you in control. It will be night to remember.

Niedliche, kleine Tapas Bar mit sehr leckerem Essen. Eventuell braucht man Glück, dass man einen Platz bekommt, da es sehr wenige gibt. Aber nicht abschrecken lassen, man kann sich auf die "happy waiting list" schreiben lassen. Das Warten lohnt sich!

don't be turned off by the people waiting outside. get your name on the "happy waiting list" and grab a drink from the hatch and relax. if the queue is really long grab a platter too. (The Pleasures platter especially)

Tiny place with great food if limited choice. The meat and fish platters are varied and delicious.
The employees are friendly and competent.
It becomes more of a bar in the late evening and serves pretty good caipirinhas, amongst other things.
I emphasize again the tinyness of it - 4 or 5 very small tables, but well worth the visit, especially if you're looking for something a little out of the norm.

Preferia manter este local secreto, mas o sucesso do local esta a torna-lo super movimentado e difícil de arranjar mesa. A confecção e qualidade da matéria prima fazem crer que estamos numa província Italiana a provar produtos caseiros locais. Muito bom atendimento com uma descrição detalhada do que estamos a prestes a saborear. So peca mesmo por ser um local pequeno, mas no final, valeu a pena esperar.

Very friendly and seemingly always full as we walked past it everyday on our visit. We sneaked in for a lunch. It's tiny but that adds to the quirkiness and the atmosphere. Food was excellent. The mushroom ravioli was delicious. The sharing boards are good too but I'd stick to the other cooked options. Would definitely go back. Bill was around 70 euros for 4 including a round of drinks. Very good value.

Best restaurant I’ve been to in Portugal!! The food was great, the atmosphere was great, and the people at the restaurant were great, just everything about this restaurant was perfect! I especially recommend their white sangria and seafood platter, but honestly, I believe any other menu will be just as amazing as these. They also gave us free lemon shots before we left :) I loved it here and thanks for making me go home with such wonderful dining experience!! I’d give ten stars if I could!!!

정말 맛있었어요.
해산물 플래터 굉장히 맛있었고, 크림 라비올리도 잘 먹었습니다. 화이트 샹그리아 0.5리터만 시킨 거 후회할 정도로 달달하니 맛있어서 행복한 저녁 식사했어요. 서비스도 좋아서 굉장히 기분 좋았습니다.

Gogogo !!! As little as so big is the pleasure to eat in this jewell off the main track in lovely Cascais. Nice blend between Italian and Portuguese cooking, ingredients. Very well presented, very well offered, very tasty to eat. It's a MUST GO PLACE if you are there. Only problem is the size of the place. Se take your chances, if to you are lucky to find a spot. But this is another thing I loved about this place. Really and truly a clandestine taberna. Loved it!!!!

This was such a great place! The wine was fantastic, the food was realy the best and the service was even better. I loved it! The truffel butter was so good, and the burrata was awesome. We had a platter to share and one more extra dish this was more then enough for two. If we would have found out about this place sooner we would have gone more often.

Simply the best meal of our holiday. You can't book after 6.30pm so be prepared to wait, but oh boy is it worth it. Take the staff recimmendations for what is good that day and you won't be disappointed. The sharing platter of charcuterie and cheese is sensational. Très très très bonne surprise avec ce petit bar / restaurant ! Que se soit l’acceuil des serveurs, la deco, l’ambiance ou la qualité des produits, rien a redire !!
Il y avait serte un peu d’attente car la taille de la salle n’est pas très grande, mais nous n’avons pas regretté ! Nous nous sommes RÉGALÉ !

Nous sommes tombés par hasard sur ce petit restaurant où la déco et le nom intriguant nous ont fortement attirés. Et nous n'avons pas été déçus ! Quant 3 amis amateurs de voyages transmettent leur histoire et leurs aventures dans les assiettes, ça ne peut qu'être réussi. Tout est fait maison et mention spéciale pour les cocktails ! Au top !

My husband and I went there after a long day of biking through Cascais. We were delighted to find this place which had so many little wonderful details.
Staff was great, immediately served us our drinks. Even though the terrace is super small, they put you on a waiting list and you can enjoy your drinks in the meantime. We had ham and pepperoni cheese foccacia for starters and daily specials for main course, and cod fish. Great presentation, great taste, great all around. Would definitely visit again.

Small and quaint but amazing food. They pack you in to an amazing Taverna that only seats about 20 but is well worth the visit!

Locale meraviglioso con personale gentilissimo e disponibilissimo! Prenotate se potete perchè i posti a sedere sono circa una ventina e dopo poco c’è molto da attendere. Il menù è variegato e con molti prodotti italiani (il fondatore è italiano). I prodotti sono di alta qualità ed è un locale adatto sia per cenare che per fare aperitivo. Super consigliato!

Entrati perché attratti dalla fila di coloro che aspettavano,tempo di attesa circa 45 minuti, gestito da giovani assai gentili,serviti con cortesia e celerità in un ambiente molto piccolo,meno di 20 posti,ma assai simpatico.Una sorta di cucina fusion con prodotti italiani,spagnoli e portoghesi tutto buono....birra ghiacciata.Prezzo equo meno di 20 euro a testa.Consigliatissimo!!!!

Surely the best bar / restaurant of Cascais. The barman and waiters are so kind. The atmosphere is just what you want if you want to get some fun. And the food is amazing.

Cozy is what best describes it. Very quickly filled, with max 20 seats inside, and another 10/15 outside, weather allowing. For this it is not surprising to have to wait, especially for large groups (3+!).
The place is very nicely decorated, and service is quite fast and kind.
Food is fresh and tasty. Not too many dishes to choose from, but well assorted and combined.
Defined worth a visit.

