This place does not take credit/debit cards. Travelers beware. That said, it was ok for food also. Service was ok nothing to wrote home about - difficult but nice enough to store our baby carriages. Words for this place: inconvenient / unfulfilling. It is good for location tho.

Delicious food and nice service.
We had the Baked Cod which cost 15€ and was great. Kids had fried fish and fried chicken. We all enjoyed!

Good place, nice staff (they speak a bit of italian, english etc.), but most importantly: food is delicious. Even though it costs, they give you a huge portion of food to eat. You can't pay by credit card, so that's negative. Cool anyways. I really recommend you to take the "carne de porco a alentejana" (something like that...), because it's delicious! You can see it in the photo that I'm going to post below. Have a nice meal!

is a very delicious spot in Sintra downtown. We had a blast with the White House wine and with the excellent service of Artur Ramos. Food was succulent and delicious in very affordable generous portions. We had cod croquettes, cod Portuguese style and tuna salad. All was excellent.
We will love to go back again!!!

Horrible food and service. I have ordered Porco a la alcajlanca and It was tasteless and the meat was overcooked, hard and very chewy. Overall very disappointed even if the place looks nice

Restaurante pequeño y coqueto en medio de Sintra.
Los platos, en general, son abundantes y suficientes si se quiere compartir.
Destacaría la especialidad de la sopa de bacalhao que va servida dentro del pan, algo que se debe probar.
Como especialidad de postres tienen la tarta de manzana con leche condensada.
El servicio es atento y amable. A tener en cuenta es que no se puede pagar con tarjeta de crédito.
La calidad es buena pero el precio un poco alto en comparación.

Отвратительная еда, не советую идти никому, даже если сильно голодные. Брали компанией разные блюда (печень, сардины, свинина с мидиями), и никому не понравилось. У меня и подруги болел живот до вечера:(

Absolute garbage. Mediocre tasteless food at proper restaurant prices. Very poor. Waiting staff tried hard to please so not their fault. Yes it's a popular place for mass visitors and I guess no-one ever returns to the town or the restaurant. Avoid.

Fantastic portuguese food at a reasonable price and great service. Only downside was the music videos playing which were sometimes inappropriate for young viewers though I understand this is a matter of taste so have still given 5 stars.

Local muito acolhedor. Com a sensação de jantar dentro de uma caverna conceito engraçado. De referênciar, as pataniscas de bacalhau com arroz de tomate siplesmente fantásticas. De notar que o horário de jantar não pode ser muito tarde.

We were just there - wonderful! Truly friendly waiters (portuguese). Very good dishes: Bacalhau de natal; Fresh juicy Sardines; Reis with Fish and Seafood (don't remember the official name) - all 3 of them traditional portuguese dishes - all 3 really great tasting. The glass of regular red housewein was a tasty bargain. We ordered water - only tiny bottles available (250ml) which is not waste-wise smart (Belem shore was full of plastic bottles!!) nor customer friendly...
Dessert: Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream - good. Apple cake with condensed milk topping (supposed to be a specialty) & cinnamon - on graham cooky crumbly dough - good.
Very comfortable, friendly surrounding. And the main thing - really friendly staff.
We can truly recommend.

I would gladly return and I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys traditional Portuguese cuisine. The food is delicious and competitively priced in a rustic cavern-like atmosphere. The interior is designed to look and feel like an old salt mine, and the halite mineral accents in and along the walls add a little extra warm ambiance.
The carne de porco alentejana was tender and flavorful. The vinho tinto a casa was medium bodied, slightly sweet, and complimented the sauce of the entrée nicely. When I scanned the dishes of the other patrons, everything looked and smelled alluring. The staff was polite and attentive as well.

Nous avons passé deux jours magnifique a Sintra et nous avons très bien mangé, jusqu'au moment où nous sommes tombé dans ce restos qui était le seule ouvert, je sentais l'arnaque! Et sa c'est confirmé impossible de mangé nous avons renvoyé nos plats!! Inmengeable c'est inadmissible!!

Klimatyczne wnętrze z obrzydliwym sufitem. Jedzenie jak dla mnie mało smaczne. Tłuste, w daniu z wieprzowiną naprawdę wszystkie możliwe części świni. Nie jestem przekonany czy tak powinna wyglądać portugalska kuchnia.

