I love the Pastels de Belem as much as everyone else, but for me this place is even better. The egg custard tarts here are amazingly good, and the combination with cinnamon and sugar is just heavenly. If you're in the mood for pastel de natas you don't have to travel to Belem to find the best ones, they are right here.

Probably the best pastéis I have had in Lisbon. Tried the other famous one, but I personally preferred the taste and texture of this one. Lines are also shorter here and the price is very reasonable. If you’re coming to Lisbon, I highly recommend coming to this location at time-out market for some pastéis.

Another go-to bakery besides Pastéis de Belam if you want a good pastel de nata. They have so many customers so that you know the pastries are always fresh. And you get to see clearly how the beautiful pastries are made. It is right by the entrance of Time Out Market you can’t miss it.

We haven't eaten all the options in the city for pastel de natas but we've had a few and the ones here are excellent quality in comparison. And they are only 1€ per pastry however many you get! I think this place has the price point nailed down the best. They will keep doing business for a long time if they can sell this cheap. Because the quality is well worth the price. I bet there are some fancy artisan places that make it better (maybe??) but I'm sure they would be way more expensive.
Don't leave the market without getting one or two or five from this place.

This branch of Manteigaria is right inside the Time Out market. The pastéis de nata are fresh and delicious. There’s a local rivalry between which are the best custard tarts in Lisbon - this place or Belem. At €1 each, you can do a cheap experiment! Buy a few to eat right away with cinnamon on top, and bring a box home (they last for a few days out of the fridge).

Manteigaria was our first taste of Portuguese pastel de nata after we arrived.
The experience was great, quick service, fresh products, and English language friendly.
They sell enough of these that there is a constant turn over so that the tarts are still lukewarm when you get them. But not "hot" like in Belem.
The custard is yolky and very sweet, and the crusts are crunchy. However, after trying 10+ bakeries with each of their own interpretation of pastel de nata, I would say that your favorite will depend on your personal taste buds. Your desire in the crunch of the crust, the sweetness and texture custard will all make your choice pick different.
I personally like pasteis de Belem the best, and also found that Pau de Canela in town struck a better texture and sweetness in their custard.
My word of advice, go explore and find your own favorite pastel de nata.
For your information, try some Ginjinha here while you are here to avoid the long line downtown.

Addicted the these little delight of happiness. Only €1 each and you get to watch them as they make it! IMO these are actually better than the one in Belém. I find the crust and filling to be perfect especially with the cinnamon on top!

Melhor pastel de nata de Lisboa, quiçá do mundo (só compete com a unidade de Porto, como não poderia deixar de ser).
Atendimento rápido, mesmo com filas, fornadas de hora em hora e pastéis sequinhos, com recheio muito suculento.
Sem dúvidas, muito melhor que os pastéis de Belém - e pela metade do preço, sem o estresse das filas quilométricas e recheio mole!

Muito bom saboroso e delicioso , pessoal simpático e atencioso, são rápidos não existem filas sem sentido tudo muito bem organizado e o melhor de tudo, barato.

Here you'll find the best Pasteis de Nata I've tasted during my trip to Portugal. It is located inside the Time Out Market which is a must if you're traveling to Portugal.
The key for a good Pastes de Nata is that ot must be fresh and still warm. The crust hast to be hard. You can add sugar and cinnamon if you like.

A loja é pequena e não tem serviço de esplanada, entretanto na parte da frente possui mesas e cadeiras para a degustação dos saborosos pastéis de nata. A loja possui outro balcão de atendimento por dentro do Mercado da Ribeira podendo consumir no balcão ou nas mesas do mercado. Já fui, já voltei e pretendo voltar muitas vezes. O atendimento é rápido a tempo de dissolver as filas rapidamente. Recomendo.

As good as it gets. They go through them so fast that you'll always get them piping hot as they were meant to be eaten.
The custard melts I to your mouth and the crust is filo so you can hear the crispy crackle if each buttery layer as you bite through it. A definite must have.
The line can be long but they tend to go quick. Don't give up. It's worth the wait!

The pastéis de nata from the manteigaria are definitely good and they are in the top-3 spots where to experience the real flavor of this simple yet delicious. But the custard cream was too sweet with too much sugar in it. Some other places have the custard that is less sugary and more balanced.