Great atmosphere and food - we were lucky to get a table before a queue outside started forming. Shared half a litre of sangria and the seafood platter for lunch which came to €24 between the two of us. Very tasty and saw some other dishes that I want to go back and try.

Leímos recomendaciones en TripAdvisor sobre este sitio. Al llegar, estuvimos un rato fuera, dudando de que valiera la pena entrar.
Al final entramos y nos sorprendió gratamente. Es un sitio pequeño, pero acogedor. La comida está muy rica, aunque las raciones no son muy grandes para lo que cuesta el plato.
Recomiento este sitio.

Restaurant qui vaut le détour ! Accueil parfait et cadre atypique. Une carte simple et complète avec des serveurs accueillant et à l'écoute. Allez y entre amis, famille ou couplé vous ne serez pas déçu. Nous étions deux et avons pris bruchetta plus le plateau de charcuterie fromage à partager, la quantite était au rendez vous. Les cocktails et le vin sont très bon.

Un beau petit restaurant qui est dans une ancienne maison typique du Portugal. Des supers plats avec des mixtes sucré salé qui fonctionnent à merveille, un staff qui vous rend vôtre soirée bien agréable.

Por vezes, irmos a um restaurante com as expectativas elevadas pode impedir-nos de apreciarmos plenamente a experiência. Não foi este o caso. Apesar das boas avaliações deste espaço, nos vários sites consultados, apreciámos plenamente o ambiente intimista, a brocheta clandestina e a tábua do mar. A sobremesa não impressionou, mas acho que a culpa foi da nossa escolha, pois na mesa ao lado escolheram mousse de avelã, e tinha muito bom aspeto.

Great food and drinks, super friendly staff and a vibrant atmosphere, a must if you visit Cascais (or the area). It seems like everyone is just having a good time here, the customers and the staff. Avoid the throngs of the centre of town and come straight here. Even though it is a tapas place, the portions are large and very reasonable.

카스카이스에서 아주 핫한 타파스 와인 바. 왜냐면 사람이 끊이지 않아요^^ 진짜 가득가득함. 저는 저녁 먹고 가서 와인 딱 한잔만 먹고 나왔는데요. 굉장히 친절하고 사람 많아요... 혼자 갈만한 분위기는 아니구... 둘 이상 가면 더 좋을 것 같아요. 시끌벅적한 분위기라서.... 그래도 카스카이스 타파스 바 중에 가장 사람 많았던 것 같아요. 거기엔 이유가 있겠죠?

I heard a rumour that this place was set up by two friends, a Portuguese and an Italian, who argued about which country had the best food so delicacies from both countries are on the menu. Guess what - it's a tie. Fantastic Italian food and amazing Portuguese food. All with wonderful service and brilliant atmosphere. Save room for desserts. Very good value too. Bookings only taken before 8.00pm but worth coming early to ensure that you get a table

Es un sitio bien peculiar. Quizás no nos hubiéramos acercado nunca si no hubiera sido por las excelentes críticas que tiene.
Aunque, en honor a la verdad, cuando pasas por delante y ves a tanta gente esperando en la calle para que les toque el turno ya imaginas que no se debe de comer mal allí.
El sistema es un tanto peculiar. Te tienes que apuntar en la lista de espera del día que quieras ir y ellos te dicen a que hora, más o menos, te tocará comer. Y no es raro que te digan que el día que quieres está cubierto. Con lo que es recomendable ir con un "día B".
Nosotros tuvimos que esperar unos 20 minutos más respecto de la hora que nos dijeron. Y, la verdad, se nos empezó a atragantar la idea de cenar ahí... pero, sin duda, mereció la pena esperar.
La primera sorpresa agradable son los camareros: eficientes, rápidos y amables. El que nos tocó a nosotros vio que éramos tres y nos ofreció esperar 5 minutos más para podernos ofrecer una mesa más cómoda. Le dijimos que sí. Sentó a la pareja que iba detrás de nosotros en la mesa que nos hubiera correspondido (hay que decir que era una mesa perfecta para dos, no los sentó en mal sitio) y a nosotros nos acabó sentando, en mí opinión, en la mejor de todas las mesas.
Una vez sentados, nos explicó cómo se funcionaba allí (se come, principalmente a base de tablas) y nos ayudó a seleccionar para que pudiéramos probar cosas diferentes.
En nuestro caso comimos una bruscheta pecorino (queso) y otra de presunto (jamón) como entrantes. Difícil decir cuál de las dos estaba mejor. El queso estaba fundido, que no deshecho, sobre láminas de pera con un toque de miel y nueces por encima. Y el jamón estaba cortado fino, como se debe, y tenía el sabor intenso y justo...
El plato principal fue una tabla de mar. Una combinación de diferentes tipos de pescado, con diferentes preparaciones y salsas. Además de varios tipos de pan, cada uno más apropiado para pescado. Nada daba la sensación de estar por debajo de una primera calidad.
Una experiencia sencilla, pero exquisita. Tanto en la atención como en la comida.

Très bonne planche de poissons ! Un service convivial et chaleureux avec un joli sourire d'une serveuse très pro. Le cuisinier vient nous voir pour savoir si on aime et nous demande ce qu'on aime pas. Un peu cher pour la région, mais à ne surtout pas louper si vous faites le détour par la plage lors d'un séjour à Lisbonne.

Best bar in Cascais. Excellent staff and athmosphere. Authentic, easy going. Perfect for a drink before dinner or after. Great food as well (petiscos/tapas).