Had a very nice dinner. The prices were on the menu and the food was very good and a lot to begin with. I just wanted to leave a review and saw the place had a rating of 2.9. Weird, it was one of the best places we ate while in Portugal.

Nos sentimos muy mal acogidos, el camarero fue muy borde y la comida tampoco para tirar cohetes.
No lo recomiendo simplemente por lo antipático que fue el camarero.

Catastrophic disaster
Worst restaurant I’ve ever been to.
I went to this with 4 people and non of us were able to finished meals that tasted like frozen food and bread quality was super poor shelter food quality!!
And to finish off this horrible food experience ,we told a waiter for the bill as we just wanted to move on to different place
And our waiter kept telling us that he doesn't speak english that made us speechless for a while till one of us had to say it's a joke..and started laughing and saying"oishi !!!"(means delicious in Japanese ) many times..whoa...

Absolutely terrible!!! Would never go there again. We ordered a vegetarian dish and it tasted like a 2€ meal I get at my college cafeteria! The „salad“ had no dressing, it all tasted like they just warmed up frozen food from a cheap supermarket.
Another bad thing: you can’t pay with card. We wasted over 30€ for unhealthy food that tasted like absolutely nothing. It was honestly the most disappointing experience I ever had at a restaurant! :(

Just had the best dish I've had in Portugal so far. They have a wonderful, inventive, VEGAN dish with leek in soya cream. Delicious! The service was incredible as well. All in all-when we coma back to Sintra this will be the place to come to!

Nicht zu empfehlen! Die Lasagne schmeckt wie bei Lidl oder NP aus der Tiefkühltruhe bzw. sie kommt mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit vom gleichen Produzenten (Geschmack und Aussehen komplett gleich)! Auch der Fisch ist nicht lecker (ungewürzt Und viele Gräten).

Restaurante localizado no Centro Historico!
Os pastéis de bacalhau vieram gelados por dentro (acredito que estavam congelados).
Achei bacalhau com natas um pouco apimentado e o outro bacalhau à Brás estava ok.

O experienta total neplacuta. Am comandat sardine la gratar, comanda a veni destul de repede, si a constat in 4 sardine , 1 foaie salata verde, 2 rondele ceapa proaspata si 3 cartofiori fierti. Parea ok pana cand am observat ca sardinele nu erau curatate. In rest portiile au fost mici si scumpe. Desert banal si prezentat in portii infime. Recomand celor amatori de intestine de peste si celor carora nu le este foame.

Tourist trap! Definitiv keine Empfehlung!
Ich bestellte einen vegetarischen Hamburger und bekam zwei geschmacklose Tiefkühlgemüsefrikadellen, geschmacklose (angebliche) Süsskartoffelchips und eine fade Salatbeilage. Für 12€ vollkommen überteuert. Da ist McDonalds noch die bessere Wahl. Der Laden hat eine gute Lage, macht aber leider überhaupt nichts draus.
Get a proper chef. Serve good vegetables, not this tasteless „food“ you serve now.

Pedi um prato com bacalhau. Não consegui identificar nada além das claras de ovos cozidas, também não consegui encontrar bacalhau. Escolha qualquer outro restaurante em Sintra, menos este.

Wat later op een zondagavond in Sintra geprobeerd aan de tourist traps te ontsnappen, maar dat zat er niet in. Uiteindelijk hier beland, fouter kan bijna niet. Kitschig interieur moet een druipsteengrot voorstellen. Maar we waren uiteindelijk blij verrast. Goede bediening en prima eten, aan de dure kant maar dat heb je in Sintra.

O preço é salgado, muito diferente do habitual em outros pontos turísticos de Portugal... O atendimento deixa a desejar, parece q não querem q tu comas lá... A comida é muito boa... Temperatura, sabor, tempero, tudo perfeito... Estava vazio, tenho certeza de que se tivesse um valor menor, e um atendimento melhor, teria 5 estrelas de todos os visitantes...

