This is a hidden gem. Absolutely lovely place and the peber and staff are wonderful.we Will absolutely come backup.

Very welcoming and friendly staff, clean rooms, authentic architecture and Quinta, nice food and even better wine. A little off the beaten track, we no nearby restaurants, but the on site restaurant is affordable and with a rotating three course menu. Nice (unheated) pool and a million-dollar-view. Highly recommended.

Excellent. Everthing was great. If driving in don’t accept the fastest route google maps gives you. You will be placed into donkey/tractor roads.

Esta frase resume perfeitamente tudo aquilo que constitui a quinta, um local com muito requinte, de uma limpeza extema, com uma equipa muita atenciosa e muito experiente e naturalmente, com um serviço de excelência.
O jantar estava delicioso, num ambiente muito agradável onde se torna facil conviver tanto com o staff como os outros residentes.
A relação qualidade/preço é perfeita.
Excelente local para passar dois dias em familia.
Obrigado ao Eduardo e à sua dreamteam por tudo e com certeza voltaremos em breve!

We had an amazing stay at this hotel!The hotel was beautiful and clean, however the people there were the best part!We enjoyed a wine tasting and dinner there and this was arguably the best meal of our trip. Highly recommend the cheesecake.We will definitely return to this hotel when we are back in Portugal.

Madeline and I had the very pleasure of staying at the amazing Rural Hotel Quinta do Silva property early in our Portugal adventure. We did have an interesting drive getting there. Navigating our way through the vineyards and along narrow country tracks was well worth the effort. The team making it all happen at Quinta were marvellous. Welcoming, engaging and professional. The property is perfectly located with amazing views across the valleys and vine yards that surround it. A big shout out to the wine they produce, serve and are rightly proud of. We enjoyed both their reds and whites. Dorna Velha Tinta Roriz 2015 was outstanding as was the Dorna Velha Reserva 2013. We left with a gift of their pink port. Thank you so much.
We absolutely recommend the Quinta to anyone vising the the Douro. Please enjoy!

We had a quick one night stay at Quinta do Silval but it was lovely. The staff was attentive and kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The pool area is dreamy and the views are unreal. We didnt eat dinner here but breakfast was great.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the overall premises was spectacular with its views and calm setting. The only thing I would have liked to know in advance was that the room was to be located on the first floor right outside of reception. The walls are thin and provided little privacy from the front desk area.

Staying here two nights made my whole vacation! I cant say enough good things about this hotel, their wine, their amazing staff and their delicious food. We felt pampered, welcomed and after two nights there we were completely relax, in love with the location and left planning our next return. Eduardo and his staff were extremely nice and went above and beyond to make sure we loved our stay - which we did. Take full advantage of their wine tasting and their food! They make their own olive oil (which was delicious) and all of their food was fresh (eat all of their seafood, its to die for). Some of the reviews say the rooms are outdated - they clearly dont get the point/vision of this place. My boyfriend and I come here to disconnect, enjoy each others company, eat delicious food, drink amazing wine, learn more about wine and have great conversations. All of my expectations were met and exceeded. We will return and plan to stay longer!

Very polite and attentive staff. We arrived late for dinner and even so they managed to serve us .The Hotel is very well located in the heart of Douro vineyards spread around Alijó. It provides a fantastic Douro ambience

1st of all we had a main floor room with NO air conditioning ! We couldn’t the window because people walking by could look right in! Beds were uncomfortable and couldn’t sleep well . We were there a few nights and the first night the fire alarm went off at 2 am and they never said why and when asked they said nothing they could do about it!! Finally , charged us a corkage fee for drinking our own wine ! Not impressed!!!

The Quinta is in a lovely location with beautiful views of the vineyards and hillsides. The staff bent over backwards for us, allowing us to check in late and do a wine tasting with dinner. Our earlier tours in nearby Pinhão had run long, so we didn’t get to do the normally scheduled tour and tasting at 1730, thus our special request. Staff member Daniela was super helpful with our last minute changes, and the man who did the tasting with us was extremely engaging and pleasant. That said, the room was rather plain, the bed was rock hard, and the dinner and wine tasting were considerably overpriced given comparative meals and wine in the region. Breakfast was also underwhelming.

The setting of Quinta do Silval is breathtaking; perched on a ridge, rolling vineyards form the stunning backdrop to this Quinta with views over the Vale De Mendiz and beyond.
The rooms are very comfortable, well equipped and clean. The staff were very friendly and super helpful, offering assistance at any time.
The dinner menu was limited with only two choices for the main course. It was also a little pricey, particularly the wine which cost €22 for the least expensive bottle. Saying that, all the food was well prepared, well presented and tasted great.
On a minor point, being an established vineyard a complimentary glass of wine on arrival would have been a nice touch but maybe this cheapens the experience they are trying to sell.
All in all, Quinta do Silval is a beautiful little spot to spend a couple of days away from the stresses of the world.

An extraordinary environment. A truely great host proud about the heritage of his family. We had a great tasting and really like the pappi port ;) The hotel is very luxurious and excellent in every sight.

We stayed 2 nights, the room was lovely with a beautiful view. There is a pool that also has nice views, especially at sunset. The staff, breakfast and wine tasking with Eduardo were exceptional. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Hôtel agréable, vue magnifique depuis la piscine, personnel agréable.
Par contre gros manque au niveau de la cuisine et des vins. le prix de la dégustation de vin est très excessif : 30€ par personne ! Et le prix du repas encore plus 38€/personne (sans le vin) pour un repas certes bon mais très simple ! Le petit déjeuner est aussi très moyen notamment un ersatz de jus d’orange alors qu’il y a avait des oranges fraîches dans les arbres dehors.