ポルトガルに来たらエッグタルトを食べないのは勿体無い！
そこで訪れたのがココ！
パイ生地はパリッパリ、中のクリームは程よく軟らかく甘さも香りもよく、トータルで美味しいの一言。
タルトには、粉砂糖かココアパウダーをかけてもいいそうです。(自由にかけることができました。)
それと一緒に頼んだのが、ダブルエスプレッソ。マーケット内で昼食のメインディッシュを食べたら、デザートとしては最高ですね。
お店には多少の行列が出来ていましたが、回転が早いので待ち時間は気になりませんでした。
このマーケットへ行くことがいくことがあれば、是非ともお勧めしたいお店の一つです。

Wir waren hier nach unserem Besuch im Time Out Market. Hier gibt es die besten Pasteis de Nata und hier kann man auch sehen, wie diese hergestellt werden. Glücklicherweise ist der Laden von aussen mit großen Fenstern versehen und wer sich dort einmal hinstellt und zuguckt, kann erleben mit welcher Hingabe die Pasteis hergestellt werden. Es handelt sich hier wirklich um traditionelle Backkunst. Ich hoffe, dass dieses Handwerk im nächsten Jahr nicht verloren geht. Werde ich die teiglinge genau ansieht der sieht auch mit welcher Struktur dieser Teig aufgebaut ist. Schön, dass man hier noch einmal einen Einblick hat.
Der beiden Galao, die wir mit dazu bestellt hatten, waren leider etwas milchlastig und kaum ein Latte Macchiato ziemlich nahe. Der selbstgemachter Eistee war leider nix. Aber trotzdem lohnt sich ein Besuch. Der unglaubliche Geschmack der Pasteis entschädigt einen. Die Pasteis kann man auch mitnehmen. Es gibt extra Papierverpackungen zum Mitnehmen.

Muy ricos la verdad. Pero he leído muchos mensajes equivocados y divertidos. Nata en portugués significa crema. Así que “pastéis de nata" quiere decir pasteles de crema. Es gracioso leer tantos mensajes de españoles diciendo que los pasteles de nata de este sitio están muy buenos. ¡Después de haberse comido un pastel de crema alguna sospecha sobre la palabra nata en portugués deberían tener!

I've had quite a few of these Pasteis de Nata but I must say this unassuming store has one of the best ones i have tried. The pastry is flakey and crunchy while the custard is neither too sweet nor too heavy. Just make sure you don't have too much too fast because they are too good to have just one.

돌아이같은 년에게 시나몬 가루가 어디 있냐고 물어보니까. “노!” 이러고 지 하던일 계속 했다.
옆에 있는 남자 직원이 옆에서 듣고 시나몬 가루 챙겨줬다. 18개나 사서 가는데 서비스 정신이 바닥이다.

Meilleurs pasteis de nata de Lisbonne.
Nous avons goûté ceux de Belém, ceux d’Alcoa, ceux en face de chez nous Rua Augusta... et ceux du Manteigaria au time out sont définitivement les meilleurs! Les textures sont harmonieuses (fondant de la crème et croquant de la base feuilletée), la crème est bien parfumée, un pur délice. Le personnel y a été très accueillant, souriant, agréable.
1€ par pastel, le prix habituel à Lisbonne.

I would have to say that after trying the pasteis de nata in Belém at Pasteis de Belém vs. this one.. I actually liked these way better.
No new to wait in line in Belém! You have several locations of these ones available.

I tried a pastel de nata from three of the “big” places that make them, and this was easily the best one. It was delicious, warm, creamy, sweet but not too sweet, with a lovely flaky pastry base. On top of that it wasn’t ridiculously busy and I didn’t have to wait forever to get one (or six, the next day). Definitely come for dessert after eating at the market, you won’t be disappointed.

Muy buen trato y buenos pasteles de nata de belem. Recomiendo ir por fuera del mercado, que tienen otra entrada, donde también te atienden, hay menos gente y además mientras haces cola ves como hacen los pasteles de belem. Estan deliciosos, cuestan 1€. Tienen cafe y te para llevar.

Es un lugar ideal para comprar pasteles de nata para regalar o para consumir. Nos salió cada pastel por 1€ y te los meten en una cajita perfecta si vas a viajar y te los quieres llevar a casa. Puedes elegir entre cajas de 6 y de 12. Están buenísimos y la atención fue de 10.

The pasteis (1€ each) here are delicious. The flavors are rich yet not overstated and the powdered sugar go great on these little treats. Downside is that service is hectic and a bit confusing. Note that the egg makes a stronger appearance in these tarts than other sellers.

Oh wow they reuse old coffee. They put in pistol with coffee, make espresso. Then without changing coffee they press button to make next espresso. They made three like this and gave it to me. I was shocked. I tried it and of course it was burned. I just left. Never seen anything this crazy.

Excelente opção para comer o famoso Pastel de nata. Fornadas frequentes proporcionam comê-lo sempre quentinho. Recomendo.

Visiting from Canada. Everyone told us to try the custard tart, and we tried on in a cafe and didn't like it at all. But when we walked by this place in Time Out Market, theirs looked pretty good so we bought one. It was SO GOOD we had to go back and buy two more! It's hard to imagine anyone can beat this place.

Just pasteis de nata and they are really good ones! 1€/tart when we visited. No lines unlike the famous ones at Belem :)

Yesterday we went to pasteis de belem and I rated it 5 stars. Today I went to this nata place and I liked the pastries better. Espresso was also good and cheap.