It's such a shame about this restaurant. There were 3 of us that came for dinner each of us ordered the seafood soup in bread bowl thinking it was small so we ordered the paella as well. The soup bowls came and they were huge and loaded with seafood, it was very tasty. We decided that we were way too full after the soup and asked to cancel the paella, but we were told it was too late, which was fair. The paella came and it was huge! We could barely touch it so we asked to get it packed up. When the bill came we realized they didn't even have prices on the menu! We were so hungry that we didn't think twice and certainly didn't think the paella was 50 €! For paella! We were astonished. It was good food, but not that good. And then we found out that they don't even accept credit cards! First of all, the waiter should have warned us about the portion sizes, clearly 3 ladies would not have been able to finish all this food. Secondly, it was very dishonest of them to not put prices on the menu and have a very small sign on the front that they don't accept credit. Money grubbers. Dishonest. Would be a much better restaurant if the prices were better and they disclosed everything right off the bat. The inside decor was pretty nice too so it's a shame it's run by such crooks. Would not recommend.

Simple dishes that’s very tasty. Service was good and the poor server needs to close the door because it wouldn’t stay shut. Overall I think it’s pretty good considering it’s a hike up to the Moorish Castle. By the time you come back down, anything tastes good.

Although the food is passable, the prices (for Portugal) would lead you to expect something extraordinary. That, it is not. You can find much more friendly and less price-gouging places in the same town. The fact that the waiter will lie to you straight-faced ("our tap water is not drinkable") is enough to ruin the meal. To top it off, they accept no cards; inexcusable and a sign of pettiness for a place that deals with so many tourists.

Je vous écris, confortablement installé sur les WC avec un mal de bide terrible après avoir manger dans ce restaurant.
Les lasagnes sûrement surgelé puisque servie en moins de 5 minutes y sont sûrement pour quelque chose. Nous sommes rentrés dans ce restaurant à cinq et quatres d'entre nous sont ressorti malade.
Les tarifs sont très élevé vu la qualité de la nourriture. Pour 5 plats et 75cl de sangria 80€, ça pique.

Fuyez ce restaurant, sûrement le pire restaurant de Sintra voir même du Portugal. Un bon attrape touriste, la décoration attire l'oeil mais les plats sont tout bonnement atroce et hors de prix. Comptez 15 euros pour 75cl de Sangria. Tous les plats sont surgelés, rien n'est frais. Pour finir obligation de payer en liquide, les paiement cartes ne sont pas acceptées.

Difficile de trouver pire que ce "restaurant" qui sert des plats mal surgelés , ce qui fait que vous avez mal au ventre pendant 2 jours
Sans parler de la facture: 80 euros pour manger des sardines pas fraiches et un steak qui donne envie de vomir

Fermati per caso.. preoccupati perché era abbastanza vuoto ma in un attimo ci hanno servito.. un primo in due, due secondi, due dolci, due caffè e due bottiglie di acqua a 43 €.

I have never complained about anything in a restaurant in my whole life, but this was a horrible experience. They let kids run around and scream the whole time, I couldn't hear myself think and we were unable to have a proper conversation because of the noise. The staff should have talked to the parents of those children. The food is very overpriced for what you get. I had multiple fishbones in my stirfried dish and eventually stopped eating because I almost broke my tooth on a stone that was in my food. For this horrible experience, the staff did nothing to apologize. I recommend nobody to eat here.

Despite being perched on a slopping road branching from the main road where the Sintra National Palace is, you'll find that this restaurant will be packed with people trying to get a table for lunch. With the restaurant trying to do as much service as it can at one time despite the limited room, be prepared for a bit of a tight fit between tables.
My family found the food to be enjoyable (piping hot when served at the table) and reasonably portioned for the large part and the waitstaff to be friendly and helpful.

This place was great. Understated, homely and lovely, unpretentious traditional food. My husband and I were initially concerned as it was empty, but when the mains were served, they were exactly what we wanted. The waiter was friendly and helpful and the apple pie he recommended for dessert was incredible! If you're after a no-fuss, homely meal, this is the place for you!

Tem bom aspecto mas o serviço e a comida deixa muito a desejar, mal servido, com pouca qualidade e foi muito caro. Para acrescentar não têm multibanco nem WiFi (pouco relevante, mas em zonas turísticas é útil para procurar zonas de interesse por exemplo).

We went there because it was mentioned in our lonely planet guide but we bitterly regretted it.we had a plate with cod served in a traditional way.the meal was far too salty and tasted just as that.additionally the price was much too high as we learned later on our trip through Portugal.