Room is very small for 3 adults and located right outside the main reception desk. Dark, and no view but parking lot from only window in room. Breakfast was average. Woke up in middle of night with bathroom floor flooded from a leaking toilet. Brown water on the second morning in shower and tap. But, positive was the view from the pool area. Felt it was overpriced for the quality.

Gros point noir: le petit déjeuner. Le jus d'orange ressemble à du jus en poudre (alors que la region grouille d'orangers) et un client s'est vu répondre, sous mes yeux, "il n'y en a plus" alors qu'il demandait un croissant 1 heure avant la fin du petit dejeuner..
.A 130€ la nuit ce n'est pas possible!
Bref: pas mal mais largement pas au niveau d'un 4 etoiles.

Totally dissatisfied with the Hotel. No service No food No information! I cannot fault the views which are amazing. However details on the advertised hotel is completely wrong! There is no restaurants/cafes nearby by. You would have to go by cab costing €25 to eat. The hotel offers dinner only €32 pp and no vegetarian option. The breakfast is extremely lame at the best of times. Asking for an iron was too much trouble for the the staff. In fact my kids had to eat the snacks we had bought with us as there was no lunch as the kitchen was closed. Beautiful bar but not open. Very little staff to help and limited to resources.

Incredible setting, in the middle of vineyards. Charming hotel, very quiet, located about 3 miles from Pinaho. Eduardo the owner and his team will make you feel welcome and will do everything to make your stay very comfortable. Definitely a unique hotel. Highly recommend.

The property had an amazing view. The Quinta was in the valley away from the city, so it was serenely quiet and very beautiful. It was lovely to have a view of the valley from either the nice picnic area or the well-maintained pool area. The Quinta do Silval also offered a private wine tasting with the owner. It was nice to be able to have the wine with a bit of background as to how the wine was produced.

Although the views are incredible and it is located not too far from Pinhão, the walls of the room were paper thin as you could hear anything. The breakfast was ok, but some real coffee instead of this weird machine would have been better. ( I had better service and breakfasts in hostels) Although you are staying on a vineyard, no wine/ port was offered.

Très bel petit hôtel dans un magnifique vignoble! Isolé dans la vallée dOuro sur un site enchanteur! Le personnel est très serviable et attentionné. Pour ce qui est de la nourriture nous avons trouvé le repas du soir ordinaire pour le prix.

Every one of the staff at Quinta do Silval were friendly and helpful. Edwardo was the perfect host. Our wine tasting was fun and informative. We really felt pampered during our stay there. The meals in their dining room were terrific, too. Incredible views on all sides.

Staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to be accommodating. However, the overall room and facilities (cannot comment on pool as it was closed when we visited) are somewhat dated. There is a constant humming noise from the wine storage units that takes away from the otherwise rural environment.

Lovely hotel in the middle of picturesque countryside. Easy access from Pinhao. The staff are so sweet and attentive. It is restful and bucolic. Highly recommended. The menu options are limited - that is my only reservation.

Wonderful small inn tucked away in a very rural setting! We spent a totally relaxing afternoon and night here. Huge, well-appointed rooms with views over the house vineyards. Loved our room but it only had a large, jetted bathtub, no shower. Nice, large, shaded terrace/porch, perfect for lounging and dining. Dinner is a single dish-of-the-day served family-style to your entire table but the family at the next table over was able to order a ham and cheese sandwich for their son. They served the bacalhau a bras, which is a traditional Portuguese salt cod, potato and onion casserole and it was delicious!!! Very generous portion as well. Only complaint other than the absence of a shower in our room was that you have to ask for pool towels but there was no one around to ask in the afternoon when we wanted to use the pool. Overall, a really lovely stay.

The Hotel Silval is a fantastic little boutique hotel set in the most amazing scenery anywhere in the world. However the over serious attitude projected by the staff can make it quite difficult for the customer to feel at ease.

Spent two days with my wife.The staff were super friendly and helpful, the views are just stunning and even as there were more people there we really felt alone and enjoyed the views, the wine and the pool.

A bad experience. And it's a pity cause the place is in a wonderfull location with great views and quietness. But things were not as we expected: no wifi, very small room, no towels, air conditioned only making noise instead of cool air, really small pool, hot restaurant with a big tv broadcasting a football match ... (so romantic) and after all that they served us a super expensive dinner with super expensive wines (very unfair considering is their own production). And the food was not good: we sent the codfish back to kitchen since uneatable. A complete disaster. Sorry guys, but I cannot recommend at all this place and for sure will not come back.

Beautiful and quiet countryside hotel with wine tastery. Good food, swimming pool with great views on all sides. Very friendly and helpful staff. Recommended to everyone who is looking to step aside from the daily grind.

Looking for an experience of the Douro Valley, we found what we wanted at Hotel Rural Quinta do Silval: A quiet, authentic quinta nestled in the regions famous vineyards, with a stunning view over the terraced vines and olive trees in all directions. Hotel tastefully and elegantly renovated, with all comforts. Restaurant excellent. Swimming pool a definite plus on a hot summer day. The quintas wines -- in restaurant and for sale -- truly fine. A bit difficult to find coming by car from Porto, but well worth the trip.

Vue imprenable sur le vignoble du Douro, mais cest tout. On se croit dans un hotel fantôme. Service inexistant, personne a qui demander un seul cafe même. Bar fermé en plein mois daout!Mais le pire, c est la cuisine: pour un prix irrationel, on reste vraiment sur sa faim.Décevant, surtout après tous ces commentaires élogieux!Really disappointing: poor sevice ( two staff members for about 20 clients), extremely expensive dinner, and very ordinary. Nice view and plesasant pool though, but not worth driving all the time up!
